Well, I suppose if the fat guy could do it, the girl might've been okay as well.

After what happened with Saturn Girl and the planetary chance machine, Brainy shouldn't risk laying such a claim. Imra's a scary sort of gal. She could do things to his brain. And since his brain is his weapon, well...

Abin: You know what to do with a Cali sandwich? No but neither do Cobie and CJ!
CJ: Yeah, we do. She's smiling, isn't she?

The only thing he knows about "girls" is how to spell it.

Violet - "You're right Brainy! This mission *is* too dangerous for girls. And it's also too risky to send an emotionally vulnerable nutjob with a primitive and anachronistic 18th century sense of gender roles, so it looks like we're both sitting this one out..."

I remember the following exchange from a novel I liked:

Female character: You're not going to tell me that I can't go on this mission because you're worried about me, are you?

Male character: Of course I'm worried about you. I'm worried that you might hurt your hand while beating the $#!+ out of me if I tried to stop you from going on this mission.

Brainy's cold, analytical mind does it again! Time for Imra to make him almost cry again.

Actually, I just remembered Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, a situation where Abby was hesitant to go.

I'm paraphrasing:

Abby: Aren't you going to tell me it's too dangerous, and I should stay behind?

Swamp Thing: I have... too much respect... for you... and your strength.... The idea... would be... ludicrous.

Abby: Ludicrous. right...
