Do you see ANY similarities between these two characters? Other than the fact that Timber Wolf has no adamantium claws?!

NOTE:
Wolverine is a member of the New Avengers,so do you think Timber Wolf should be a member of the Justice League?

Well, Wolverine is 'the best at what he does'... can Brin say that? [Wink]

Wolverine is not only a member of the New Avengers... but also the X-Men, the Astonishing X-Men, the Uncanny X-Men and having his own adventures.

So, I think your question should be -- do you think Timber Wolf should be a member of the JLA, JSA and Outsiders... and have his own book? [Wink]

Abin: You know what to do with a Cali sandwich? No but neither do Cobie and CJ!
CJ: Yeah, we do. She's smiling, isn't she?

Context... who needs it?

Didn't Cockrum use the 70s timberwolf as his template when he fleshed out the Wolverine character after going over to marvel.

In effect Timberwolf is the beta version of Wolverine.

Dave had created the character of Wolverine.

Seen here to the right of his sister, Belladonna, as a member of the (recently named) Strangers, a group of villains that were to plague the Legion if Dave hadn't been lured to Marvel away from the Legion.

 -

According to Dave when he went to Marvel, he had discussed many of the characters he had already created including Wolverine with many of the staff, Roy Thomas & Len Wein among them. Shortly thereafter Roy had Len create the Wolverine we all know for an issue of the INCREDIBLE HULK.

As to the topic, here's my version of the confrontation -

Wow thanks Gary, that's cool. You can see a lot of elements that later went into the Shiar empire/guard and the Starjammers in that.

By the way, Gary, the Dave Cockrum picture of Tyr and his cohorts, when was it drawn? I can barely make out the year reference...

It would be so great if Dave could get back to that sort of artistry again.

1972. Two years before Marvel's Wolverine.

The art at that time was pure dynamite! Its hard to believe that was done that long ago...There is a subtle reminder of Lilandra in the Belladonna character - no doubt the precursor to the later Shi'ar Empire graphics.

And that proto Wolverine ended up at Marvel as fang. [Smile]

Maybe DC should buy these characters from Dave today and have them as a new villain team for this Legion. [Smile] (well Tyr already is in DC)

Caliente raised a intereseting point...

What if Brin Londo was a member of these teams:

NAME BRIN USES---DCU TEAMS
Timberwolf-------Legion of Superheroes
Timber Wolf------Justice League of America
Dark Wolf--------Justice Society of America and All-Star Squadron*
Lone Wolf--------Suicide Squad

*Filling the void of the Golden Age Batman maybe?

Ahhhhh - what could'a, should'a...

That great illustration just confirms what we all already know - Dave Cockrum is a great artist and was way ahead of his time!
