I'll be in Minneapolis from March 25th to March 29th for the Public Library Association conference. Are there any Legion Worlders in the Twin Cities area?

Not as many as there use to be...

I know of one other, but she hasn't been seen 'round these parts in a while.

The question Legion World is dying to know to answer to is... Did Rockhopper Lad twirl around and toss a beret in the air while an old woman looks on with disapproval?

I live in Minneapolis.

There's a statue of MTM doing that in downtown Mini Apple o'Ice, Quis. Whenever I had any visitors, they always wanted to see the statue and visit the Mall of America. They always seemed more impressed with the statue.

CJ, how many of them recreate the scene?

As a matter of fact, yes I did! [Big Grin]

The MTM statue is half a block from my hotel.

What did you say to the old woman who looked on with disapproval?

Eat it, Grandma! [Big Grin] [Wink]

Now what excitement is happening in the Public Library Association conference? Have the Deweyphiles reigned in the Boston Librarians? Who got shushed first? I'll bet it was the Miami contingent.

The PLA conference was great! Paula Poundstone gave the closing address and we were in stitches!

I had my picture taken by the MTM statue. When my friend who took it sends me a copy, I'll post it. [Big Grin]

I had one friend (from out your way Quis) that actually brought a beret with him so he could do his best.

Rocky, did you get to the Walker Art Center or the Sculpture Garden?

And here it is!

CJ, I didn't really get to do much outside the conference, alas. A couple of my colleagues did get to the Walker though.

Hey Rockhopper--I was at the PLA conference! I just got back home last night. A co-worker of mine and I conducted a Talk Table on Thursday afternoon. I think we walked in the vicinity of the MTM statue a couple of times, but didn't actually see it. I'd been to the Twin Cities once before, briefly...this was the first time I got to experience the downtown area, and the nightlife. It was really fun...especially since it never snowed like they predicted!

Well for heaven's sake! I knew there were other librarians here, but I wasn't sure who they were! What was your Talk Table about?

I'm not actually a librarian--I'm our Public Relations/Marketing guy. Our library system is the biggest in Mississippi, and we're just south of Memphis...at the conference, we presented a short film we produced about the trips crews from our libraries took down to the MS gulf coast to help some of the libraries down there that had been ravaged by Katrina. I didn't actually go down there, but I helped a friend edit the footage. It's up on youtube now...
