Adam Hughes! This was a sketch done for someone at a recent convention. I snagged it from the Adam Hughes fan yahoo group. Don't really know why I chose to color the background red. Just felt like it.

She's gorgeous here ... but that huge "P" never quite worked for me. A Silver-Age necessity, I suppose, to denote one of the Good Guys (of whatever gender), and the surrounding color helps offset it, but it's a little too strong.
Especially in placement. I felt the same way about Dave Cockrum's otherwise striking redesign (his original depiction, 188 KB) of Ms. Marvel, later Warbird. Her lightning bolt ran left shoulder, right breast, left breast, lower right torso. It was dramatic ... but it accentuated too much of what really didn't need doing so.
... Well, except for a hormone-charged teenager, o'course {g}
