Yay!! Now that we have our own home we could finally get some cats. We adopted to kittens from the local SPCA, both from the same litter. They are both black female Domestic Shorthairs, very curious and friendly. One is called Sabbath and the other is called Loki. We`ve only had them a few days, but they are already starting to answer to their names. I`ll post a few pics later on if anyone is interested.

declawing isn't as inhumane as it sounds....
Congrats on the new house and kitties. We just moved back in after 5 displaced months due to fire and decided, yes, time for kitty to become less lethal to the new furniture. Her own fault really, since she refused to learn to use the scratch post.
No problem whatsoever. She's happy as ever, even a little friendlier. Maybe I'll threaten her with a tooth extraction; she if she gets even nicer.

Congrats on the new kitties. When do we see the pictures.
Saw a comic strip about how to get a cat to use a scrathing post. A woman presents the scratching post to the cat "Now Fluffy, you are not to touch this. This is a no-no." Woman then shows the cat a couch. "I've gotten you this expensive and rare antique sofa for your clawing." The final panel shows the cat using the scratching post.

I've cat-sat for a friend for short periods of time, and really enjoyed it -- mostly because the cat was so affectionate and easy-going. I haven't really taken the next step of actually getting a cat of my own, but might someday.

Catsitting is inhumane! Sit on someone your own size, you brute! ( No , that's not a proposition, either. Try Lardy )
Congrats on the brats, Deddy! And good job on getting them both the same colo(u)r -- I have a 17 yr. old black cat and an 8 yr. old orange tabby. So one or the other shows up on EVerything.

Congrats on the cats! We have a 4 month old male black kitten named Ashe. He's awesome. Fun and affectionate, curious and messy! Our older, female grey tabby Zelda still doesn't like him much. I love how when he walks, he has a lion's gate, as I've seen on tv.
Oh, he's solid black except a v shaped white patch at his crotch! We call it his speedo! hah!
