I'll probably watch for it at my local Barnes and Nobles...they usually have a lot of this stuff in their used area.

I'd love to pick this up, but it might be a bit much for the ol' budget at this time. Maybe later...

i'm very [Mad] !!!

i was in London yesterday [ for a mangers meeting ] and i went to "Forbidden Planet" [ the comic shop ] to get the latest comics [ which i did ] but i also saw that, they had the Alex Ross "Mythology" book !!!

but they only had one copy left .... and it had been read many times through the day !!!! when i asked fro a new one they said that was the last one for today [Mad] !!!

i phoned my comic store in Manchester and they don't have it yet !!! maybe in the next week or so ..... don't you hate it when that happens !!!

Got it in New York! [Big Grin]

It's beautiful. [Smile] Well, worth the trouble you're having getting it Matthew.

I'm considering it but don't know if its worth it. What was the price, if I can ask. Just shot my budget replacing my laptop and don't know if Caroline will let me buy an expensive book too.

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

It's $35 U.S./$53 Canada. It's also got an exclusive 8-page Superman/Batman story called "Trust." I can't wait to have some time to read it.

Posted by Lightning Lad on :

Hmm. And its only $24.50 on Amazon with free shipping. I'm going to have to really think about this one.

Posted by Greybird on :

$24.50? That's maddening, isn't it? You have to throw in something to get the order over the $25.00 threshold for free shipping. I've encountered that before.

I'd add in a $2 used videotape (I've built up my collection with that), but those are from Amazon-affiliated sellers, not Amazon itself, and they don't count for free shipping.

I was actually already considering another item for a friend for Christmas (the boxed set of DnD's new core rulebooks) that already would have gotten me free shipping. I went ahead and bit the bullet and order both the rulebooks and the Ross book. Now I just have to wait for the free shipping which they claim will get me the items by November 10 or 15.

and here it is .....

this is what Alex Ross say's about about his "Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes" litho print ....

"This is one of my single favourite paintings. Call it fanboy love. My particular obsession with Shadow Lass influenced other character designs from my childhood.

This wasn't a commissioned piece initially; i just did it because i loved the characters and i was thrilled when Warner Bros. Studio Stores made it into a Giclee print.

How can you not love the Legion ? They're young, they're idyllic, they glem with innocent sexuality. Lots of intertwining. It's the super hero comic as college fashion show"

nice tribute by Mr Ross !!!

Amazon, for some reason, is not shipping mine out for another week. I don't know if they are still waiting for stock to come in or on the other item I ordered at the same time. But I can't wait until it arrives.

This looks great and I must have it!!!!!

Thanks for posting some images, Matt -- it's almost easy to take Ross' art for granted because we all know it's amazing and he produces mew stuff all the time, but seeing these images gives me newfound admiration. Good to see he's such a Legion fan too!

Btw, is that the buzz-cutted Starboy below Wildfire?

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

Well, I've got two of these. The regular edition that I bought in New York and the Deluxe Edition I had ordered at my comic shop that came in a week and a half ago.

The Deluxe comes with an old fashioned Captian Marvel Airplane and the cover and jacket are switched from the regular edition.

yeah it is THOM !!!

in the latest issue of "WIZARD" this is what Alex says about the Legion of Super Heroes .....

"love'em, especially the bikini costumes from the 70's. I would love to do a project with them someday"

i'd love to see a TABLOID size edition of the LEGION !!!

Matthew.

The actual book cover for the deluxe is the Superman/Batman images of the dustjacket for the regular. The DC heroes vs. Villains cover is then the dust jacket for the deluxe.

Even though there's only one page or so of Legion greatness in the book, the most interesting tidbit for me was that the Legion Legacy almost played a greater role in Kingdom Come.

Here's some sketches of unused KC characters:

thanks for the info Gary !!!

i would have liked to have seen more of the LEGION in "Kingdom Come" ......

Matthew.

Posted by the boy with UltraPowers on :

btw .... on the same page as those LEGION sketches, there was a "Village People" group of heroes, that looked like a funny idea [Laugh Out Loud] ....

did you spot that, Gary ???

Matthew.
