Over at newsarama, it looks like everybody is suing everybody else in the comics world. Why should the combined forces of the LMBP and LW be left out?

We could start by suing the X-Men Message Board.

No, we'd need to sue another board that has a Legion sub-board. Like the Legion of Super-Heroes Message Board. Or, better yet, the DCMBs. That would be like Fox suing Warner over The Watchmen.

Why not go after the company itself for misuse of the franchise.

I say we take Time/Warner/AOL/Car X/Beatrice down!
(or whoever the faceless megacorp is that currently owns DC comics)

Suing DC would be great for misusing the franchise!

First that would confirm Tamper Lad's accussation that Legion fans are the biggest nerds in comics.

Second, that will prove it's not the Legion's fault. Waid made a comment stating that if his reboot doesn't save the Legion he thinks they are done. It's DC fault...not the Legion's!

Maybe we should do like those english cities that try to buy their soccer teams. If all the LW members donate $100 bucks we may be able to buy a seat as EIC of the Legion. Still part of the DCU but with veto power. [Wink]

There's a game designer, Wolfgang Baur, who has what he calls 'Open Design.' Various fans send him money to become 'patrons,' and then they all get to vote on what gaming adventure he's going to write for them, and the people who pay the larger patron fees get to quibble and dicker with him on his message boards throughout the entire design process, suggesting improvements, tweaks and pet peeves.

I can't imagine a comic book being able to be run that way, given the art costs (although the way digital art is shaping up, that could come way the hell down in the next 10 years), but it could be an interesting notion.

"Yeah, Mr. David? Here's what I want to see in the next issue of X-Factor. I know you've got 750 other patrons, and it'll have to be voted on, but I think Monet should be the one who got knocked up, because Siryn's already got enough stuff going on, and it would be neat to see the shoe on the other foot as Siryn becomes the one in charge and Monet is the one freaking out."

With Legion tryouts and BITS and fan-submitted costume designs and readers voting for Legion leader, this team pretty much invented the concept of reader participation in a comic book, so it would be interesting to see that come back at some scale.
