Everytime I check out this thread, I forget to remember to say what great stuff this is Drake. Well, no more! Thanks for posting this for us to check out. I can't wait to see the pre-boot piece, you big tease.

Same here, Drake. Show us, already!!! {g} ... I'd be inclined to have this stay, de facto, your own fan-art thread. Every such artist deserves his or her own, or threads by project, such as "Legion Park" or Mondo Joe's movie posters.

Drake, as others have said, your work is great!! Keep it up, and be sure to work on that Garth shot. And if you want it to be a Garth and Imra picture, with Imra in her pink bikini and disco boots... I could live with that.
Draw what feels right to you. I think your second Wildfire picture is one of your best works you posted here. Your love of the character really shows in the quality of your work. Damn I wish I could draw (even my stick figures look malnourished...).

Wow! I had to register here to post this. Drake, this stuff is amazing. With all the garbage being published in comics today, why the hell aren't you penciling something?!?! Beautiful stuff. Keep it up.

Yeah, I'll second that emotion! Advertising storyboards are an underrated need and specialty, but are not enough for your talents, methinks. Why aren't YOU drawing Drake for DC? -- I asketh myself.
Stunning, that's all I can really say. Even the choices of that ueber-blasting in-control Wildfire, a lovely and well-formed Dawny, and Ultra Boy evoke my own modern intro to the Legion, when I picked up "LSH" v2 n284 in late '81. (Also Levitz's re-intro to writing the Legion.) So that group means a -lot- to me.
Would you happen to have a larger version even yet of your Dawnstar here? Or, hell's bells, of the whole picture? If you do and can e-mail either to me, I would be most beholden ...

I hear you Grey -- Wildfire, Dawnstar and Ultra-Boy as the "advance team" flying ahead of a Legion cruiser was a stable for what was my "glory days" of the Legion.
I'll gladly send a larger version if you want Grey, but I warn you Dawnstar was meant to be out of focus.

Oh yeah, and the reason I'm not drawing for DC is that if I were, there'd be a lot of angry posts here about how much more page-space Drake was getting than everyone else in every issue and he'd be on top of the "Five MUST Die!" poll
There'd also be compaints about me missing deadlines, I'm sure -- a monthly grind is pretty hard to do and I like my pretty lucrative, but not too time-comsuming existence as a freelance hack in the tv ad biz
