WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IN ORDER TO ENJOY MEL&tLSH
1. It is set in the post-boot continuity, which found itself Legion-less following the Titans/Legion special.
2. It follows the events that take place in Matter-Eater Lad: The Series # 1-20, though no knowledge of MEL:TS is required. All will be explained as the story progresses.
3. Our research indicated that both DREAMER and ANDROMEDA were not sucked into the limbo that took away the post-boot Legion. And, of course, THUNDER had taken a leave of absence following Legion of the Damned and was not present.

TIDBIT! Legion ally Uncle Space was once known as Uncle Sam, the living embodiment of the "Spirit of America". Over the course of 1000 years, he eventually evolved into Uncle Space, the living embodiment of the spirit of the United Planets.
TIDBIT! Former Legion financier R.J. Brande was not informed about the Legion's reformation, and is apparently not very happy about being left out of the loop.
TIDBIT! Could dead Legionnaire Gim "Leviathan" Allon be set for a return of colossal proportions?
TIDBIT! Former Legionnaire Kinetix has returned to her human appearance after spending some time in a strangely evolved form thanks to the plots of Ra's al Ghul.
We meet Uncle Space,the living embodiment of the spirit of the United Planets. He is protecting UP space from Dominator spies, who have been streaming in since the Legion was lost in limbo a year ago.
Uncle Space is also in contact with Tenzil Kem, who has relocated to Earth and is having the finishing touches placed on an all-new Legion HQ in Metropolis.
Tenzil has already reformed the Legion, but has not made any sort of official announcement or allowed the team to go on any missions, a fact which is hurting team morale, particularly among the greenest of the recruits like Nemesis Kid and Blast-Off and Tenzil's closest friends, Taryn "Calorie Queen" Loy and Lester "Currency Kid" Spiffany.
How the Legion reformed is not told, but it is strongly implied that former Legionnaire Dreamer, who was not present when the original LSH was lost to limbo, initiated the events with Tenzil Kem.
An emergency call from Metropolis Zoo (which has a direct line to the new Legion HQ for a reason not-yet explained) comes in. Tenzil sends in a team to investigate, and they encounter Murdermaton who has been sent there by a mysterious benefactor to steal a rare live witch wolf.
After a very public battle with Murdermaton, the all-new mostly-different Legion is officially outed!
Meanwhile, it is revealed that a mysterious man has kidnapped Tenzil's parents, Calorie Queen's father and Lester's father and sister.
As the new Legion meets the press for the very first time, Tenzil Kem meets with Earth President Marte Allon, mother of dead Legionnaire Gim "Leviathan" Allon. The meeting does not go well.
The new Legion, however, appears to be a hit with both the United Planets AND the few remaining member worlds of the Affiliated Planets, and requests for help flood in.
Teams are sent to Aleph, Toonar and Brogg, while Dreamer and Hate-Face remain at HQ on monitor duty.
While team Aleph encounters former Legionnaire Kinetix and her two new friends, Team Toonar walks right into what is apparently a Dominator trap.
Meanwhile, Team Brogg is captured by 3 beings who resemble limbo-lost Legionnaires Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Live Wire!
At HQ, Hate-Face and Dreamer are attacked by the monstrous Organus. After seemingly defeating him, both Organus and Hate-Face disappear from the HQ, leaving behind a perplexed Dreamer.
It is revealed that the mysterious kidnapper has now apprehended Braino of Mrynah's mother.
# 3 begins as the final post on page 3 of the MEL/LSH thread.

On Aleph, Ambassador Dowal reveals that the true reason the Legion has been called in is to judge former Legionnaire Kinetix and young upstart Supervision in a contest to see which one deserves to be admitted into the all-new Legion.
Kinetix loses the contest when she decides saving a Legionnaires' life is more important than winning. She is invited to return to Earth with the Legionnaires, but not before Sun Boy punches Ambassador Dowal for the trouble he has caused .
Meanwhile, it seems that the reason Supervision was involved in the contest at all was to get her hands upon the powerful Emerald Eye of Ekron.
On Brogg, Calorie Queen's team is arrested by what appears to be the original 3 Legionnaires, Cosmic Boy, Lightning ad and Saturn Girl.
On Toonar, Matter-Eater Lad has contacted his ally Unlce Space and alerted him to their plight. Uncle Space assembles a team of "Freedom Fighters", heroic youths he has encountered on various worlds, to fight the Dominion invaders on Toonar.
A disgruntled Lori Morning, angry that the LSH will not return her calls, vows to form her own Legion, while inside LSH HQ Dreamer laments to disappearance of Hate-Face, and foresees the battle with the Dominion on Toonar.
And lastly, it is revealed that the mysterious kidnapper has now added Derek Morgna-- father of Sun Boy-- to his collection of LSH relatives.
