The radio station I listen to on my way to work in the morning has this thing where they play the listeners mix. You send in a list of 10 songs, and they play the list. I was thinking of creating a theme list and sending in 10 songs all tied to Superman.

Hoping you cats can help with a list. If I have a question mark next to either the title of the artist, in means I am not sure of theinfoand would appreciate a confirmation.

1. I am Superman - REM
2. Superman Inside - Eric Clapton
3. Jimmy Olsen's Blues - Spin Doctors
4. Kryptonite (?) - 3 Doors Down (?)
5. It's Not Easy (?) - (?)
6. Can you Read My Mind - (?) who did the pop version?
7.
8.
9.
10.

others? I need 10.

Well I believe someone name Donovan did a song named "Sunshine Superman".

And yes 3 Doors Down did "Kryptonite" and Five For Fighting did "It's Not Easy"

There's that song that goes:

I am no Superman,
I have no answers for you.
I am no hero,
Aw, that's for sure.
But I do know one thing:
Where you are is where I want to be.

I think it's called "Superman." Who's the artist?

didn't Laurie Anderson do a song called something like "O Superman"? And stretching my poor tired brain back to me brothers roapy musical tastye from the early 80's, I think sure Rick Springfield did a song called "I'm not your superman" though you may have to check that one.

Yep.

It was a huge hit in England in the early '80s, and one of the first videos I saw on MTV.

The Ass Pony's have a cool song called "Not Since Superman Died" but I doubt most radio stations have it.

I'm surprised noone has mentioned "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman" by The Kinks.

Maybe you already have this one, but it's by the Crashtest Dummies, I believe, with this line: "Superman never made any money saving the world from Solomon Grundy".

Maureen McGovern did the pop version of "Can You Read My Mind."

There's also "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman," the Superman musical starring Linda Lavin (of "Alice" fame) -- not as Lois.

There's also a beautiful song called "My Superman" on the soundtrack to the musical revue "The Gay 90s."

And Matchbox 20 did "Real World" which mentions him, but not by name. Crash Test Dummies did "Superman's Song." And "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman" by the Kinks and "Superman (Where Are You)" by Black Sabbath. (I did a little Yahooing.)

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Superman song. Crash Test Dummies' Superman Song is the best one around.

Tarzan wasn't a ladies' man
He'd just come along and scoop 'em up under his arm
Like that, quick as a cat in the jungle
But Clark Kent, now there was a real gent
He would not be caught sittin' around in no
Junglescape, dumb as an ape doing nothing

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Hey Bob, Supe had a straight job
Even though he could have smashed through any bank
In the United States, he had the strength, but he would now
Folks said his family were all dead
Their planet crumbled but Superman, he forced himself
To carry on, forget Krypton, and keep going

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Tarzan was king of the jungle and Lord over all the apes
But he could hardly string together four words: "I Tarzan, You Jane. "

Sometimes when Supe was stopping crimes
I'll bet that he was tempted to just quit and turn his back
On man, join Tarzan in the forest
But he stayed in the city, and kept on changing clothes
In dirty old phonebooths till his work was through
And nothing to do but go on home

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him
