I'm currently working on a lovely new sketch of Dream Girl, and it occured to me that she's the type of character that moms would generally not care for. Extremely beautiful, curvy, flirty, scantily clad, and full on sexy. Moms might think that this is not the type of character they want their little kids watching in cartoons.
So I got to thinking, what else about the Legion could be considered controversial? The kind of stuff that we're all really used to, or comfortable with, but that people new to the series would be put off by.

I would say any of the adult themes would upset those parents who think that because it is a comic book, it is for kids and is santized for kids.

LL probably shouldn't lose an arm, Triplicate Girl should only become Duo Damsel if one girl decides to quit and become a computo...I mean computer technician. The original stories would probably freak me out if I were a wee lad.
Maybe cartoon Dreamy will have a long silver turtleneck sweater?

I don't see much in the LSH stories into the 80's of much controversy by even today's conservative standards. When the cloths starting coming off and people started changing sex, well then there were a few things discussion worthy.
Those old Terrytoon and Warner Brothers cartoons of the 50's/60's hit some of the same controversial subjects on the front pages today (racism, roles of women, cannibalism) and even got a bit racy but did it in a way that really little kids wouldn't catch on. The art and animation blew away most anything on Network tv today and had classics in symphony and jazz playing throughout. Give me a Legion Animation along those lines.....
I look at a book like "Fables" and say this so could have been done in a way that parents, teens, and kids could have enjoyed and talked about together, but NOOOOooooo, they got to put Cinderella in there butt naked with Boo Bear and have Jack chopping heads off chickens.

The Giffen/Beirbaum version of Roxxas the Butcher. A murderer, schizophrenic, and Fabulous all at the same time--plenty for uptight parents to take offense at.

"Quiet Darkness": The God of Evil Incarnate ends up being a sympathetic character. Every red state would have Al Gordon burning in effigy. And don't get me started on the whole "Evolvo Problem"...!

I like wearing caps. My mom and all my friends' parents are fine with it.
But here's something my dad wasn't too fond of: How Brin's dad had experimented on him. He didn't think it was a very good thing to show younger kids because if their parents were scientists they'd probably stop trusting their parents...or at elast that's what he said.
