Still not sure where the current Legion is going...

Two of my favorite covers though in the TP's: the classic Brainiac/Lex Silver Age cover (my Dad had this before I was born and I always loved it), and the McFarlane Dominator cover which scarred the beejesus out of me and made me a fan of the Dominators for life. [Dominators]

Regarding the Invasion TP. I read Bill Mantlo was in a horrible accident back in the early nineties. The guy became a vegetable or something. This true?

While he wasn't my favorite writer he had so many runs I enjoyed greatly. Mostly his Alpha Flight, Micronauts, and Cloak & Dagger. Pretty sad. I've been rereading his Alpha Flight.

Re: LOSH #44. Love the cover. Love the preview. The Legion is lots about pacing. I think Shooter is very good at that.

Jorge, Bill Mantlo was hit by a car back in the early 90's. I believe he was in a coma for awhile and now is being cared for at an assisted living center.

That is sad to hear.

I'm excited about the Legion solict, mostly because I think we are about to see Invisible Kid shine and Shrinking Violet kick butt. I think Shooter is going to show that weak powers don't make weak Legionnaires, I know it's a story older fans have seen a million times, but I think it would be good for newer fans to see it too (and to get ME Lad and Bouncing Boy back on the team, practice what you preach Legion writers!). Of course that is just conjecture on my part judging by solicts, and we all know how accurate solicts are... Still, looks like a very exciting issue.

Invasion, is it any good? I was surprised to see a trade released for it and Millinium (especially since everything I heard about Millinium is that it is BAD). So should I think about maybe getting Invasion or not?

Oh, and LL I'm glad to hear you were just busy, when the solicts didn't show I was beginging to worry that something had happened.

what's up with the special variant cover stuff. come on DC, just make it 50/50.

as for weak powers. when used with imagination and daring they are very powerful. after all not only can Invisible Kid turn invisible various wave lengths, unlike Mr. Griffin he doesn't have to be naked.

Vi get some solo action! [Big Grin]

I'm sure the Invisible Kid story will end with T-Wolf admitting that weak powers can save the day. It's done before, but I don't think it's a bad thing because I was really beginning to think that Brin and Jeckie were going over to the dark side. It sounds like Brin, at least, is safe.

I wonder what the other cover will be.

DC/Wildstorm Dreamwar has had the the Legion in so far:

DC/WILDSTORM: DREAMWAR #4 (OF 6)

Written by Keith Giffen; Art by Lee Garbett and Trevor Scott; Cover by Dustin Nguyen

The DC and WildStorm Universes are colliding, forcing heroes from both sides to work together, much to their displeasure. But when this scuttles the plans of the mastermind behind it all, he ups the ante by bringing the DCU villains into the mix.

Wamu2 is correct about "weak" powers. In the 5YL period, Shrinking Violet took down the insane Dev-Em by shrinking into his ear--"Amazing what a little clawing and scratching in the ears can do, isn't it?"

I almost bought the comic book with Brainiac 1.0 and Lex Luthor... but the store owner told me it was $80. It wasn't until later that I found out he was joking and it was really only $3... darn it!

The superman 167 that originally bears the Brainiac/Luthor team-up cover could be worth 80 dollars or more if the comic was in pristine condition.

I enjoyed Invasion but since I bought a set of the issues out of a dollar bin recently, I won't be spending that much to get the TPB. It is a good story, one of the best crossover events DC has ever done. And it is interesting to see Todd McFarlane's art just before he became TODD MCFARLANE with his Spider-Man run.

As for Dream War I'm thinking that the Mastermind is none other than Brainiac 5.

I will always love, love, love Invasion for taking the seeds of ideas, most from the Legion, and planting them squarely in the "present day" DC universe. It tied the Legion beautifully to the present, without hamstringing either the present or the future. It made the Dominators the cool badasses they should always have been. And it sort of explained Earth's "exceptional" status in the universe without being all quasi-religious about it. And it told a truly sweeping epic story in a few jam-packed issues.

Another great Francis cover, btw. The background really evokes London during the blitz, at least for me. Who's the gal? Shvaughn? Zoe? L@n@ L@ng?

Didn't Duo Damsel take down Nemesis Kid once by splitting in two and thereby negating his ability to defeat any single opponent?
