Well, our longtime tradition (and one that I love) is to do LMB Tag Team tales that are always loaded with ideas and hysterical content.

It’s also turned into a tradition, though not on purpose, that most of these tag stories never get an ending. It’s almost part of the charm [Smile] However, I sometimes wonder what those endings would be like…

Over the last year and a half, we’ve had a good amount of them. Since it’s hard to pick up a story over a year later and run with it, it might be easier to come to a general consensus on how some of them might end…

It would, of course, be impossible to end any lingering plots on the Ongoing Tag Thread. Most of them ended at some point in the thread anyway.

There’s “Ms. Grundy Visits SHAKES”, which is one of my favorites, although I’d really like Abin Quank’s input on how that one would have ended, given that he was a major guiding force for that story. Vee too.

“The Return of Dev-Em” had an excellent set-up and eventually led to a what could be considered the beginning of the final act, with Piddlin’ Pup revealed as the main enemy. This one started with a couple of writers, but ended up being mainly Bevis and me keeping it alive. Anyway you have ended this one, Bevis?

“The All New, Not-so Different LMB Tag Thread”, which inspired this idea, also had a huge set-up that was approaching fruition. I just read through that today and can’t get over how funny a lot of it is…lots of ‘laughing my ass off moments’. Basically, it was set up that some mysterious force was attempting to use Pornis, Vaginimus and the mysterious child of Emerald Empress (and a gender-reversed Nads-Kicker Lass) for their own villainous purposes. Pornis also had his own plans with Penis Eradicator Lad (who could potentially kill him), and a giant rift that had opened up over Venus and threatened to destroy the universe posed the most major threat. The tag story had hit the point where just about all the LMBers in the story had met up.

“Tag Team: the Return” turned into a funny story about the LMB Super-Babies, but didn’t really have enough to it yet to produce an ending. Unless of course, someone had a few twists they were ready to throw it’s way…

“Crisis on Earth-4!”, which is one of my favorites we’ve ever done, was moving along good, but eventually fizzled out. This was mainly being carried by EDE, me and Far and Bevis. I have a few ideas of how I would have wanted this one to end myself.

“The Day Legion World Stood Still” was also one that was starting to pick up steam, with a major villain about to be revealed, but never hit that point. I know that Future, EDE and myself were all on the same page on who that villain was going to end up being.

“Universe Aflame” never really picked up enough steam to be a story, and neither did the most recent tag thread around Christmas (I was barely posting then in this forum at all, and don’t know if I even contributed).

“To Catch a Space Thief” still is very new and has the potential to go on for quite awhile, so no need to add anything there.

Crisis on Earth-4:

I really considered writing in the final end posts to this story, even if it meant that I was making it a Onevision, but that kind of goes against the spirit of the tag team thread.

Basically, we had gotten to the point where the LSV of Earth-4 had invaded Legion World on Earth-1 and captured the body parts and clothing of Ekron, to assemble Ekron himself again.

I was going to have the SMB of Earth-4 make some mystical connection to Earth-1 (a la the cover the JSA/JLA Silver Age team up with the crystal ball) and establish communication with the LMB. Aware of each other, they could begin plotting a plan together.

I then was going to have Thora of Earth-4, who obviously had her own plans, use Invisible Brainiac, who she had captured, to turn him into a high powered laser beam, and fire him on Lard Lord of Earth-4, who she hated for killing her lover, Cobalt Kid. She would shoot him into Earth-1 and totally murder Lard Lord (and IB of Earth-4 in the process). This burst of mega energy from the two deaths (as IB is light and Lardy is a conduit for the Lardforce) would explode outwards, which was part of the Trumpeter’s plan all along, who know Thora would be unable to control her impulses and attempt to double-cross Lard Lord. Thus, the Trumpeter would have the other members assemble the body parts of Ekron in Earth-1 and use the energy burst that was omitted into the universe to bring Ekron himself back to life.

It would be Faraway Lad of Earth-1 and Faraway Lad of Earth-4, who had some sort of secret deal with the mysterious Phantom Stranger, who came up with the plan of action. Basically, it was hinted that the Faraway Lad’s of all Earths had some secret deal with the Phantom Stranger, who existed between all of these worlds and had no counter-part. I was hoping to establish the Phantom Stranger as a recurring LMB character that was very much an enigma and had a mysterious identity (I actually have a great idea for who he is, but will wait until I can someday explain it in a Onevision). The Faraway Lad’s, through their unique powers, are the only ones who have the ability to travel from Earth to Earth (like the Flashes of the Silver Age DCU).

Then, the Stranger and the Far’s would be able to unite the LMB with the SMB and a cataclysmic battle would take place with the massively powered Ekron (thinking along the lines of Anti-Monitor/Galactus type power level).

Crisis on Earth-4 (cont'd)

At some point while this was going on, I wanted to explore a few glaring points of continuity:

1. The Amber/Umber switch- which would have occurred when Cobalt Kid and Thora of Earth-4 had the baby Amber, until Lard Lord showed up and killed Cobalt (and Loser Lad of Earth-4), and then threatened to kill the baby. Thora, who had the science to open the door to Earth-1, did so accidently to save her child, but it was too theoretical at the time, and only did so by opening a portal to the other dimension 15 years in the past. This screwed with the universal tapestry just enough to cause the explosion that then caused Umber (who is actually the daughter of Earth-1’s Cobalt and Thora) to go back through the portal to Earth-4.

Thus, Amber arrives on Earth-1 and Umber on Earth-4, and both are raised by socialite parents. Eventually Umber would try to learn of her origins, and make her way to Thora’s lab (in Earth-4) and her and the boyz would somehow find out about Amber, decide they want to meet her and somehow trigger the doorway to Earth-1 to open again, but this time it mysteriously works. That was in the LMB’s Year Three, and how Umber came to Earth-1. For the last two years in continuity, Thora of Earth-4 and the Trumpeter researched how to repeat the process and eventually do—which is how this tale really begins, with them having his ability.

2. The Emerald Nelly Cap of Ekron- Another long-term LMB plot is whether the Nelly Cap that EDE wears is the Emerald Nelly Cap of Ekron, which made it’s way to Earth-1 within Amber’s space-ship 15 years in the past. I’m obviously looking to EDE for this one, to see if he wants to flesh this out.

There would also have to be the showdown between the LSV and the two mega teams. The LSVers that would still be alive were the Trumpeter, Golden Shower, the Stalker, Glamous Puss (the Earth-4 Lucien Lad) and Thora.

I’m thinking it would have ended with the SMB and the LMB deciding they should meet up once every year for a team-up to learn more about one another. This way, we can continue to flesh out the SMB and Earth-4 at our own convience, since there is a *ton* of throwaway story ideas that we’ve added in (i.e. Linda Lake and Lash married, how the team had been ‘dissassembled’ at some point in their past, etc.).

Of course, another major point would have to be how EDE of Earth-1 ends up with his own luck lord from now on, who comes to him when he says the word “Jeepers!”.

And then one final bit of fun could be the set-up for future team ups, like on Earth-2 (DCU), Earth-3 (Marvel U), and all kinds of other strange Earths. It would also be interesting to see what the other Earth ‘versions’ of Faraway Lad would be, since all of the Far’s have some connection to the Stranger and work together with him.

EDE, I just read a little more of "Crisis on Earth-4!" and realize I might be a little off on some of the details regarding the Nelly Cap, the Amber/Umber switch and if the Nelly Cap is needed to complete the recreation of Ekron. I'm sure you have some of your own ideas on how to make that work... [Wink]

As I recall, my original intention was that there were actually two Ekrons, one for each Earth, but as the story went along I gradually abandoned that idea.

Basically, my thought was that EDE of Earth-1 always had the ability to summon the Luck Lord, but was prevented from doing so by the Emerald Nelly Cap (which scared the Luck Lord away). Eventually, once Ekron's body parts and clothes were re-assembled, which would require getting the Nelly Cap away from EDE, he would discover his own Luck Lord-summoning capacity, which would then play a key role in defeating Ekron.

At the end they would "de-power" the nelly cap, so that he could keep both it and the Luck Lord.

BTW Eryk, I just reread through Crisis on Earth-4, and I think it's one of my favorite tag threads. It's just burting with ideas!

What I didn't realize is that we kind of set-up that the Phanton Stranger was behind the Amber/Umber switch, knowing full well that it would one day lead to Thora of Earth-4 breaking the barrier of both worlds, so the SMB and LMB could become allies.

I hope to use the SMB again in an upcoming Mega Onevision event I have in my head (lately I've been having delusions of being the LMB's Grant Morrison...more on that later).

Will that be 7 distinct mini Onevisions with a wrap around OneVision as bookends to tie it all together? [Big Grin]

Actually, it will be eight distinct Onevisions, with one larger Onevision bookend afterwards (and four quick interludes in between!) [Big Grin]

For some strange reason, I appear to have lost my mind recently when I started coming up with this stuff. The larger second half of the story will be a bigger story that the first eight little ones kind of lead into...

Only with the LMB characters could I have ever gotten the motivation to be so creative [Wink]
