Okay, so in the early months of the LMB, the earliest LMBers did a tag-team story called 5 Years Later that attempted to map out the future of the LMB TMK-style. In that you learned what would be the fates of such still-active LMBers as Lard Lad, Cobalt Kid and Shark Lad and many others who've since gone by the wayside such as Lumber Fox, Goon Boy and Hardshell the Turtle Boy.

Lardy, for example, is shown to have settled down, married and raising children. Later stories I wrote would expose this as a lie as the Lardy we see in that tagteam is actually Lardy's old Protean pet Pro-D (yes, inspired by Garth=Proty) who took over Lardy's life after Lardy was apparently killed (something known only to Pro-D). Ultimately, Lardy was found alive, but unbeknownst to the LMB, he was plotting their downfall and galactic conquest in a yet-to-be-written story called "Reign of the Dark Lard".

Is 5YL the future of the LMB? Well, Cobie and Lardy have always thought so, but it's open for debate. One bone of contention has always been the 'unexplained' absence of such later luminaries as EDE, the Quank family, Caliente and Rockhopper Lad among many, many, MANY others because, well, when the story was written, no one knew who would join later. Hell, no one knew the LMB would still be around nearly a decade later!

This apparent continuity problem can be explained very easily, however, by saying that the characters who gather in the story were simply the first to show, just as many characters from TMK didn't appear until later.

So with that in mind, whether you see 5YL as THE future or a POSSIBLE future, where might the LMB find your character(s)...5 Years Later?

As for whatever happened to Clive? Hmmm...let's just say he's not in the picture five years later. Does this mean he's dead? Well, that's certainly one possible interpretation...

5YL was the then-future of the Original LMB of an alternate timeline, but a timeline that ceased to be the future when the Caliente of 2013, having gained Pov-nic Awareness after saving the universe from the Mayan Angel Lous in the Dec 21, 2012 Crisis of Yucatanistan, travelled back in time to prevent the conception of Cobalt Kid's son with Donna Troy, the Child Who Would Have Out-Darkseided Darkseid.

But aspects of the 5YL of the LMB do remain on Earth-86.

Believe it or not, I've actually thought about this!

The obvious answer is that sometime in the intervening years, Rocky's father has abdicated or died and Rocky has become Emperor Pyngwyn.

I'm not sure that I like this idea, though, for many reasons.

I tend to see the 5YL story as a possible future rather than what will definitely happen. I like the idea of the future being a blank slate. So, I don't know that I would say definitively what becomes of Rocky.

5YL, EDE has ascended to being a godlike being, ala Pornis and the One Called the One. He plays chess with the Anti-Moderator on Thursdays, but generally he involves himself in preserving the fragile cosmic balance between order and chaos an all that jazz.

Which of the 5.2 universes is this question relating to?

5YL Language Arts Lad teaches Super-heroic Rhetoric, Interaction with the Media, Non-violent Conflict Resolution, Non-verbal Communication and Popular Literature at the LMB Academy. Next term he is attempting to introduce a seminar in Shakespearean Tragedy- Avoiding Becoming the Tragically-flawed Hero. This Fall he'll be teaching a new class- Graphic Novels from Earth-4 Written Around the Turn of the Millennium.

He does not have a tower, but he does have tenure.

Hm, I think its a fair bet to establish Cobalt also plays chess with EDE on Wednesdays and CJ Taylor on Tuesdays. What does that mean exactly? Well, Cobalt never talks about it.

5YL for Yk?
Necklines are down, hemlines are up and profits are through the roof. Sure it would have been fun to have given in to the dark forces that took over and made me into Yellow King (conquering the Universe, forced nudity, the bacchanalia-that-never-ends and other fun stuff) but I'm having so much fun designing supervillian costumes and accessories and RAKING in the money, what with reboots and alternate universes business has NEVER been so good!

This spring season universe conquering villians recieve an extra ten percent off if they buy costumes for their henchmen too.
