I thought it would be easier to create a Roll Call thread that would be easy to look at rather than continuing to interrupt the story with updates. Please respect the choices of the “creator” (the poster that introduced the character to the story) and don’t change the codenames as listed unless you clear it with that poster first! Feel free to amend, correct, edit, add, etc. If I screwed anything up please let me know and I’ll correct it! ~ Vee

Following is an up to date Roll Call of the Legionnaires & supporting characters (or at least as up to date as I can get it!) Characters names are followed by historical LSH names and the poster that introduced them into the thread in parenthesis and then by their “21st Century Legion” codename and location using the following format:

Metropolis? I thought we were using New York City as the Legion's base of operations (but I might be wrong).

And I don't think I'll make Shikari out of the Colombian guerilla, it just doesn't seem right. I'll just let Ramiro Puerta die of his injuries...

So, Shikari is as of now officially up for grabs.

I think we've used both NYC & Metroplis in the story.

BTW, a big thanks to gary for adding all the links to each character last night. Thanks Gary, you rock! [Hug]

It is all good fun. If anyone objects to keeping Satin Girl for Irma, please let me know.

Also because there seems to be some mystery about exactly what/who Blok is. I envision him as being a part of the consciousness of the Earth itself, broken off to fight the Emerald Eye. I like the mode of travel given to him, but I would say that he shouldn't have any more powers than the Original Blok (but we can keep the travel power)

Posted by LoneWolfLondo on :

Keep the travel power, it makes Blok interesting.
What if he were the current champion of the Parliament of Stones? (from Millar's Swamp Thing)

Or a golem, summoned to oppose Mordru in the name of the innocents he slaughtered, cuz you just KNOW innocents had to be slaughtered!

Oh yeah, and how about Ramiro Puerta rising from the grave as the 21st century Tomb?
Or do we have to wait for the 21st century reboot for him?
[Confused]

Sure! Go for it! (I don't exactly know who Tomb is, but I'm sure I'll find out in the story...)

BTW, sorry for the lateness of my part of the story; my main computer crashed, and with it, my pictures, fanfics, and music, and, for a moment, my desire to write anything. Still, expect the next installment either today or tomorrow.

As for my character's codenames, the only one with one is Ferro for Douglas. Also, I'm done using Clark (he's the alien trapped in Cadmus Labs). Anybody wants to free him for personal use, be my guest.

I've officially codenamed the Workforce now, BTW, and given them symbols. [And Vee, Gates has escaped, and is in Australia with Starboy. For now...]

McCauley's Workforce:

Laurel Gander (a.k.a. Laurel Gand) (Andromeda ~ M'Onel) - Andromeda
Eileen "Ella" Raines (Spark ~ HWW) - Spark
Paul Kline (Magnetic Kid “Pol” ~ HWW) - Polarity
Jose Rimbaud (Ultra Boy ~ Proty II) - Ultraboy
The boy who could reflect attacks (Reflecto ~ SoM) - Reflecto
Female telepath (Esper Lass ~ SoM) - Enrapture
Magic user (Dragon Mage ~ SoM) - Dragonmage

And yes, as I PMed to Vee, I checked where I needed to where I made codename changes.

Symbols:

Andromeda:
 -

Dragonmage:
 -

Enrapture:
 -

Polarity:
 -

Reflecto:
 -

Spark:
 -

Ultraboy:
 -

Oh, and is anyone still reading the 21st C thread?

Sorry, SoM... I know I said I would, but I really haven't had that much free time lately, what with summer activities and family affairs... Geez, I almost wish it wasn't summer anymore! (Okay, I can't believe I just said that! Somebody slap some sense into me!)

I promise I'll finish it when I get the chance, but don't hold your breath... I'm really sorry, guys. But keep up the great work on the thread!

Don't be sorry IB, I'd rather know that you were out having a good summer than doing plot summaries!

Someone else can do it, there must be at least one or two people bored at work [Wink] !

Well, I'm not touching that - there's stuff I want to read on the thread, and stuff I want to write, and the Eye thread is a "read" [Smile]

With one soon-to-be notable exception, I'm not writing about the Legionnaires anyway, except as "guest appearances" [Smile]

After he confronted McCauley like that? I doubt it [Smile]

Go read the chapter on Mano again for what McCauley does to people who he doesn't like. It doesn't involve a large cheque and a spot for the ugly guy on what's bascially a PR job [Smile]

Posted by Sanity or Madness? on :

He flew up to him, with a strongly implied threat if he didn't get to join the team. McCauley's not going to say, "Of course, here's some tea and biccies" [Smile]

The way I see McCauley here is that the lives of those under him are literally nothing to him. Only the cash they bring in. He formed the Workforce as an advertising stunt basically, with the best-looking metahumans he had, and then maneouvered that into the "Protection Plan" thing so he can get a few extra million into the bargain. He's not immoral, he's amoral. The public team aren't going to get their hands particularly dirty because if anything got out, some of his myriad products might get boycotted. Not because of any concern for their mental or physical wellbeing [and certainly, at least one or two of them are going to be "talked" into stuff they aren't going to enjoy, which I've already hinted at.], just because it's inconvienient.

Which is why he's formed the private team with Mano and a few others, who're programmed to deny any connection with him if captured, and who he can plausibly deny.

Sofia, as in Wind-dancer? Good job bringing in non-Legion characters, 'Boot. Love how you're writing Dani as well. I don't read the X-Men titles, but your inclusion of them has actually made me interested.

New characters are intriguing. The flier's interesting - is she based on Shrike? And the blonde - light powers, maybe?

Yep. I mentioned her in passing here (the "In Venezuela,..." line at the bottom of the post*), first established her by name here, and she debuted properly in Opening Day [Smile]

[*Of the rest of that list, "In India" was a reference to Cobalt's use of Kid Psycho; while Hong Kong was Sul/Reflex (Amp Girl), Japan was Surge, Canada was Gear, Massachusetts was Wildfire and "below a desert" was McCauley's captives in general. Otherwise, England was Chamber, who I haven't got round to using yet, and I can't actually remember who the Madagascar one was in reference to offhand...]

Well, the X-Characters in the Academy (like Dani) are mostly based on NXM: Academy X circa 2004/5 rather than anything more recent (where they're even appearing!)

Technically, they both fly [Smile]

The winged girl's actually a one-shot Spider-Man character from 1997 (who, so far, I've only mentioned in passing in "Opening Day"). And as for the blonde, well, the clue's in another character's micro... [Wink] [powers are taken from another DC character, but not really anything else from her]

Nice foreshadowing there. Madagascar, hmmm. Prodigy (David)? Computp (Danielle)?

PS Awesome use of Gates and Shikari. I can just imagine Gates telling TOB to shut up. Love the continued Star Boy - Gates friendship, and Gates leaving to get Sofia at the end was a nice touch. And Kari trying not to use her "...Legion" nicknames.

Nah, it was someone with animal-ish powers, not super-smart powers (besides, David would be American, and Jacques & Danielle Foccart had already been established by Big Bad/Ian Lad, who asked for a moratorium on anyone else using them... and then never came back! Cobalt eventually picked them up for one of his still-unfinished stories [Smile] . Plus, I wouldn't want two characters named Danielle to avoid the inevitable confusion).

I also have the feeling it was someone particularly young, black, and possibly with turning-into-animal powers rather than just strength/speed. Probably never remember who exactly, though.

Ta. TOB was Comet Queen, BTW - Cobalt asked me to establish her for his use (with Lamprey - only named as "Tanya" or "the green girl" - as her pal). And my take on Gates is that he's someone who can't help helping people - he'll moan like hell about doing it, sure, but he'll go out of his way to help pretty much anyone.

As for Kari's speech pattern, that gave me a LOT of trouble, since going entirely without meant it didn't sound like her enough, but I couldn't justify too much of it since most of the people she's interacting with aren't Legionnaires! What you see in the end was the best compromise I could manage [Smile]

Ta. Although Surge has something fairly unpleasant to come that I was kinda-sorta building to with the mentions of Gear's collar for her being temporary - though while that's all plotted out, it's also meant to tie in with Cobalt's big Event that he's never got round to writing.*

At least your postings have given me a bit of a kick to try and sort out that Andromeda dangler [Smile]

[*And, Cobalt, I saw you in the Recent Visitors for this thread the other day. Any comments on that? [Big Grin] ]

And since this a roll call thread, I might as well end by listing all the characters I have noted, huh? Only counting characters seen/named "on-camera", and not parsing through Cobalt's extensive cast beyond the Legionnaires... [Smile]
Legion of Super-Heroes:

† - full membership contingent on getting counselling & a positive report from Dr Ryker.
‡ - on medical leave

A few more are intended, particularly for the Academy, but all bar a couple are as background rather than major characters (Plus a couple more students Cobalt asked for at the Academy).

Glad to see you jumping back in, IB! Can't wait to read thosts posts.

Also, really glad to see 'Boot's complete mastery of this universe remains supreme. [Big Grin]

I still have a huge amount of notes at my work desk to pick up and continue my plot lines! Probably not at the moment but maybe in the coming weeks / months I can pick this back up.

I'll have to do a refresher anyway on where I am and where everyone's stories are. I may still have a few previously written parts that haven't been posted yet.

I still have major plans for the massive amount of characters I'm writing, including the ones from other's stories that I roped in. In fact, when I get back full time, we can perhaps coordiante the "BIG EVENT" a bit more properly. [Smile]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Thanks for the roll call, 'Boot! Just a couple corrections - I believe Quislet is spelled "Qwyzlyt", unless someone changed it somewhere along the line.

And I chose "Amazon" as a codename for Monstress, since my take on her is that she wouldn't think of herself as a monster anymore.

Love the additions of Gear, Star Boy, Magnetic Kid and Spark to the big team, btw.

Nightwatchman - sounds interesting. Dang, I should really read through all this. I know I seem to have a lot of time on the Boards lately, but I don't really have the time to absorb and digest all the fiction YET.

Re future plans, good to be back too. And sorry for making you guys wait what, 7 years? [Razz]

'Boot, Cobie, glad you're both still actively planning on keeping on writing. I don't have any immediate plans for now - plotting is my weak spot, and I want to finish my "Loss" fic first. I still have 21 Legionnaires to write entries for. Feel free to use the Legionnaires I intro'ed in background scenes or even in the main narrative, if you want to juggle a few more characters in [Wink] My only request is that you don't make any lasting changes to them.

Can't wait for this "Big Event" [Wink]

I MAY introduce Infectious Lass and Wildfire too. I think someone's already brought Drake in, though? Does anyone have a list of all the characters here?

And I think all my other faves are somewhere in the narrative, so I'm all good.

Well, I'm sure I told you, in broad strokes at least, what I was planning for my two tie-ins.

*checks*

Yeah, it was in the "Superboy Prime" PM thread. Only thing I'm not so sure about now is the zombies, which I've kinda been looking for an alternative on. Might still go with them.

Actually, back at Quislet "joining" [I see him more as a tag-along they've never managed to rid of!] Vee, who intro'ed the character had it as real-name Qwyzlyt, codename Quislet.

By now the three young people could see the little silver ship hovering up near the ceiling of the conference room. There was some sort of shimmering field barely visible behind it. Suddenly, a bright ray of light flashed down to the pen laying on the table and engulfed it in brilliant white light. As the light faded the pen stood up, walked to the paper and, in large flowing script, added something to the bottom of the list.

“Look! It wrote what looks like Q-W-Y-Z-L-Y-T’ under name and ‘Quislet’ under codename,” Rex gasped.

Gene buried his head in his arms on the table and sob “Oh god! Why me? This is just too much!” as Rex and Lorna laughed and Quislet (in the pen) did a passable imitation of a jig on the paper, adding a huge florish to the bottom of the paper.

WHAT FUN!!! the newest Legionnaire laughed.

Oddly enough, no-one's ever bothered to remember the 5D spelling since!

Cobalt, you didn't have any plans for Themiscyra, did you? [Razz]

[No, I don't think he did - but hell, he's using Superman, Superboy & Batman, so it isn't out of the question!]

Nightwatchman - sounds interesting. Dang, I should really read through all this. I know I seem to have a lot of time on the Boards lately, but I don't really have the time to absorb and digest all the fiction YET.

Haven't used Gear or Starboy on "the big team" much - the only time I've sent them on a mission was, ironically enough, in Nightwatchman. Other than introducing Lydia, though, that was mostly a Shifter-heavy story, with Lyle as the main support.

[It's also, having read over it last night, irritatingly typo-ridden...]

I do still have plans for a Lydia/Reed follow-up, actually. It's just all about finding the time - and, more importantly, concentration! - to write...

[That said, glancing over stuff, I've used Nura quite a bit! Mostly as support for Tela though - Cobalt established them as best friends, so when I put Irma through the ringer, Nura almost has to come along!]

A guy called M'onel (not to be confused with the infamous "Valor the M'Onel", whose "contributions" we ignore...) created Wildfire... with the postboot origin! [Oddly enough, the same guy gave Andromeda her preboot origin]

I used him/them briefly in Endgame thereafter (from this post onward), but never really followed up on that - he just fell through the cracks when I was moving guys around thereafter (I had half-formed plans for him, but never developed them beyond that), so he's pretty much a blank slate if you want him.

As for a list of characters... I've got a full list of "my" characters (as well as characters I've set aside), and some notes on others - but I don't have a comprehensive list of every character used, especially by Cobalt, to hand. Anyone else you have in mind?

Ah, minus points for my reading comprehension, re the Quislet codename. Didn't catch that at all! Sorry and thanks.

Thanks for the link, I'll read up on Wildfire. Doesn't really feel like the Legion without him.

Let's see... as for other faves, I know Cobie is using Jeckie and Tasmia... we already have Rokk AND Pol, so probably won't bring in Magno... I think that's it, Drura and Drake for now. I just kind of want to bring them in so that they're on hand for our future "Big Event" [Wink]

Funnily enough, I think Mon-el and Ferro are pretty much the only Adventure Era Legionnaires who haven't appeared in 21st Century Legion at all, if I remember right.

Cobalt's been using Mon-El ("Monius Elysius") a lot! [Not to be confused with Valor, known in other realities as Karate Kid [Smile] ]

And Ferro & his brother, Kono and Kon(-El) were in Big Bad's group with the Foccarts, so Cobalt had them at last report.

Kal-El's sort of in the background:

“Waitwaitwait,” said Kon. “I’m a clone?”

“Yes,” answered Amanda. “ Starting about a year ago, Cadmus has been trying to create supersoldiers, based on the genetic template of an alien that arrived on Earth about 17 years ago. Unfortunately, Cadmus couldn’t crack the genetic code, and every attempt to clone him resulted in subhuman bizarre aliens. I know Cobalt was planning on actually using him, but I can't see (glancing over things) if he actually did so.

As for Supergirl... well, I'm using Andromeda [Smile]

Yeah, I've already put things in motion for both Kal-El and Kon-El that I have planned for both the short term and long term. Also for Amanda Waller, Ferro & Douglas and the others mentioned in that initial post.

If I list the characters that I've used or have put plans up for, it may get a little ridiculous. Some are also a surprise. But if you want, IB, I can PM you my list. I can send to you too Boot, just to be clear. (I actually started writing it up but a lot of characters are surprises that we’ve only ever PMed about).

Only if it's not too much trouble, Cobie. I'm not planning to write much any time soon, besides introducing some favorites (e.g. Drura, Drake) into our shared universe so they'll be available for the Big Event. So take your time [Smile]

You know, the Novella I'm currently writing has really gotten my creative juices flowing again, so maybe it won't be as long as I think. It'll just take a helluva a lot more research to remember exactly where I am and what I have planned..

Whoa. AWESOME. This is gonna be another big, rock-your-world type of thread [Wink]

Okay, I've written Wildfire and Hygeia (Infectious Lass) into the Legion too, beginning here. I had Tela push for their inclusion, since she's a) a founder and thus has clout, and b) aware of the Mordru threat. I'm having here help build up the team's power in preparation for that. With Wildfire's sheer power, and Hygeia's ability to take on pretty much any organic enemy... These two can be pretty big assets to the team.

Wildfire's already has his moment c/o Reboot, and I wrote a sequence showing Drura's power in action. I gave her limited healing abilities as well - she can control microorganisms to stimulate antibodies, attack other microorganisms, and so on.

How many more do you guys plan to add to the team after all is said and done? [Wink] Looks like we'll have a TRUE Legion in numbers after this.

Well, I have three characters about to be sworn in as soon as I get the post up (and its been coming a long time, so shouldn't be a surprise to anyone).

At the rate people are joining its going to get pretty huge pretty quick. Most of my group will eventually join so maybe we should be a bit more judicious about new members joining? I guess we'll see...

I'm actually planning to take at least a couple *off* the team post-EW [Smile]

Incidentally though, you talking about "team votes"... I was thinking (and IIRC, Cobalt agreed with me on this) that the joining process should be more top-down-driven (over Gene's head, even) until after Earth War, when things would be freed up somewhat.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Ah, my bad. I'll edit out the parts referring to team votes, then, and add references in the first post about Chu endorsing Drake and Drura.

Curious about that, Boot - wonder who you're going to lose from the team? Hmmm...

Maybe we should set a member limit, just to ensure it doesn't get too tough for us.

I'm still researching hours later. Will try to PM you both before I leave for work.

I'm considering doing a major post blast tomorrow. I have many, many posts ready to go that I already wrote that basically bring all my characters to Earth War (or close). So before I do that, I don't want to disrupt whatever you guys are currently doing.

Well, right now (literally if you don't count me stopping to reply [Smile] ), I'm writing up the Andromeda story with this girl:
 -

...and it's actually relatively low-key beyond a couple of flashbacks, mostly setup/getting the cast in place in Cathingham (since this is a dangler from a while back). If you're going to do one of your infamous 20-post splurges*, could you make sure you hold off on firing the actual "starting gun" on EW until I get that posted? I'd rather not be posting that in the midst of a "planet openly at war" thing [Smile]

*I recommend you space it out over a week or so rather than posting them all in one go. That way, the thread stays on the LW front page a lot longer [Razz]

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

Sounds good. I've now figured out where to get started. I have a number of posts to make that are the "Road to Earth War" without actually being the war itself. I'll get those up over the course of the next week or so until we get to the actual "planet openly at war" part. [Big Grin]

I've spent all afternoon reminding myself where I'm going with all these plots. [Big Grin]

At some point, Jacquie's group is interacting heavily with the Legion in LSH HQ in Manhattan. I'll reread them shortly and let you know which Legionnaires will be present but its all the ones you expect. I'll post that here so if any thing affects where some currently may be (like Tela or Vi) you can let me know.

FYI, I won't PM tonight but hope to get to it shortly. No kidding, I have about 60 printed pages of material I never posted. Throughout the coming days, I'll reread, post, tweak where needed and get your guys thoughts and advice as we go.

I'll also write up the missing beats between where I left off and the start of Earth War and we can go from there... [Smile]

60? [Embarrassed]

So we're going to tie all our threads into Earth War, right? This sounds great, there's plenty of space for our characters to explore.

I already have something in mind for the seven I'm going to use.

'Boot, PM you on the characters we're sharing - I may have plans for them down the line, when you're done with em.

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

So I spent my entire afternoon, evening and night catching up on 21CL. I’m not quite done—I have to get through a few more things so I am 100% sure I can remember all the various subplots I was working on, but I’m pretty close. I’ve got to say, IB coming back into the game and Reboot being able to recall everything has inspired me to get back to 21CL! What’s really amazing is that I’ve been working on this story for like 8 years now. Last night I also went through my notes and put them all together to plot out exactly how the Road to Earth War goes and then Earth War itself.

I’m not quite there yet to PM you guys about Earth War with the details and to get ideas, but I’m getting close. Certainly, it will be worth getting some of the broad scope plans in place.

In the meantime, I plan to start posting a few posts a day / every other day for my plots, most of which are pre-written and bring everyone together. Where I left off is the Sentinels are dealing with Mordru’s agents that basically bring everything right up to Earth War; meanwhile, Sensor / Karate Kid / Nemesis / Ferro are on their way to the Legion. That last group will join the Legion (three joining, and Valor rejoining), even though doing so will be a bureaucratic mess and cause all kinds of problems (which I’ll address). Val will also be in all kinds of trouble and I’ll address too.

Reboot, I have a few specific questions for you that are basically just “where did we leave off in our private conversations?”. For instance, I know we created the character Metternich (which by the way, I also named an LMB character the same thing) and I’ve written him into many of my upcoming posts. He’s the liaison for the Legion with the UN and he’s kind of a dick. I just want to make sure this is all still a go. Then there are some more general ones.

For Earth War itself, I have five parts plus epilogues and the main gist of it is this will conclude the war against Mordru that has been building since almost Day 1 of this entire project. Each part has about 5 posts (so maybe 20-30 posts). I will basically utilize almost every character I’ve used thus far to tie up as many loose ends as possible, and my goal is to complete Earth War once and for all. After that, I can kind of move into a “PHASE 2” for what I want to do in 21CL, and that includes focusing on the LSH organization instead of off to the side. For Earth War proper (and there is quite a bit to get to before we do that), we can all coordinate exactly who is where and how it all works. Eventually I’d like to utilize several of the Legion characters myself where they meet the Sentinels and travel to Europe. We can figure this all out as we get closer, but it would probably need to include Dreamer, Violet (given prior interaction), Leviathan (as LSH Leader, leaving Cos in charge back home for Reboot to use), Invisible Kid & Catalyst, my (4) that are about to join obviously, and maybe a few others. Most important, is the story would dictate that Tela should join them as well, the reasons being pretty obvious (I’ll PM you specifics but you probably know already). Naturally, I’ll show her capable and heroic but won’t get too detailed with her character since I consider her “Reboot’s character”.

I'll reply properly later when I'm home w/my notes - but Cobalt, if you want a PM reply, you'll have to bump the other (redux) thread. Seven's now maxed [Smile]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Sounds awesome to me. Both of you can develop your own threads, while I take care of those Legionnaires and other characters whom you won't use. I'll also try to develop the other arenas of war that you won't explore [Big Grin]

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

So my latest two posts today tie up a loose end with the Sentinels as we continue to move forward towards Earth War. I won't post again until sometime next week, so don't worry--there won't be 2-3 posts every day.

My next posts will include Jacquie, Val, Hasim & Ferro face to face with the LSH. For those posts, I wrote in the following Legionnaires: Cos, Tela, Garth, Condo, Lyle, Jan, Nura, Vi, Quis and Gene, plus RJ Brande. Is this going to be okay? It's basically just a meeting in the LSH HQ. But I want to be sure it doesn't disrupt anyone's plans or where any Legionnaires are right now.

My next goal today and this weekend is to get caught up 100% on your guys stories!

Also, prior to each post I make, I'll check here for any Legionnaires I might include and if that disrupts anything.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Sounds like a great plan, Cobie, thanks.

I've lent Zoe, Jenni, Jazmin and Blizzard to 'Boot for his part. I'm toying with the idea of a short (2-3 posts) scene with Drura, Berta, Candi, Chuck, Jan, Quis and Drake that will explore the opening tensions of Earth War. Beyond that, I don't really have any plans yet.

I'll wait and see how your plots develop before jumping in much.

I'd love to catch up 100% on all the posts you two have done but I'm afraid it'll take me until next summer to do that [Razz]

 -

And, secondly, some Academy students from the Earth War story - Synch, Jubilee & Tomb [I've actually got a couple more done, but since they're of Cobalt's characters, I should check with him before posting them! [Wink] ]:

Got behind with my micro posting, it seems. Going to post them in batches, starting with some ancillary characters - supporting cast, and a pair of villains.

Starting with the villains, the Lightning Lords, from "Lords and Masters", after Mark Raines got himself "twinned":
 -

A couple of Marvel-based characters - Rachel Dayspring (i.e., Rachel Summers) who debuted in "Lords and Masters" and appeared in "Beast War"/"Penumbra", and Julia Carpenter (i.e., Spider-Woman II) from "A Good Day to Die":
 - -

Tazmin Tomas, the former Arra of the Táloc (daughter of the deceased Michael [Mikkal] Tomas) and new Academy student as of the aforementioned "Penumbra":
 -

And finally, a couple of characters from my next post [Wink]
 -

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Color me intrigued!

Liking Tazmin's big hair a lot [Wink] And Julia Carpenter also happens to be my fave among the Spider-Women, so thumbs-up for reimagining her.

Posted by Reboot on :

And some more!

First, a couple more supporting characters - the Legion's main MD, Dr. James Llewellyn, and their psychologist Dr. Ryker (21CL Dr. Gym'll and Dr. Ryk'rr respectively). Along with a random Dreamer repost just to show that they're short! (Although these are definitely not to any sort of precise scale, the taller micros are meant to represent taller characters and vice-versa):

 - - -

And now, the main Academy lineup. Some of which I've posted before, but it's easier this way [Smile] :
 -

The teachers group at the left (front to back) is John Jones (guess who [Wink] ), Dani Moonstar, Shikari and Gates.

The flying students are Eagle (Akasha Martinez, the briefly-seen Living Pharaoh II from Marvel) and Flying Fox (the infamous Floating Fox-Like Creature Boy!).

Then the main group of students is (L to R): Everett/Synch, Jubilee, Janet/Giant-Girl*, Sofia (Winddancer), Nori/Surge, Sul/Reflex, Ojiako/Tomb**, Dietrich/Magno, Tazmin, Sandy/Inferno, Jennifer/Particon and Cobalt's trio of Jed Riccard/Powerhouse, Tanya Scott/Lamprey and Serena Grava/Comet Queen.

(phew!)

*Based on the Marvel Adventures Avengers version of Janet van Dyne
**Yes, Tomb's a Legion character, albeit a one-shot from Showcase '95 #6

Loving the costumes. Like how Rebound's combines China's red with the Philippines' 8-pointed star (is that a correct assumption?)? And I know I've said this before, but especially love the pirate look of Amihan, Amazon's party girl/girl gladiator look, and Hygeia's antennae and the homage to Ice of the JLA.

Oh, and Valor's uniform especially is nice.

While "in-continuity" you might decide different, the red & black were just taken from Chuck's latter postboot look. After that, I played about a bit, since a black neck/shoulder area didn't work for me, and ultimately decided he might invoke a patriotic symbol! (E-Lad actually went the other way - I started out with a Swiss flag in a similar way and lost it as it looked too busy by the end since I wanted the "zipped" stripes to imply changing, although I cut those down from five to four for similar reasons).

Funnily enough, I wasn't actually thinking of pirates! I just wanted something that would react well with wind powers - which couldn't be a belt sash, since Sofia has that! - and ended up with the tailed jacket with "Firestorm" sleeves from there.

Ta. Never been quite sure about his left shoulder.

It wasn't random - iB's origin for Blizzard explicitly tied him in with Ice. With that, it seemed logical [Smile] (the costume was originally even more Ice-like, actually, but iB asked me to lose the chestplate I'd given him to homage her tank-top!).

Reboot really does a fantastic job with costume designs. I usually get to see a preview of all the micros for my characters and can't wait to reply with tons of praise.

I love the color scheme for Ferro. It just made him 'pop' for me in a way that his costumes never did in the comics!

And Element Lad's costume is really terrific! It feels so fresh and yet instantly classic.

A few more of Cobalt's characters - Monius Elysius, Tatiana Mallor (Umbra), Veilmist, Dawnstar and Devious Emius:

I love Umbra! Good homage to all of her barely there outfits while leaving her actually clothed, which is nice for a change [Smile]

Plus I think it would look wicked seeing her standing against a darkfield with just the exposed bits of her skin visible...

Mild cock-up I just noticed - I uploaded an old version of Mon-El in error (the leather parts were meant to be black, with white studs on the belt, to create a mild postboot homage)! Here's how it should have looked:

[I've also fixed it on the previous page]

And yeah, I'm trying to avoid bikinis and the like entirely with the female costumes (of those wearing actual "costumes", there's a leotard for Kinetix and a skirt for Amazon [Monstress], and that's about it).

They're all great, but I'm particularly intrigued by Veilmist's costume. Very nice touch!

Playing around with some background students for the Academy there fordehellavit. All six are based on characters who appeared in Legion comics (albeit mostly with costumes translated to civvies), but who never got names or explicit powers.

[I'll be surprised and amused if anyone could pinpoint the panel(s) they all appeared in [Wink] ]

I think the redhead, the pink-haired girl and the fish-headed one all appeared in the Legion 25?

The last one with the red eyes appeared in Legionnaires 43, not sure if on the cover or pages 2-3.

Not sure about the first two, though.

Actually, only the two I mentioned in passing here are from Legion #25 - although I know why you think the girl in maroon/blue is from the latter, since there was a girl cadet with a similar hair colour there. The other four actually all hail from Legionnaires #43, with slightly toned-down designs (especially in the case of the skinny guy, who had big metal shoulderpads!).

[That said, the "redhead" (I was thinking more light brown, personally) didn't actually get a visible hair colour in the issue - a fair chunk of her was bleached out by a foreground effect!]

That stretchy dude looks wicked! Also, Quinkan and the fish-head guy, yay! [Smile]

Haven't posted anything 21CL-related for a while, I just realised. I'm still writing-blocked ( [Mad] ), so here's some more micros [Smile]

 -

Danielle F & Spirit I've posted before, and are included for comparison to their brother & mother, respectively. The trenchcoated guy is King Faraday. And the guy at the end... I've told Cobalt this before, but I wasn't a fan of him introducing Batman into 21CL. Hence making it as unBatman-like as I could while keeping to his description and the general idea of a bat...

That certainly looks like a different Batman, different enough for it to not be the "real" Batman. I like!

Nice that Spirit is taller than her mom (love the code name by the way - Spirit evokes both her powers and her personality).

Spirit's clothing is amazingly detailed for a micro. I love the way it's 'lighted' with the silvery-gray bits fading into the darker grayish-black.

Nice detail.

Also liking the texturing of the cloth on both Spirit and Danielle (the pants especially).

Yeah, Reboot is pretty masterful at doing micros. The Mon-El at the top of this thread is mind-blowingly detailed with the armor. It's so perfect!

Oh yeah, I love Roman-style armor, so that's a definite thumbs-up from me.

Although the face looks kind of like this guy, to me, which creates weird dissonance in my mind, since he usually plays bad guys.

The Countess is actually pretty tall amongst the micros, but I'd already made Spirit one of the tallest (if not *the* tallest) female Legionnaires (I was thinking of early Moder, before Andromeda came along and he shrunk Apparition down quite a lot, I think).

I can't take credit for the codename though. That dates back to the thread's tag-team days. *Goes to check* Fat Cramer probably gets the credit, since Vee was big on the one who did the intro getting to do the codename [Smile]

Ta. Although I tidied her up a bit recently, she's actually one of my older micros. I had a pretty clear idea what I was aiming for with her - a black woolen undersuit with one or two drapy/gauzy Alan Davis-style layers on top so that, on the one hand, she would shimmer in the daylight in a very feminine, slightly ghostly way. And on the other, set against her black-lined cape in the dark, it would break up her outline, so that if she was coming at you phased in a darkened room, you would just see her face, gloves, boots and (outer) cape coming at you semi-transparent like a ghost with no body. Probably smiling, given her personality. [Apparition]

And, for the last day, I thought I'd see this old board out with something 21CL. So here's every character who's had a micro I (that I could find) that I've made for 21CL [Smile]
