Very nice.

Really nice work dedman! I particularly like the unique positioning on both of them. Chuck makes much more sense like that then how he was typically depicted. Tellus also looks awesome and "fluid" from that perspective. Look forward to more.

I don't think I've seen that Cosmic Boy before. Was that up on your old site? Anyhow, I like how all the space-junk is being drawn in towards him. Nice way to show off his power in action!

Keep 'em coming Marck!

Posted by dedman on :

Thanks loser.....i think it was on my old site, not sure now.

BTW, that tribute to Element Lad is just begging for some colour (hint, hint)

Posted by Loser Lad on :

I was kind of thinking that myself. [Wink] Any chance you might have a larger scan of the inked version saved? If not I'm sure I can use the one you posted, but a larger image would be easier to work with.

Posted by dedman on :

Thats the largest one i have on disk, but i think i still have the original around. If i can find it, i'll rescan it for you

Posted by Loser Lad on :

Cool. If you can shoot me a PM and I'll tell you where to send it. If not, I'll see what I can do with this one.

Posted by dedman on :

An old one
 -
Another old one. This one was by request, but i can't remember for who. Perhaps for Grey?
 -

Posted by Greybird on :

Yes, that was by my request, from a cover scan of "Marie Claire" I sent to you, which became the "City Star." Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey became Dawny and Dirk -- and quite adeptly, I might add!

Who was the model in your earlier manip above?

Posted by dedman on :

Ahh...I was pretty sure it was you. Thanks for the extra info about the source too, that's something i've been trying to keep track off myself....you just filled in one of the gaps. The earlier dawnstar model.....dunno. She was just a pic i snagged of a bikini website. Never did get a name for her though [Frown]

I think it would make a interesting new take on triad but could also be interesting as three different girls. Sorry it's huge I don't know how to thumbnail

No problem PB, I thumbnailed it for you. In the future to post a large image as a thumbnail use THUMB in the UBB code instead of IMG.

These are all really good. As long as Brit Spears doesn't actually play her if they ever make a movie.

Posted by Faraway Lad on :

Ded i really like these and am gobsmacked at how good you are at getting the material to look like it is really something these people wear, not something painted on. That supergirl skirt for instance.

One thing i did notice was that a few of these girls are awfully thin, I mean count the ribs thin. Was that a deliberate look you were going for?

Thanks polarboy. Thanks for the pic too...I have an idea for it already...and it doesn't involved triplicate girl in and way [Smile] If you would like to learn how to do this, try http://heromorph.com It's an excellent photomaniper community and it has some really good tutorials (esp the "start to finish" tutorial by black alchemy). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the compliments...The supergirl manip is an older one, so i can't remember the source pic, but i'm pretty sure the skirt was "frankenstiened" in. Basicly it was moved in from another pic...that wasn't a delibrate look, but is just the way they come out. most of the high-quality base pics have thin models.

Damned nice man. Excellent work.
Now you have to start on a whole new batch based on the newboot Legion.
Pretty cool, eh?

I hope the "goodbye," Marck, doesn't mean that you'll be going away and not taking part on these boards! After such a long absence, especially, but in any case, we would miss you. And as YK said, the Kitson art may inspire you, or so we'd hope.

no new Legion work to post, but here's a spidey pinup i recently completed. I'll be posted more non-legion stuff for a while now, while i work on some more Legion art

Non-Legion art is cool too. I have all kinds of it posted in my gallery. Post away Marck!

Another recent drawing, this one is Scorpion from Mortal Kombat!! (i'm a big Kombat fan, so expect a fair bit of kombat art!) anyhoo......"GET OVER HERE!!!!!!!!"

I like MK, just got kicked out of a MK forum, anyways, I like Sindel, but Scorpions definitely up there, great pic.

Posted by dedman on :

Thanks Viv!!!....Sindel is one of my fav's too, I'm colouring a pic of her now, so i'll post it soon!!!

Posted by dedman on :

More Kombat. Here is my reimagining of Motaro, the centaur from MK3. Also there is a reworking Jade. She was the Green female ninja clone. I really tried to give her a distinctive look from the other two

Don't know the characters of Mortal Kombat, but these are very sexy and powerful depictions!

This is for Grey

hey dedman, VERY,VERY, nice. [Cool]

Posted by Lightning Lad on :

Very, very nice deddy! Most excellent! And 107 layers? [Eek!] I think that would crash my PC if I tried it in PSP.

Posted by Greybird on :

That's just gorgeous, Ded amigo. And 107 layers, such subtle combinations -- I'm glad to have a hint of the work that's involved behind the scenes.

The model is superb. She wears the jewelry with panache and carries her wings well. The harsher light on her is more like what would be seen in space, methinks, un-softened by air.

(I did have to wonder, though: The image isn't missing anything at the top, is it? Was it cropped?)

Thanks for bringing along this lovely lady!

Posted by dedman on :

thanks for the comments everyone!!!
Scott - i was getting worried about a crash myself, i've never made a pic with that many layers before
Grey - Really glad you like this one grey. The original source pic was cropped at the top and bottom, normally something i try to avoid, but this one had such a perfect flying pose i had to use it. The jewellery she is wearing is jewellery made by various tribes in the SW region. Her actual costume was made from scratch, with the designs again being from various SW tribes. It may interest you to know that the black and white symbol in the center of her breachcloth actually means "morning star" (aka the dawnstar) in the Arapaho tribe.

Posted by DrakeB3004 on :

Awesome job Ded! It's cool that you did research for accuracy. I hadn't really noticed that symbol before you mentioned it.

Posted by dedman on :

Thanks Drake....i usually do a fair amount if research when doing a redesign like that.

Posted by dedman on :

And now into a run of fantasy art. Most of this is a bit old, and most of it is from a DnD campaigne i was in.
This is one of my characters, Silur Cha, one of the Lizard Folk. He was a mage, specializing in illusions. He provided some much needed magic support to the team and as a result of being Lizard Folk, some brute force as well. Also, for those of you familiar with Babylon 5; he spoke like Zathros....even called his familiar (a crow)
"the one".....which made all other crows "not the one"
 -

Posted by Sketch Lad on :

dedman, this is a spectacular gallery! That Dawnstar image is amazing. Excellent detailing.

Posted by dedman on :

Continuing the fantasy run.....
This is Thailus Ar'Daenar, an elvish Warrior Priest. He was a specialized undead slayer. The 1st Image is Thailus more or less as he appeared at the beginning of the game. The 2nd image is Thailus about 1/2 way though. At this point he (and several other party members) had been touched by a evil power. This touch gave him various firebased abilities (everyone touched recieved some powers, signified by the coloured scar over the eye). The final image is Thailus just before i retired him. By now his fire abilities are out of control and he is locked into a suit of living armour to help control it.

Posted by Star Boy on :

Awesome stuff!!! [Smile] [Smile]

Posted by dedman on :

Another member of the same adventuring party, Brehanna Steelheart. She started out as a paladin (1st image). However she was touched by the same power that touched Thailus and fell from grace (she recieved Psioic abilities). Shortly after that she was bitten by a werewolf and became one herself (2nd image). Finally her abilites grew and she shed her armour in favour of psionic sheilding. Bad idea Brehanna!!! She was killed by the party, because we were lead to beleive she was a traitor.

Posted by High Priestess Viviane on :

Poor Brehanna, she looks cool, though.

Hmm. My post disappeared.

Great work deddy!

Who's the model? She looks familiar.

Posted by Disco Ded on :

thanks guys [Smile] ....LL - i don't know who the model is, it was just a pic a snagged from a bikini site. I reconstructed her face a bit too to try and make her look a bit more like Kitson's Projecta

Posted by Lightning Lad on :

Her face just look familiar to me. Maybe it was because you captured Kitson's Jeckie. Or maybe I've ready too many Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Specials. [Big Grin]

Posted by Faraway Lad on :

Nice! [Yes]

I do like the logo behind her head too.

More please

The scales are from a book of B&W textures i have...the photo was snakeskin of course. I then applied a displacement map to the scales layer and set the layer to overlay. crop to fit figure and voila!!! (i really hope that makes sense)

Posted by dedman on :

I'm not really happy with the final result for this one, I may redo it at some point. However, for the moment my version of the WAK Shadow Lass-

 -

Posted by Harbinger on :

I love the pose and costume, though am not sure if I see Tasmia (or whatever her name is now [Smile] ) quite so torquoise Dedman - still, the light sheen across her cheek and midriff are lovely!

How long do you spend on each manip? It looks like you must be slaving over it for ages to put in such lush detail!

Bx

Posted by Arachne on :

I like the Shady pic, and, yes, the scales thing makes sense.

Posted by dedman on :

Harbi - turquoise eh? hmmm, have to check my montitor's colour setting. The amount of time for a manip Really varies, mostly by how much work needs to be done on the original photo(s). Generally though things like clothing, overlapping limbs, tangley or curly hair all add time.

Arachne - Thanks!!!!

My latest manip; Snowbird from Alpha Flight. Happy with most of this one, but the cape is horrid....and my other attempts were worse. I may come back and redo the cape sometime but for now, here she is.......
 -

Posted by Harbinger on :

Very nice! A great defiant expression and her eyes are quite spooky.

Again, the sheen and shadows are superb! Agree that the cape is not perfect but it looks okay, maybe just a little 2D coming off her left shoulder - the line or something? If you hadn't of mentioned it I would never have noticed [Big Grin]

What I did notice and really like is her costume design - did she ever wear the Maple Leaf? I'm not really all that familiar with the AF history but it looks fantastic!

Background and logo look great too.

Bx

And let me be the first to say I wish I had a bra that good [LOL]

Posted by dedman on :

Thanks Harbi!!!! Glad you like the costume design, it is an original. Its pretty much a combo of her "real" costume and the Leaf-cut design on other AF costumes.

Posted by dedman on :

The next WAK manip; Lightning Lad.

What they said! Props~

Posted by dedman on :

Thanks guys.....i really appreciate all the feedback!!!

The lightning was actually very easy. It is an Eyecandy lightning filter copy and pasted and distorted several times.

LL - [LOL] I never noticed the "pigtails" in the thumb at first. Now i can't un-see them!!!!

Good stuff (as usual) Deddy!

Got the results of the latest poll
here are the winners and thier vote totals

Theena - 4 (i'll be doing her first; already got ideas)
Element Lad - 3 (think lots of glowing symbols)
Lone Wolf - 3 (thisone is going to be dark)
Light Lass - 3 (i have the perfect base pic for her)

So I'll be doing Theena first then attempting the other three. I'll poset 'em asap, in the meanwhile i'll post some other stuff

Posted by Arachne on :

I like that Lightening Lad. Can't wait for Lone Wolf. [Smile]

Posted by dedman on :

just an update....things are going nicely with Theena. I've finished my seperatations and what i call the "smoothing" process, which takes the most time. Costuming has started. And while working on Theena i've done little bits of the other 3 during breaks.

This is one of my original characters. He is a cyborg, with enhanced intelligence and strenght plus a boatload of nifty built-in gadgets. In this pinup, i guess he is in for some repairs or upgrades.
Anyhoo, this is MENTOR

Mentor is nice, I like to look at your originals, there is something so fresh about them.

Seems I have three similar art threads, I'll have to get them merged...This thread had the majority of my art so I'm reviving it.

So on the Cracked.com website they run these weekly contests called "photoplasty". They give 4 topics and you do photomanipulations based on it.
Tonight I entered my first contest ever and then put in two more entries into "Sarcastic Versions of Famous Album/Song Titles"
