This is an all female challenge, and we will start with 8 contestants!!! These models should have facial features that are not typical of an Earthling. They should have abnormal (to us) colored skin, or pointed ears, or glowing eyes, etc. I think you all know what I'm looking for.
I will make this a little easier on myself by not having judges, but there will be a host...DREAM GIRL! (yay!) I'm already thinking of how to present her before each challenge!

Not very familiar with Sharn Nux, Tiger Girl, or Devil... but the graemlins on the latter two look interesting, and Nux is Coluan. So those three in.
If Ji Daggle doesn't make the cut for the Autumn Reds and Browns, then have her here. I'd have nominated Leejah, if she hadn't been frozen partway between forms; she had a nice face, at least?

Much as I adore Veilmist, she doesn't look unearthly to me. The hair could be Manic Panic. I thought it was her costume that made her appear pink. I got out LSH 45 and studied V. closely but I can't tell for sure either way.
Mandalla doesn't seem that exotic to me either. Am I missing something? (WWLSH says her mom's from Earth and her dad may be from Titan.)

Englenna was a Zirrian, not a Dominator. Unless Zirrians were retconned into being Dominators, but I don't recall that.

Alright, so after my little unscheduled break, I've come back and counted up the votes. The following characters were clearly IN... KONO SHARN NUX SHIKARI LADY MEMORY INFECTIOUS LASS THEENA
From the next batch, we ended up with a three way tie for the top spot... FEMALE DOMINATOR FLOWER (OR POPPY OR ROSE OR SOMETHING) COMET QUEEN
This left us needin another tie breaker, and frankly, I'm tired of that!
DR. RYK'RR TIGER GIRL JI DAGGLE VEILMIST all recevied votes, so I think I'm just going to have to do a sketch of ALL of the nominees and let the voting determine who goes into the finals!!!

This expansion (as well as the autumn reds & browns expansions) shows that you care what EVERYONE wants (and possibly want EVERYONE to have a chance at the top spot!). I am *elated* that Veilmist and other obscure characters will be have a chance to shine here.

The first round of sketches show the FEMS as we have seen them in the books. Naturally, after everyone has seen *my* rendition of them, I'll start depicting them the way I want to, which makes it fun for me....

Bald green chicks don't do it for me. (Green chicks with hair ala She-Hulk and Star Trek: The Menagerie are a different story). Out with SHARN NUX.
I think the doctor isn't in at all. Looks like RYK'RR is totally out of place. She must go sooner rather than later.
I've hated the DOMINATORs ever since TMK's brilliant, bloody Terra Mosaic arc. I know the young chick one wasn't evil and stuff, and she was a teleporter (my favorite power), but no WAY.
COMET QUEEN's picture looks great, but she just isn't a, y'know, traditional beauty, even for a space-alien, is she? I don't think she has what it takes.
KONO totally blew it wearing that colossal coat.
Those are my 5 rejectees.

Chicks with antennae rule. Rock on Ji and Dru.
Shikari has potential.
I think both Lady Memory and Veilmist only have skin color keeping them in the 'alien' category. I think they both have incredible beauty to keep them in this contest.
Theena has one heck of a monkey on her back. I can see it hurting her in the long run, but for now I want to see what Dean can make of her.
I also am interested to see what Dean can do with Teacher.

Now that the voting is over, I can spill...
I hated my picture of Drura! I normally have great luck at drawing her. I just felt like that picture wasn't very...special.
Yes, in trying to make Kono's jacket all bulky and bunchy, I forgot that a normal sized body was underneath. The proportions were off.
I'm glad Dr. Ryk'rr didn't make it. I don't really care for her style. I bet I would have made her bald with the little stumps if she continued.
The rest went along just fine. Now I get to take them and do things my way!

Okay, I stopped being lazy and got out my DnA issues. Neither Sharn nor other assorted Coluan dudes had pupils or irises. Hmm.
Speaking of round stuff, I was surprised the young Dominator lass had a disc -- they were referred to as badges of rank and the Dominators were not big believers in fem power.
Both of these ladies are out (dang!) but they gave me incentive to look in my back issues. I also got out the Lady Memory issues. I had bought them out of order some time apart, and I'm not sure I had read them.
As for beauty ~ I've been going with the most striking visual image. Beauty comes into play, but that's only part of it. Back in the male model competition, Chlor probably wasn't the most handsome of the group yet his pics gave him the win.

Theena: While I don't care that much for the colors, there's something about this that I found charming. The headpiece portion of the symbiote is cute!

Teacher and Teena were awesome! I myself loved Toger's beehive but her gown looked almost too confining. Veilmist was scary/incredible.

Some behind-the-scenes comments...
I LOVED drawing Tiger, and I'll miss her! I wanted to do some different stuff with her hair... I was thinking Erykka Bahdu (surely that's spelled wrong..) when I designed that tiger striped turban ensemble.
Shikari's look got mixed reviews, but I appreciate the comment made about showing diversity amongst the challenge images. That was my goal.
Yes, Veilmist's regular attire is already much like her "Mate Attraction" ensemble. That was intentional. I like the way it made Teeds go off on a Christina riff!!
I thought Theena's look was a bit creepy, but interesting. I imagine the Symbiosis Ceremony as being very scary for the human, but maybe ultimately empowering and a bit...sensual? Yikes!
Teacher is another one who normally looks dressed for a parade, so her outfit wasn't a big change from the norm for her either. I was considering going over the top, with blossoms head to toe, but decided against it. Might've been okay...
I was happy with the Lady Memory sketch from the moment it was done. I knew there'd be gold, but I didn't know what color the fabric would be. I tried everything, and hated it all, so I left it white. Then I had to figure out why a Talokian would wear white, and I invented the Night of Day. Sounded like something they might try...
The pencilling for the next challenge is done, just need to scan and color...

Bubble Helmet Bonanza!
(Too bad they're not wearing name tags as well. Snerk. Then again, there's hardly enough fabric to attach those to!)
Veilmist is super sassy cool. That pose! She reminds me of a Bond Girl. Moonraker? (I know, I'm in the wrong decade. Still, I expect Roger Moore to drift by any minute now.)
Teacher looks coyly flirtatious, yes, but a bit uncomfortable as well. Maybe she doesn't like being that exposed? It's cold in space, after all... Where has her hair gone?
Somehow, I'd like it if Theena's symbiotic monitors wore helmets as well, but those would a) be unnecessary and b) probably make her look as if she'd suffered an accident in a glassware factory...

This a pretty close race this time.
Veilmist: Why, the poor lass probably feels improperly clothed without that totally see-through bit of fabric attached to the back of her 'pants. Yet she soldiered on to give good holo. Oh, boys....
Teacher: I don't think she really gets the concept, but magically shrugged and got to work. (I'll bet she's donating her prize money to charity.) Glad she kept the flowers. Surprised she gots no hair...Shady managed to shove wads o'locks under her skullcap.
Theena: My favorite! Very flattering coloring and lighting. You could take just the bubble part of the pic and it'd be a nice cameo. Good show, girl!
Shikari: Is this the right holo? It looks like she was walking off the set to have a little space-nosh when someone called her name, she turned, and SNAP. She looks uncomfortable (and not as well lit as she could be) in that bubble.
Lady Memory: It's all in the expression, baby. Well, the posture too. And the elliptical helmet works.

I agree that Theena is particualry awesome in this shot! It's like she was born for this pic!
Both Veilmist and Lady Memory look good, in a very standard exotically sexy space babe mode. Neither really stands out the way Theena does, however.
Teacher and Shikari both actually tone down their exoticness for this challenge, and I think both suffer because of it. For Teacher, though, I'm not sure she could've done much more given the theme of this round. Shikari, as others have pointed out, could have.
So, I'm voting out Shikari.

THEENA: Wow. Can this girl take the whole contest? I'm starting to think she CAN. The symbiowhozits, surprisingly, have only added to her sexiness. Dean knows how to bring the best out of this lass!
LADY MEMORY & VEILMIST: Sexy, in a space-pedestrian sort of way. They definitely get passes here, with notices for both that Theena is going to kick their lovely asses if they don't step it up a notch.

Quis was totally right about Shikari's wings. I just forgot! Bad.
I enjoyed doing these drawings (I mean...c'mon!), but the coloring made them better. I appreciate Lash's comment about possible slack of quality because of all the quantity. I think there is something to that. I've done more sketches that I wouldn't like to use, more than normal.
I'm hoping the next challenge goes well. Here's a hint... the wardrobe choice has been depicted by me, here at LegionWorld in the past....

A race of fliers such as the Kwai has to consider aerodynamics. Perhaps there is a greater meaning in loose ceremonial garb.
I forgot to mention that I did like Tiger's headwrap. (I was reading it as a wrap rather than a structured hat.) But the dress...ouch.

Hmm... this particular challenge is going to be difficult to decide.
Let me go on record first off as saying that I think Theena's symbiote actually hurt her for the first time, this round. She tries, but she just can't pull of the "sleek" look that is what makes the all-black style appealing.
However, one's vote does not necessarily go to the candidate whose picture one thinks is weakest in this round.
While I was thinking going into this round that it would be time to turn my attention to Flower, I was actually really impressed by her pic this round.
Lady Memory also continues to look great, despite the fact that I've been looking for an excuse to start voting for her all game.
Which leaves Veilmist. And the fact that I find the veil kind of distracting in the latest pic, and that I haven't been too enthusiastic about her for awhile in this game.
So I'm voting for VEILMIST.

The Teacher looks a little uncomfortable in black. Presumably because when plants die, they sometimes turn black. Still the Rose, helps offset things.
Veilmist is looking lovely. Hopefully she learns that sometimes less is more as in less skin showing actually makes her more beautiful.
Theena is looking very nice. Her makeup works with the black outfit from a stunning look.
Which leaves Lady Memory. I have to say Black is not her color. Even moreso than with Teacher. Which is kind of surprizing.

Teacher isn't doing it for me. Sitting, prim and proper and stern looking, I could go for, standing, arms outflung as if to embrace the world, I could go for. But sitting with arms outflung? What's up with that?
Veilmist, as always, doesn't do much for me. (Grandma, what enormous botox-y lips you have!)
Lady Memory is nice, very 'Bond-girl,' but Theena is my favorite here. I like the tilt of her head, and toting around her own stage lighting is a neat touch.

Teacher: If she really were part of an FiB organisation, from that picture I'd say she had to be pretty high in the hierarchy. That is, she's at least looking like one used to giving orders - strong-willed, projecting calm determination, and remaining comfortably seated all the while. Love the eye-catching single red rose. What is she doing with her arms, though?
Veilmist: Even the colour-coordinated veil doesn't help - she looks a bit bland to me, somehow. Maybe it really is the eyes, yes.
Theena wins this round, hands-down. The strong contrasts in her picture are really striking. (She also bears resemblance to Nana Visitor/Kira Nerys from DS9, I'd say, who was admittedly less orangey-yellowish in the face, but still... the make-up and especially the hair style remind me of her.)
Lady Memory is looking as if she wants to severely discipline the next person who's unlucky enough to encounter her. Help.

Oh, Lady Memory in a swashbuckler-like outfit! The mind staggers at how cool this could have been, if she hadn't stood there like a lump with her hand on the bot like it's some sort of pet or something. Pretty, but lifeless. She must go!

TEACHER. I wonder why she chose to wear a bikini? (No objection, just wonderin'. She's kinda all-or-nearly-nothing, isn't she?) The Every 10 Years Monster (lookin' good I must say! Like that coloring!) seems maybe a bit puzzled; it's used to sentients fleeing, not dancing. I do like the alternatives to the standard punchout. No, Teacher doesn't seem to be the kind for physical violence, but you never really know, do you?
LADY MEMORY. Dreamy didn't say they had to fight yon beastie. I can't remember the Klorran Refuse Bot for the life of me, but Refuse Bot sounds pretty peaceful. And fine with a photo shoot. (Actually it's sounding more and more like Tenzil.) My problem with this picture is that Lady M. doesn't look Yakka Mahor (greenish-blue), she looks like a city dweller(non-greenish blue). Considering who this is, it's weird. Also, it looks like she's wearing no pants. Yikes!
