Oh, goodie! Zombies was something completely new for me to try, so I gave it my all. I think I gradually got better.

My first attempt was, of course, Saturn Girl's (reanimated) ROTTING CORPSE!

 -

Posted by MLLASH on :

Second attempt was Lightning Lad. He looks more like a lizard zombie though.

 -

Posted by MLLASH on :

With Duo Damsel, I started enjoying that I didn't have to worry about getting angles and proportions anywhere near close to right, which is a good thing for me. [Big Grin]

Zombie Jan-- a bit less dessicated but nonetheless sorta creepy I thought...

 -

Posted by MLLASH on :

This was my favorite... put some thought behind this... maybe super-bouncing is not a good power for a reanimated corpse...

 -

Posted by MLLASH on :

Pardon my indulgence... Velvet is a character from MATTER-EATER LAD: THE SERIES... Flesh Eaters is a strip joint on Evillo's planet Tartarus...

Oh! Oh God. It's like what happened to whatshername in Slither. Oh I can only imagine how that can feel.

Lash, even though your 'dango style is kinda cartoony with vivid colors, you draw really creepy zombies!!! Yikes!

Gah, the picture of Chuck makes me a little ill....

Jan is probably the creepiest of all, because it's so subtle.

You've made me wonder if the Luornus would try to eat each other's brains of if they'd unite.

I love to hate zombies!

My darling Dream Girl, all zombie-fied. Notice her hair is still perfect and the Super Cosmetics... of Space! are flawless, despite the decaying face.

For a moment I couldn't tell if that was Brin or Comet Queen.

Posted by MLLASH on :

Can cartoony really be creepy? I am trying...

this shot was inspired by the Bates/Grell era... Bates would have written an 8-page zombie LSH tale featuring only 4 characters...

I wish there was more interest in this gallery but I can understand its limited appeal!

Sorry. I'm just not that good when it comes to zombies. Nice Con picture, though.

Okay MoLA Supporters! It's time to switch themes from ZOMBIES to:

CHAMELEON BOY

Have some fun with it!

Cham learns a lesson about patience during the holiday season when he has to sit through a rather frightening rendition of the Nutcracker hour after hour after hour after hour...

No, he certainly doesn't.

Especially when he tries to cheer Ayla up for her birthday in this set of drabbles I made for Snakeguru Lass for her birthday.

Okay, at least now I understand the no-mouth thing. When I first saw that, I thought Sketchy was doing some kind of Sanrio tribute and I got confused because a Sanrio tribute would've had wayyyy different eyes. And of course, some kind of pastel bow would be involved.

Nevermind. :/

Posted by cleome on :

Oh, and since Sarky's established a case for recycling, here's a link to the Cham/Vi fic I'm still working on:

Baby, You're Rich

Thousands have hailed it as-- okay, no. But several people have used words to describe it that do not include the phrase, "Congratulations on helping perfect the cure for insomnia." Also, nobody I've thanked for helping me out has yet demanded that their names be removed. [cough]

[tiptoes out]

Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :

Sorry about that. And don't worry, those people were probably just cranking because their parents were fumigating the basement and they had to adjust themselves to sunlight for three days.

Posted by cleome on :

No need to be sorry. Living bug and/or rodent-free is always a good thing. Unless you're a bug, a rodent, or a shapeshifter who likes to slum with either/both, of course...

[Cool] A lot of these would probably work really well as avatars.

Oh, and thanks for letting me see Supergirl in an actual pair of pants (almost). Never thought I'd live long enough for that.

Posted by MLLASH on :

Nice, I like being able to see all the costumes side by side like that. Only one missing is Giffen's late-Baxter era hooded one.

I think I like Cham's silver-age dark blue the best. The sleeveless one (Kitson) is nice too. Of course the red/purple is classic, these are my top 3.

Never liked the purple/yellow as much and the muted yellow and blue of LEGIONNAIRES wasn't a big fave either. They were just alright to me.

I could see this working as a visual poll for all the Legionnaires. You should start a thread, Boyblue!

Ah, for me that's 2nd. First is definitely the one from the animated series (It's basically Chemical King's original costume with the collar changed. Don't know if that's deliberate or not. Somebody needs to draw those two, plus the AS Violet as a jazz trio. They're very design co-ordinated.)

I liked the muted yellow-and-green, but I liked nearly every costume I've seen from that era. That was Sprouse and/or Moy, right? I die a little from the adorable-ness of that era every time I think about it, even though I still haven't read the actual stories.

[LOL] I was never aware about this - but you're completely right, this has been one of the very few moments a Supergirl version had pants...

Yes, the late Giffen's is missing. I don't have the books and I have never really been quite interested in that time.. I know, it's a shame!

You mean a poll for favourite costumes? For all Legionnaires? *sigh* I'm afraid I am too slow for that. And then the versions around 1990 would be always missing ;-)

Another Lo3W drabble, with the two Chams meeting and having misconceptions about Yera.

...

Reep Daggle, Chameleon, was walking down the hall of Legion HQ, when he was joined by Reep Daggle, Chameleon.

"Hey, you must be the other Chameleon."

"Yes, pleased to meet you. Tell me, have you found our adult counterpart?" 3B Chameleon asked the question to his doppleganger.

"Not yet. I haven't noticed any Durlans on that adult team." Chameleon told him.

"Oh, wait, look down there." 3B Cham pointed out the window of the hall, down below. They saw something take shape from something else, sprouting Durlan antennae, only...

"Oh my God! I'm a girl!"

Below, they say a Durlan Legionnaire in a pink suit, only it was a woman. And beside her, was her husband.

"And I'm married to Leviathan?!"

Her husband, Colossal Boy of New Earth. Chameleon gapped, while 3B Chameleon pondered this.

"Who? I thought they were named Micro Lad, or Colossal Boy, or whatever." 3B Cham asked his doppleganger.

"But, but how could I be a girl?! I mean, I, I need to sit down." Cham muttered to himself, babbling and leaving his doppleganger alone.

So, in this universe, I'm a girl? And I married Colossal Boy? Does this mean I have to marry Colossal Boy in my universe? Is this the destiny my universe has in store for me?

The way that last part played in his mind it was like a melodramatic scene in those old cartoons called "anime".

"Oh there you are, Chameleon. Brainy's looking for you."

3B Cham turned to see Micro Lad coming down the hall.

Now's the time to find out.

"And I've been looking for you." 3B Cham said, improvising.

"You have." Micro Lad asked, curious.

"You bet... sexy."

[LOL] [LOL] [LOL]

That can't end well.

Also it's not anime. It's Love. The band.

quote:
...I heard a funny thing
Somebody said to me
You know that I could be in love with almost anyone
But I think that people are the greatest fun...
-- "Alone Again, Or"

BTW, check out Joey Burns in the Calexico cover: The acoustic guitarist. 15-20 or so years ago, he woulda' been perfect as Waid/Kitson's version of Invisible Kid.

Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :

Hmm, It's Love was also the name of a song by a band named Glay.

Posted by cleome on :

Bands should not name themselves "Love." It makes it hell to Google 'em.

BTW, my Threeboot money would be on Cham/Sun Boy. It's been well-established that theologically-based fisticuffs are a surefire route to saving your opponent therein a place next to you at the Senior Prom. If they still have those in a thousand years, anyway.

What wrong with you, I say you Dirk dead.

Posted by cleome on :

Puh-lease. This is comics. Nobody they say is dead is really dead.

Tch. You kids today... [No]

Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :

If Dirk's still alive when Prime got through with him, does he even WANT to be alive? He's like Mr. Freeze's wife.

Well, you know that Crisis-O-Rama makes the whole thing like the jokes about Midwest weather. If you don't like it, wait an hour. It'll change.

If I had any true principles, I'd go shoplift a copy of Original Crisis-O-Rama from Borders and burn it live and/or on youtube. Also I'd throw myself on the pyre. As penance for helping initially feed this endless round of brain-screwery.

Also, I'm kinda' sad that I can't contribute any pictures to this thread. I'm still trying to get my ill-gotten illustration/graphics programs out of MacLimbo. Also the scanner still hates me. [sulk]

Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :

Glad I live on the East Coats. Less tornados. Since there're less root cellars to hide in with Aunty Em.

Ever thought of using a library scanner?

And don't throw yourself on the pyre. Wait until Final Crisis comes out, steal that and Infinite Crisis, THEN throw yourslef on the pyre. Don't know why I'm joking bout it since I liked Final Crisis. Oh well.

Also, don't know WHY I didn't ask this in the other thread, I thought leggings were 80s? Persistant, aren't I?

Posted by cleome on :

I wasn't talking the Jennifer Beals-era leggings, Son. I was talking the old-timey logger kind. See, back in the 1990s, (she said, reaching for another glass of prune juice) erudite young edjamacated college students in Big City grunge-rock bands all affected the look of unemployed rural blue-collar guys who would've beaten the tar out of them if they'd ventured more than an hour's drive out of PDX or Seattle.

This seemed a positive pinnacle of goofiness at the time. Later on, when their heirs in hipness started dressing as truckers and gas-station attendants, we realized that we were wrong.

Now go draw a picture of all three Chams and all three Gims as grunge-rockers and post it. Otherwise you're going to get me banned for what I've done to this poor helpless thread.

Grrr...

Technically not grunge, but look at the two guys in the center of this sketch for the correct vintage 1990s real-men-wear-leggings look.

Hmmm... one of those guys is bald. Here's five bucks for you to Photoshop in the antennae and orange skintone.

Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :

Hmmm... all this talk of past culture has made me think about that "Dance" Museuem Exhibit coming up. And here's thinking of bald Yera as Sinead and Rokk & Lydda as Sonny and Cher.
