I admit i am no rocket scientist, so what allows other posters to see whether i am online or not? Is my post-name in highlight when i am online?

If you click on somebody's name, it takes you to their profile page where you can find out where they were most recently, under the "This User Was Last Seen:" feature.

LAM is in the "inane posts" thread, while Arachne is viewing Viv/Luna's Micros...

I was confused about the highlighted names as opposed to the non-highlighted names.

I am definitely online, but my name's not highlighted...

higlighted just means you've clicked on them in the past.

I'm not actually online at the moment but I plan to be in the future and I'll post this in the past.
