Similar game to ones we've played before:

Each poster in turn names a 30th/31st century world, or setting, using the next letter in the alpahbet.

I'll start with Arbro, home planet of the Tree Men.

Ektra. Mon-El was on assignment to this world during Star Boy's court martial.

Ah, but I like to break my pattern now and then.

Pasnic. Home of the "War Between the Nights and Days" (preboot), and home of Validus (postboot).

Sorry to hijack your thread PB but let's give it another round!

The next A is for...

AVALON : Which, according to the 2984 Encyclopedia Galactica is "A medieval back-water of the Milky Way galaxy, the xenophobic inhabitants have had limited dealings with other worlds"

Starhaven, naturally!

You just haven't seen us in the holonews recently because we've escaped most of the attention of the United Planets government, as yet, in this version of Legion reality.

At least, little has been set up beyond trade and consular relations. We'd rather sit back and be productive, entrepreneurial types, taking in credits all over the Orion Arm from navigation and bounty-hunting.

When the Legion decides to recruit some supremely fast, ultra-accurate trackers, though, to go beyond just the pathfinding it's been getting, we're ready to help. My sister has applied to be a cadet already!

NEW RULE!

At this point I am going to jump in an make a new rule. Since the goal of this game is to come up with as many planets (or other significant planetary bodies) as possible, duplicate placenames will be disallowed.

When the exact same place is known by two different names (i.e. Earth/Terra, Colu/Yod, Pirate Planetoid/New Tartuga) using one will preclude use of the other.

So, we are still on "T." Try again, Vee.

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

NEW RULE (2):

I tried had to come up with a "Q" this last round before IB beat me too it. Since the goal is to come up with as many worlds as possible, I hearby declare that a majority vote of all those who have posted at least one world thus far will be sufficient to declare a letter spent.

Of course, this won't precluse someone from posting a planet of that letter, should they know of one, once it comes around again. But once the vote is take, that letter can be passed on in order to keep the game going.

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

And while we are waiting on Vee to come up with a "T," here is an update of where we are to date:

No need to thank me. You're velcome.

Posted by Juan on :

Hmm. Is that really a Legion World? Has anything Legion-related happened there? I really know very little about the Adventure era, but the relationship of Vruun to the Legion seems... well, very, very tangential at best (this all according to that world's description, I really know nothing about it). Others?

(I do have one more V world in reserve)

Considering that, at the appropriate time, I plan on breaking out planets that have only ever been listed on the Mission Monitor Board, I think Vruun counts.

That does bring up an interesting point in detwrmining if Ekron counts. Have we ever had any proof that it is a planet. Could it be the name of a city, a cult, or even the really big guy the eye was gouged out of....

I know, but being fickle, I reserve the right to change the rules as I go along. [Wink]

Since starting the game I have decided that I'd like to get a planet count, and see how many worlds we can come up with. Although I am counting named moons, planetoids, and specific intersteller regions (i.e. the gorilla nebula)

So under this interpretation, the UP would not count. It is the same as if we were doing countries... Germany would count, but not NATO.

Of course, to continue the thread once we have exhausted worlds, we can debate which ones were actual UP members...

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

Of course, there is also Yorrg, the world on which a young Lex Luthor pretended a virus was turning him into a lizard.

Should we count Yorrg and Yorgg as the same world, much as we do Zoon and Zuun?

My bad, I should have checked myself before posting. The correct spelling is Yorrg and Yorrgian fever. Here's the entry from Chaim Legion help file...

Yorrg

Yorrg is a planet inhabited by bipedal reptiles (Adventure Comics # 325). It is the source of Yorrgian fever, a disease that both R. J. Brande and his cousin Doyle had been afflicted with (Secrets of the Legion of Super-Heroes # 1-3, Legion of Super-Heroes (3rd series) # 8).

As for a "C" how about Cizea a world inhabited by sentinent birds which look like Earth pigeons.

I believe "F" is up next...

Yikes! Sorry about the Canopus thing. I should have checked the list first.

Falkone IV, a world where the development of firearms was impossible.

Hyrnak is a world that gave the Legion, as a gift, a plant that grows into an animal.

So, do we skip I? I can't think of anything anymore. What do you guys think?

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

I have not found any other "I" through the first four volumes of the Archives. I vote we skip. If someone finds one they can slip it in when "I" comes around again.

So, for now, the official skip list includes: I, Q, U

And the infamous prison planet, Takron-Galtos

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

VAALOR-7, another briefly mentioned UP member world.

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

W-27y My notes that I made on the first 4 vols. of the Archives, just for this thread, only say "Legion vs. creatures," so I assume the Legion fought something there.

Posted by Varalent on :

Xak~ home of one of the planetary heroes that refused to help the LSH fight the Sun-Eater. Also home of the Xakkan Raiders.

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

YW-89 As opposed to WD-40, I suppose. It's somewhere in vol 4 of the Legion Archives, can't remember what, if anything, was special about it.

Posted by Portfolio Boy on :

And, I'll post a "Z" just so I can post a list of what we've come up with so far in preparation for the next round.

Zinnat Home of the animal books. No, not books about animals, books that are animals.

At this point, let just open it up to any world we can think of not already listed....

Posted by Future on :

I'm skimming through random issues of Legionnaires for obscure (and not so obscure) planets visited during the post-boot days...

Earth's moon, Luna, has been the home to Leland McCauley's corporation and battleground for several Legionnaire adventures.

Wellur, the planet of purple, cat-like humanoids who lived in fear from the Legion as their king used the Legion's likenesses to kill citizens. Cos, Imra, and Garth destroyed the likenesses and disposed of the king, though the citizens never truly warmed up to the Legion. One of the better stories of the late Legionnaires run.

Athram, homeworld of the aptly named Athramites! Fashion lovers, all.

Silvan, I believe, was the homeworld to one-time Legion draftee Lume. He never joined the team, but later aided M'Onel in saving his people from Khunds in Legionnaires #56.

Binder-T is a desolite planetoid where Mordru's talismans were hidden by Mysa...to no avail.

Tharn was the ice-world Kinetix's mother was on a dig at when she found a wounded Mysa Nal. The magic Mysa enshrouded them both with affected the unborn Zoe, establishing a link between Kinetix and Mysa.

That planet seems quite the opposite from the similarly named world Tharr, the humid and hot homeworld of Polar Boy!

..whoo boy. That's about all I can find for now. I'm sure there are many more planets mentioned only once in this era of Legiondom though.

Omega Colony, mentioned in Legionnaires 60 as the current Karate Kid's homeworld.

Calish Aetia, homeworld of the 5-year Gap Legionnaire Echo.

Teall, Quislet's other-dimensional home.

Almeer-5, a planet which XS visited when she was lost in the timestream.

Phlogista, a fiery planet which the Legion first visited through the use of the Anywhere Machine.

Mellorus, an aquatic world of fish-creatures seen in the reboot.

Manna-5, homeworld of the heroine Xera, one of those captured by Universo during the Universo project. She later enrolled in the UP Military Academy run by Chuck and Luornu.

Quaal-III is Comet Queen's homeworld.
