I've been doing a whole series about my favorite actresses in the a.p.a. I'm in... It's just impossible for me to narrow it down to only 10!
Posted by DrakeB3004 on :
I'm going to try to base this on talent and not just who I'm hot for (but a few might make it in there anyway): - Cate Blanchett - Maria Elizabeth Mastrantonio - Audrey Hepburn - Joan Allen - Meryl Streep - Laura Linney - Winona Ryder - Ingrid Bergman - Samantha Morton - Meg Ryan - Jenna Fischer ("The Office" - probably my fav tv actress at the moment. She's the best at achieving what the original show set out to do)

Just a word of caution. The first person to put Julia Roberts in their top 100 will be banned.

LW posters know about my long-term love affair/crush on Audrey Hepburn, whose poster has adorned my wall since I was 11 years old. She, in my own fantasy mind, is the perfect woman for me .
But I'll do a top ten soon...

It's hard to settle on just ten, but I might pick these, listed alphabetically, of course:
Julie Andrews Doris Day Judi Dench Olympia Dukakis Audrey Hepburn Katharine Hepburn Myrna Loy Ginger Rogers Maggie Smith Loretta Young
Posted by Mystery Lad on :
Jean Arthur Barbara Stanwyck Katharine Hepburn Bernadette Peters Claudette Colbert Joan Allen Ingrid Thulin Julianne Moore Reese Witherspoon Theresa Wright

No worries from me, Scott. She and Tom Cruise make my top list of "what the hell are you people thinking? Them, great? You gotta be yankin' my chain!" worsts. Right behind them, John Travolta and Jane "im not Fonda her".

My Top Ten:
Audrey Hepburn Igrid Bergman Naomi Watts Rosario Dawson Lauren Becall Uma Thurman Nicole Kidman Donna Reed Natalie Wood Tina Fey (I'm counting her, mainly because she's my favorite female Comedian - love her!)
Potential "Young Hollywood" actresses that may one day make this list: Rachel McAdams - by far the most charismatic actress of 2005. This, I fear, is my new crush.
Keira Knightley - very beautiful, but very talented and independent enough to carve out her own movie path with the projects she picks.
Jessica Alba - no, not really a top ten contender, but I like her though .

Well, let's see...
Ellen Foley Elisabeth Sladen Melissa Joan Hart Megan Gallagher Joanna Lumley Raquel Welch Julie Andrews Diana Rigg Barbara Feldon Caroline Munro

I'm usually against retro silly age stuff...but not when it comes to Raquel Welch. She wins. I have it bad for vintage Raquel.
Others: Julianne Moore, Kathy Bates, Gwyneth Paltrow, Helena Bonham Carter, Minnie Driver, Joan Allen, Connie Nielsen, Jennifer Connelly, and a ton of others I am sure I can't remember.
Posted by MLLASH on :
Katherine Hepburn Meg Ryan Geena Davis Anjelica Huston Goldie Hawn Racheal McAdams Ingrid Bergman Renee Zellweger Kate Beckinsale Sandra Bullock
Worthy of noting
Sally Field Kiera Knightly Michelle Pfeiffer Catherine O'Hara Jennifer Connelly Andie MacDowell Kate Winslet

First Ten I think of...
Erin Gray (I mean...c'mon, really?) Audrey Hepburn Sigourney Weaver Dame Judi Dench Rosario Dawson Madaline Khan Helen Mirren Kathy Bates Joan Cusak Racheal McAdams
Honorary Mention to Linda Hamilton

That's a tough one, I kept having to whittle names from the list, until I had ten, and still have buyer's remorse about having to cut some!
Cate Blanchett Angela Bassett Michelle Pfieffer Madeline Khan Sally Field Jennifer Connelly Charlize Theron Julianne Moore Gabrielle Union Sigourney Weaver
I'd have picked most of the female cast of Buffy and Firefly and Babylon 5, for instance, if I could! (Star Trek, on the other hand, hasn't had an actress with more poise than Nichelle Nichols, IMO, but maybe that's nostalgia talking...) So I just dropped the TV actresses entirely and went for (primarily) movie actresses.

Hmmm... this was a toughie, because a lot of the women I do think are really great actresses (Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, and Katherine Hepburn, for example) aren't necessarily the same women that I'd consider my favorites - the ones that I actually get excited about seeing in a movie.
So with that caveat, I guess my absolute two favorites would have to be:
Kate Winslet and Ingrid Bergman
and then I'd round out my top ten with:
Liv Ullmann Ingrid Thulin Audrey Hepburn Julie Delpy Irčne Jacob Rachel Weisz Charlize Theron and Tilda Swinton

Juliette Binoche
I'll have to think about the next nine...
