I have only recently discovered this show through reruns on WGN and Comedy Central. LOVIN' IT!!!!

Zach Braff is a total nerd-hottie and I've had a crush on Donald Faison since back in the CLUELESS days!

Dr. Cox ain't bad either.

And nice to see someone from ROSEANNE has gone on to success. Go Sarah Chalke!

Favorite lower-tier characters: Laverne and Doug!

Zach and Donald may well replace Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as my favorite straight gay couple!

Looks like I've got some DVD purchasing to do.

Yeah Lash, Scrubs is a blast! I've enjoyed watching it over the years, and think Braff's narration is a lot of fun. It really brings the show to life! [Smile]

Has it been cancelled, or are they bringing it back midseason again?

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I haven't seen it on the schedule lately, but i don't watch much NBC. It really was/is a good, fun show.

"Scrubs" is awesome -- congrats on discovering the show LLash! It's a mid-season at this piont though - don't know when they plan on airing new eps.

The repeats I've seen are being shown in a weird order - they'll have two eps in a row, but from the fourth then first seasons which can be weird for those who don't know the show.

Not to detract from the greatness of the show, but it reminds me a bit of "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" - that old Fox pseduo-Ferris Beuller show. Anyone remember that?

I also recently discovered it via Comedy Central reruns. Hysterical show! The head doctor (the real jerk one) cracks me up in how he's such an @$$!

SEASON 3 prchased today!

Posted by KidChaos on :

One of the few truly great sitcoms currently on air. (I *think* its still on with new eps?)

It's all the great side-characters that make this show so funny. I think my favorite is Jordan (Cox's ex/baby-momma)

And The Todd is clearly the hottest guy on the show!

Re:Sarah Chalke- who would've thought the horrible Fake-Becky actually had real acting ability? She must have taken some classes between Roseanne and Scrubs or something. Hearing of her involvment in this show actually kept me at bay for the first couple seasons.

Watching this series on dvd is really the best way to go, as NBC's airing of it is very erratic and out of order.

Scrubs will be back with new episodes mid-season again.

I never really got into this show till this year. A friend recommended it, saying it was the only sitcom he liked any more. This being someone whose judgement I trust, I checked it out and, lo and behold, he was right!

Just watched disk 3 of season 1...

The episodes with Brendan Frasier (sp?) are hysterical. And I do know what eventually jappens.

I also loved the 4 St. Elsewhere docs showing up.

Just a great show...the wife and I are already talking of buying this soon...as well as House.

Good news, everyone!

SCRUBS returns THIS THURSDAY-- yep, tomorrow-- with all-new wackiness!

Posted by Omni Craig on :

And it is on after the Office!! (My current favorite sitcom!!!)

Looks like NBC's trying to rebuild their powerhouse Thursday lineups, like years gone by, but now with

My Name is Earl
The Office
Scrubs
30 Rock

All 4 shows are relatively popular and critically acclaimed. Haven't watched 30 Rock yet this season, but I believe most folks said the thing that made it weak was the show that followed it earlier this season (the dreadful "20 Good Years" with Tambor and Lithgow...that show basically got a loud dose of the current Legion rally cry "EAT IT GRANDPA!")

Glad to see Scrubs is officially back in a regular timeslot!! Looks to be a good line up on Thursday! (Except of course they have to compete with CSI and Grey's Anatomy, but that's why we can record shows, right?)

Moi, aussi. I just started watching it during my ongoing "incarceration", oddly enough... where are Elliott and Carla when it's time for my spongebaths?! [LOL] [Wink] [Love]

I loved the episode where Elliott became convinced she had magic healing boobs. I'm sure her flashing you wouldn't have hindred your recovery! (thank GAWD you're back, BTW!!!)

I watched last Thursday night (new season)... only JD could knock a girl up without having sex with her.

Last week was my first "first-run" episode. The baby's name gave me the giggles-- my OT's little girl is named Isabella, too! [Smile] I couldn't wait to get down to therapy Friday morning to tell her; she watches SCRUBS but had missed it, so she was tickled when I told her... [Big Grin]

Well, tonight's episode was a scream again!

Loved the boobie-juice scene, the opening with JD taking pictures of Keith's ass, Carla and Jordan's tearful/hilarious confessions of the many ways they've wanted to kill their babies (and Turk's horrified reactions) and Elliott's "if you're a doody-face, say nothing" to Kelso.

NEXT WEEK: SCRUBS THE MUSICAL!

Sometimes the show can get a bit treacly with the "Dr Cox teaches JD a lesson" bits near the end, but it's a great mix of humor, character and heart. I've been watching the DVD's and it's been rewarding to see the characters develop, as well as see all the little recurring or self-referential jokes that pop up.

Something that struck me after watching last week's episode and the ER episode right after: the characters' problems on Scrubs (new baby fears, career jealousy, just wanting a few minutes of peace and quiet) are actually a lot more realistic than the characters' problems on ER (being held hostage, having your apartement on fire, being arrested.) Granted, all those things on ER really happen to people but if I worked somewhere where all those things were happening at the same time I'd kind of freak out. I still like ER but they lost their grip on reality years ago but not in an amusing way like Scrubs.

Posted by Blockade Boy on :

I agree 100% Matlock. As they say nowadays, "ER has jumped the shark."

Scrubs' stories usually hit home with me.

I *loved* it!! I want to sing "Guy Love" in karaoke!

And, typical of SCRUBS, they helped balance out the silliness with a twinge of melancholy (the "missing the music in your head" ending). Stuff like that is why this show works so very well for me.

My only complaint about the musical episode: no Jordan or Keith!

I know this show isn't huge in the ratings, but it has multiple episodes in the top 20 ITunes downloaded TV shows (per Entertainment Weekly). I sure hope networks these days pay attention to that kind of thing.

Not quite yet Lash. Not only is NBC waiting until the last second again, ABC (which owns/produces the show and has signed the cast for another season) may just take it back. So you may have to look for it on your local ABC station next season.

I like how JD said in a previous episode that he loves "Grey's" because it's like they taped their lives and put it on the air (poke poke). They've also poked fun at "House" (having Cox walk around the hospital with a cane in one ep) and I loved the "St Elsewhere" guest stars (but sadly, no Denzel).

Should I start collecting those from Season 1? What's your favorite season? I've got a Best Buy giftcard that'll buy me three seasons, almost...

And the main reason I caught this week's ep was because it started at 9 again. the previous 2 weeks, it was on at 9:30. [Razz] Of course, it was an hourlong episode, so I was still up and out from 9:30 to 10 anyway... [LOL]

I rented Season 1 from Blockbuster before I decided to buy. I had to buy Season 3 'cuz when I went to buy, S2 was out!

I'm jonesing for S's 2 and 4!

Okay, cool. Best Buy has 1-4 available online, and they're taking preorders for Season 5.

I just wish Comedy Central would stop rotating the same batch of older episodes, with the occasional new-to-me ep. Reminds me of the good ol' days when I collected Topps Star Wars cards, and all the doubles I'd get trying to get those last couple I needed for my set...! [LOL]

Man, it's such a crime that Scrubs isn't the big megahit comedy of its time! I mean, really, it's so much better and funnier than Friends Seinfeld, or anything else seen on television the past decade and a half or so!

You da man, Lardy!

Scrubs is a hoot. I like it that the stories balance inane comedy with serious points about relationships. It often leaves me thinking as well as laughing (hard to do at the same time).

Posted by Lard Lad on :

You obviously have good taste! [Smile]

Seriously, though, I have many LOL (you know, actually "laughing out loud") moments in EVERY EPISODE of Scrubs! Friends and Seinfeld have had many that barely elicited a SMILE from me!

Scrubs does serious well, but never forgets the funny--NEVER! Man, what a great show!

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

I've never gotten the overall "joke" of "Seinfeld". It's sort of like David Letterman, who tries to be too smart to be funny. "Friends" took me more than 10 years to warm up to. At times, the characters are smarmy, selfish, and spoiled; other times, there is a genuine sense of warm friendship that comes through.

Most sitcoms get old after awhile, and this is also true for "Scrubs". There's a point where watching Dr. Cox abuse J.D. becomes boring, because I've seen it so many times before, or where Elliot is too much of a basketcase, or where Turk and Carla have yet another bump in their relationship to overcome. Ho hum.

But what keeps drawing me back are those flashes of insight that J.D. learns and imparts to the audience. In one episode, he does "the right thing" by persuading the hospital to operate on a patient whose lawyer daughter threatens to sue if anything goes wrong. Turk does "the wrong thing" by ordering a hypochondriac patient to stay away from him. As a result, Turk gets sued while J.D. ends up in bed with the lawyer. (Who says doing the right thing has no rewards! [Wink] )

What makes this work for me is that J.D. had no idea if the lawyer was only pretending to be nice to him (she said she was using him when she acted vulnerable, then she said she wasn't) -- but he had to act on his conscience and take a risk. Turk was only thinking of himself and put his own wishes above the patients' needs. This is almost a grade-school version of morality, but wait -- the story isn't quite resolved.

As the episode ends, J.D. chooses to be with the lawyer instead of returning Turk's anguished call. He puts his desire for sex above friendship, so he acts just as selfishly as Turk did. (I didn't see part two of this episode.)

The characters are complex, and the relationships aren't easily resolved. But J.D. and the rest do struggle to do the right thing, and their very human attempts are often hilarious.

I was a big fan for years but the last few seasons I thought was a bit too silly. Still love it though.

I dunno, I like that they do serious stuff, too. Like JD's girlfriend getting pregnant and Laverne... you know. And JD's learning curve and sort of growing up to embrace his inner-nerd and things like that keep the characters endeared to me.

I love Scrubs. I'll be sad when it (most likely) ends after this season. Especially since very few series finales have ever truly left me with a fulfilled feeling...

I still can't get enough SCRUBS... I actually stop the DVD to watch the reruns on my local channel 9 at 6:30, and the 7-8 block on Comedy Central. My mom says I'm worse than her husband is watching M*A*S*H reruns... that's pretty bad... [Wink]

Well, after the clusterf@&# that was its last season on NBC, SCRUBS will be returning as a midseason replacement on ABC for a final 12-episode run. No start date or day and time announced yet. This was announced by Bill Lawrence on Zach Braff's MySpace page and corroborated in TVGuide's "Fall Line-ups" edition.

Posted by MLLASH on :

If it does well on ABC, I've read it will continue, even if Zach Braff and Judy Reyes leave. I assume the focus would shift more onto the plethora of secondaries.

Anyway I'm glad it will be back.

Posted by MLLASH on :

I read it on some SCRUBS site as I was searching for info about the alleged-now-reality upcoming season. Info likely best ingested with a grain of salt.

But apparently SCRUBS is a massive syndication moneymaker, currently on no less than THREE networks (WGN, Comedy Central and Nick at Nite), but ABC will apparently only make money off the episodes it produces, which may explain the possible "more seasons beyond this one" thingie.

I'm on "hope for the best" here. Hard to imagine a J.D.-less SCRUBS at any rate...

Posted by Pov on :

I'd actually probably be more disappointed without Judy. Turk and Carla has been THE relationship of SCRUBS. If they were to continue SCRUBS without her, I'd like to see her have a second baby, maybe a baby bro for Izzy ,and Judy could return as a guest-star from time to time.

Love this show but have always had trouble receiving NBC where i live, and since i don't have cable or satelite, get it the best way i can.

Hate that the show is falling away like this. It has always cracked me up.

Plus, the actresses that play Elliot, Carla and Jordan are H H H Hawt.

Hopefully CC airs them in the order intended, even though there was no official season-end...

This may have been asked before, but have they ever shown JD's mom on that show? I know they have had a phone conversation, but i can't remember the mom having been shown?

Posted by Pov on :

Not really; We hear her voice and see her hands tucking JD into bed as a kid. It's in an episode near the end of season 3, right after JD got Elliot to dump Sean for him, then realizes he doesn't love her. He goes to talk to his ex, Danni, to try and figure out why he keeps screwing up in his relationships; She asks him what his Mom was like, leading to said "flashback".

Posted by Pov on :

I checked YouTube for this clip from s03ep21, "My Self-Examination". JD's memory of his Mom runs from 0:20 to 0:33.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Hmmm, okay, given that Ritter played his dad, who would be cool for the mom?

And why haven't they ever shown her for real in the show? Kinda strange, don'tcha think?

The Season 7 DVD comes out next Tuesday, 11/11. Only 11 episodes, but Bestbuy.com has it for under $20. [Cool] Hope the extras are worth it.

Hopefully the eps are in the correct sequence... Still ticked that Comedy Central finally started airing S7, but in the order NBC did. [Roll Eyes]

Saw the first two episodes to air on ABC last night.

The tone of the show seems to have changed a bit. At the end of the first ep, they have a thing over the credits where JD is extorting them to work harder, not phone it in. It was meant to be a funny take off of the actors not phoning in their last season, but it didn't work to well, i thought. They really did seem to be phoning it in.

And i hate that. The show bounced around so much i really would have loved to see the energy and zaniness of the show give NBC the big old stink finger.

The second show was okay, the mostly sat around in chairs. The people just seemed...drained.

Posted by Kid Quislet on :

I noticed that the camera angles seem to be different since going to ABC. The fast pace switching from scene to scene is slower in this season.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I don't know if a lot of the main crew didn't return, but things look different as well. Like they changed the cafeteria, etc...

courtney cox looked like she wasn't starving herself to death anymore and looked very nice. I think if she had stayed with the show in different capacity/role, the show would still be in great shape.

I think she and the character of Jordan would have been a great catfight style of bitchiness. Shame she was only there for three eps, she brought some real energy.

Saw the next two episodes as well. Sarah Chalke is still a hottie, but they really need to do something with her hair. Looks badly dated, like a bad farrah fawcett.

Posted by Pov on :

I thought alot of the Courtney Cox stuff felt flat, myself. And the new interns were dumped on us all at once. They're growing on me, though. I've enjoyed everything since, especially the Cox/Kelso relationship and Ted & Ukelele gal. Ted's band rehearsing BOC's Don't Fear the Reaper to sing to pediatrics was hysterical... [ROTFLMAO]

Posted by DrakeB3004 on :

I think the show's definitely improved over last season. (aside from JD literally "phoning it in" for one episode) I like that they finally gave the Eliot/ Keith relationship proper closure, as JD and Eliot finally enter into a genuine adult relationship, the natural progression of the characters with JD becoming the "new Cox" as Cox has moved into the Chief position and how they've taken the new interns under their wing. Not crazy about Kelso becoming the goodly fount of wisdom, but I am glad that he's still on the show in some capacity.

I love Ukelele gal!!

I haven't seen anything after the comedy skit show, and only the first part of that. Was that it?

Posted by Pov on :

It's on tonight at 8... entering the series homestretch... [sigh]

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Is it coming back next season, even without Carla and JD?

Posted by Pov on :

I've heard rumblings of a retitled show, but nothing concrete. They're also losing show creator Bill Lawrence along with Braff and Judy Reyes, so I don't know how good it would be... [Hmmm?]

Posted by lil'rhino on :

I've read that the new interns are getting a spinoff.

Posted by MLLASH on :

Well, I dunno how this is gonna go. I saw tonight's ep (first I've seen at the new home on ABC) and the absence of JD, Carla, Dr. Cox, even Janitor totally hurt the episode for me. Where WAS everyone??!!?? At least Todd put in an appearance, but NONE of the other 2nd/3rd tier folks were around... Doug, Lonnie, Keith, Dr. Beardface, Col. Doctor, Gloria... I mean, WTF? This was a huge cast that I felt like it was gutted and poor Elliott and Turk were struggling to carry the episode alone.

The new guys were okay, I kinda liked the nerdy glasses intern and the chick intern trying to get the patient to fart-- I think she is my favorite.

I'll stay cautiously optimistic and definitely get this on DVD but I was somewhat disappointed. [Frown]

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I think that they are doing a guy breakup thing, the slow fade. The regulars are doing less and less and the new guys are doing more and more to get us used to them.

My reaction is...eh. The new crew just doesn't have that chemistry. The nice chick is nice, but not really hot enough to make me want to see her being a goofball more. the guy with the glasses has grown a lot since his child actor roles, and he's actually my favorite of the bunch, but I don't see him as having enough of a charm so far to help tote the load. The hot butch chick is...well, average at best.

I can see loosing JD and Carla, but to lose kelso, cox, Jan E. Tor and the rest...sorry. Not enough there.

Posted by DrakeB3004 on :

If they plan on having the newbies carry the show, the biggest problem is that there's no heart. There's no JD in the bunch. No one to give the show a point of view. If they try to make it a workplace ensemble show with no clear lead, I don't see it holding together.

Posted by Pov on :

The latest three episodes have been hitting all the right notes for me. The Bahamas 2-parter (My Soul on Fire) and My Cuz had me laughing more than any SCRUBS episode in the last two seasons, at least. It's nice that they're getting a proper wrap-up, spinoff or no.

Posted by Pov on :

P.S.-- "Weiner Cousins", *teehee*! [LOL]

From the SCRUBS FaceBook fansite-

heads up: the next new episode "My Chief Concern" has been moved to Tuesday May 5th at 8/7c on ABC due to President Obama's press conference. "My Finale" still airs Wednesday May 6th at 8/7c.
Only 2 eps left... [sigh]

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Dear god, the man is gonna press conference us to death. Well, sounds like a good night to rent a movie for me. I'll catch something interesting...like a documentary on paint drying.

*no, this isn't biased. I didn't watch bushes "press" conferences either. I can't stand the bs of either party anymore.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Well, crap. Its over.

Nice wrapup for the series, it had a little bit of everything from the long series in it, humor, slapstick, pathos, trickery, the truth at long last about pocket change...

I'll miss the show. there aren't a lot of shows out there that blend everything so well, comedy with a heart, and some outrageous plays against stereotype.

Good bye, Scrubs.

Now, someone...make with the funny.

I did finally get Season 8 and watched it all weekend. My earlier review of the above episode was hasty, I enjoyed it on second watch and enjoyed the entire season overall.

And that final episode... I very nearly choked up.

I've watched a couple episodes of the 9th season on Hulu and thought they were okay.

I've only seen one real good comedy to take the place of Scrubs, because I'm not seeing any great ones right now. Cougar Town is funny as hell.

I like Rules of Engagement and Big Bang, but they aren't quite as funny. Two and a half men...not so much anymore. How I met your mom.... lost it a whiel back for me.

What I would like to see is a great comedy with NO FREAKIN LIFE LESSONS, just be funny. A great slapstick even.

Maybe the should make Friday into a tv cable show. No effin life lessons, just funny $#!+ !

'kay, Hulu has the last 5 episodes of COUGAR TOWN Season 1 available now (episodes 19-23).

I watched ep. 19 and liked it a LOT! very SCRUBS. Having 'Jordan' there def. helped it feel SCRUBSy. I hear the Dr. Cox actor is joining the cast for Season 2!

Therefore, this thread is now dedicated to COUGAR TOWN, heir-apparent to SCRUBS.

Lash, that's so funny - I discovered Parks and Rec on Hulu a couple years back and got hooked. It's less dry than "the Office" was (I think they're the same creative team), and that cast is amazing.

I've NEVER watched an entire ep of Scrubs even though I've heard that it's hilarious. Huh.

I do sometimes watch Cougartown, but mostly because it's on around the same time as Modern Family. Now Modern Family can be HYSTERICAL at times! There is something fun about the comic timing for Ctown, for sure.

I've watched Parks & Rec a few times because I love Amy Poehler, but I'm not devoted to the show.

Another fun ep of Cougar Town! I loved Bobby rocking the half-shirt.

The SLOW RIDE jam at the end was fun... and Travis should never ever throw ANYthing.

I may not go on and on about COUGAR TOWN like I do COMMUNITY, but rest assured I enjoy it just as much. A more likeable cast can't be found on TV!

Last night's "chalk children" was especially hilarious!

I watched last night. They teased Travis and Busy Phillips character, and Ted from Scrubs showed up. Pretty good show. Not earth shattering, but it fit the tone of the show overall. Plus, occasionally, good looking gals in skimpy clothing walked by on camera occasionally. That never hurts.

Posted by MLLASH on :

I was kinda worried it was going to end on a great big downer, but it didn't.

And yeah, they didn't even try to disguise that he was indeed Ted from Scrubs. Same name and everything, hated to hear about the Gooch running off with Hooch...

Looking forward to more wine-saturated fun next season, and getting season 2 on DVD.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

You could cal this the Mat Pack show. It may be the only one i know of on regular tv where people actually drink like real rummies, and not just the beer swillers.

Plus, its got that sweet but nasty tone that scrubs had a lot.

Thank you, thank you! It's great to be here.

I really do enjoy the cast. They've got good dynamics with each other and I wouldn't be surprised if that was owed to off-stage chemistry as well.

I have a thing for Ellie. I can't lie.

Posted by Dr. Gwen Roil: Girl Psychiatrist on :

Ellie's awesome! She was also awesome as Jordan when SCRUBS was on... if you ever watched Scrubs, you will see some of that gang back periodically on CT!

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Why the long wait for Cougartown? Is it the divorce thing with Cox and Arquette?

Posted by Dr. Gwen Roil: Girl Psychiatrist on :

Rick that could be part of it but I think those 2 still get along (Courtney was there for him with their daughter live last Monday on the premiere of Dancing With the Stars).

Another part of it may be deciding wether or not to re-name the show and use some aggressive marketing to improve ratings, which have been less than what this show deserves.

One GOOD thing about being moved to mid-season replacement status this year (along with 30 ROCK on NBC)-- this says to me, the ABC suits *know* COUGAR TOWN has a solid and faithful audience that will be sure to tune in when they start it to replace a fall-season show that was underperforming.

Still, I'd rather it be on NOW [Smile]

Posted by Future on :

I think Lash has it on the money. It's probably a mix of giving the show time to rename/rebrand but, mainly, come in as a mid-season replacement to ensure it gets proper attention and air to breathe once the cutthroat first months are over.

Looking forward to starting season 2 still. I hear there's some Jennifer Aniston in my future.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I thought Cougartowns ratings were great?

Are they seriously gonna rename it?

Posted by Dr. Gwen Roil: Girl Psychiatrist on :

NOT great, but instead dependable. The head producer guy or whatever he is is concerned that if rating don't get better, there won't be a season 4, and he has gone on record as saying he thinks the title of the show is hurting it.

So yeah, a name-change/re-branding is definitely possible. I was serious when I said before that the top 3 titles being considered were Cul-de-Sac Crew, Pounding Grape and Sunshine State.

The purpose would be to take the focus off older ladies/younger men (which hasn't even been the focus since midway through season 1, even Barb's been with older men lately) and turn the spotlight on the awesome ensemble cast.

But they may not rename. Who knows? It's Hollyweird...

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Hunh. Ah well, trust hollywood to eff up a wet dream.

Posted by LASHbrain on :

Uggh. Just read on EW.com that COUGAR TOWN's season order has been cut from 22 episodes to 15, and still no word on when it will hit the air again since shows like HAPPY ENDINGS and SUBURGATORY (I like this one) have been successful.

Between this and COMMUNITY's upcoming hiatus, things are looking poorly for me sitcomswise.
