I don't know if anyone has seen this but SciFi has a new show coming up called Warehouse 13. Seems like a retrieval and containment show about artifacts that may or may not have some unexplained power.

Looks interesting. Hey, its got CCH Pounder in it, it can't be a dog.

Looks like it could be a fun compliment to Eureka!

The first ep is pleasant enough - it's a little too light and exposition heavy for my tastes (and I don't quite have the time for a new show right now) but I really like the actor who plays the guy in charge of the Warehouse and the leads are attractive enough if not somewhat bland. (but it was just the first ep after all) CCH Pounder is of course great - she only has a few scenes but is more than adequately mysterious to hint that there's more going on than we're aware.

Drake, the first ep is already out? I'll have to catch it on the web. Its the only place I can get scifi anyway.

I don't know if it's out. I have a dvd of the pilot (sans special effects) only because I worked on some network promos.

Gotcha. nice. [Wink]

Hasn't shown up on the web yet, but as soon as it does I'll be checking it out.

I saw the pilot a few days ago, it was alright although it reminded me of the mini-series "The Lost Room" a few years back. Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about that.

It's a little like 'The Librarian' movies with Noah Wylie and a little like 'Sanctuary', only with objects instead of creatures.
And a little like 'Fringe' with the excentric super brainy old guy and the strange stuff.
A little like the Arc scene in the first Indiana Jones movie where the boxed Arc is put on a shelf in a huge Washington DC warehouse, too.
And . . . [Smile]

I love artifact stories and this one had some nice moments.
I especially liked the long pass football and ferrets as the booby prize for ungrantable wishes.

For a Federal agency with untold power potential, cosmic level power potential, everything seemed very ungovernment paranoidish ~ lax and unguarded, though.

The young male agent is intuitive and 'gungho'.
The young female agent is analytical and skeptical.
All they need is lots of blue lighting and the show'll be a little like 'X-Files'.
[LOL]

I got a chance to watch it the other night and really enjoyed it. It's pretty much "X-Files" meets "Friday the 13th: The Series." And since I enjoyed both those shows, that makes for a good mash-up here.

The leads are very easy on the eyes, and Saul Rubinek is great as Artie, the wacky guy in charge of the Warehouse. CCH Pounder as his boss is awesome.

All in all, it's a fairly light show but quite enjoyable.

I've never watched any of the shows that this is apparently like (with the exception of the The Librarian movies which I was reminded of somewhat), but I really enjoyed the first episode. I think the two young characters have some interesting vices haunting them and the older dude is effin' hilarious. I like him. [Big Grin]

I'm definitely excited for this series and plan to watch more of it. I think their various cases will get more interesting as time goes on, too, which I'm looking forward to.

"X-Files" may have pioneered this dynamic, but I've been seeing it a bunch lately as the light dramatic show version of the "fat guy with hot wife" motif prevalent in sitcoms.

Seeing the pilot, their dynamic reminded me of "Bones" or "Castle" and to a degree "Life". It's certainly a far cry from the days of "Hunter."

I liked it. I am so very tired of the standard cop show and sitcom. Its great to know that there are some shows out there that combine intelligence and imagination.

The show seemed like a good mesh of several different shows, with very good casting. Saul Rubinek is great, never seen him do a bad job on a movie or tv show. I think the young lead guy actually did an ep or two of bones, if i remember correctly. Don't know that I've seen the young lady before, but then, I found the inkeeper to be a lot hotter. Course, I've always had a thing for ladies in summer dresses. They tend to amplify the femininity(sp?) of women. And they look good too, lol.

Funny thing is, I get the feeling we are going to get a lot of history out of this show tangentially. I mean, c'mon, outside of history class, who has really thought of Lucrieca Borgia before? Who remembers that her family were power brokers in old Italy, that her dad was a pope, if i remember correctly?

And on the website you get some very interesting artifacts, like John Wilkes Booth's boot.

I'm just waiting for the Unholy Grail to turn up. (I must confess, that is lifted from a Simon R. Green book, but I had wondered if the Judas cup was the antithesis of the Grail before. Just had never named it, lol.)

CCH Pounder...would still be fantastic as Amanda Waller in a Suicide Squad movie I think. And of course she does a very good job here.

The warehouse itself, i think, is going to possibly take on a characteristic all its own over the course of this series, if we are lucky. I loved it when he shouted "Don't make me come down there!" I'm already starting to sound like that with my son, lol.

Fun stuff, solid opening. Looking forward to more.

Yes, the dynamic of 'Bones' is a thing of beauty.
sigh
I can only hope that this show developes that great of a relationship.

I love the history angle, too.
That's part of why I enjoy artifact stories so much.
And I enjoy the Borgia era so much, what with Leonardo and Michaelangelo and everything.

Justice Society just had a 2 parter touching the Nazis and Japanese using the grail and spear artifacts to make shields to keep superpowers from working during World War II.

AND the latest Librarian movie used the Judas Cup in it's vampire based plot.

It's a small world.

Cant wait for the return of the missing agent who actually turned rogue and has his own warehouse and agency.
Just a theory

Caught the pilot of this last night and was actually really impressed! I usually don't give sci-fi channel shows (or I guess syfy now) much of a chance because the quality just isn't there, but this is different. It was actually a really entertaining and fun show to watch.

All the actors are great, and I echo what others say about CCH Pounder--I love, love, loved her in The Shield. In fact, all of the four main actors here did a great job.

I'm surprised at how much I liked it and will probably try to catch the show again when I can.

Great premise and a lot of fun.

Just watched the second episode online and it was pretty good. it fooled me, I thought for sure it would be a siren's call instead of what it was. Still, we are getting some fun little interactions between the characters and Saul Rubinek's Artie is not the stereotypical little scaredy cat it would be so easy to make him. He's a very quiet little man of action, but by no means perfect. A very well rounded character.

I admit to not expecting to see the land lady in the actual warehouse, but thats the fun of shows like this and Eureka!, they don't necessarily follow predestined rules.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

And the third episode is up. I'm liking the show more and more. The female lead isn't the stereotypical uptight chick. Yeah, she's uptight, but they actually show the character laughing and pulling a prank in this episode. And when so many "chick" characters are treated this way, they usually never get fully fleshed out into "women" instead of parodies of women.

As to the warehouse buzz, I think its going to come down to the missing agent that Artie said he hoped to find in the first episode. Don't know why, I just have that feeling. Shows like this that usually have a small release run on cable tend to not waste a lot with their episodes. The missing agent could be a set up for something else, or it could just have been a cool moment and there are absolutely no plans to use it, but I think its going somewhere.

That would make sense, for a missing agent to be trying to 'find his way back' (a la Dr Manhatten), although the previews suggest otherwise.

I haven't seen any previews. Where did you catch them?

simply love this show! I think that Eddie McClintock is HOT! saw his nice chest....woof. heh. wants to see his butt someday. [Big Grin]

End of the ep they showed some scenes from next week,

Click Here For A Spoilerincluding one of some short-haired young woman inside the Warehouse saying 'Knock Knock' to Artie, suggesting that she's the one who has been hacking the place.

hey Set -
funny thing is --- I was expecting Artie to answer with "Who's There" after he read "Knock knock". heh.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I do know that a short haired young lady is joining the cast. Don't know what her role will be, but shes done some interview stuff and some behind the scenes stuff on the Warehouse 13 site at SyFy.

Annnnnnnd now we know. Just watched the Claudia episode online. gotta say that while I am enjoying the show very much, this ep dragged a little. don't see what a twenty year old girl will bring to the show on a regular basis, but okay, I'm happy enough to see.

Though this episode was a little flat to me, it was still much better than a lot of other stuff on tv, so I will take it gladly.

Posted by superboymddjr on :

whoo hooooo!!!! last night, the new guy came out to Claudia and saying that he's GAY! that was funny but really awkward for both of them, esp Claudia ("i never have a gay friend")

am glad that Myka s back!

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

My wife asked if that was the guy that played Iceman in the X-men movies. I thought it was but wasn't sure.

Think its a good addition to the cast though. But that power of his.... gotta be a bummer even if it does tell him who true friends are. We need our little lies in life to smooth things over. Even the ones we tell ourselves.

Posted by Suddenly Seymour on :

It's not the guy who played Iceman. It's his twin brother, who played Jimmy Olsen on "Smallville."

Seriously.

I've enjoyed this series from the start, and I just got to watch last night's episode after a Tivo snafu. The show just has oodles of chemistry between its players, and Jinksy is fitting in OK. I just hope he doesn't crowd out Leena. She needs to do more.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

wow. Hollywood seems to be getting a lot more twins outside the child range lately. Good for him. Seems like a more adult, beefy role that might have been on the smallville show. I really couldn't say though, since I didn't watch smallville.

Posted by Set on :

I kinda hated what's-his-names 'not really Jimmy Olsen' on Smallville, only because nobody is good enough to be dating my Chloe. (He also got to play the real Jimmy Olsen, for, like, two seconds, in the final episode, as the character he'd played previously was supposed to be Jimmy Olsens brother...)

But this character on Warehouse 13 is pretty cool, and I think he's adding a neat dynamic to the caste. Him and Claudia need to go on more missions together. They have a good vibe, and the gay thing promises that it won't turn into the sexual tension game that's already being played up with Pete and Myka. Someone new on the team fairly regularly seems to be important to the formula, since the regulars seem to far too quickly get jaded to the wierdness of the situation, IMO.

I was giving up on the show, as Pete was acting too ridiculously over-the-top in most episodes, and I was beginning to lose interest. More characters that aren't Pete to focus on can only be a plus, for me. [Smile]

I haven't heard a THING about this new show! I must be slowing down in my old age! [LOL]
I will see if I can catch an episode or two on Youtube, then go out and buy a season hopefully.
It sounds really awesome though.

Its a lot of fun. Something different and unusual each show, and like Eureka, usually not what you expect at first.

Just saw a commercial on TV and Season One premieres next Tuesday night up here, on prime-time television! [Big Grin]

This one is sure to catch on fast!!!

AND you won't have to wait long for season 2!

Posted by superboymddjr on :

[LOL] [LOL] [LOL] love it love it love it!!!!!!! at the end of tonight's episode....good one by the way....Kate Mulgrew guest-starred...and at the end....Myka went on to introduce Pete to Kate....only to find out that Kate's his MOM!!!!! whoa....can't wait in two weeks to see the spotlight on Agent Lattimer!!! whoo hoo love him.

Sad note: Agent Jinky is fired! [Frown] poor claudia...she's mighty pissed off.

Posted by Iam Legion on :

I think the firing of Jinks is a set-up. The bad guys will approach him, he will join up with them and it will turn out that he and Mrs. Fredrich cooked the whole thing up ahead of time to infiltrate the other organization.

Well, I've only seen one ep of the new season, been busy and watching the olympics. But I'm gonna try and catch up this weekend, if I have any time.
