I went to see this today. I did go to just the regular showing amd not the 3D or IMAx versions. It is a good film. Not great, but good. A friend said that it has the misfortune of coming out between Avengers and Dark Knight Rising.
Martin Sheen did a good job as Uncle Ben. Sally Fields was just wrong as Aunt May. Not so much bad acting, but you see her and think "Hey, It's Sally Fields".
As it stands now, I can't think of any plot holes. They have gone back to the mechanical web shooters. Although it is unclear if Peter invents the web fluid or Oscorp does.
It is worth going to see.

Liked that Spider-Man was talking and babnbling when he fought.
Liked that Peter invented the web shooters, if not having invented the webbing itself. He at least seemed to be able to reproduce the formula.
I liked Ben and May. I thought they handled what they were given to do.
It was a solid story that did not seem to trip over itself.
Kinda wish they had been able to forgo the full origin again, but it worked well in the grand scheme of the movie...and apparently will continue into the next two (I'm guessing a trilogy here.)
I do think that they are going towards the Ultimate universe version of the Goblin here.

I liked it a lot, too. I didn't mind that they redid the origin because they put enough twists from what's been done before. This was especially true because this new trilogy is apparently all about the mystery of Pete's parents, a part of Spidey's past that has never been explored in much depth in the 616 version (though moreso in the Ultimate uni).
I do, however, think some reviewers are going to far out of their way to diss the Raimi/Maguire films as pailing in comparison. Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spidey movie, IMO. I'll admit that "Amazing" is probably still probably better that the first film and loads better than the third. Tobey and Andrew both embody our Pete pretty well in their own ways.
Definitely looking forward to the sequels and hope they do a better job with Osborne/Green Goblin than what they came up with in the original film.

Agree on the Second Spidey film still being the best as well.
I will say that while I liked Toby as Pete/Spidey, I really like Andrew as him a lot more. Not dissin on Toby, but that's how I feel.
I wonder who the villain will be for the second one. I think that the Rhino would fit the animal motif, or maybe even the Scorpion. Both would be cool as well.
One thing that I do find odd about Amazing though is... Click Here For A Spoilerthat they showed nothing of the police that got sprayed except that they changed, and then changed back. Also did not get how they still had their full riot gear on when they changed back, when Conners lost his clothes every time he changed.
One other thing I really liked, was the Lizard attacking the school looking for him and him having to change and battle him. Totally reminded me of the old comics. Also thought Stans cameo was one of the funniest ones he has done to date.

Awwwww, you didn't like the movie nearly as much as me! But that's okay. I haaaated the Toby ones.
