Reputation around these parts as being a nice, humble guy. Seemed also generous with his time and money.
He was a real icon to me.

500 years from now (assuming civilization survives), those future people who are not historians will only remember Richard Nixon because he was President of the USA when Apollo 11 landed, much as non-historians today only remember King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain for sponsoring the voyages of Columbus.
Armstrong could have cashed in on his fame, in terms of money and/or a political career. I find it classy that he chose not to do that. May he rest in peace.
