So what's the scoop, this year?

On Saturday my brother and his roomate threw a Halloween bash. I planned on going, then thought I wouldn't make it, then was able to at the last minute, so I pulled together a 'Johnny Cash, Man in Black' costume. It was pretty cool, though I can't honestly say I put a lot of effort into it. I got cool sunglasses though for it.

My brother was a Roman Gladiator. There were some cool costumes there, many highly innappropriate (and thus, my favorites).
Um, Cobie... it's still 2007...

Anyway, on Friday I was "Garrison Hearst" (the 49er) or possibly his groupie depending on how picky you are. You can kinda see it in my picture with Captain America. That costume was all stuff I'd already owned and just kinda for fun. (Halloween here is sort of legendary and people really go all out but I didn't want to freeze.)

Then, on Saturday, I dressed up as Aphrodite. (That's what the box said, anyway.) That costume was much more elaborate with glitter and hair thingies and gold shoes... it was so fun, though. Well, walking in those heels was less fun but still. I had a blast!

I'm planning on pulling out the football one again for tomorrow. It's just more comfortable, y'know? Depending on how my feet feel I may or may not wear the stiletto boots. We'll see.

There's only us. There's only this. Forget regret or life is yours to miss.

Dammit Cobie, that was a brand new wide screen moniter your singing just shattered! wink

You are in jail with Life?
I'd like to be out living up All Hallow's Eve but I got called into work last minute. So I'll be selling scares tonight.

No matter what you do, have fun and stay safe people!
No party for us. Have to stay home for the trick or treaters. And I didn't feel like a costume this year. Still sitting on the porch, been 3 + hours so far and only 75 visitors. About half our norm. What's weird is that this is the first year ever since I've been living in Utah that there wasn't snow on Halloween night. Was in the 60's today but only about 35 now. Still clear though.

Now for the comic book update. Had 75 this year to give out compared to 100 last year. Little Archie, Marvel Adventures Iron Man and Uncle Scrooge. Kid's choice. Scrooge and Iron Man were tied up until the end but Scrooge won. 2 Iron Man left and 9 Archies. Probably give it another 30 minutes then call it a night.

[edit note] Finished the night with 83 trick or treaters. No Iron Man comics left and only 4 Archies. So 71 books for 83 treaters, not too bad an average. The majority were excited for the books. Those parents who came with their children were just as excited to see the kids getting something else besides candy and a couple of the dads even steered their boys towards the Iron Man book.
Scooter, you rawk.

At my new place, which is a condominium complex, we had exactly zero trick or treaters. Lady Cobalt even went out and got candy just in case. When we eventually get a house and actually get kids coming, I'm totally stealing your idea and handing out comic books!

"But Dad, I want to see what groovy new outfit Little Veronica is wearing!!!"

"Now Son, we've talked about this."

In all the years I have lived where I do (3rd floor walk up) I have not had one trick-or-treater. No rung doorbell either.

That is neat.

A girlfriend of mine many years ago grew up around the corner from Richard and Wendy Pini; they apparently used to (and maybe still do) give out copies of Elfquest at Halloween.

I was going to see if I could buy some leftover Free Comic Book Day stock, but my shop owner was giving away packets of mini comics, sounds like the same ones. I was really excited, and some of the kids seemed so, too.

Of course, we only had about 15 kids, but that's more than twice what we had last year, so I was happy-ish. As usual, I put on my Scooby-Doo costume, which the little ones really like. And we put our human-sized Jack Skellington at the door to greet trick-or-treaters first.

Our block just sucks, though. I used to think it was the whole neighborhood, but I got home late a couple years ago and saw tons of kids on the block north of us and the street west of us. But when a block only has five porchlights on, and the one south of us doesn't even have that, kids understandably skip it -- very disappointing. When we move next, I'll definitely be asking about Halloween action.
We had exactly four trick-or-treaters and they all came together around my apartment complex. I didn't have anything but, lucky for the kids, my roommate did. Other than that, early night for me following my midterm. smile

And you know the fathers had to confiscate the comic books... I mean you never know what kind of dangers could be hidden in them. wink
Halloween 2008 is nigh! Who's doing what and wearing whom?!

My friends and I are going to the Rotten Tomatoes Party as obscurish X-Men (Banshee, Havok, Longshot, and Bishop). We might have a Dazzler but I think she's on the fence right now...
Well I was going to go as Two-Face but as that turned out to be not so cost-effective I bought a New Goblin costume on sale (which should be here by Monday). I'll be wearing it at work unless I find something cooler within the next few days.
Mom always threatened "I'll put some jelly in my bellybutton and go as a cookie!"
i'm going as a generic goth girl because i saw a really cute dress at the gothy store =3=
