Do we even need one of those stories for a while? I know I've read the story a couple of times in various comics and even if I hadn't the backissues aren't all that expensive. It would be simple enough to get a copy of one of the nine hundred and seventy nine versions of the LSH Origin if you really *have to have* that story.

I'm not a new reader though and I've wondered if it's really that important to all the new guys that we get the crisis of Day-One in the reimagined timeline right away. Or are the new guys content to enjoy the stories of an already established crew of sluggers and let the details of Day-One sit for a while?

On the other hand...

What do we know about our guys so far? We got a really strange tale about Triplicate Girl and we know Dream Girl trained with the Naltorian Precops. Karate Kid is famous (or infamous) among martial artists (according to the Naltorian cop)and MIcrolad/Colossal Boy is a giant alien who can shrink. Lyle/Invisible Kid is an Earth kid runaway.

...and without dragging the comics out and rereading them that's all I can think of. What have I missed?

heh - It seems I'm happy enough to go along with a program that's up and running but I want to know he dirty details about the characters asap - go figure

The actual origin story isn't that important to me, certainly not at this point. If they want to do a secret files type issue with it, that would be okay. I would really like to see something other than "3 kids save billionaire" - but their funding has to come from somewhere... maybe one of the early group is very very rich? They seem to have been together for several years (2 years?), so there's a lot to backfill.

It's a good story telling technique to reveal information about the characters gradually, either in snippets (as we've had for most of the characters so far) or more detail (as for Lyle and Lu). Old-time fans have the added interest of wondering/learning how much the new versions differ from the old characters, how much history will repeat itself, and with what twists. Keeps the interest level very high for me. It's all unfolding.

Yeah, count me in the "who cares?" camp for now. The original Legion origin wasn't writeen down until 1967 or 1968, in story by Nelson Bridwell. What I DO hope is that, as the origin is revealed, it ties in some way to the big plot(s) that Waid and Kitson are unfolding.

To paraphrase the Secret Origin of Ambush Bug:

They thought 'em up!
