Also in the July soliciations was another Legion tidbit that may have been overlooked.

In the final issue of JLA: The Nail, the Legion is scheduled to make an appearance. And at least 3 of them appear on the cover.

To see the cover and the synopsis, visit the Official DC Comics site . Or visit my site, linked in my signature.
And I thought I was excited with last month's solicit featuring Black Orchid in her good ol' 70's (60's?) costume!

I can't *wait* for this miniseries! I really enjoyed the first one... and this series sounds even better.

Wonder Woman and the Legion of Super Heroes... cool!

TN
Ahhh... the Legion drawn by Davis & Farmer again.

Could life be much more perfect?
Is it just the 3rd issue that the Legion appears in or are they likly to get small cameo's in the first two as well?
Judging from Ultra Boy's costume, it looks to me like we might be seeing the return of "Superboy's Legion." Or maybe Davis & Farmer just like those costumes, since "The Nail" and "Superboy's Legion" are from seperate timelines. Or maybe those temporal whatevers are really messing things up.
Who is the 3rd Legionniare? I see Ultra Boy, & Chameleon Boy... but missed the 3rd one...
I see Tinya just over J'onn's brow. Dark hair, white costume, and a touchstone around her neck... it's gotta be Tinya.

Seems like the trio that hung together in Superboy's Legion is still hanging around together in The 2nd Nail.

Gotta admit... The original "The Nail" and "Superboy's Legion" are two of my all-time favorite comics. With The Legion appearing in The 2nd Nail, I will now be buying this series when it first comes out, instead of waiting for it to be collected into a TPB.
Looks yummy! I love Elseworlds.

There is no mention of the Legion in the solicitations for the first two issues. Doesn't mean they won't appear. If they do, I would guess it would be near the end of the second issue.

With the red earrings and blue sleeves, I was thinking Zatanna in her cape days, but I don't have "Superboy's Legion" handy to see how they colored Tinya.

I agree, though, that "Superboy's Legion" was awesome, and it'll be great if he's revisiting the characters. Maybe they'll get a second mini next. (Need a fingers-crossed smiley)
I did a little digging and come up with this...

...for a Superboy's Legion Tinya comparison. If I had to bet, I would bet that that was Tinya on the cover of Another Nail (above J'onn's brow). I'm not familiar enough with the incarnations of Zatanna to say that that is not her without any doubts though.

Looking at them together like this, you may be right about the Zatanna thing. I'd give it a 50/50 chance.
Hmm. Has Zatanna ever wore a white cape though? I thought her's was blue. I'm with the surfer in that I don't know enough of her history to be able to spot her unless I could see the fishnets. And looking at the picture up close in PaintShop I can see the blue sleeves better (which I had totally missed before) as well as the red earring.

Guess I just saw the long dark hair, white cape and red gem and immediately thought of Tinya.

Got this picture of the Perez-era Zatanna bust from DC Direct off google:

Didn anyone buy the first issue? It's already got a Legion reference -- Validus as a member of the Green Lantern Corps!
Did it come out this week? I haven't picked up my books yet.
Yes
Another stop to add to my list for when I get out of work later today. Pulling a 16 hour shift so I can only hope I'm coherent enough when I get out of here to remember to pick up my books.

Hey, I missed that! What page?
19.
Wasn't Validus shown as a Green Lantern in another context?

Is this getting to be a running gag or something?
And really, when one thinks about it, how much will power can a rampaging giant with the mind of an infant have.....?

If one thinks of will power as being stubborn... Then I can see Validus having tremendous will power. Let me tell you a story...

When I was in my early twenties I was watching my three year old nephew. I had to feed him dinner, and part of dinner was french fries. I fed the kid a fry and told him to chew and swallow it. This really became a battle of wills, for he refused to swallow. I told him he wasn't leaving the table until he ate his food. My nephew is now 15 years old and he is still sitting at the table with that fry in his mouth.

Actually, he had that fry in his mouth for a half hour and never did swallow it. I let him up, I'm not entirely heartless, but the point is you'd be surprised at how much will power the simple mind actually has (if you define will power as stubborn).

Validus as Green Lantern doesn't work for me on a different level though. Validus doesn't have the imagination to wield the emerald energy. His answer to everything would be green lightning from his ring instead of mental lightning from his brain. Or maybe in a twist, he'd do both at the same time.
Simpler minds have more will-power simply because they don't have the reflective capacity to introduce doubts as to what they are doing. With the ability to consider alternative options comes the risk of indecisiveness.
I'd agree with that. Validus is pure Id--if he really wants to do something, he's not going to be dissuaded by much of anything. (Although we did see Saturn Girl set him back that one time, by presenting him with someone even bigger than him.)

On the other hand, how do we know Validus has a simple mind? Maybe he's just emotionally unstable, poorly coordinated and shouts a lot. Maybe he's complex and thoughtful and just waiting for a power ring to give him a controllable means of expression, you know?

Just like the Super Moby Dick...of Space.
Aside from the fact that it's an Elseworlds, it's also the 21st century, not the 31st -- maybe in this reality, Validus started out intelligent and imaginative etc... but by the 31st century became a rampaging, ex-GL id-creature ...
Makes sense. Damn near every other GL--or being remotely associated with them--goes insane eventually. Why not Validus?

He was in the first one too - check The Nail 2, page 6.
Page 20, panel 1- The female Green Lantern behind Barda's right hand is the spitting image of Eyeful Ethel!!!
You think I'm kidding? Go & look, right now!
I'll wait...

Isn't that Jarth in the upper left corner?

Ooops, my bad. That's Deadman.
So, what did you guys think of Jo and Projectra's marriage and/or the fact that he married and had kids with Tinya (whose fate is unknown)?

Plus a cameo by Superboy's Legion! smile
I thought it was completely unexpected... never would've put those two together. It does make me curious about how they got together...

...I was pretty underwhelmed by this concluding volume, ratcheting down my impressiong of ANOTHER NAIL. This was a year's worth of story thrown together. I liked that the plot zipped along, but the 'guest' appearances got to be a bit much, for me.

There *were* some good ideas, though-- lots of them. I just wish we'd actually got to see WONDER WOMAN AND THE LEGION OF SUPERHEROES as the solicits tantalized.

Hmmm- fanfic?

Todd
What was really cool about seeing the Superboy's Legion in the 2-page-Crisis-type spread was that Flash was with them, which may be the adventure the adult Ultra mentioned to Aquaman and Wonder Woman. He said he had met the Scarlet Speedster in his youth.

Oh y'know, Tinya had probably died again and Jo was in such grief that Projectra had to create an illusion of her to keep him stable, but she eventually developed feelings for him, yada yada...

Regarding the book, there wasn't really much Legion here, for those who haven't read it. They were kinda tossed in there with the kitchen sink (literally - check out that kitchen sink in the big splash page!)

And to agree with Eryk I've seen plenty of close minded people with tremendous will power. Give them a cause and they will follow with zeal. smile

To me it seems that the seeds were planted by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer for a sequal to Superboy's Legion. Maybe some time travel, alternate timeline kinda of stuff.
I believe that a sequel to SUPERBOY'S LEGION has already been confirmed by TPTB at DC, and is currently in the works.

Based on ANOTHER NAIL #3, I should expect Flash to figure into that story.

As to the Ultra/Projectra relationship, it actually makes sence to me. Given that Apparition is royalty in this timeline, it follows that her consort would have a great deal of exposure to other royal famalies, such as Projectra. And given her relationship with Karate Kid, Projectra has already displayed a propensity for hooking up with worthy commoners.

I think Davis is Marvel-exclusive now (and, even if he isn't, he has his hands full with Unanny X-Men).
While the Legion didn't have a big role in the last issue, it was a nice homage to the Legion that the climax was very reminiscent of the Sun-Eater story.
