A version of the Emerald Empress will be one of the villains in the "Justice League Vs. Suicide Squad" DC Event next month (December). See the artwork here:

Wow.

And that's a pretty interesting group of villains she's with.
Awesome. Now I have to have her finished by Jason.
It's Sayra. Crap.
It's a time displaced Sarya, who came from the 31st Century hunting someone (Saturn Girl?).

Here bio's in the picture:

Intriguing...

I hope they put in some bits where the Empress compares her current group with the rest of the Fatal Five.
I wonder if Lobo will mention how he was in L.E.G.I.O.N. with someone else who wielded the Eye...?
A lot of those villains have worked very well in stories of their own. I can only hope lumping them together doesn't detract from that.
From the DC Website promoting the 1st issue (mine were delayed a day at my store):

Quote
Emerald Empress

The “Empress” in Emerald Empress’s name isn’t just for dramatic flair. With the power granted to her via a symbiotic relationship with the Emerald Eye of Ekron, Sarya brutally took over her home planet of Venegar and instated herself as the undisputed leader—the Empress of the entire planet’s population. Of course, a complete planetary coup also secured her spot as one of the most feared villains of the 31st Century, occasional leader of the Fatal Five and mortal enemy of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Not much is known about the Eye itself, other than the power it grants those who bond with it. However, signs seem to indicate that it’s some sort of parasite; that it may actually be the puppeteer rather than the puppet. Sarya’s first defeat was actually a surrender. She had to beg Sensor Girl of the Legion to separate her from the Eye, which would not allow her to die.

And speaking of the Legion: their presence has been peppered throughout the DC Universe post-Rebirth, with Saturn Girl’s appearance in both DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH #1 and BATMAN #9, but no one knows why (or how) she’s arrived in the present. Is it possible that Sarya’s arrival to our time has something to do with her?

Just to recap all of the Empress specific stuff:

Week 1: Max Lord takes advantage of Waller and the Squad's distraction to break the other Villains out. We don't see them on panel but we do see the destructive energy of the eye blowing out a wall of the prison as they make their escape.

Week 2: The villains get a few pages where Lord offers to help them with their individual goals if they help him get Waller. The Empress notes she needs to find the Legionnaire and get out of here because the Eye can sense something's wrong with time (the missing years from Rebirth #1).
So from Week 3-4 and the last Issue of Suicide Squad:

The Empress is specifically hunting for Saturn Girl by name. She's been here for YEARS now, having been captured early on and made to serve in a prototype version of the Suicide Squad. After she and the others proved too dangerous, Waller had her buried and locked away in the intervening years.

The Eye runs on the same tech as the Green Lantern Rings, with each freaking out when they encounter each other. Simon Baz nearly destroys the Eye with his ring, so Sarya beats a hasty retreat (presumably the last we'll see of her in this crossover).

She also taunts Superman telling him the future isn't so rosy for him.

Finally the editor's note says the the Empress/Saturn Girl story will play out in .... Supergirl!

So now I had to read it immediately. Dave! It jumped to the top of my read pile (although since it's digital, I guess it's a read file)

Man, these teases are getting too much for me! Also, the fact that I now have to get someone to fill me in on Supergirl D:

It's still a bit weird to me that the Legion has been being teased so much when, if I'm remembering it right, the JSA has actually been said to be returning first. And yet all we get on THAT end is the Johnny Thunder scene, Jay Garrick's helmet, and... I guess Johnny Sorrow.
