RobinIII WonderGirlII KidFlashII BeastBoyII Raven Cyborg Starfire

Would some kind sentient please give a Teen Titans rundown?

******

As for what's with all the Titans talk...see here.
I'll do my best smile :

-Cyborg has decided to train the new heroes Wonder Girl, Superboy, Robin and Impulse after Young Justice and the Titans broke up. Starfire is helping him, and Beast Boy has joined them too.

-Deathstroke shot Impulse's knee-caps, which gave Bart a reason to re-evaluate his life and stop acting like a moron. Since then he's taken on the moniker of Kid Flash and uses his photographic memory to learn as much as possible--to be useful in battle and become smarter (instead of his traditional goofy self). Someone could have explained this better I'm sure laugh . I like this development.

-Some heroes, like Wonder Woman, don't like the new kids training with the Titans, especially after what happened to Donna Troy.

-Wonder Girl has been given a lasso by Ares, God of War, which has all kinds of offensive powers. This interesting subplot is still developing.

-Deathstroke was possessed by Jericho, in a strange turn of events, as Jericho was still alive in him, despite his body being dead. Afterwards, Deathstroke was joined by his daughter Rose to hunt down Jericho. Rose recently has plucked out her own eye to be more like her father and has taken the code-name 'Ravager' after her dead eldest brother.

-Jericho returned again, and somehow became downloaded into Cyborg, and then sent to Raven's dimension. I'll definately need someone else to explain this.

-Raven has returned once again. The diety worshipped by the Cult of Blood has been Trigon all along, and they summoned her back. There is a new Brother Blood also.

-Recently, Robin has quit being Robin in his own book, and Superboy is having trouble dealing with this. He continues to visit Gotham to get him to rejoin.

-Wonder Girl and Superboy are dating. Kid Flash may have a thing for Wonder Girl.

I hope this helps Teeds, but it doesn't really do the book any justice. It is a *very* good comic book IMO, with great art, good dialogue and likeable characters. The pacing and the level of fun is exactly as the Titans should be too.

Maybe someone more eloquent can tell you more.
You did great Cobie. The only thing you left out was Gar currently has lost his powers only to have a school full of children develop them. And they are supposed to explain how Gar got his powers now that Byrne has f'd up the Doom Patrol.

And they apparently summoned up up some new flying abilities, cuz she was flying in the last issue. Or maybe she's just over-compensating for her whole lack of hair thing...
Raven is one of my all-time fave Titans, and I'm happy to see her back (and I think she's pretty well written too right now). But the baldness must go tongue !

I didn't think his powers were directly related to the DP. Didn't he get a transfusion from a mongoose or something like that?

Most of his history between then and his TT days hinged on the DP though, not to mention quite a few Wolfman/Perez stories.
TEEN TITANS is definitely one of my top faves right now. Can't WAIT for Johns to get around to the TITANS L.A. cast-- you KNOW it's coming, with the current team set in San Francisco!
I wonder if he'll use any of these folks?

The fact that John's embraces every aspect of continuity in all his books makes them so much more exciting when waiting to see where he goes with them.

I can't wait to see how Titans gets the same treatment that Flash and JSA have gotten!
Raven got a cool tattoo on her back and she is now physically younger too. More in line with Robin, Kid Flash and Wonder Girl. She is also rediscovering/learning to control her powers.

Jericho actually got sucked into Raven's soulself and then Cyborg actually downloaded him onto a dvd/storage device to defeat himself.

Kid Flash may have an thing for Wonder Girl but I also think he has a thing for Rose too.

I agree with Cobie about John's embracing continuity. That's why I can't wait to see the new Hawk and Dove and have no reservations about him doing GL:Rebirth.
Same here about Hawk and Dove and especially about GL!

I forgot about Kid Flash and Rose. He definately admitted that he liked her a lot (whether it's 'like-like' or just 'liking her' is left up to us). I'm sure when he sees what she did to her eye, it'll be a great scene.

Really? How come Bart bore no relation @ the start of TTs to the guy who, at the end of YJ, had realised he didn't care whether he lived or died after what he went through in OWAW, and that that knowledge scared him?

Plus the name "Kid Flash" would be tatamount to child abuse if you gave it to a real-life kid...
If that chip was still in your head, you'd never be saying that tongue
I think that since Bart lived throught the war without getting hurt in anyway made him to think what said. But then Bart is still growing up and what Deathstroke do to him wiht his injury really shook Bart up.

Plus, Bart isn't super smart, he is book smart and there is a difference there.

is doing the new "H&D" then ??? and are they gonna appear in "TT" first ???

Matthew.
What issue number is the series up to? Are the back issues hard to find? Naturally, I'll check this out when I get to the comic shop again, but any more info would be great.
I know it's up to issue 12, maybe 13... I'll have to check.

And the first issues have already been given the TPB treatment.
Ok, so this thread didn't ask what we THINK about the new Titans book, just what happened. But for what it's worth, here's my two cents:

Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but TT is the one Johns book I just don't enjoy. I find myself buying it every month and I don't really know why. I guess I keep expecting the quality to match the work on Flash and the recent JSA.

The first few stories were long and drawn out and didn't really have a satisfying conclusion. I really want to see more of Starfire, Cyborg, and the old Raven, but I keep getting the Young Justice kids and Raven seems to have had her personality altered in order to fit with the younger group.

The art is good, not great. The characters look like real people and aren't cartoony (about the only qualification I have about art in comics) so I have no complaints about that.

I'm not sure why I'm not clicking with this series. I'll probably drop it as soon as the Legion is gone.
You know... few things bug me more than the notion that by de-aging adult characters to teens, that makes them suddenly fit in with teens. They should still have the minds/personalities of adults, even if their bodies are youthened.

De-aging characters to toddlers, however, is of course accompanied by a vast reduction in their mental powers.

Well Dove is alive from the pages of the JSA and she left to go find the new Hawk somewhere. So H&D well be in the JSA or the Titans.

TEEN TITANS #16 is on sale Sept. 22nd. It directly leads into the TEEN TITANS/LEGION crossover special due out Sept. 29th.

TEEN TITANS #15 will be out this Thursday. It's part two to the Beast Boy saga, in which we learn his origin.
I'll betcha Johns will be saving Dove and the new Hawk for when he uses the Titans L.A. cast!

This after it was established that the Hank Hall Hawk & the Dawn Granger Dove would be the last of their respective lines, since the Lords of Chaos & Order who empowered them died & bestowed their remaining power on them...
Thanks for the responses to my questions. I'll be going to the comic shop soon and see what I can dig up...

He's using Beast Boy, so I guess that answers your question. I don't anticipate Gnarrk, Golden Eagle, or Dove since they're all dead. Harlequin was retroactively removed, Mal and Karen are retired, and Roy, Dick, and Wally are on other teams. Hawk and Troia appear to be dead, but we'll see if that sticks. Also, Garth is fairly occupied with a wife and daughter (assuming they're back together). So...we've got that one definite.

There's irony in the above, right? Johns _embraces_ continuity but sends Dawn off to find a new Hawk? If the H&D series told us anything it was that Hank and Dawn were the very last H&D because the beings who powered them were dead.
As Johns does embrace continuity, let's figure he has found a way to bring back a new Hawk. There's other ways to get powers. Maybe the new Hawk will be some joe who assists an injured alien trapped under a fallen tree, or had a scientist father that experimented on him. Or maybe those wacky Lords of Order & Chaos are back!
I'll give Johns the benefit of the doubt until I see what he has planned. After all, I think what they did with Hawkman was excellent, and probably one of the most honest attempts at pleasing all fans that I've ever seen. And recently working Daniel/Dream into JSA to connect him with both Hector and Lyta, as well as Sand and the crime-fighter Sandman legacy was a very nice touch.

I mean, he's had Cave Carson show up in a respectable way! I'm pretty sure he doesn't use characters unless he knows their histories, so he'll have something in mind for Hawk and Dove.
Didn't Dove say something about Order and Chaos just being energy? You can't destroy energy, it just takes a new or different form. There is the loophole.

The H&D series from the 90's was one of my favorites. What ever happened the the artist on the series?
Hank, Don and Dawn were chosen by a specific Lord of Chaos & Lord of Order, who were together against the wishes of their fellows. Even if the energy was still around, it wouldn't go to a new host, it would just dissipate, since the sentience that granted it is gone, whereas in JSA #51, Dawn was automatically assuming, despite what she knows, that there'd be a new Hawk.
She is a conduit of a Lord of Order. smile

Didn't that series also say that Order can not exist without Chaos and Chaos can not exist without Order?

If Dawn as Dove is still alive and kicking, somewhere there is a Hawk to be her counterpoint.
She's not a conduit any more - the Lord of Order & Lord of Chaos that empowered Dove & Hawk, respectively, died and passed their remaining power to Dawn & Hank - making it clear in the process that that meant they would absolutely, finally be the last of their lines. If Hawk's chaos-energy is out there, it's not going to go to a new host.
Actually, Bart did wind up getting hurt during OWAW. It was I believe in the Young Justice chapter, where YJ land on Apokolips. In a nutshell, Bart made a "time-speed-clone" of himself. It got "killed", and that really, truly hurt him. I don't know if that facet of his power was ever used again or explained. What was shown in that story was that he was severly traumatized by that incident.
So how long is the message board crossover going to last? It seems that we're already beginning to revert to our typical LSH related topics, fanfic and Legion lore.

-just curious-
As long as Gary says it does! laugh
lol

You know I'm going to kind of miss the nickname "Cap" it's really cool. That and it's kind of cool to see lightning and thunder every time I say Captain Yellow Kid
>crackle<
Boom

Aw crap.
It does take a little getting used to though.

I believe you forgot one of the dead, unless there's news I need to hear about my favorite Titanic magical girl...

Sighs.
Well, just finished reading #15 and....

Ares is shown telling Cassie (Wonder Girl) that she "and her friend" will be crucial in winning the upcoming titanic battle that's headed their way. A he sends Cassie back to Earth, he is seen wishing Cassie luck...

...then a picture of Troia is seen in the mirror and he say "Both of you!"

YAY!!

DONNA'S COMING BACK!!!!!
Sigh, that's the kind of thing that's gotten me burnt out on superhero comics, this kind of "You should buy this special issue/series because a major character will DIE!" marketing followed by "Because you demanded it, dead character X is back" a short time later.

Not to disparage anyone's enjoyment of that sort of story, but they've stopped exciting me.

I guess it all goes to a "comics were better when I first started reading 'em arguement".

The WaK new LSH information has kind of superseded everything else the past couple of days. Guess it shows how much we're all uncertainly chomping at the bit for the new series!

Or, alternatively, sharpening axes...
Ha ha ha

So true.
With Kitson being willing to chat with us and answer a few odd questions he's become something of a focal point for the last few days.
It's quite ok with me though, look at all the traffic LW is getting due to a legion creator being around. (I evem spotted Jim Gallagher's name in the "recent visitors" list and I haven't seen Jim in a long time)

As usual though when the comic hits the stands we'll pick every page apart and have fun doing it.
Would love to see Johns bring back some west coast Titans. To bad it can not be Hawk and Dove, I sure enjoyed seeing them on Justice League Unlimited.
Anyone care to bring us up to date with the current series...either here, or in a brand new thread?
