Since I'm the top poster, might as well use that excuse to get all personal and demanding (even needy laugh ) and find out just why you other 850 posters, alt IDs and lurkers aren't joining us at San Diego.

I figure Eryk will be on patrol that weekend defending his hometown from aliens and malcontents but I just need to be sure.
Well, if you must know...

I'm still on medical leave after my extended stay on Medicus One and Dr. Gym'll refused to release me so I could join the away team to SDCC.

I don't buy it. I'm going, and it's not like we two completely different people.
I'll be in a conference at the other end of the continent. Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Hrrmpf.
Co-workers sister is due to give birth that week and she is on call to go out and be there.

She gets to take all the good trips to visit clients and I get to stay and man the fort.

I have the money to go and the time off but being the good team player I am I say that I will skip it,and its really important for her to be there for her sister.

No I am not bitter at all about how unfair this is. (She has gone to see her sister 4 times in the last three months by the way.)
No moolah + wife won't let me = frown
I promise to pass along any kisses to Jessica Alba should I see her. She just got married and had a baby and I'm just getting married so I'll be like the Mantis of the Comic Con!
For me, it's both lack of money and fear of travel. I read and hear so many recent horror stories about travel, it makes me wonder if I'll ever travel again. I know I can be hyper-sensitive about a lot of things, but modern travel really and truly frightens me.
Had alot of expensive things come up recently
Impending marriage, leaving work soon to return to school and buying a house. I could probably finacially handle one or two of these things and still go but all these things combined mean I can't go this year.
A) Convention? What convention?

B) Two Words: Restraining Order

C) I'm not entirely convinced this isn't a practical joke.

D) Work and bills <<<
Makes me wish I was as wealthy as Bruce Wayne and had teleportation powers like Gates.

Cool! You can keep an eye on the Everyday Girl for me...

Thanks Cali!
Dang, I would LooooooooVE to go, but I don't care for flying, I doubt my Jeep would make it, and renting a car to drive from TN to CA would be SOOOO expensive. Somebody stop by and pick me up! laugh
You heard him Legion World! Someone go grab Lashie ASAP! I'll do my best to get my plane to let me jump out above TN!

Just not feasible. I am 3000 miles away and work full time, and then some. The only con I'll likely go to is this weekend at Heroes Convention in Charlotte, NC.

Scratch that whole thing. We had a company picnic today and the owner gave us gifts especially tailored for us. For me its air fare, hotel and a two day pass to this years comic-con! I am going kids and watch how quickly the money will fall out with all the junk I buy!
Holy moley! That's awesome, VU! laugh

(Say, do you work for the oil industry...? hmmm wink )

Advertising and Marketing for Casinos. We've had a good year.
At one time I'd planned, it would have been a great opportunity to meet so many.

No good excuse, too lazy to plan and don't like paying hundreds a night for a bed I'd barely sleep in. Teaching and had a house fire before Easter and have been moving from place to place, taking up to much of my atention, though the house should be repaired by mid July.

Eh, too lazy.

I do look forward to everyone that makes it having a GREAT time and posting photos.
I'll be traveling through space, fighting space dragons.

(Translation: no money.)
In all honesty, there are two real reasons why I'm able to attend:

1. Frequent flyer miles
2. Tax rebate check
at one point, even I had to consider backing out... but I've rolled a few sevens. Without tax rebates and refunds, I would still be going but subsisting on saltines and ramen noodles. so I'm in better shape than I feared a few weeks ago.
how are you going to buy me drinks when you've all been dead for over 900 years?

Long range financial planning
we all put a few pennies in the bank; by the 2950s the interest will be quite significant.
Easy, Use our time bubble
We've been planning for this big 50th anniversary of the Legion blow-out Con since the one we attended back in 2004. It's just too expensive to go every year.
True, I won't be there but I've hired a male escort from the San Diego area to portray me (for one night).

Now, I should be wearing an Elastic Lad costume with a BLUE carnation in the waistband. And I've been paid in advance so I should be pretty friendly. Let me know if I'm not.
Gee Ram Boy, He looks expensive. You probably could have just come to San Diego yourself.
RB,
...I don't suppose you're willing to sponsor us a Ram Girl too?

I think Cobie's fiance might do that.
then I hope she pursues her representative as diligently as Ram Boy has.
