Hurry up!
Hurry up already

"Good night!" or "Sweet Dreams!"

OH....MY.....GOD!!!!!!!!!!
Where do you guys get all these smiles? And did Gary and Scott make them all? I wanna play too!
When you hit "reply", if you scroll down, you'll see a link to "View & More Smilies". Click that for a list!
Since Gary advised me how to activate the animation aspect of the Graemlins I've been enjoying them in their full humor and glory! So I thought why not create a topic just for posting your favorites! [Eight is the limit per post, but I have noticied the larger graemlins lower that limit.]
Boy, it's a tough pick, but here's mine:
Wow! I got in eight even though I had Supe-Moby!
Then, Post Away!
Hell, I can't chose. Each new one is such a joy to play with.
This is my current favorite:
just some playtime...
All the Colossal ones...
:
A picture is worth a 1000 words, and more in comics!
My picks for the funniest...
CalamityKing
Bouncing Boy
Love the electrical group.
I thought I knew just about everyone in Legiondom, but these are unfamiliar to me.
Drool?
Quetzal?
C'mon, Reep. You know all the old stuff. Who are these guys?
Glad to see so many posts from you SLK! Hope the security office thread gets a visit from it's favorite prodigal son!
That's last one's pretty cool SLK!
Tell the truth, I only know two of those you mentioned from memory. Meglaro is a villain from from Adv 303. Dynamo kid was an applicant in an early issue (305?) and was a fraud, a reporter trying to get the inside scoop of the LEgion.
Somebody mentioned the chewies are creatures that attacked Lu and Andy in that one story they had together in LSH 112 I believe.
I feel I should know Typhoon but I don't. Can't recall Quetzel at all and don't know who's used for "drool." Maybe someone else can clue us in.
One I'd really like to see Gary do is a Time Bubble, with it going thru those Silver Age color rings with year-labels on them. Maybe the faces of the charter trio in the bubble. That'd be super-boss-cool!

Here's Gary's new graemlins that I can spot
The Super-Pets!
I think I know which one Ms. Cramer will be using.
Gary, whose the third character for Proty II? I recognize Bizarro Proty and the Weirdo Legionnaire, but who's the brunette guy? Anybody in particular?
Had to pick this one first
Then these two as favorite characters

Unless I'm mistaken, that's Blockade Boy II.
You missed one Reep. Here's our new *shudder* graemlin:
I wasn't sure about that one, Scott. I knew there had been a Polar Boy, but I couldn't remember if that was it.
Obviously I'm forgetting or missing something. What is Blockade Boy II's connection with Proty II? In fact when was a Blockade Boy II shown?
I like this group a lot as a "disappearing" act:

Looks like the shudder graemlin is smaller but I can see where you would have been confused.
Originally posted by Reep:

During the "Revolt of the Super-Pets" story, Proty II and Comet the Super-Horse infiltrated the Legion disguised as Blockade Boy II (supposedly the brother of the dead Super-Stalag Prisoner) and Biron the Bowman.
Who is the female at the top of the Rond Vidar one? Is it Glorith?

Er...that's an open-mouthed, full of energy Infinite Man.
I got that it was the Infinite Man. Didn't see it looking 'womanly' until I read V's post.
Thanks EDE. I haven't read that story for 20 years. Kinda hated the four issue gap in Swan's issues when I was a kid, and I haven't come across a cheap copy in recent years. I do recall their "masquerade."
Wow! These are all just totally amazing. Kudos!!

The Lallors
{FYI: I might have missed someone on the Legion list and not everybody agrees on that order of joining.)
I'm glad you're enjoying the smilies, Reep!
Yeah, I am, Gary. BTW, a little weird on the above row of sparking Garth and Mekt. When I previewed the post, both sparked almost together, but when I posted, they alternated sparking!
Um... is all this extensive use of graemlins causing any possible problems with the server or anything else?
No, I been a-studyin on 'em, and they have a teensy different duration of sparking so eventually they get outta sync and then come back into sync. Just like a Ranzz!

Eric [/b]On your monitor's display properties, what is your setting? For you to get the full range of colors the setting needs to be at its highest, usually called Highest (32 bit). If its set lower (16 bit) you get quite a bit of color variation.
Gary's latest:

Gary, have you considered a Time Bubble graemlin? Also I think from your Message Icon group, a big thumb's up (even a thumb's down I guess) would useful as a graemie.
Whoa! Had a brilliant flash! What about a "kiss-off" graemie, like your hilarious "poke." Maybe Nura? Or Ayla and Brin!

I'm set for maximum color. Maybe it's a weird Mac thing. When Colossal Boy's head shrinks back down, the outline of his big head is still there, too. Who knows?

Eric [/b]More than likely a Mac issue. I've never used a Mac before (ever) so I'm not sure if the gifs are something their monitors would be able to view unless specifically made for it.

Wayne just go
here and download them for yourself. Grey used to keep a ZIP file but I think it hasn't been updated forever.
But be warned. I tried to do the same yesterday and had some problem ones. The only one I didn't succeed in getting a working copy of (even though it works here
) was Chemical King. Don't know why and I haven't had a chance to talk to Gary about it yet.

No, they should not cause a problem. Most of them are very small in size. Plus we enforce the 8 images per post limit and that keeps them from becoming a problem.
But I can't speak for PowWeb's server. They already have a non-standard setup so who knows. Maybe they've got something against graemlins.
Belated thanks to Gary and Reep for filling me on on the unidentified Graemlins. Great job on these, Gary!! You have quite a bit of
to come up with some of these ideas.

I've slowed him down a bit. That's the Emergency Board with the planets Gallan, Earth, Krallak, Zoon, & Mars showing before he goes off to jail.
I just had a singular experience. As I pulled up this page with the above row of graemies in the top post, the doggie-barking version of Jingle Bells came on the radio, and I just had to watch these goofy graemies while that nutty song played. It was breathtakingly hilarious! Insanely insane!

It's undeniable that Nighty has done an incredibly awesome job with the Legion smileys!
These are my favorites:
just TOO cute!
ditto!
purdy colors and flying balls!
Mine is obvious, o'course ...
They're all entirely awesome, though. I've wanted to spread them, so I've been keeping that .zip-ped (plug to Pov's employer, WinZip) collection up as Nightcrawler's released them.
You can download the current version at any time
here . (Currently, it's as of 1 July, 81 files.) And you can get the current list of the files in the archive at any time
here .
I seem to be missing only four since then, going by Scott's
directory at this Website:
DuoDamsel
Gates
Kinetix
PorcupinePete
Gary (or anybody), would you take a look at the list, and am I missing any others since then? I probably am. If so, I'll add them along with these four.
Other than the ones you've mentioned that's all that I've released thus far.
Actually, that directory is from this site. It's the location we're using for the Instant Graemlins.
I still need to perfect the SmilieMod that I've got, before all of them become available.
I've got a few more that I haven't uploaded yet. Here's Shikari. I believe someone asked for her around here somewhere.
All clever - I especially like Gates, Princess Projectra and Calamity King, among those not already mentioned. Tenzil with the shades is cool too.
It would be nice to have a Brainy going insane, but I don't know how you could do it in a small icon - buggy eyes, hands on his head, head exploding?
Particular favorites include Gates, Quislet, Wildfire, and, of course, Calamity King!
Of course
is my favorite but I think they are all the best smilies ever made for any genre. Gary has continued to outdo himself and I am most thankful to have him as a partner in this site. Without him it would just not be as cool.
Thanks Gary!
Awww...shucks! T'weren't nuthin'!

Oh, nighty, hurry up....*just kidding* but I love those icons...so fantastic and I wish that DC Message Board has someone who is better in creativity...wouldn't it be neat to use Silver Swan as "screaming" or Batman's "intimidating look" etc...I wish Rob from DCMB to follow up on your examples! Nice job! I hope I can use Dreamer's "look - I am forecasting the spoiler so *wink*" to use as a spoiler. Light Lass's "light up or chill out - then giggling effect". you can try "triad to split three heads - one with halo, one with horns, and one with neutral". Just an idea.
I do not see where these pictures are coming from. I see those "instant graemlins" and some more pictures with radial buttons next to them but do not know how to use them or see the dawnstar one. Do we make them ourselves like jpegs or something?
I'm so sad because I want to play too, sniff sniff.
any update on additional graemlins?! <----wants to use Lightning Lord, Gates, etc...not available yet.
I guess I need to download the full set.
My favorites are...
Quislet...
and the Tellus one of course.

As far as being able to use the rest, right now I don't want to add any more images to the "Insant Graemlins" box, because it'll add to the load time of the reply pages. There are ways around it, but until then if you want a Legionnaire that's not listed then all you have to do is click on the "IMAGE" button in the "Insant UBB Code" box.
Then type out "http://www.legionworld.net/ubb/graemlins/[Your chosen Legionnaire's name using caps for the first letter of each word and no spaces].gif", example: KarateKid or PrincessProjectra in the box provided. Voila! The image is then imbedded into your post.
I think the Legion Smileys are a great invention. Of course, my favs are Tellus and Quislet. Wildfire is pretty cool too.
Is there any chance that we can get them added to the instant gremlins and icons? If no where else, they'd certainly look good in the Lightle section of Legion World.
Hmmm, come to think of it ... is there a Sensor Girl Smiley yet? If so, I haven't had the pleasure yet. Maybe she could create a Projecra illusion, or vise versa.

For you, Steve...
Sensor Girl and Mentalla. But as usual, all images are subject to change.
Wow! Does Nightcrawler have the Miracle Machine in his possession, or what?
Those are GREAT!
I'll have to tell Marianne that she has a Mentalla smiley now!
Thank you, o wizard of a million visages!
You never cease to impress me.
Steve
Thanks now gotta try that:
wooowoooow oooo it works!! a
THANKS!!
Also, superboymddjr, I have done some general comic character smilies. I had posted them at Rob's Boards and I think I'll repost them here, in case any one wants to use them. They are at my personal webspace, not on this site though.
They're all great as usual Gary. Just too bad you couldn't have this:
[*]
- very angry. "grr..." "you sunnuva...."
actually having him turn from Banner into the Hulk. But that would probably be too big a smilie.
Thanks, Scott.
Yeah, I was trying to keep the sizes down on the emoticons (the ones for emotions). With the standard ones, I don't care if they exceed 1KB or not.
I originally posted these at Rob's on June 12th.
I thought some of them looked familiar.
BTW, I haven't forgotten our project for smilies. Just been extremely busy and every time I go to work on it, the damn thing stumps me again.
Those are all really cool.
If you're looking for more work, how about a swearing smiley? Maybe Brin of Jo yelling "Sprock that!"
I LOVE the graemlins & icons! Thanks for taking the time and effort to put them together for us.
Actually, it may be worth mentioning that these are almost solely why I am here. Honest! I heard about this site on a mailing list and thought I'd give it a quick look see even though I am not much of a message board person. Hey, I'm lazy. Generally I have preferred mailing lists since I like my messages to come to me rather than me having to go to them
But one look at the site, and the icons, and I instantly knew this was a community with a heart!
Of course, if you are looking for extra work, how about some sort of an emoticon that says roughly
<homer> Mmmmmmm.... Colleeeen Doraaaan ....::slobber:: :
: </homer>

Not quite what you were asking for but this one says "Mmmmmmm.... Daavvee Coocckkrruum ....::slobber:: :
:"
And here's another Legion emoticon, I may add this one to the list...
Hee hee....you know, Dreamer can no longer sleep anymore. However I am hoping that someday Dreamer will find a way to finally sleep or else the Legion will ask her to do a 24-hour mission duty. ewwww....
Hey, ANOTHER idea!! How about a bouncing boy that will represent as "*bumping*" the thread back to the front page? Bouncing Boy!! What you think?

The Legion of Smiley Heroes are here!
It's not exactly the way I wanted it to work, but I couldn't deny Legion World any longer!
Wow! That's terrific, Gary!
Of the ones I hadn't seen before, my favorites are Reflecto, Spider Girl, and (dare I say it?) FORTRESS LAD!
Wow!
I'm blown away. Those are wonderful.
Terrific as always Gary. Sorry I couldn't help work out the kinks.
*tee hee!*
Gary ROCKS!!!
My new "mad" smiley:
I'm glad that my smiley is on here. Thanks, Gary.
Well, some of the drawbacks to this hack (I want to say them before someone else does.
) are...
The instant message boxes do not show for the creating polls page. That page is written so screwy I can't figure out how to get the smileys to appear without it looking like shit (please excuse my french).
Smilies only show at the end of the post. They no longer get inserted at the cursor.
They take forever to frickin' load. Which is why I've narrowed the list a bit still. Trying with one exception (see above) to keep them Legion related and hopefully not too redundant.
They show up in some weird and to me annoying order. This one I'll have to do by hand and I'll wait till I have more patience.
Anyway, I'm working on these problems and any others I've forgotten to mention.
(I want to say them before someone else does. )
I don't know who would have anything to say and how it would be justified. We all appreciate all the hard work and love you have put into this site. I think it would be madness to overly criticize and criticize when you put so much effort into making this a supremely cool internet hangout for us Legion fans. My concern is that you keep your sanity, what with all the hard work you do on this site!
LOVE my smiley!!!
I hate a bad hair day!
As I've said before Gary, they are all great and you spend way too much time trying to please us all.
Now considering that, you just know someone is going to ask that you change Cham's pumpkin to a turkey, Christmas tree, New Year's baby, etc. Maybe you should just put him back the way he was before you have even more work to do.
Thanks, G!
Now everytime I accidentally delete something when I'm trying to reply to it, I can just type
!
Er...did I mention that error that happens when you click a smilie wasn't there when I tested it last night? I've changed things a bit since, so I guess I need to go back to the drawing board. *sigh*
Wow, the list keeps going and going. These are awesome!!!!!!

Well, I fixed that bug, but at the cost of some userability on Scott's and my part. I'm starting to see a pattern. To gain something, I must lose something.
You can click on a smilie in the pop up window from the "View & More Smilies" link and that smilie will now appear at the end of your post. Trying to figure out this code is making my head hurt, so I think I'll take a break from this a bit. Enjoy!

As fun a game as I'm sure this is, Pofobo, you should probably be told that you can get a list of smileys by clicking on "View & More Smileys" under the Instant Graemlins when you reply to a message.
Did you get the list of Alt-IDs I PMed you?
"View more smilies"
Huh. Isn't that neat. What will they think of next.
So, for Chirstmas, I would like a clue please....
You can also view them from the "faq" link at the top of the page, Duke.
Don't worry. Most of the things you typed will appear as graemlins eventually.
