Friday I was playing tackle football with several of 80 inner city middle school kids that voluntarily enrolled in the summer school where I teach. All day for four weeks they take Math, Science, English and Computers. Isn't it great to know the future is in their good hands?

By tomorrow I'm hoping my legs will feel something other than pain. 46 and counting on many grumpy years to come.

My Gramps was born on the 4th. I was his birthday present, back in 1958

My day always started with Gramps calling to wish me Happy Birthday. He passed hmmm seven years ago but the call is still my first thought of the day.

About right, not so wierd. Most of my friends' kids are just in or close to beginning college and my friends with money now have two girlfriends your age.

Also 1958 was the year the Legion of Superheros was born (I'm correct on that ain't I?)

Happy birthday! Did you seen any weird looking fireworks? I was at a show, I think in Boston a couple years back and some fireworks prematurely went off on the fireworks barge that was launching them. Cool...scary, but cool.

I can't believe this is the first time I've noticed your birthday was on the 4th! Happy Birthday to a distinguished scholar and gentleman.

(Actually, it's not too surprising my ignorance. Number 1 son was born on the 4th too. Today's his 7th birthday. It's usually days until I recover enough from putting on the party to do things like visit message boards. July 4th is also the birthday of one of grandmothers, now 89 years old.)

Thanks everyone, it was a great day always made even better with a visit to LW. Just got back from the annual trek up river to the fireworks. They were spectacular and of course more importantly it's one of the rare times of the year I see my adopted family.


And of course had to follow with a visit to LW before beddie-by.
