Name the 3 Titans who helped the Postboot Legion against COMPUTO.
Clue: the Legion has fairly long histories with two of the three.
Still two right. Hint, the third character is more associated with another team
Where's my mind at? Sorry Thoth you have to guess three characters in your post, I haven't confirmed any correct guesses yet!
Superboy
Kid Flash
Kyle Rayner
took two for granted there.
No, it's my fault. I wasn't so clear with my I Q.
I have a second apology to make as well - there were actually FOUR Titans present! Superboy, Impulse (Bart), Kyle Rayner... And Robin (Tim Drake).
Which means that while thothy got the 3 I was thinking of, Blacula's earlier answer was already correct -
Drat that Robin. So forgettable despite his bright red and yellow costume. How dare he spend most of the story sitting at a computer thinking of computer viruses that can defeat COMPUtO?
Next question goes to Blacula. Thothkins gets a shirt saying "I read IB's mind and all I got was this lousy shirt saying I read his mind right but I didn't get the Q anyway". To be delivered 50 years from now.

Not Zatanna? So much for me guessing John Constantine...
Jimmy Olsen?
Ooohh, just thinking Jimmy Olsen too.
If not Olsen then I'm going to pretend that there was a huge Lois Lane/ Martian Manhunter crossover.
Lois Lane

Booster Gold it is! I'm amazed it took this long to find the answer. All the clues seemed so obvious to me but I guess that's what happens when you know the answer.
P.S. The character that got killed by the Dimension X aliens was BG's sister Goldstar.
Wow!
Honestly, the clue that threw me off was "* Though I'm sure this character has met most of the guessed characters above in one event or another, to the best of my knowledge, they've only ever had significant interactions with three of them." Booster worked closely with Wonder Woman for a time in JLA after Superman died, and he was briefly (I think) on the team at the same time as Hawkman and Captain Marvel during the JLI days. I also didn't know about his live action appearance.
But the "closely associated with another hero" clue helped put me back on the right track.
New Q up sooon!
In the awful, awful Titans/Legion Universe Ablaze crossover, after the Legionnaires find out the Titans are being controlled by Universo, they send four squads out to stop the Titans.
Which five Legionnaires were left behind at headquarters?
To win, you have to guess all five Legionnaires in one post.
Gates
Brainiac 5
Shrinking Violet
Live Wire
Invisible Kid
Gates
Brainiac 5
Ultra Boy
Chameleon
Spark
Aw come on guys, there are only 24 possible answers in all
Ultra Boy
Chameleon
Spark
Live Wire
Invisible Kid
None correct in this guess!
Hint: the five correct answers were all very surprising choices, IMO. Each could have made a big difference in battle with the Titans.
Gates
Brainiac 5
Saturn Girl
M'onel
Apparition
Two correct again.

Saturn Girl
Invisible Kid
Brainiac 5
Kinetix
Element Lad
Tried to do a process of elimination from the Legionnaires I could remember who did go on missions, but it's been awhile.
Two correct as well.
Some of those missions were terribly unmemorable
Or so bad as to want me to wipe the whole thing from my memory!
I think the problem with relying on memory for that mini is that there were so many away teams at various points through the series that they blur together. The initial discovery crew, chasing after the Titans, infiltrating Titan, the final battle - etc.
Relying on instinct (I felt like KQII was one of them but ruled her out - rescinding that now):
Brainiac 5
Gates
Kinetix
Kid Quantum II
Star Boy
Also true, there were several away teams at various points throughout the mini. Probably because the writers had to try and fit 24 Legionnaires in.
AND instinct plus memory together gave it to you! You got the correct answer!!
Oddly enough, three of the most powerful Legionnaires - all of whom were effective long-range fighters - plus the Legion's teleporter were left behind while poorly chosen teams were sent to fight the other Titans.
Just look at the horrid team ups below:
1) vs. Argent and Tempest underwater - Spark (!), Element Lad, Cosmic Boy, Sensor and Chameleon
2) vs. Donna Troy, Arsenal and Starfire - Monstress, Thunder, Ferro, Karate Kid, Triad. None of whom have much long-range capability.
3) vs. Wally West, Omen - XS, Violet, Ultra Boy, Live Wire
4) Going to Titan - Invisible Kid, Saturn Girl, M'Onel, Umbra, Apparition
So, yeah, the teams weren't that stupid, but... sending a hero with electrical powers underwater? Forming a team full of hand-to-hand combatants against an Amazon, and leaving behind many of the most powerful long-range combatants? Sure. Or maybe I'm just teed off that some of my faves like Gates and Kinetix were left behind and got almost nothing to do through the whole mini
Over to you, Future!!
I had the wrong "mission underwater" away team in my head the first guess and forgot that for Gates to be effective transport, he probably wasn't actually on the Titan team like I thought he was but rather at HQ. I think three of those five Legionnaires were still in my head from a similar trivia question probably ten years ago now. Jeepers, we're old.
True story! I just re-read the first year of Teen Titans vol. 3 last night without planning to jump in here. So a related question from that era:
The four new Titans at the start of volume 3 (Robin, Superboy, Impulse, and Wonder Girl) were all pretty emo and not that excited to be at Titans Tower. Which of those four heroes was the only one that seemed to actually want to be there of their own free will, no reservations?
I may have asked this same question before, I can't be sure
I know I definitely criticized this story many times before, and because the team choices were a big factor in my annoyance, I'm sure I cited the exclusions of Kinetix, Kid Q and Gates.
We may be old, but we're still young at heart
(And I won't consider myself old until I hit the big 3-0...!)

Only hero who wanted to be there - Impulse?
To be fair, it would have been in a Legion trivia thread so it wouldn't be redundant here!
30 isn't old. It's when you can finally say you know better (knowing and acting are two different things, however).
Impulse it is, which shouldn't be too surprising given his personality. Go, Ibby.
Thanks, Future!
Yes, and even if it had been redundant, nothing wrong with recycling an old question after a decade
That's what I tell Blaze too! But he's hitting the 30 two years before I do, and already the poor dear is worried. And that's despite being babyfaced
I was going to guess Superboy, but remembered how hyped up Impulse would likely have been.
Be back with a new Q soon!
Not strictly a Titans question, but:
In COIE, several Titans were included in the second gathering of heroes sent to help save and recruit Earths 4, X and S.

8. Flash (Jay Garrick)
... blanking on the rest.
Possibly, but it was a while and I may not have asked for all 15 characters. Good start though, all correct.

Oh yeah, it's an amazing page. And it's great how Wolfman and Perez fit in so much characterization in so few pages. COIE is a big inspiration in my own writing, especially when I have to write ginormous battle scenes featuring dozens, even hundreds, of characters in a series of short scenes.

3. Changeling
4. Black Canary II
5. Northwind
6. Blok
7. Martian Manhunter

Over to you, Blacula!
An easy one to keep the ball rolling -
Name the two hair colours that Jillian Jackson was most commonly depicted with.
I was going with th e original Hawkman and the se....ah, no I wasn't... fah!
Pink & Purple?
Neither combo is correct.
Neither of those colours is correct.
could be that Ibby....
Pink and blonde (her natural colour and black has been ruled out)
I don't know where I got the idea about green myself. Maybe because Gar was green all over?
Pink and blonde it is.
Over to you TK.
I don't know where I got the idea about green myself. Maybe because Gar was green all over?
They were an on and off couple, so I could easily see her having green hair as some sort of nod to their relationship. Creepy, just the way DC likes it.
oh, and thanks for guessing black first. It made picking blonde easier. New Q soon... as I'm a bit behind round these parts.
Of course, black and green seemed like a natural combination. Then I realized that pink seemed much more common so I should have picked that...
I wonder which Titan we will learn about next?
Yeah, it will be interesti...oh, heck...
What's this the back cover of...it's an index... bah it's the Legion one... ah, here we are... random page... oh, the painstaking effort I put into these...
Right. 4 New characters were introduced in The New Teen Titans #8, as the book established it's cast. Who were they?

Was this the 'A Day in the Life' issue?
I think the Disruptor first appeared there.
Maybe Questor did as well?
I think it was the Day in the Life issue, but my Titans memory is sadly limited.
Trident?
Cyborg's dad?
Was this the 'A Day in the Life' issue?
Yes, that's the one.
I think the Disruptor first appeared there.
Maybe Questor did as well?
The disruptor wasn't in this issue. The villain here was the Puppeteer behind the scenes.
But Vernon Questor was one I'm looking for.
1 Sarah Simms
2 Terry Long
3 Vernon Questor
4
Neither Trident or Cyborg's dad. The one remaining is a link to a character already with one on the list above. This link will be a stepping stone towards the tam facing one of it's biggest villains.
On the other hand, you could go for the two who had already appeared elsewhere. The hint here is to think on which members of the cast could have had people who had appeared elsewhere before the title started.
Reappeared:
Steve Dayton?
Jillian Jackson?
Both good (particularly with Jillian), but not correct.
I really need to do a reread...
Wally West's mom?
Yay! That's one of the characters who had appeared elsewhere. Any guess as to who the otehr reappearing one was (there's a link to Mrs West)
Was one of them Marcy Reynolds (or whatever her name was) - Cyborg's girlfriend who got killed by Brother Blood?
Yay and Yay! Excellent shout on Marcy Reynolds. After I put up the question, I wondered if it was a little too obscure (I'd have settled for Cyborg's girlfriend or anything close.)
From what I remember, she ended up being connected to the church of Brother Blood.
The other appearance was Wally's dad. The issue's success really paved the way for a lot of other comics.
Over to you Blacula!
I'd had Marcy Reynolds in my head right from the start but for some reason was thinking that she'd originally appeared in the 'Tales of the Teen Titans' mini. That might have been published after this issue now that I think about it though. Or else I'm just imagining things and she never appeared there at all.
Hmmm... question...
OK here's a sort of random one -
Whatever happened to Goth (the Titans villain)?
Uh,.. Became a makeup artist for Scare Tactics?

I think she would have been in the Cyborg issue. That may even have been another plot point before the Brother Blood story.
Sadly I own at least an issue with Goth in it.
He tried to depress Mary Marvel and spontaneously combusted in a cloud of self pity?
Haha Loving these guesses. Goth really was a crappy character wasn't he.
No, Goth suffered a more fitting fate in a certain comic.
Turned into a gargoyle (to decorate one of Brother Blood's lairs)?
After Marilyn Manson sued, Goth was forced to change his make up and appear on episodes of Glee with a big smile.
No one was too surprised to hear about Goth's death. Some you can see coming. But what they didn't know was that Goth died saving an orphan from traffic (not the '60s band).
That got him sent straight to heaven. There, Goth's record with Glee got him placed into a lovely, sweet, cherubic choir where he could smile and sing forever on happy clouds.
The other Cherubs thought Goth's singing would have been better. To them, it sounded like endless screaming.
haha That sounds like a fate worse than death.
(Which is what Goth suffered.) Winner is whoever tells me where and by whom.
Clue: it was in a non-Titans related ongoing series.
I think you're referring to the gargoyle thing?
Um...
Alternate dimension by Spectre?
Turned into a pile of ash by Neron in a rubbish Justice League Crossover issue.
Hmmm I had remembered Goth as being killed by a certain character in a certain comic, but re-reading the issue summary then, it seems a bit more vague than that.
He was definitely killed though. And it happened in a certain comic. (The 'who by' is debatable.)
TK - is very close though. Both in the series and the type of character who (might have) done him in.
TK - is very close though.
This is usually a kiss of death to my chances around here.
If not JLA, then what about JSA and (rats, the Spectre has been guessed)... Doctor Fate punts him out of our dimension?
JSA is correct!
He died in Justice Society of America #9.
I thought he was killed by Gog (who was going around killing 'God-like' other-worldly characters at the time) but the issue summary leaves it a bit vague.
Over to you TK.
Spectre, Dr. Fate... I should really remember my colors better. Green and white costume vs. gold and blue? Tsk, IB, tsk.
Nice going, thothy!
And thanks for the Q, Blacula. Had fun reading up on Goth again (after the answer had been guessed of course :p)
Yay! If you lower the threshold enough, I stand a chance
Does it show how he was killed Blacula?
At the time, Goth was one of the poorest characters I could recall.
Opening the Titans Index, it does indeed show that Marcy Reynolds appeared in the Cyborg issue of the mini series. The mini was her first chronological appearance, while issue #8 was the first actual appearance.
What/Who was behind the cause of Frances Kane's "possession"
For free, I can say it wasn't Goth.
Frances' possession was actually the manifestation of her magnetic powers, though her mom didn't think so. Then later on she was implanted with a Trigon seed, and still later she would become imbalanced because of her magnetic powers. Poor Frances, cannot catch a break.
I read that Goth died trying to channel powerful dark magic. He ended up charred with a gaping hole in his chest. oops.

According to my little index ('cause I've not read this one in yonkles of years) there was a thing/person behind the manifestation of the powers. Nearly there...
I read that Goth died trying to channel powerful dark magic. He ended up charred with a gaping hole in his chest. oops.
Manson's legal team possibly took the heart as part payment.
Hmmm, thing/person. Hmmm...
too early for Trigon?
Trigon actually first appeared before this issue but he wasn't the one possessing poor Fran.
It was the one and only Dr Polaris as I recall.
Always liked that character. Until they gave him that hideous, overly-busy purple costume with the black, thigh-high, stripper boots. Ug-ly.
Yay! It was Dr Polaris. I hadn't remembered that one at all, and had thought along the same lines as Ibby.
He always seemed to have more potential than he's been shown as having in all those villain event comics.
O'er to thee Blacula!
Wow, I totally forgot that Dr. Polaris had even appeared there! Good to know that Polaris from X-Men isn't the only female character who controls magnetism who has been controlled by an annoying, evil, older magnetism controller and has had her head messed up as a result...
Let's hope it's a sub plot that doesn't reach Braal.
Which Titan shares a codename with an enemy of the Justice League?
(There may be others beyond the one I'm thinking of, so if you think you know a different one, please provide a link.)
Hmmm good catch! I liked Osiris (the Cadre member turned JLA ally). I was sorry we didn't see more of him and Seneca (I think that was the other Cadre member who turned good).
I thought of giving it to you IB but then I decided that Osiris doesn't really fit the description of "enemy of the Justice League" in the same way that Red Tornado and Rogue don't fit the description with regard to their respective teams.
So keep trying.
If I ask real nice in my best innocent voice while flashing a big big smile will you give it to me?
Enigma?
Does the Tatooed Man count? Wasn't he on that villainous team that had a titans title?
No but nice try IB.
Not Enigma.
I'll disallow the Tattooed Man too:
a) because I'm not sure how "official" the membership of those 'Titans for Hire' was (hopefully not at all since that whole concept was distasteful); and
b) because the original Tattooed Man was more of a Green Lantern enemy than a Justice League enemy.
To rephrase the question -
I'm looking for a codename shared by:
a) a villain who was only an enemy of the Justice League; and
b) a hero who was only a member of the Titans.
Minion?
(random guessing will eventually get it! :p)
Yes it will.
But not this time.
a) a villain who was only an enemy of the Justice League;
oh,
only a JLA villain is it?
Why that's ....um... hmmm...
so, yeah I wasn't a fan of that Titans either. Nor the drafting in 50 members during 1 year later. Pretty pointless, except to make Ibby's guessing here last a loooong time.
We're gonna be here a long, long, loooong time.
Mirage?
I had nothing after tattooed man, so I'll let you get on with it Ibby until I think of something else
Some of these guesses have been quite good actually. It's funny how many heroes' names sound quite villainous too. Mirage actually is the name of a villain (of Batman's), but he never fought the Justice League.
Clue 1: the villain is/was part of a team who only appeared post-Crisis.
Clue 2: the Titan is male.
Power Boy? Just off the top of my head...
I have probably never heard of this villain, so I am just guessing based on how villainous the Titan code names are.
Good thing none of the male Titans changed code names as often as Ayla Ranzz did...
Damage?
Not Damage (who's also been a member of the JSA and the SSoV and therefore doesn't fit the clue). But that's another name that would suit a villain. Strange that we never saw any Earth 3 versions of Titans (to my knowledge); they wouldn't even have had to change their names.
Not Power Boy either.
Q: Please tell me a codename shared by:
a) a villain who was only an enemy of the Justice League; and
b) a hero who was only a member of the Titans.
NOT: Talon, Osiris, Enigma, The Tattooed Man, Minion, Mirage, Power Boy, Damage
Clue 1: the villain is/was part of a team who only appeared post-Crisis.
Clue 2: the Titan is male.
Clue 3: the villain can fly.
Clue 4: so can the Titan.
P.S. Knowing the comics you've read IB, I suspect that you might be familiar with this villain (but maybe not).
Hmm... I may be familiar with the villain, but none are ringing any bells at the moment.
Oh wait... knowing the comics I've read...
Golden Eagle?
Golden Eagle... Teen Titan!
Golden Eagle... Nazi member of the Aryan Brotherhood!
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=...AQ#tbm=isch&q=golden+eagle+dc+comicsSee, it wasn't that hard. Over to you IB.
Thanks for that last comment, Blacula! It led me to the Cadre, which led me to the Aryan Brotherhood! That story in JLTF where they appeared still chills me.
Good one Ibby. I only remember Golden Eagle form his Charley Parker days. I don;t think I've even read the Aryan Brotherhood issues I got form the bargain bin (if I even bothered with those).
Thanks thothy. Charles eventually became a short-term sex slave for a Monitor servant or something, which I like to pretend never happened
I reckon Dr Sivana has taken over DC and fires a deviant beam at anyone entering the building.
Dad: Here Timmy. This comic has a Monitor in it. So, it must follow on from the Crisis I read when I was younger. That'll be safe.
Timmy: What's this guy with wings doing?
Dad: Gaaaaaaah!!!
Timmy: Does this mean more therapy, like the Red Hood & Outlaws comic or the Gl one with the fridge?
Somewhere, poor Lian Harper is shaking her head sadly.
Probably, she's also wondering what her father is doing to that dead cat down that alleyway. Another DC triumph*
Ironically, Triumph was another DC disaster.
I always have a hard time thinking of Titans questions, so another easy one...
Kole once defended Changeling's reputation to another hero. Who was that hero?
Nope. Metamorpho once asked, "you're Kole, aren't you?" One of my first clues that Kole was a newbie hero. But they didn't talk about Gar.
(Oh wait. I think I just remembered who this might be. I'll leave it a bit to see if anyone else wants to jump in.)
Nope, not Halo. I have a feeling your next guess will be the correct one!
Is it Tempest (Joshua Clay)?
Indeed it is, during COIE!
The heroes are invading Earth-4, S and X in order to stop the supervillain army assembled by Luthor and Brainiac. Changeling takes out the guards on Earth-4. Tempest remarks that Gar did his job; Kole responds, "from what I gather, he usually does." Another clue that Kole was a newbie. Then Tempest goes, "that's not the rumor I heard in the new Doom Patrol. Celsius says she..." and he is cut off when he spots some villains.
That scene made me love Kole all the more. Sweet and loyal!
Over to you Blacula!
Speaking of Crisis - which Titan was mentioned in the series but never actually appeared?
Raven, because "everything about her has been changed"?
Cool! I remembered that scene. Lucky for Raven, if it had been her there she may have ended up suffering the fate of the Psycho Pirate.
And this makes me realize that Raven and Kole never actually met each other, did they?
New Q up soon!
Thanks for the bump!
OK easy one. Changeling almost made Kole cry when fighting which villain?
Black Adam? I think all my answers for Kole questions start off with Black Adam.
She did manage to encase him in crystal once... but no.
Crumbs, she wasn't around for long (stop sobbing Ibby) to have fought many folks. Um, Thia or Thea or however the spelling goes?
*sob* Oh, poor, sweet Kole! *sob* *gasp* *choke*
Not Thia.
Poor Kole, she even lost her parents. But was the villain her dad?
Nope!
Gar knew this villain better than she did. Well, he knew most villains better seeing as how he was around longer... *sob*
Was it Mento? I don't think Kole was around to see Gar & Steve reconciled, because...well, you know... um...Crisis..and..aw, c'mon not more tears...
Yes, it was! Kole tried to help Mento escape by shoring up the hole he created in the ground, but couldn't.
*sob* alas poor Kole...
over to you thothy!
What stopped the Titans being initially effective in trying to stop infamous jewel thief, Andre Le Blanc?
He blinded them with his jewels?
It resulted in poor teamwork, but what caused that?
Kid Flash didn't trust Red Star because he was a dirty commie?
That's the one. Over in
Fickles' Alternate Titans thread (oooh! LW Crossover!)Wally's relationship with Starfire is reexamined. Here, we get to see Wally with a different Starfire, and things don't go well.
O'er to ye Blacula!
I'm going to be incommunicado for the next few days so here's an easy one -
Which member of the Fab 5 founders was ret-conned into that group?
A speedy answer is a correct answer.
Over to you IB.
Thanks, Blacula.
Hmmm, here's a fairly easy one, I hope. (Thinking of Titans questions is haaaaaaaaaaaard).
Which female Legionnaire did Roy Harper try to flirt with?
Duo Damsel for the obvious reaction from some of her other selves?
Close enough. It was Post Zero Hour Triad.
Over to you thothy!
Oh, not like me to get one right so early. The New Question will be here before the answer to it!
Is it Pantha's dismembered head?
Right. What did the Titans accidentally use for a ball when trying to have a Titans celebration day?
Oh Ibby! You spoiled it!
Well, lucky guess thothy!
In Devin Grayson's Titans run, the team help Starfire and her brother against the slave trading Gordonians. What was the catch?
Uh... They were also inadvertently helping Tamaran out in a territorial dispute?
It turned out they were lied to about what was going on and were actually helping Tamaran take over the Gordanians homeworld.
While Ibby's nearly there, Sarcasm Kid nails it, as it was that sense of betrayal that was strong through the storyline.
Kory basically lies to her teammates to get them to back a Tamaran take over of Gordanian territory. Her brother diverts the Omega Men to allow the military operation to proceed.
Over to you Sarcasm Kid
Nagging PM sent to Sarky. So thothy won't think I only nag him
Oh! I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner.
The demonic Goth that had fought the Titans during Devin Grayson's run went by another name at one point in his career.
What was that name, what career did Goth have at that point, and what DC crossover event did it tie into?
I think he was a rock star, but can't remember the name. Underworld Unleashed?
Nagging PM sent to Sarky. So thothy won't think I only nag him
You're nagging
other posters! > sense of betrayal<
What was that name, what career did Goth have at that point, and what DC crossover event did it tie into?
Mary-Lynn Mansoni (in a gender switch) who was also a singer and I'll also go with Underworld Unleashed.
And here I thought you didn't LIKE my nagging!
But that doesn't mean I want other people not to like it too
Aw, who knew you were such a masochist?
up for Sarky...
He WAS a rock star, but it wasn't Underworld Unleashed.
Did it tie into Infinite Crisis? Superboy punched reality to turn all musicians into 1950s easy listening groups.
Now we only have to guess the right event. Shouldn't take more than a dozen guesses
Not Infinite Crisis or Day of Judgement, although the villain in question was involved in the Day of Judgement spotlight issue for the Titans.
Think of any events that happened during the first Titans volume. Anything involving teen characters.
We're talking Silver Age then? Hmmm.... The Teen Titans/Titans West team up?
Nope.
This event involved kid and teen heroes, but the Titans weren't heavily involved. Although some of the heroes who were became Titans eventually.
Sins of Youth? (in case it's not silver age)
That's probably correct! I can't think of anything else.
Thoth you guessed right, and I've decided to end the question there and give the next one to you.
I'm sorry I dragged this out for so long.
No problems Sarky.I got to share more of my dislike for Goth this way :-)
New question soon!
Thread crossover!
The Titans have split up to find Mr Esper. They split up into groups of 6, 6 and 3. Who was in each group? I could have give a list of Titans available, but that would be too easy.

That's it! This issue shows Bumblebee has a stinger on her butt.
Your question Ibby!
That stinger must have been her Mal-deterrent! New Q up soon!
I had no idea that he was such a mal-content.
He also likes to malinger.
That's just mal-adjusted.
Mal's lines to Karen are mostly a bunch of Mal-arkey.
I thought you last post was going to Herald a new question , oh Guardian of Spaceopoly :-)
Don't try to horn in on my thinking time
Just checking that there wasn't a Mal-function.
In JLA/Titans, all the Titans were collected by a not-quite-himself Cyborg.
Beast Boy, Flash (Wally), Raven and Nightwing were among the first to be free. Which four Titans did they see who made them say, "Wow Vic was thorough - the gang's all here and I do mean EVERYONE?"
Wasn't one of them Flamebird? I remember thinking that was unkind.
There was the large creature that hung around with Argent's team, but the name escapes me.
Harlequin and um...Risk?
Only one correct.
And yes, I also felt it was unkind. They were Titans too
1) Flamebird
1) Mal
2) Flamebird
3) Lilith
4)
Ooooh, all from that era too. Golden Eagle?
Yup! I thought it was particularly unkind as Mal, Bumblebee and Lilith were all among the earliest Titans and Flamebird was still part of the extended Titans team.
over to you thoth.
You're right, none of them deserve that comment. I've always thought they were referring to Flamebrod, but you're probably right about it being all four.
I think of Flamebird in the Perez drawings, but not as Bat Girl as I didn't read the older titans issues until later.
She's always been seen as a bit of a hanger on, but I liked the visual, so I felt a bit disappointed to see her treated as a joke.
Mal looked interesting as Guardian. Bumblebee was a bright spot in some later Doom Patrol issue. Lilith was part of the Wolfman angst issues for me, but her older appearances are better.
NTT Q Before Trigon transforms the world!
Again, I didn't read the others until later, but Mal as Guiardian always looked interesting.
They were referring to all four - or at least, Herald and Bumblebee definitely.
Flamebird always had a great costume, and I always felt she was competent enough.
Bumblebee invented her own suit even way way back, so I felt she deserved more respect than she got. And Mal was a good non-powered combatant.
Which fictional character did Lilith believe she was the reincarnation of when the Titans were in Europe?
Nope, and note fictional to help narrow it down.
Nope, it is a literary figure though.
Maid Marian, looking for her Robin Hood, and throwing up when she finds the closest match is Roy Harper?
No, that's actually a better fit than the actual issue. It's not a character from England, although it was written there.
Alas my English literature is spotty.
Juliet, looking for her Romeo?
Bingo! It was indeed Juliet from the Titans trip to Italy! Better art than idea in that one.
O Next Question, Next Question! wherefore art thou Next Question?
Next question is lying in a grave pretending to be dead. It will be revived in a bit, as soon as I give the signal...
Ack I forgot to give the signal! Thinking, thinking...
What is the occupation of Solstice's parents? Pre-Flashpoint.
Yay! for standard comic character archetypes. I could have been guessing for ages otherwise
New Question a little later...
Donna Troy fails to win a brooch at an auction. She's then given the brooch by the winner of the auction. What was unusual about the brooch?
It contained an evil spirit?
Yes it did. It was a Beetle Brooch. It showed Donna a vision of a warrior's struggle. After quite a few perilous adventures in the Amazon, the ...um...Amazon... got the brooch back to it's home. Only to find the person how gave it to her there already. He was the servant to the being in the brooch.
The warrior in her vision turned out to be a fib. She really was to be the mate of a giant beetle. Yuck! The other titans were wrapped up to be used as a food source.
Pretty icky and just waiting for a tie in with Blue Beetle.
Over to you Ibby.
wow. Honestly did not expect to guess correctly, but then most unusual brooches have to do with evil beings.
New Q up... soon!
Name one major inconsistency in how Kole's powers were portrayed.
How does crystal generation allow you to fly?
Yup. We see her flying in COIE, but in the main Titans comic and in Convergence she often had to use her crystals as a slide.
Over to you thothy.
The Titans board the Teen-Copter to begin a rescue of a DJ stuck in space.
The secret entrance to the copter bay is behind a billboard. What's on the billboard?
A famous quartet of musicians?
No, but you've got the right time period, which is pretty important. It's not music though.
Blacula gets it. It was the Batman TV show. I think there was an ad in the comic for the show too.
Over to you Blacula!
Which Titan was originally known as Slagger?
Yes it was. And thank goodness that name didn't last longer than an issue!
(Though apparently Joto wasn't much of an improvement to Spanish speakers.)
Too bad, as Joto meant "heat" in Swahili, if I'm not mistaken.
Hotspot is a good alternative IMO.
I think I only know this one thanks to an earlier question on this thread
I had a new question, but I'm trying to find it in the new post-convergence DCU.
The Titans investigate why there's no student protests at a university in the early 1970s. How are the students being kept in line?
Nope, but on the right lines.
I love that the Titans have a problem with the fact that a community has no problems. haha
Is this the one with the puppets on the cover? I'll say someone was "pulling everyone's strings" through some type of mind/body control.
Drugs in the water?
As the Titans well know, all teens are trouble-makers!
Or, since it's a university campus, drugs in the drugs?
Drugs in the rugs, the mugs and the logs!
It's not the cover with the puppets, it's the cover where Kid Flash gets beaten up.
It is mind control, but not drugs making folks give bear hugs in snug rugs holding steaming hot mugs to be chugged, man.
So, how else did they control those rebellious young minds?
Nope no Fiddler or Pied Piper (or any other villain for that matter) required.
As if anyone could get students to study! Not books. It's something that's done to them.
Nope. It's done a little more directly than that.
It's in the air? Gas while they sleep?
No, it's done during the day.
Still poison gas, while taking classes?
No, although technology is used.
I'm tempted to ask for more information just to see where you're going with that one...but no it's not the showers.
You SAID it's something done in the morning, and a lot more direct than food. So I guessed showers.
A picture is taken and they get hypnotized by the flash?
You SAID it's something done in the morning, and a lot more direct than food. So I guessed showers.
Hactually, I said it was done during the day. The early morning showers were all yours...and continue to be all yours
A picture is taken and they get hypnotized by the flash?
Not a camera, and think more mind control than hypnotism.
Hey, most people here shower in the morning! Heat and humidity, my friend
Mind control by playing music?
Mind control...but not by music. But as I mentioned it's using technology. Possibly think along the lines of conspiracy theories and spy films.
Nope. It's something that's done to the students.
Ah, getting closer in that it's invasive.
Hmm... Tattoos? Maybe too invasive, but first thing that came to mind.
thanks for the clues, btw!
Not tattoos. More than skin deep.
Hmmm...
invasive... not vaccinations... not tattoos...
done during the day...
???
A... massage with mind influencing oils??
More invasive than that.
It's done during the day because it suits the cover story for it.
Nope, it's not something that's applied to the skin, but goes a bit deeper than that.
Nope, it's invasive. So it's nothing fired at anyone.
Thermometer used during medical exam?
I'm going to give it to you for medical exam. The students were taken in for a routine meeting, only to have mind control implants inserted. All very shadowy government/ alien conspiracy.
You're up Ibby, and a good job persevering through the options on that one.
Huh, a routine meeting. Interesting. Thanks thothy, for giving it to me.
New Q up soon!
Well, the emphasis was on the surgery that happened to the students, but it was a routine appointment that gave them the access to everyone. It was when the Titans were weren't always in costume. So, it was fitting that some of the bad guys could be more normal types too.
Ah, surgery. I guess the bad guys had no super powers and stuff then.
Okay, this should be an easy one...
Who does Kole turn to for love advice about Jericho in Teen Titans Convergence?
(big hint: NOT GAR LOGAN)
I'm sure I've had lots of problems with your "easy" ones...:)
Wonder Girl. Everyone always confided in Wondy.
Ding ding ding! Over to you thoth.
Yeah, the exception to your "easy2 ones. I bet I get stuck on the next one
All robot Cyborg is thinking of a question...and how to destabilise the moon...I mean and will return soon. Not moon. Soon...
Sure, blame it on the question asker
Doctor Light gets a huge group of Titans to come and attack him. What was he using as bait?
Do you happen to know which hostage?
Not a former Titan (yeah, I know why not?)
Some random storekeeper/bystander/civilian?
Not Lian but part of that franchise.
Ouch for Blacula guessing Kole and Lian in two answers. I can hear the sobs of some posters from here
Nearly there...just a gender issue.
Yeah, for some reason they picked Oliver Queen. Something else else to do with Identity Crisis. Thankfully it's wiped form my mind more effectively than a Zatanna spell.
Over to you Ibby!
The story sounded vaguely familiar but I guess I wiped it from my mind as well!
Ok, thinking of a question so I don't stall this thread...
uh...
uh...
uh...
Oh!
In JLA/Titans, when Cyborg's probes went out to collect all living former Titans, they missed three.
Who were these three?
Note: the "former Titans" status of at least two of the three characters is debatable.
Yikes! that's going to take some thinking... There were loads of them in that one.
Was GNarrk one? Um... Jason Todd and Supergirl the latter two due to various retcon/character reboots?
No to all of them. Jason was dead then, Supergirl (Matrix) was present, and Gnaark... I have no idea where he was but I'm fairly sure he was dead too.
By "missed" I'm thinking of living Titans.
With all the retcons, I'm not always sure who's dead at any one time.
A case in point, is Dove (not Don Hall, the next one) one of the three?
Oh, the guy from the drugs comics.. The Protector.
Another not sure if he's dead at that point or back - Golden Eagle?
At that point in time Dove (Dawn Granger) and Golden Eagle were both still "dead".
Not counting the Protector since his canon existence isn't quite confirmed.
Not counting the Protector since his canon existence isn't quite confirmed.
Awww... I was quite pleased at that one...
Had Jesse Quick been with the Titans by then? I'll try that one.
No, this was before her tenure.
In JLA/Titans, when Cyborg's probes went out to collect all living former Titans, they missed three.
Who were these three?
Note: the "former Titans" status of at least two of the three characters is debatable.
Note: All 3 characters I'm thinking of appeared in-story. I'm not counting characters who were officially "dead" at that time. Nor am I counting characters who were officially "unavailable". These are characters who were, for all intents and purposes, official Titans. One of those was still unavailable but whose absence was not totally explained; two others were picked up by the probes as Titans allies but who could/should have been counted as "official" Titans.
Not:
Dove (Dawn Granger)
Gnaark
Jason Todd
Supergirl
Golden Eagle
Protector
Jesse Quick
Thunder & Lightning for the probe ones?
Nope. They were never considered Titans (though they did appear as Titans allies).
What about the original Hawk? I remember Risk being the one that started the fight, but Hawk was also super aggressive.
Risk did start the fight, and the original Hawk was the super-villain with the weird name Extant at the time, and did not actually appear in-story.
Does that mean that Hawk counts? There's no reason why it couldn't have nabbed a villain. Or was he off in time fighting Captain Atom (both messed with as a result of that "Event").
I have no idea where he was at the time
I suppose he could count, though he wasn't one of the three I was thinking of... but I'll give him to you anyway
So there are still 3 possible answers, but only 2 more have to be guessed.

Nice of you Ibby. I'd have accepted a "He was off fighting dinosaurs with Cap Atom and Cyborg couldn't time travel."
Does the winged cry baby who was in the early Baxter series count? Not Zauriel (another stinker) but something like that.
"Liliiiiiiiiith! >sob!<"
Just being fair, the other guesses didn't fit for one reason or other but Hank makes sense
Ugh, Azrael was never an official Titan and never deserved to be one, so he doesn't count though he was picked up as a Titans ally.
Hint:
One of the 3 was a Titans Wester. The other 2 were part of the "main" team.
Thanks for the hints. They are helping even if I'm not getting any right.
Titans West - I thought Omen was in it. Gar was moaning in it. Flamebird played tennis in it with Grayson. Don was dead, we've done Hawk, Golden Eagle and Gnarrk. I can't think of anyone else... so I guess Lilith/Omen?
oh and does Mr Jupiter count?
Not Omen, who was one of the probe abductees. Mr Jupiter did not appear at all and does not count.
For the Titans West member, I did some digging earlier and found that this Titan was a member of a one-off incarnation. Enough for this member to specifically have been listed in story as a member though (and yet was only picked up when the probes looked for allies, go figure)
Mr Jupiter should have insisted on reliving his youth as an official Titan in exchange for funding. Like in football.
I seem to keep thinking about the Mal and Bumblebee with that team as well as Duela, but they were all in the mini...
Tim Drake? - I've no idea how many Robin's turned up in the Titans over the years. I'm sure Damian appeared later, so they weren't fussy
Oh! Deathstroke! Did he count as one of the team after the Titans Hunt thingy?
While I'm thinking about that, what about Raven's mother. Arella was it?
Just addressing your actual guesses (and I think we should limit to 3 guesses per post :p) Tim hadn't been a Titan yet, and neither had Deathstroke. I'm pretty sure Arella was dead by then and had also never been a Titan.

oh, you can always ignore my lines of babbling. No hang on. Then I'd not get a reply to
anything So that version didn't count as a team - that rules out Steve Dayton and my next guess, which was going to be ...Terry long (speaking of characters looking to relive their youth by hanging around with teens, but creepier in this case)
Cheezes. Who's left. Titan allies...
Magenta? She certainly helped the Titans v Brother Blood. That was in the last newsstand issue I got I think.
We are also assuming I can correctly guess which lines are the babbling
No to Terry Long who was never a Titan and then
No to Magenta, who for some reason has never been a full Titanshe did appear when the probes collected allies.
I think Chris King might have been one?
Chris King is indeed one! His bio in JLA/Titans lists him as a Titans West member. And his
Titans Tpwer entry says he was part of a one-off Titans West team:
Hawk & Dove Annual (second series) #1 [1990]: featured a brief reunion of Titans West. A mysterious note to Dawn Granger leads to Hawk and Dove teaming up with the old Titans West crew, with Hawk, Dove, Flamebird, Bumblebee, Mal, Golden Eagle and Chris “Dial H” King forming a rag-tag Titans West team. Flamebird suggested reforming the team, but no one was interested.
With two sources corroborating each other, I counted him as a regular Titan. However, he was only picked up when the probe started looking for Titans allies (despite the probe itself listing him as a Titans West member!). Maybe they couldn't find him earlier.
I amended the question to note that only 3 characters need to be guessed, but there are 4 answers I will accept. I also amended the hints to refer to the 2 remaining possible answers.
In JLA/Titans, when Cyborg's probes went out to collect all living former Titans, they missed three four (but only 3 need to be guessed).
Notes:
1) The "former Titans" status of one of the remaining characters is debatable.
2) All characters I'm thinking of appeared in-story.
3) I'm not counting characters who were officially "dead" at that time. Nor am I counting characters who were officially "unavailable". These are characters who were, for all intents and purposes, official Titans.
4) One of those was not picked up by a probe, but his/her absence was not totally explained; the other was picked up by the probes as a Titans ally but who could/should have been counted as an "official" Titan.
Guessed:
Hank Hall (was Extant at that time, but still fits the criteria)
Chris King (picked up during the search for Titans allies, but listed as a member of Titans West)
Not:
Dove (Dawn Granger)
Gnaark
Jason Todd
Supergirl
Golden Eagle
Protector
Jesse Quick
Thunder
Lightning
Azrael
Lilith/Omen
Tim Drake
Deathstroke
Arella
Terry Long
Magenta
Yes!!! Silver Age readers would know that Duela Dent was definitely an active member of the main Titans team. However, in JLA/Titans, she was only listed as a Titans ally. She was picked up along with Chris King and other Titans allies by the second wave of probes.
On the other hand, other Silver Age characters like Lilith, Bumblebee, Mal Duncan, Flamebird (formerly Bat-Girl) and the first Hawk and Dove had their Titans status retained. I'll have to check on Kole's status but I think her Titans membership was also enforced.
The third character I had in mind was Minion. He was listed as a full-fledged Titan, but was likely skipped over by the probes because he was in space. He appeared in one panel, seemingly floating unconscious (or maybe asleep?) and likely in space.
Long story short:
Over to you, Blacula, for guessing 2 of the 3 I was thinking of!
ugh, Chris King. I vaguely remember a Dial-H story in the Baxter series, but I think I only picked it up years later for pennies.
Thanks Blacula, I'd have been there forever trying to get that one.
Had it not been for JLA/Titans i may never have known that Chris King was a Titan.
I'd never have got minion either. It could have been worse JLA/ Titans could have been published after they let everyone join during the 1 year later thing.
Of course, about half of those one year later members ended up dead...
Minion was in my mind from the start but I discounted him because... wasn't the Omegadrome an important part of the finale to this series? I thought that it was what they contained Cyborg in?
Chris King's Titans membership was "blink and you'll miss it" but it was in one of the few 80s/90s comics to feature Mal Duncan so, of course, I didn't miss it.
Speaking of which:
The Hawk & Dove Annual which guest-starred Chris King (and the rest of Titans West) featured our heroes up against the spirits of 6 deceased DC villains. Who were they?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Yeah, the Omegadrome was Cyborg's new body. It was also (I think) what the probes were made of. They wrote around it by having Minion grant it as a gift to Cyborg before the story started!
Guessing six villains:
1) Killer Frost
2) Icicle

I don't know much about villains..
Psimon?
Dr. Polaris?

I think the Grim Ghost and the Black Pirate would be horrified at the aspersions being cast on their characters in this thread considering they're both heroes I believe.

I think the Grim Ghost and the Black Pirate ... they're both heroes I believe.
I was hoping Post Crisis Land might have switched it. A pirate who doesn't indulge in robbing people and a ghost who doesn't terrify? Bah!
- German guy with iron hand? gah! Keep thinking the wrong name for him. He's the one that comes to mind for War Comics.
- Film Freak for the Batman villain
- um The Grey Ghost. A Hex villain.
Adolf Hitler?
Captain Nazi?
Random guess because I don't know who the villains of these other heroes are.

I only know a couple of these. The Electrocutioner? He was in the inside back cover of Who's Who shooting at Spider-Chase from 2 feet away in a helicopter.

They are supposed to be enemies of Jonah Hex, Blacula.
Well you're on the right track then.
Yeah, but I've run out of track to run on. I can't think of any more enemies.
And EDE swoops in for the win!
The Hawk & Dove Annual which guest-starred Chris King (and the rest of Titans West) featured our heroes up against the spirits of 6 deceased DC villains. Who were they?
1. Clayface II
2. The Top
3. Electrocutioner
4. Icicle I
5. El Papagayo
6. Iron Major
Weird mix of characters.
I've never read any stories featuring El Papagayo but something about his Who's Who entry fostered a bit of a soft spot for him in me. Maybe it was the parrot on his shoulder? I was disappointed he never showed up in any of the Gray/Palmiotti Jonah Hex stories I read. Maybe he made an appearance after I dropped the title?
Now let's see what question EDE has in his hat for us.
Nice one EDE. I couldn't remember a western villain that survived an issue with Jonah Hex in it
Why did Harry Watkins, Dave Dent, and Freddy Garson send a statue to Kid Flash?
Sound like villains to me. Did they use the statue to take control of Kid Flash?
They wanted to use the statue to leech his powers?
They wanted to find out his secret ID, so places a transmitter into the statue?
Statue was possessed by a demon?
Nope.
Hint: the statue was of the see-no-evil, hear-no-evil, speak - no - evil monkeys.
The statue was a clue to a crime?
Because they had somehow placed their consciousnesses into the statue and then brought the monkeys to life to commit crimes?
Neither of those.
Hint: The statues represented the three of them.
To send a message from Gorilla City?
Nope.
Thoth has come closest so far.
They wanted Kid Flash to not hear, see or speak of any crimes the three committed?
The statues each had a different camera/transmitter/device?
Nope.
These were not criminals, but three young boys from the Sunfield Camp for Handicapped Children.
The statues represented their handicaps? And they wanted him to come cheer them up?
One couldn't hear, one couldn't see and the other couldn't speak?
The statue did represent their handicaps, but there's more to it than that.
Were they Kid Flash's Pete Ross stand ins? If the statue represents them (missed that post. duh) and they aren't villains is it a memento of their adventure with him where they know who he is?
Yeah, that's pretty much it.
The three had learned Kid Flash's secret identity by their enhanced voice recognition, lip reading, and handwriting recognition abilities, and sent him the statue to symbolize the fact that they would not reveal it.
...and sent him the statue to symbolize the fact that they would not reveal it.
...with a small note saying that the first payment could be placed under the main stand of Blue Valley High at noon
I think I would have liked to see them as the true villains behind Identity Crisis.
I can think of a couple of horror themed comics off the back of Hear, Speak and See no evil...
New Q sooon!
See, I was thinking that I was surprised there isn't a team of all-handicapped super-heroes.
Superman's leaky tear ducts?
Or when his Super hearing doesn't pick up the cries of oppressed multitudes across the globe?
Batman's self absorbed, obsessive mental health condition?
Karate Kid being living impaired a lot?
The Sportsmaster's golf handicap?
Calamity King's Handy Cap?
The closest thing to a disabled team would be the Doom Patrol, although why you'd want to have that kind of focus is a mystery. You'll be having mutants wanting interaction, yet all living in the same building next. Oh, wait...
Niles Caulder is the user of a bloomin' great battlechair
Cliff Steele can move his brain between a number of metal bodies.
Larry Trainor's bandages keep in the radiation of the energy being that he can release with his consciousness.
Elasti-Girl's mental health issues don't stop her being a great super heroine (in the times she's alive)
Beast Boy's metamorphic powers help him deal with his condition to spout lame one liners.
Both All-Star Comics and the JLA had issues in which the heroes, while doing some sort of special charity work for the disabled, ended up disabled themselves for the entire story.
I could easily see this being one of the those 70s/80s attempts at inclusiveness that would now seem horribly offensive in retrospect!
"I was disabled, but I got better because I'm all special and good and noble!"
Slight delay as I'm away from my comics...
..and it's a pain finding a Titans question...onto third random issue...
In Teen Titans: Year One what brings the group together for the second time after they have beaten Mr Twister?
... Psst ... I get all my questions from Google...
Is it something to do with their mentors getting replaced or brainwashed or something?
I think that's about it. I only peeked at the first issue where Bruce Wayne punches Grayson and is clearly mind controlled. the next issue blurb suggests that the mentors have been taken over.
If there was a comic that would make you call social services to get teen sidekicks taken away from their mentors' this is it (well, outside Bratpack)
Over to you Blacula...
I never know quite what to put into google for Titan's Questions. "Teen Titans Quiz questions" might be a good start, of course
Fun Fact: That issue is a remake of / homage to this one:
http://www.comics.org/issue/31944/cover/4/... which was the first ever telling of the Teen Titans' origin (weird that we've never seen many flashbacks to that team's origin, unlike say, the million-and-one times we've seen Rokk, Imra and Garth save RJ Brande).
Question that won't take long to get:
Taking into account a famous ret-con, who was the first non-founding member of the Teen Titans?
You'd really think I'd remember having the issue where they beat up their grown up counterparts. You'd think I'd remember a border like that even more. But nope. I'll need to check it out.
The one retcon I'm aware of made Wonder Girl a distinct character and not Wonder Woman as a teen in imaginary stories with herself and Wonder Tot*?
As it was just the three (Robin, Aqualad and Kid Flash)in the first Brave & Bold outing, I'll go with Wonder Girl.
*Wonder Tot, Cheeks the Toy Wonder, Super Baby, Sugar and Spike will be starring in Justice League Foetus this fall from DCNu!
It was sort of a trick question because there were 3 possible answers - Lilith, Hawk and Dove.
They all joined in Teen Titans #25 and were the first new Titans since Speedy had joined in Teen Titans #19, an event that was ret-conned (in the original issue to which TL's question referred) into make him a founding member and thereby turn the Fab 4 into the Fab 5.
Over to you IB.
Yeah, I knew that historically Roy wasn't really a founder, but your mention of the retcon meant it should not be him.
Okay, question, question...
Which two Titans grew up in virtual reality? (there may be more, but I'm thinking of two specific Titans who shared a scene in JLA/Titans).
Impulse/ Bart Allen and Risk?
Prism and Impulse.
Interesting connection. I'd never noticed that before.
Blacula sounds pretty sure. But on the off chance, I'll add Joto to Bart.
At least I got the right Titans group
Blacula is sure AND correct!
Over to Blacula.
I'm randomly guessing Warp. I have no idea.
And Future lives up to his name by coming back from there to answer the question correctly!
It was going to be:
Which Titans villain speaks in a bad French accent?
Over to you Future!
I'm going to bring Future with me to the nearest casino!
Ha. I feel like my Internet browser is messing up the post order, as I must have been responding to the wrong question.
I mean. Seeing the future.
After verifying with Blacula, I'll post the next question:
Roy's Post-Zero Hour team of Titans was doomed, doomed, doomed. Name four members of that team who were since murdered.
Terra II, Bart Allen (got better), Damage, Donna Troy (but she got better), Kyle Rayner (very briefly, but he got better).
Roy lost an arm too, and Rose Wilson lost an eye...
Ooh, you got Kyle too! I was going to ask for five, but thought counting his one issue death in GLC was too specific.
Five deaths, two maimings, Minion depowered, and then Matrix Supergirl's whole confusing snafu. Not a team that you'd be able to really get back together even if the pre52 DCU was still published.
Back to you, Ibby!
Until you asked this question, I hadn't realized just how unlucky Roy's team in particular was!
Matrix Supergirl - I thought she died too, but I think she got a sort of happy ending.
Minion wasn't looking too good in that one panel of his in JLA/Titans, where he was kinda floating in space.
Ok, question, question...
I asked this before, but my head hurts and I can't think well.
Which DC hero thought Kole was cute and ended up leering at her?
Correct. Over to you thoth
After Zero Hour Mirage and Terra were still mysteriously still around after their fellow Team Titans vanished. Who claimed to have been responsible for their survival?
It was the Time Trapper. Over to you Ibby!
I remember reading about the Time Trapper sending a globe thingie and telling Mirage and Terra they were his agents or something...
Um, okay, let's see...
Duela Dent once claimed she was which Titan's daughter?
Correct!
Although, I'm not sure if she meant the villain Wildebeest or the Titan Baby Wildebeest. But in any case, you got it. Over to you Future.
I always liked to pretend it was the actual Titan, mostly because that highlights how kooky Duela really was. Plus, if I recall, it got a reaction from Pantha in the background?
Name five Titans who have belonged to two or more teams that DIDN'T have "Titan" in the title.
It did get a reaction from Pantha, which is why I always assumed it was Baby Wildebeest. And that made it all the more fun because Baby was an infant.
Hmm...
1) Donna Troy - Justice League, Darkstars (does that count?)
2) Kyle Rayner - Justice League, GL Corps (does that count?)
3) Jesse Quick - JLA, JSA
4) Starfire - REBELS, JLA
5) Ray Palmer - JLA, and I think he was with the Suicide Squad briefly
The Atom in Suicide Squad wasn't actually Ray Palmer, but Adam Cray. Ray was a member of a second team, but what is it...?
I do count the Darkstars and GLC. The other four are correct! There are a few other Titans I can think of that could fill the last spot as well, if Atom can't be guessed.
Ray Palmer as member of JLA and the Indigo Tribe?
Damage: JSA, Freedom Fighters
Nightwing: JLA, Spiral (I think? Don't follow DCFU.)
Mal Duncan: Young Justice, Doom Patrol
Bumblebee: Young Justice, Doom Patrol
Superboy: Young Justice, LoSH (Did he ever become a full member? Cant remember.)
Superboy was confirmed as an Honorary member, but not an active one.
Counting the Indigo Tribe for Ray Palmer works for me. He was also part of SHADE in the New 52, if you're into that kind of thing.
Blacula's answers also work, though Mal and Karen were really only members of YJ in the animated series if I'm not mistaken?
Nightwing was also a member of Outsiders, so he's correct. Roy Harper also works, as a member of the JLA, Outsiders, and the New 52 Outlaws with Starfire.
IB got them first, so I'll give them to him.
These guys certainly got around!
Who did Flamebird kick in JLA/Titans?
Yup! I wonder if Flamebird kicked Huntress harder cause of Huntress' crack, "heard from Nightwing lately?"
Over to you Blacula
That was a lucky guess.
OK. When Hawk was revealed to be Monarch in Armageddon 2001, (at least) two Titans were there to witness the unveiling.
One of them said "Hank Hall?!? Waverider was right! He is one of us!"
And the other replied "He was really one of us [name of Titan]! He was a Titan! A friend!"
Who were they?
Do we have to guess who said each quote in order?
Guessing (in order):
Red Star
Nightwing
No you don't.
And no to both of them.
Hmm...
Dove (Dawn Granger) and Donna Troy?
And no to both of them as well.
Yikes, who were Titans then...
Wally and Arsenal?
Flash and Speedy it was!
Speedy's appearance was really weird because he was a fairly minor character at the time and hadn't appeared at all during the rest of the series, yet here he was popping up just as the villain was revealed.
I was sure he was about to be cannon-foddered and read the rest of the issue with great trepidation , but fortunately he survived.
Over to you IB.
Cool, thanks Blacula. I enjoyed the Justice League tie ins to Armaggedon, the possible futures were funny. I think I would have enjoyed seeing the Titans' futures too. If I remember right this would have been towards the end of the Wolfman/Perez classic lineup? Glad Roy was saved
he is not my fave character but I think he is one of yours, and I appreciated how he was written during the Arsenal's Titans incarnation and the post-JLA/Titans incarnation. I disliked what they did with him as Red Arrow though! He was is whiny with Hawkgirl, and quit the League because he was jealous of Hawkman. What the?
Sorry, rambling. New Q soon
In the awful, awful Titans/Legion Universe Ablaze story, which Legionnaire did Argent get trapped underwater with?
Roy did indeed used to be one of my favourite characters, and certainly was around the time of Armageddon 2001 but, ironically, I think I stopped liking him around the time you started liking him IB. haha
I never liked his Arsenal identity or *any* of the horrible costumes he wore in that role and thought that DC just turned him into a sort of annoying one-note character from about 2000 onwards.
I was initially excited by the Red Arrow change and thought there was potential there, but, par for the course from DC during that period, it was all just thoroughly mishandled. The less said about that horrendous Whine For Justice and all the terrible events that spun from that the better.
Re: this question -
Cosmic Boy?
Well, i do think he became less interesting when he was leading his own Titans team. I kliked him best when he was kind of flirty but not to the point of being a sex crazed himbo.
And you are right, it was Cos! Back to you Blacula
Ack! Me again.
OK -
"Starfire" was Marv Wolfman's second choice as a name for our favourite alien princess.
What celestial-sounding name did he almost call her before thinking that it had been taken?
Though Leonid and Kori have a "history" in relation to their shared use of the name "Starfire", there was never a time that Kori was nearly also called Red Star.
Kori almost got this name until Marv Wolfman thought another new character at another company was going to be named it. That character actually ended up being called something else (and went on to becoming very successful and a featured character in several movies) but by that point Wolfman had settled on Starfire.
Featured character in several movies... Hmmm....
Marvel comics comes to mind, but I'm thinking of one who was created after Kory....
Rogue?
Hm. I'm assuming the codename in question never actually got used, or at least never got to the celebrity that Starfire and this other heroine did.
Angeldust?
Oh, I misread Blacula's explanation. I think Future understood it correctly.
Not Rogue or Angeldust.
Future has the right idea.
This name was also used by Shakespeare for a character in one of his plays and by Disney for a character in one of their films.
Ariel it is! Which, as some people may or may not know, was going to be Kitty Pryde's name before Sprite.
Over to you IB.
Nifty. Sprite did become Ariel eventually, but not for long. Wonder if that was chance or after the story first leaked?
I remember reading about the Ariel codename a long, long time ago.
Kitty sure has been through a lot of weird code names...
According to Supergirl (Matrix), in JLA/Titans, Bumblebee was attacking someone a bit above her power class. Who was that someone?
Yup! Bumblebee attacked Zauriel with her sonics, only to get blasted by fire.
Still feel that Supergirl was being a bit too dismissive though.
Over to you.
I was about to say... I could see how that pairing would do well against each other in a match. Zauriel would probably always win due to that heavenly advantage (or, you know, being active in a book at the time).
Who catcalled Robin to "Take it off. Take it all off."?
Terra it was! Over to you, Andy.
Nice going, Andy. Good to have you back!
Good to be back! Thanks, folks
Okay, which Titan was unfortunately named a derogative term for a gay man?
Joto it is! In Spanish, it's basically f**
When I first read the comic, I was shocked.
Over to you!
Oh yeah, I read that's why they changed his heat. Too bad; it was Swahili for "heat" too right?
Yeah it is. But since Spanish is way more common in the US than Swahili, I wondered why no one caught it
I always knew there was a reason I never gravitated toward the character! Though that isn't why, I do recall the name change in the 90s due to translation taboos.
Which two Teen Titans were captured by Two-Face, after he simultaneously struck Gotham and New York City with identical burglaries?
Yeah it is. But since Spanish is way more common in the US than Swahili, I wondered why no one caught it
It does seem like a very glaring mistake. Oh well, they fixed it. A bit late, but at least they fixed it.
Wish they had changed it to another Swahili word though. Maybe they were afraid it would translate into something else...
Okay
What was Troia supposed to be named?
Totally agree. Maybe google translate wasn't working for them?
Maybe they just didn't think of checking it in Spanish. Maybe they just tried English. And they decided, sprock it, I don't want to try every language in Google translate
which is kind of lazy too, I mean how often do you have to think of a character's code name...
It is a shame that the name 'Joto' didn't work out because I always like it (not knowing a word of Spanish). And I vastly preferred it to the horrendous Slagger, which just brought to mind someone spitting, to me.
At least he found a new lease of life as Hotspot.
Re: this question - I know the name 'Avatar' was floated around as a potential for Donna Troy at one point but I'm not sure if it was as an alternative to 'Troia' or if it was much later. It ended up being used by the lame villain in that L.A.W. series as I recall.
Hotspot as a code name is at least as good as Joto. I also liked the Joto name as it added a touch of exoticism. And both Joto and Hotspot were way more descriptive of his powers than Slagger was.
Troia... always seemed like a pointless code name, to me. It doesn't really say anything about Donna's powers or identity. Just having her use "Donna Troy" would have been better.
Okay
What was Troia supposed to be named?
Hmm...
Dark Angel?
Re: this question - I know the name 'Avatar' was floated around as a potential for Donna Troy at one point but I'm not sure if it was as an alternative to 'Troia' or if it was much later. It ended up being used by the lame villain in that L.A.W. series as I recall.
You got it! Devin Grayson had written the script with Avatar but it got pulled because of the LAW series. Devin said it in a DCU chatroom back in the day.
Over to you, Blacula!
It's a shame "Avatar" didn't work out for Donna Troy because I think it would have been great for her. Like IB, I was never a fan of "Troia" but I hate even more the boring "Donna Troy". Down with unimaginative real-name code-names!
Q:
Don't ask me where they come from because I'm just getting these from this character's Comic Vine entry, but which Titan has at various times also been known as "Guardian Spirit of Jade", "Sprout", "Nou Yu T'u" and "Suckled by a Tigress"?
Um, that's just weird. And a version of the Titans I wouldn't buy.
That being said, I'm guessing Arsenal
I think they were probably used in different Elseworlds stories but still, weird choices.
And IB, has it. It was Beast Boy/Changeling.
Over to you Brainiac, Invisible.
Guardian Spirit of Jade and Sprout make sense I guess because of his green color. Suckled by a Tigress, eh.
Okay let's see...
Which 6 dead Titans did Brother Blood "resurrect" to attack the Titans?
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Dove
Kole
Aquagirl
?
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Dove
Aquagirl
Donna Troy
Terra
Hawk
Dove
Aquagirl
Kole
Gnarrk
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Dove
Kole
Golden Eagle?
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Kole
Aquagirl
Jericho
At this point you have guessed all but one of the 6 correct answers.
Now just trying to figure out who the original wrong one was. Also, when this happened as so many people get resurrected or die later in continuity.
Terra
Omen
Dove
Kole
Aquagirl
Phantasm
Terra
Omen
Dove
Kole
Aquagirl
Pantha?
Terra
Hawk
Dove
Kole
Aquagirl
Phantasm
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Kole
Aquagirl
Phantasm
Terra
Omen
Hawk
Dove
Kole
Phantasm
Omen
Hawk
Dove
Kole
Aquagirl
Phantasm
And that's it! Omen was resurrected as his now Mother Mayhem I think, the other 5 were part of his undead army. As a Kole fan I was interested in getting this issue, though I don't know if she was able to retain her personality.
I knew Kole was in it guaranteed, as an IB question.
Which Titan was immune to Psimon's powers and probes?
One of these days I'll surprise all of you by asking something that does not involve Kinetix, Kole or Kimiyo
Immune to Psimon? Hmm.... Minion?
Minion isn't who I was thinking of, but upon a re-read he was able to deflect Psimon's blasts so I suppose that counts.
Does this mean I get the next Q, or should I keep guessing?
Guessing... Terra II?
Next one is yours, IB.
I was thinking of Mirage, which started her whole plotline of gaining psychic powers. Minion came in later that story and was also able to repel Psimon's attacks. That new character shine.
Mirage would have been my next guess after Terra, I vaguely remembered this whole Psimon hullabaloo from that incarnation of the team.
Okay, let's see...
When Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) encountered the Teen Titans at a rocket launch, which 5 members were there?
Red Robin
Wonder Girl
Kid Devil
Ravager
Miss Martian
Oh, I miscounted. There were actually 6 of them... but you got 5 correct.
Supergirl was the 6th.
Talk about girl power. Kara, Cassie, Megan and Rose!
Over to you Future.
Kara would have been my next guess. I think by then Cyborg and Jericho were gone. I can't recall.
Name four Titans who also served in the Outsiders.
Cyborg and Jericho were way gone then, but Beast Boy and Raven had not rejoined yet.
Starfire
Terra II
Dick
Roy
Those four work. A fifth would have been Captain Marvel Jr.
Back to you.
Thanks. Hmmm, let's see....
Rose Wilson got in a little over her head when she challenged which Justice Leaguer?
Barda it is! This was in JLA/Titans. Omen helped Rose by teleporting Barda away.
Over to you Andy.
Okay, what was Red Star's fiance's name?
I think it started with an "I"... Irina?
Nope
Her name ended in an I
Oh, I knew there was an I in there somewhere...
Mindi?
nope
It wasn't a typical name
Her name was a hint as to her role in the story
She was a disease carrier...
Maladi?
Thanks Andy!
Ok let's see...
Which dead Titan was definitely NOT resurrected during Blackest Night?
Yup!
A black lantern ring tried to get at him, but it was repelled. And it kept going, "Don Hall at peace".
Over to you Future!
That scene made me happy. Nice nod to Don's character.
Name four Titans who were killed in Blackest Night. Yes, this is a smidge of a trick question.
Hm.
Holly Granger
Damage
Tempest
and Superboy was turned back into a Black Lantern.
Poor Titans. Still with such a high mortality rate... But the JSA only lost... Damage himself! JLA lost nobody new and even had a number resurrected!
You got it. The resurrected characters being "killed again" to become Black Lanterns was the swerve I wanted to throw in. Donna and Bart also qualified, but of course got better with Conner.
The resurrected Titan numbers were minimal in that story of course. We basically swapped Hawks and got Osiris of all people back.
Your mention of a trick question made me think of Conner, Bart and Donna
Damage played a fairly major role in the JSA tie-in, but poor Tempest didn't do much else besides die.
As usual, the Titans lost the most characters. Former Titans yes, but still Titans. On the other hand, JSA only lost Damage; everyone JLA lost was resurrected again in the end (Hawkman and Hawkgirl). Bah!
Okay let's see...
What was the real business of Argent's dad?
Not quite. He may have been but I'm looking for something more specific.
Was he dealing that drug that gave everyone super-speed?
You got it! Over to you Blacula
I count 18 Titans who have fit the definition of "side-kick" at some point in their careers, although a couple might be a bit debateable. Please name them.
Wow. 18, huh?
1) Dick Grayson
2) Tim Drake
3) Jason Todd
4) Talon
5) Donna Troy
6) Cassie Sandsmark
7) Kid Devil
8) Superboy
9) Bart Allen
10) Roy Harper
11) Tempest
12) Aquagirl (Lorena)
13) Bette Kane
14) Gar Logan
15) Rose Wilson
16) Supergirl
17) Freddy Freeman
18) Osiris
01. Nightwing
02. Arsenal
03. Tempest
04. Flash (Wally)
05. Donna Troy
06. Beast Boy
07. Superboy
08. Red Robin
09. Robin (Damian)
10. Speedy (Mia)
11. Wonder Girl (Cassie)
12. Kid Flash (Bart)
13. Kid Devil
14. Ravager
15. Captain Marvel, Jr.
16. Offspring
17. Flamebird
18. Terra I (kind of Deathstroke's sidekick, even if she'd claim to be his partner?)
I foolishly left Bette and Rose off my original list so that's two you've added IB.
I also hadn't originally included Kara but since I had included Kon, I guess she fits the bill just as well as he does.
I don't know if I'd consider Gar acceptable though. He was a teammate and adopted child of Mento and Elasti-Girl, rather than their "side-kick".
So 1 spot left and I can think of 3 characters who could fill it:
1) Dick Grayson
2) Tim Drake
3) Jason Todd
4) Talon
5) Donna Troy
6) Cassie Sandsmark
7) Kid Devil
8) Superboy
9) Bart Allen
10) Roy Harper
11) Tempest
12) Aquagirl (Lorena)
13) Bette Kane
14)
15) Rose Wilson
16) Supergirl
17) Freddy Freeman
18) Osiris
Whoops. Future posted while I was thinking about IB's answer. And he's got 2 of the 3 I was thinking of - Wally and Mia - and added another I'd forgotten - Damien (if he was a Titan? I've forgotten when that membership occurred).
I'm not sure I'd count Offspring though. Did he ever have any adventures with Plastic Man?
The other one I was thinking of was Golden Eagle, who didn't really ever appear with Hawkman pre-Crisis but I think got ret-conned into his history in the Gray/Palmiotti run.
Over to you Future.
Ugh. Wally is such an obvious answer, can't believe I missed him
Offspring is admittedly a guess. I recall seeing Plas doting on him but not sure if they ever adventured on-panel together. Damien was a guess as well - I know he hung out with them for awhile, but not sure if that count as a membership. He was definitely a sidekick though, so thought I'd hedge my bets.
Which Titan was killed by the Persuader?
The Titans faced the Persuader?
Errr... Cyborg?
I feel like I might have read about this while I was trying to come up with a question for this thread once.
Was it... Molecule? And was it by the female Persuader in that Terror Titans mini?
Correct on both guesses, Blacula!
For some reason they really wanted Persuader as a past or legacy villain to stick. After Postboot Persuader was stranded in the 21st century and then quickly killed off, almost immediately this young female Persuader debuted in Terror Titans. She killed one-off Titan Molecule.
And then didn't she also get killed off somewhere or other? That whole period in Titans history left a sour taste in my mouth. It seemed like a Titans character was getting killed off every month or so. Such vision-less storytelling.
Anyway...
Which Titan's face did George Perez base on an old girlfriend?

The Titan does not necessarily have to be female, methinks.

Future has it! It was Aqualad.
Here's the quote from the Perezinator himself:
"Speedy and Aqualad? Nicest guest stars. I like Aqualad because of the limitation of his powers. He’s nice. Nice visual. But now that Robin’s wearing his Nightwing costume, he’s the only one that’s showing his bare legs. Again, a nice little sexiness about him. I always like that kinky hair, and I deliberately gave him a more Italian looking face. Actually, I based it on a girl’s face. I dated a girl, she had very strong features, and I matched them, made them a little more masculine and made Aqualad out of her.”Over to you, indefinite period of time that occurs later than now.
Which Titan was rejected for membership at an audition, even though they had been a member before (and would be again, just in a different iteration)?
Not Bart, nor Captain Marvel Jr.
Not Rose (at least in the story I'm thinking of).
Which Titan was rejected for membership at an audition, even though they had been a member before (and would be again, just in a different iteration)?
Already Guessed:
Bart Allen (present, but was withdrawn by Max Mercury)
Captain Marvel Jr (present, but it was before he was a member)
Duela Dent (absent)
Rose Wilson (absent)
Yep! Damage was rejected, while Captain Marvel Jr. was accepted. This was with Atom's team of Titans.
Rejected for having uncontrollable powers I assume? or maybe because he was still in trouble with the authorities?
Let's see...
Speaking of Damage, let's talk about the women in his life.
What was the name of Damage's classmate, who was murdered by Splatter?
I don't recall the dialogue. I assume it was for one of the above reasons, though a battle did break out in the auditions and maybe they glossed over it when they announced their new members.
A battle WOULD have been a more "diplomatic" way for the writers to reject Damage. I remember in the Morrison-Watchtower League, Damage tried out in issue 5 I think. He was rejected for blowing up part of the Watchtower.
I have never read Damage outside of the Titans, so I will make up a guess just to bump this up:
Lisa Manning
P.S. Sounds like a women in refrigerator moment
Yeah it kind of is.
Not correct. Clue, her name starts with M.
Nope.
Clue 1: Her name starts with M.
Clue 2: Her name is 6 letters long.
Clue 3: The first 3 letters mean a male human.
Nope, but you have the first four letters right and her name also ends in a vowel
Nope, but now you have 5/6 letters right.
Nope, also 5/6 letters right.
yes! Mandra is correct! I could see you guys hadn't read Damage so was being more generous with hints.
Over to you Andy.
Hmmm... Two-Face attacks the Titans with three sets of twins. Which are their power sets? (If you can name them, I'd be impressed)
Do each set of twins have the same powers? Hmm.
Pyrokinesis
Hydrokinesis
Lightning generation
You're almost right
I can't give the names cuz then you'd figure it out
Two-Face uses these twins to confuse the Titans, and it's based on their power sets
Hmmm...
Do the twins have opposite powers?
Fire and ice generation
Lightning and thunder generation
Um... Earth and wind control?
Hydrokinesis/Pyrokinesis
Light/Shadow Generation
Size-Shifting (up/down)
Future has it!
The twins are named:
Flamesplasher
Darklight
Sizematic
I have heard of the Sizematic twins before interesting.
Which Titan was off limits to the show producers when developing the Young Justice TV show?
Hm. Donna Troy was likely off the table as well, but wasn't the character they were looking to use.
Neither Kid Flash. Wally was part of the opening cast. Bart joined the next season.
Ah, Young Justice. *slaps self*
Cassie Sandsmark?
Correct! Cassie (and I assume Donna as well) was off limits the first year of the show due to licensing rights. Cassie was who they wanted though. When they lapsed near the end of the first season, she was added to the cast the next year.
Cassie makes sense considering Superboy also made the cut.
Let's see...
What is the name of Bunker's boyfriend?
Never followed this version of the Titans, so I'm guessing here...
Greg?
Nope, but you are close. The name starts with the letter G
Yup. Over to you again Future.
Which Titan had an affair with a family member's fiancé?
I will think of a new Q by tomorrow. I am also holding up Legion and non-Legion trivia!
What is the name of Kole's mom?
I found this amusing
thanks guys.
Mrs Weathers is of course correct but am looking for her first name.
Mrs Bug would technically be correct after what happened to her.
Not Diamonda, her name does not have to do with crystals or diamonds.
Not Thia, who was Lilith's mom until Crisis came along.
No, Ambush Bug didn't get a sex change or anything.
Her name starts with an M.
Nope. You both have the first 3 letters correct though.
Nope. You now have the first 4 letters correct.
Keep going. It's a bit longer than that.
No.
The correct answer is 7 letters long. It is also the name of at least 2 famous people I know who have an alliterative name (their surnames also start with M)
You got it! Over to you Blacula.
Please name the 12 public mourners at Jericho's funeral at the end of Titans Hunt, and the 13th mourner who privately paid their respects after the others had left.
I'll admit this is largely guesswork.
01. Nightwing
02. Cyborg
03. Changeling
04. Starfire
05. Raven
06. Phantasm
07. Pantha
08. Red Star
09. Wildebeast
10. Speedy
11. Aqualad
12. Troia
13. Deathstroke
Oh, I was just rereading Titans Hunt a couple weeks ago!
1. Dick Grayson
2. Donna Troy
3. Terry Long
4. Gar Logan
5. Mal Duncan
6. Karen Beecher
7. Wally West
8. Frances Kane
9. Steve Dayton
10. Red Star
11. Pantha
12. Starfire
13. Deathstroke
Also guessing...
01. Nightwing
02. Cyborg
03. Changeling
04. Starfire
05. Raven
06. Danny Chase
07. Pantha
08. Red Star
09. Baby Wildebeest
10. Wally West
11. Frances Kane
12. Donna Troy
13. Deathstroke
Andy has it.
Although I think there is some ambiguity regarding the identity of the character you have taken to be Wally West, Andy.
It certainly looks like Wally, and he is sharing a panel with Frances Kane (and seems to be looking at her, implying a connection between the two) but, given the circumstances, I think it is more likely that the character in question is the similar-looking Chris King.
Unlike Chris (and the rest of the mourners), Wally didn't appear in Titans Hunt, and while it wouldn't be weird for him to show up to a former teammates' funeral, I think it would be weird from a narrative standpoint to leave Chris out of the gathering, since that would make him the only one of the Wildebeest Society's captives not in attendance.
But it's a bit vague so I would have accepted either character.
Over to you, Andy.
Oh, wow. It never occurred to me it was Chris King! And I just read the damn storyline again (and boy, for such a strong start, that thing went LEFT so damn fast, IMO).
Let's stay on it.
Name the 4 Titans who have taken on the mantle of Wildebeest
That many? Yikes!
Rose Wilson
Jericho
Baby Wildebeast
Um... Dick Grayson?
3 of 4 correct!
Jericho
Baby Wildebeest
Dick Grayson
^ Yep. Titans Hunt is a story with some fantastic opening few issues, some really pretty good closing few issues, and a saggy middle weighed down by those annoying, momentum-killing Team Titans characters. If they had taken everything to do with them out of the book, it would have been a much stronger story IMO.
When it was popping it was one of the most exciting Titans storylines I've ever read though.
Getting the ball rolling with your question:
Cyborg (brainwashed)
Nightwing (in disguise)
Jericho (leader)
Duh! How could I have forgotten Baby Wildebeest?!
Still dont understand why the need to shoehorn the Team Titans in myself. Plugging them, but not necessary for a good story...
Just in case Cyborg is not right, maybe Red Star?
Blacula has it! I thought the Cyborg thing would keep people guessing for awhile.
Over to you
^ The Cyborg as Wildebeest issue was one of the first issues of NTT I ever read.
---
Who unleashed 4 of the 10 avatars of Vishnu?
Dr Light in a Hawkman crossover?
Thoth Lad has it!
It was Dr Light in the issue of NTT guest-starring Hawkman.
Over to you TL.
I seem to remember this issue and the ones around it as being a little on the dull side, in comparison with a lot of the other Wolfman/Perez issues.
New Question as soon as I dig out the issues.
In a Titans/ Outsiders team up, Shimmer of the Fatal Fearsome Five restrained prison guards by what method?
Transmuted them into something?
Myg is closer. They were effectively covered in something, but it wasn't steel.
Not tar, but the consistency isn't far off.
Syrup is closer still and in the right area. But this is a bit thicker. Not gaseous or liquid nitrogen. I don't think this killed the guards.
Neither of those. Syrup was closest because of it being edible.
Nearly...I'm even going to settle for the course you'd find this in.
Yay! It was pudding. Tapioca to be exact. Over to you Ibby!
Cool! At least the guards had a tasty time.
New Q up soon
In the Team Titans series there was a bunch of heroes who each represented a color. Or they were colors or something like that.
What were they called, collectively?
SPECTRUM
Got it in one! Over to you thothy!
No really?! I just said that because of my Captain Scarlet thread
Oh heck, I'll need a question now...
That'll teach you to make funny, tongue-in-cheek guesses which turn out to be correct!
You can be frivolous for only so long before the burden of responsibility catches up with you one more.
It's a bit late to be digging through comics, so I'll go with the traditional new question soooooooon!
Uh Oh! The Titans are having trouble rescuing a small boy form a nasty group of occultish Moonlings. They also have trouble leaving the area where the boy is being harassed. How do the Titans solve the problem?
pretend one of them is a deity instead of the boy?
Proved the boy is nothing special?
Lilith performed an exorcism on him?
Blacula is going down the right sort of path, although the outcome was different.
Nopes to Ibbs and Myg
Did they telepathically "enlighten" the cult?
Nopes. The final action wasn't something that the Titans did.
They got the boy, who has super powers, to get them out of there?
They got the boy all right...and the boy did have powers... but the boy didn't get them out of there.
One of the cult members fell in love with Robin and helped them escape?
Nope, the Moonlings were tentacle critters and Robin didn't fall for any of them, preferring tentacles of Tamaranian hair later on.
Nope, it's just the child, the grandfather and the old house... and the Moonlings when they turn up to torment them.
Grandpa made the old house collapse?
Grandpa doesn't destroy the house...
but... he does go outside and shoot the kid.
The boy turns out to be a changeling. The real grandson had died years before and his mother had covered it up. The Titans immediately seems to agree that the child can't be allowed to live. Very heroic of them.
It's a story they remind the later Changeling, Gar Logan, about a lot when he's being particularly annoying.
Over to you Myg-Andy S!
Wow. Wonder how many kids had nightmares cause of that.
Grandpa it's really me honest!
Yeah - that was the story that broke up the Titans that time around
New question coming up in a bit
I hadn't realised that was the last issue for a few years before the numbering picked up again in '76.
Okay, Aqualad once fought against the Teen Titans for his girlfriend.
Who was the girlfriend's criminal father?
Is that Nirka's dad? Some kilted eejit haunting a loch?
Is that Nirka's dad? Some kilted eejit haunting a loch?
It IS Nirka's dad!
What is his name?
Something else else Scottish from memory. Bruce?
Something else else Scottish from memory. Bruce?
I was looking for his evil sorcerer name
Oddly close to Ibby's guess
Blackbriar Thorn? I have no idea.
Not Blackbriar Thorn, Black Angus or Black Eel (but so close)
I didn't think I could even guess, but seeing "Black Eel" reminded me. Was it Black Moray?
I didn't think I could even guess, but seeing "Black Eel" reminded me. Was it Black Moray?
You got it, Thoth!
Yay, with a big assist from KryptonKid!
New question in a bit...
Doctor Damalis has a plan to turn super heroes into mind controlled agents. But Thunder's mental link to his brother Lightning, allows them to escape. Which former Titan/Titan Ally does she send to kill them?
No, this character predates Wildebeest.
Wally's one-time girlfriend, Magenta?
It was indeed Frances Kane in this two parter in Teen Titans Spotlight.
The first issue spotlighted Thunder and Lightning and the second Magenta, but it was a really a two part story. I quite liked giving each their moment in cover glory.
The letters page says that they came up with Magenta as they were trying to think of an alternative to putting Frances Kane on the cover.
The first part was drawn by Chuck Patton, who has also done some really nice work on the Justice League of America.
Well Done KryptonKid! Over to you!
In his first appearance, Starfire (Leonid Konstantinovitch Kovar) received a decidedly undiplomatic welcome from which Titan?
Not Robin.
Kid Flash was described as "a midwestern conservative" (IIRC), and he hated the Soviet Union, and was not a very good cultural ambassador. What galled me at the time was that Wally was assuming that Starfire shared his government's political philosophy. I was aware at the time that only 8% of Soviet citizens belonged to the Communist Party, but I hadn't realized that the propaganda of the Party permeated every aspect of their society. I was young and naive, I guess. sigh
On to you, IB.
I feel you KK, it is sad when propaganda brainwashes societies although it is sad too if someone assumes all people in a group buy into the same philosophy.
I will give a new Q soon!
Sorry for the delay...
According to Gar Logan, what form did people often ask him to take for fun?
When the New Teen Titans come together for the first time, who is the last member to "join" the group in the first issue?
Neither Cyborg or Changeling. They were both present already when the final member was rescued.
Was it Starfire, because the others fought the aliens that had captured her?
Thoth has it! Starfire was technically the last to meet and join the group, due to her capture.
I was going to go for Cyborg, but Myg had already guessed that.
New Question...sooon...
Which hobby of Joseph Wilson allowed the Teen Titans to find his base, when he was possessed?
I don't suppose it would be taxidermy or wildebeest racing...
Painting?
Playing musical instruments?
Ibby has it with Wildebeest rac...no., I mean Painting.
The Titans find a selection of paintings, all of buildings, all painted from one perspective; Looking down form a taller building. They traced the location of that, and found a gateway to Azarath that was also doubling as the Wildebeest lair.
Why he left all those paintings lying around I don't recall.
Oe'r to ye Ibby!
Coolness!
Why did he leave those paintings lying around, I have no idea.
New Q up soon!
Kole helped which Titan resolve a romantic misunderstanding?
Nope.
Clue - this was not during Kole's first tenure with the Titans
She had more than one tenure? Crumbs, I'm forgetting things...
I recall her coming back as a result of Kid Eternity's powers. Well, back for an hour or so. SO, I'll go with Kid Devil
She had more than one tenure? Crumbs, I'm forgetting things...
LOL I was thinking the same thing!
Not Kid Devil!
Big clue - this wasn't your "true" Titans team
Not Lilith.
This Titan was male
Rats. I 've never seen the cartoon Titans.
Not Gnaark.
It was not in the toon.
It was in a diff Titans team in the comics.
Back in the Game! ....um....stuck....
Risk?
Not Risk or Speedy.
Recap soon
Kole (or at least a construct by Monarch that was meant to look like her) was in a few issues of Team Titans but I can't remember what on earth she did in there.
I think Kilowatt might have had a crush on someone at one point in that comic so I'll say him.
Don Hall in a Zombie Titans Romance issue of Blackest Night?
No to both.
Blacula is on the right track.
Remember, the Titan in question was male.
Kole helped which Titan resolve a romantic misunderstanding?
Clues:
- Not during her original tenure
- Not in the Titans toon
- Not Beast Boy, Raven, Jericho, Nightwing/Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Devil, Omen, Gnaark, Risk, Speedy, Kilowatt, Don Hall, Mirage, Terr, Redwing, Prestor Jon
- a male Titan
Vampire Guy (that may not be his official super hero title
)from Team Titans?
Close enough that I know who you are guessing (did the cat forbid you to Google? :p) but not him.
Google's a bit of a cheat for Spaceopoly. Hence periods of no posts, when I'm stuck.
What about the alternate Nightwing who went bad. Was he originally on the Team Titans team... is that too many "team"s?
Not enough teams, in fact.
And it wasn't alternate Nightwing aka Deathwing either.
Dagon? ...was there a Dagon?
Dagon is the vampire guy that thoth guessed, and it is not him.
What was the name of their Cable wannabe? Battalion? Barrage?
Battalion it was! The Kole that appeared in this series, who might not have been the real Kole, helped Battalion realize that the woman in this timeline who had the same name as his wife was not really his wife at all.
That was SOOOOOO out of left field. LOL
Hmmmm....
New Q up soon
Kole has only a handful of appearances, and I've almost run out of trivia questions about her
Which Titan loses their job at the Forbes Foundation when their past is revealed?
The ever charming Mr. Todd? Never!
(and this was WAY before Jason was an inkling to the big Bat)
The ever lovable Hank Hall? I'm shocked you would think such a thing.
And although this Titan was let go for something that Hank Hall could be accused of, Hank Hall is not it
You got it! Gnarrk was fired for being a cro-magnon!
Clear case of employment discrimination
Over to you, NSB!
Nope
While Speedy lost other jobs because of his substance abuse issue, he didn't lose one at the Forbes Foundation.
You got it! Gnarrk was fired for being a cro-magnon!
Clear case of employment discrimination
Over to you, NSB!
They could not tell just by looking at him??
Oh, wow! Honestly I was just trying to think of the Titans that hadn't been named yet XD
Alright:
Can you name all former members of Young Justice that have formally joined _some_ form of Titans team?
Cassie
Superboy
Bart Allen
Tim Drake
Hmmm seems to be all of them...
There's one (to my knowledge at least!) missing from your list, who is a lesser known/used member of both teams (in _some_ form
)
To my knowledge Damage was never a whole-hog member, and I was looking for Lagoon Boy who was in YJ and also a member of Titans East.
But Damage may count, if I am mistaken! Can anyone confirm?
It was just a random guess and I don't think Damage is right either
If it helps, I was about to guess Lagoon Boy.
Usually in these trivia games that would be enough reason to give the next question to Blacula:)
Fair! Blacula, you're up!
And here I was thinking that nothing good would ever come out of reading a Judd Winick comic! Thanks NSBL (and IB
)!
Q: What is true of the following Titans that is not true of any of their teammates?
Lilith
Mal
Gnaark
Bumblebee
Terra
Jericho
Kole
Danny Chase
Pantha
Red Star
Phantasm
Baby Wildebeest
Mirage
Terra II
Minion
Argent
Risk
Hotspot
Prysm
Fringe
Zatara
Hawk II
Miss Martian
Talon
Power Boy
Bombshell
Molecule
Young Frankenstein
Enigma
Solstice
That is a lot of Titans...
They were never sidekicks?
And here I was thinking that nothing good would ever come out of reading a Judd Winick comic! Thanks NSBL (and IB
)!
I think we just found the one 'good' application XD
That is a lot of Titans...
They were never sidekicks?
Nope. Hawk I and Dove I (for example) are two of many who were also never sidekicks.
And Talon was a sidekick.
Yeah I knew that wasn't it...
Can't be that they were only members of one team. Jericho does not fit.
They made their first appearance in a Titans comic?
That's a really good answer, Ibby.
I'm going to say...
They all have an unspoken crush on Dick Grayson?
No version of them has joined the Justice League?
That is a good answer IB... and it's the right answer!
Those were the only Titans that debuted within the pages of a Titans comic. All of the others appeared somewhere else first.
Over to you Brainiac, Invisible.
Wow! Glad I followed my hunch.
New Q up soon
Apologies fo4 holding this up... thanks for the bump up Blacula.
An easy one then...
Which Titan did Kole successfully encase in crystal in her first appearance?
She tried to, but was not successful. Starfire was able to blast the crystal away.
Yes! Poor Donna's Amazon strength was not enough. Then Starfire came and tried to beat Kole up for trapping Donna and the Amazons
Over to you thothy!
>tsk< I was going to go with Donna first, but I thought with it being all Titans of Myth that Donna would be used elsewhere.
New Q when I think of one...
What was Operation: Jericho?
Any one of a few answers will do.
Um... was it downloading his soul/mind/essence/MacGuffin plot point into CD so he could be resurrected in that story with Raven and the new team that saw him brought back?
No, it was not that. Sounds rubbish.
They downloaded it to diskette I believe.
Was it him being kidnapped and used by the Wildebeest Society?
"Oh No! Our Jericho clone just sits there drooling. Darn this decade's limited diskette capacity!"
No, it wasn't where Jericho was kidnapped and used by the Wildebeest (that was an easy capture, since he passed out from heat exhaustion in that silly suit)) Society.
I did wonder why they didn't just use a DVD or a USB. Stupid diskettes. Sometimes they get broken for no use at all.
OK, maybe not related to Joe...
Was it that time the Titans yelled really loudly and made a lot of noise so a fortress' walls would come tumbling down?
Who can forget Nightwing shouting "We're going to go Old Testament on your @$$!"
No, not that.
Sounds like something Cyborg would say. Nightwing would do it without saying @ss I think
Um...
Adeline Kane's revenge-induced takedown of Slade?
Was it the brotherhood of evil attacking zandia?
It was neither Adeline's revenge on Slade nor the Brotherhood's attack on Zandia.
An attempt to give Jericho vocal cords so he could tell all those women hiw he really felt?
"Will you all just stop pestering me! I'm trying to paint!"
No, not any attempt to give Joseph back his voice.
Attempt to get Jericho's brother to stop being Ravager and come home?
No, although there is a brother involved in the story.
Deathstroke's other crazy son tries to kill Jericho because of his daddy issues?
No, the story did not involve Deathstroke or Adeline.
Birthday surprise for Jericho?
Not a surprise for Jericho.
Jericho surprised the team with nude paintings?
I have no idea.
Was it something to do with that time Danny Chase read files on everyone in the team?
Eh, I'm thinking it must have happened before Joey Wilson was on the team
Was it the start of the Titans West team when they fought Mr. Calamity?
Jericho surprised the team with nude paintings?
...of himself... but no.
Was it something to do with that time Danny Chase read files on everyone in the team?
Yeah, that sounds like the start of an espionage story. Did he actually get to do any of those while on the team? But it's not that.
I was going to give a hint after the last guess, but a post has helped me along.
Eh, I'm thinking it must have happened before Joey Wilson was on the team
Yes it did.
Was it the start of the Titans West team when they fought Mr. Calamity?
But it wasn't that.
Hints are always welcome
That time the Titans worked to discredit a local war-mongering leader named Jericho by proving he was corrupt?
That's pretty plausible for this group of Titans, particularly the time of publication, but it's not right.
Rats. Back to random guessing
The Titans must build an impenetrable fortress that cannot be destroyed by sufficiently loud noises
No, although there is a horn in the story and it does act in a somewhat similar sort of way.
Uh... the construction of the Gabriel.Horn?
Not Gabriel's Horn. Going back to the question, perhaps thinking about why Joseph Wilson got the name Jericho would help.
Uh... helping someone get his or her voice back?
Not about giving people a voice, except perhaps in a cultural way.
HINT: The reason why Wolfman wanted to bring a character called Jericho "back" was due to an event from early on in his time at DC.
Uh... Operation Jericho was used as a way to give an oppressed minority the chance to reach out to the larger population they were living in as a way to acculturate and show they were not so unlike each other anyway?
I think I know what this is referring to.
Back in the original series there's a cover on which is written: "The Titans Fit the Battle of Jericho".
That sentence has ALWAYS bothered me! What the heck does it mean?!? Is "Fit" a misprint of "Fight"? How on earth does someone "Fit" a battle? Aaaarggh! I don't know why I'm so bugged by this line? But I am. Maybe it's a reference to a song or quote that I'm unfamiliar with.
Anyway, I don't know anything about the issue or what Operation: Jericho is but for some reason I'm getting some weird brain association with how Ferro Lad was originally meant to be black, so I'm going to say Operation: Jericho was something to do with introducing a black Titan, that obviously didn't work out (I think this was before Mal joined the team).
That line now bothers me as well. And I tried to look up old slang meanings fo "fit" but could not find anything.
I'm giving this one to Blacula, for pinning down the story.
From what I remember reading (probably from the Titans Companion), Marv Wolfman and Len Win were looking to introduce the superhero Joshua, who was black.
The plot they came up with was accepted, and encouraged and off they went to write it. However, the result was a lot of racially aggressive dialogue. The person who was agreeable to the plot, Donenfeld, was no longer there and there was a lot of concern. Neal Adams stepped in to help. When a dialogue rewrite was rejected, Adams went further and dug the issue out of a large hole. Lots of hurt feeling all round.
So Joshua became white, and the issues had a mixed look of Cardy/ Adams to them (I'd need to dig them out to see how much of Cardy was left)
I had read that Wolfman and Wein could only get under the table assignments from DC for a couple of years after this. But I read a few years ago, that this may have been due mistaken identity over another issue involving art.
Years later, Wolfman was secure enough at DC with the huge success of Titans, that he had the clout to give Robin a new identity. He made sure that a character he introduced was called Jericho, after that incident. I don't think it's a coincidence that Joe was mute. It's either a reference to undertones of the original story, or Wolfman's feeling of his written story at the time. I might have read that it was something Perez was very keen to do too.
As to the published story, Operation: Jerico was:-
A gang of kids demonstrating by painting park avenue green, to represent capitalist greed.
But it was also the name of the plot by a global villainous organisation behind a number of Titans foes over that run. The green paint was actually high explosives. It was a distraction that would enable a series of raid.
But it was also a plan instigated by an alien race. They are secretly behind the criminal organisation. They had co-opted the signal to detonate the paint and the properties of the paint itself. It would instead summon forth a Lovecraftian horror to devastate Earth.
So, despite the hasty rewrite, there's still a lot of layers in this one.
From what I read in the Titans Companion, the title "The Titans Fit the Battle of Jericho." was in place already. SO that was something that wasn't changed.
There's a British term "fit-up" which means to frame someone to take the blame for a crime. As you can see from all the layers to the story, everyone was really framing someone else. Even the Titans were fitted up to act against the kids, as part of Joshua's plan.
Over to you Blacula!
Wow. I should go read that story.
Glad I didn't put in any spoilers
D'Oh!
That does sound like an interesting issue. I still can't handle that cover sentence though. Haha
Easy Q: Which Titan was a TV star? (Bonus points if you can name the TV show.)
Gar Logan. I can't remember the show but it had the name "Space" in it I think...
Space Trek 2022 I think.
Over to you IB.
A criminal group once did a search of all Titans, and the results for Kole came up as "data inconclusive".
What was the name of the group that did the search?
Hmm I feel like this question was asked not long ago... but I can't remember the answer.
The Wildebeest Society?
Nope.
I may have asked it too
Sadly, there are only so many questions about Kole that I can ask...
The first answer that came to mind was one of those Cyborg probes in 'The Technis Imperative' but he obviously isn't a 'criminal group'.
Hmmm... The H.I.V.E.?
Good guess on the Cyborg probes, but yeah, not a criminal group.
Not the HIVE either.
Clue - the name contains a number.
Nope.
The number is much bigger than five.
Very close! Just add a digit...
The 101 Dalmatians are experimenting on Kole's corpse!?
Bad doggies! Bad!
At least bring that arm back. No, it is *not* a chew toy!
I do believe they have your cat, not Kole's arm.
A much larger increment than that.
Yes it was the 1000! I have no idea who they are or if there are only 1000 of them.
You are up Myg
I do believe they have your cat, not Kole's arm.
Too good to pass up.
I get confused between the 1000 & the 2000. One was in Booster Gold and the other was behind lots of Firestorm threats.
They were all killed by the 300 in a DC/ Dark Horse cross over event.
Your cat has better self defense skills than Kole anyway. But your cat will no be happy once you get back home...
Did the 300 smash their heads with their impossibly hard bellies?
Hmmm... Yeah, I don't think they ever appeared again
In what city is Donna Troy attacked by the Fearsome Five as their opening move against the Titans?
I was going to guess that, drat.
Uh, random guess, Metropolis?
Did the 300 smash their heads with their impossibly hard bellies?
yeah, the shame of not having their own airbrushed abs wrecked their battle mojo.
To be fair, they tried. The markers wore off, though.
Not New York or Metropolis
Care to give any clues?
Gateway City?
Not Gateway City
Hints:
The city ties into her job
AND
It was dropped almost immediately as a storyline
thanks for the clues
Hmm...
Las Vegas?
Not Vegas
Though you are right in that this is NOT a DCU fictional city
oh, I was going to go with LA... um... Chicago?
Getting closer geographically but not Houston
Not Dallas... more Southern
Nope
I didn't mean geographically so literally (in terms of Texas) but regionally (in terms of the South)
Hm... good clue, but my USA geography/history is not so good...
Memphis?
Neither Memphis nor New Orleans
And my Philippines knowledge is worse than your US geography, Ibby
Baton Rouge?
Neither Memphis nor New Orleans
And my Philippines knowledge is worse than your US geography, Ibby
Fair enough, I shall try not to ask any questions about the Philippines
We have some great beaches though
Not Birmingham nor baton Rouge
Nope. Think about what Donna does for a living and where she would consider living (the premise of the story is a relocation)
Hint: She doesn't sing country (at least in continuity)
Thanks. Wasn't she a photographer?
Hollywood?
Yes she was a photographer
But nope not Hollywood
Err not Hollywood, CA
And not Columbus - is Columbus a big photo capital?
Google told me it was.
Has San Francisco been guessed?
SF was guessed (and it's wrong - but would have been a better idea)
And not Atlantic City
TO RECAP:
In what city is Donna Troy attacked by the Fearsome Five as their opening move against the Titans?
Hints:
The city ties into her job
AND
It was dropped almost immediately as a storyline
AND
It's NOT a DCU fictional city
It's not:
Nashville
Memphis
Baton Rouge
New Orleans
Birmingham
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Austin
Dallas
Houston
Columbus
New York
Atlantic City
Las Vegas
Chicago
Philadelphia
Gateway City
Metropolis
Miami it is, future!
You have it
This was a strange story where Donna moves to Miami
I remember reading that I think. And then it was dropped when she joined the JLA, right?
What are the names of Wally West's parents?
Yeah it was dropped - COMPLETELY. The premise wasn't terrible, but would that mean a Titans South?
And I've never been a huge Wally fan. I did like his letter home issue of Titans though. And I remember the mom's name
How about Reginald and Mary?
Oh, this was more recent than I thought. I thought Donna's move happened back in the Wolfman/Perez era.
Mary and Randolph?
It was near the end of the second "The Titans" series. They set her up with her own unique locaton, gave her a job, and a supporting cast/love interest. By then I'm sure they knew she was going to JLA, so perhaps it was to set her up for increased popularity and something to work with for a solo should she earn it?
Ibby is so close I'll give it to him. Mary and RUdolph.
Ah, thanks Future. Rudolph would have been my next guess, if Randolph hadn't been right.
Wally's dad's name has always stuck with me because I knew it was similar to a close relative's name.
New Q soon...
What university did Flamebird study in?
Got it in one! You're up Myg.
AGH
I went to school there - that's why it always stuck with me
New Q up soon ... let me figure something out
Okay, who was Roy talking to when he said "You can call me anything but 'that guy who once did drugs'"?
His drug rehabilitation therapy group in a fit of denial ?
Errr... you know those files are confidential. I cannot confirm that. But I can deny it.
What files? My caffeine withdrawal got me into the group.
I think they were just looking to make up the numbers really. There was Roy, Rex Tyler, Mister Terrific from TV, J'Onn brought the biscuits which isn't a good sign and a Murran threatened us before breaking down in tears.
Was he being introduced to Starfire and that was some sort of weird pick up line?
That sounds like a very Roy thing to do
This was not used for either Starfire but I think it was a weird pick up line
What files? My caffeine withdrawal got me into the group.
I think they were just looking to make up the numbers really. There was Roy, Rex Tyler, Mister Terrific from TV, J'Onn brought the biscuits which isn't a good sign and a Murran threatened us before breaking down in tears.
Well that sounds like the concept for a new book!
Not Cheshire
But... I will say Roy didn't know if he was talking to a woman or a man
Well that sounds like the concept for a new book!
Pep Comics of a different sort
right, just have to narrow it down to the girls Roy had failed to impress...oh heck, this could take a while...
Argent?
Alas, Roy flirts with everyone...
Amanda Waller?
Not Argent or Amanda Waller
I have no idea if the caps were intentional. Not that my guesses get much better anyway
Phantasm?
Lol Caps weren't intentional
Not Phantasm
Lol Caps weren't intentional
I still nearly went for that Flash from the future. "What if Roy couldn't see it was a man due to the speed force" I thought
Minion? - the kid in the armoured suit, if that was his name.
Not Minion
Hint: This person was not a member of the Titans
nope
To recap:
who was Roy talking to when he said "You can call me anything but 'that guy who once did drugs'"?
Not -
Starfire I
Starfire II
His rehab group
Jesse Quick
Cheshire
Amanda Waller
Maxwell Lord
Minion
Argent
Phantasm
HINT: Roy did not know if he was talking to a man or a woman
This person was not a Titan
I keep thinking it was to one of the Legion.
Jeckie?
I seem to recall reading a discussion about this quote, but can't for the life of me remember where....
Raven?
Not Donna
This person was not a Titan
Singer/songwriter Paul Simon when he asked him what he should name his new song?
Not Batman (but close)
And Not Paul Simon (and not even close)
Definitely not his conscience
But to some heroes, this character has been a Jiminy Cricket of sorts
Yes, it's Oracle!
Roy called her in the Arsenal mini-series to get information and they had an odd flirtation. After, Roy wondered "is Oracle a girl? I hope she's a girl."
Over to you, Ibby
Oh Roy. That is so Roy.
Cool Q. New one up soon!
Gah! I was thinking I had read the quote, but I've not read that one.
Good question Myg. Well done Ibbster.
In COIE, Kole created a safety slide to help people escape from a falling building.
Which hero helped her hold up the building?
Yes it was! Over to you thothy
New Q tomorrow...well later today for me...
Today is running awfully long...
Yes. Yes it is. And that's because...because the length of the day is so much different here on this outpost colony Legion World sent me to. Yes that's it. Actually, no one else from LW gets sent to far away places at the edge of the galaxy. I wonder why that is. I guess this must be a special mission...
heck, when did I get two questions to do?
LOL that's one of the conflicts to winning on a Q
First out of the pile...
Who was the Villain who kidnapped the parents of Danny Chase?
And Myg gets the win. Deathstroke makes an appearance in it. Well Slade Wilson does as this would have been when he had a character arc, rather than just being an anti hero or a outright villain.
Having flicked through it, I take it that this was the first appearance of Danny Chase?
I got this one really late on in the Titans issues I have, so Danny had come and gone by then. Wolfman introduces us to some of his thinking in the letters page:-
"You try to come up with a character who will help flesh out the series...add to new growth and new fun."
He talks about the deliberate personality and power balance of the original line up.
"Our characters didn't overlap and could play off each other emotionally."
He extends that into the creation of Jericho. "...his emotions had to work off all our characters. We developed a sensitive artist/poet/musician to work against the more action oriented characters."
And then there's Danny...
"He's the youngest Titan by far - only 13. He's a pro: His parents worked for the US government before Danny quit. His powers are different as well...allowing, we hope, for a good blend of character/personality/ability."
"Emotionally, he's a kid, a status, which is needed in a group where already three members have pushed past that fabled 20 year mark. Danny brings the TEEN back into the Teen Titans, and that won't hurt."
Except that it did. It was that last point that I think was the misstep. "Emotionally, he's a kid." But Danny was a brat. He wasn't a particularly nice kid. His background actually sets it up. He's a kid spy, having to act older than his years in a literally cut throat world. So he's selfish, over confident and a bit fragile underneath. All of which makes him come across like a real pain.
Gar Logan had been lonely and depressed, hiding it under a mask of humour. Danny protected his vulnerabilities beneath a personality designed to protect his real feelings. But there wasn't many endearing qualities about it. As such, getting to the root of that personality really should have been notched up. It wasn't and readers were sick of him after not too long.
The change in dynamic, which isn't a bad thing, forced Logan into a new role. The others had to compensate accordingly and it didn't really work for anyone.
Right, by the time Myg has read through that lot, days will have passed making my delay in putting up a question seem small by comparison. A cunning plan!
I do remember Danny being a snot. He was ok though in that Games trade published recently that is not canon.
I was just thinking about Games. I waited ages for it, but I've only read it the once. Time to find it again.
I did hate that they turned Jericho into a womanizer with nearly a dozen simultaneous girlfriends. Making him attractive to the opposite sex is cool, but not turning him into Roy Harper Lite
LOL
That was at a time when I noticed the quality of Annuals had started to slip. I remember being excited about the Titans Annual, racing to the comic shop on a Wednesday afternoon, saving the Annual for the bottom of my read list (where the best comics were), reading it.
And I was thinking "What?" This was crap. Godiva = throwaway villain. Danny Chase = UGH
I don't think I read one book where I found Danny Chase useful or fun to read.
Sigh.
Anyways, new Q up soon
Godiva was a pretty crappy villain too
Though her obsession with health was kind of interesting. I remember her killing henchmen for consuming unhealthy stuff.
Yeah, bumped people off for eating meat and smoking. She had a thing for always being filmed too.
The fitness coach from hell
The fitness coach from hell
We just call them cross-fit people now
Ok, what villain brought a Titan "in like" (as in potential love interest) with a gay man?
I'm not sure I understand the question. Did this villain arrange a date between a Titan and a gay man? Or kidnapped the Titan and gave him to a gay man?
Because he is overexposed, I'll guess Deathstroke.
Not Deathstroke
No, this villain attacked and - in the ensuing struggle - a Titan started having feelings for a man
Hm! Sounds like an interesting story...
Uh...
Harvest?
Hm this sounds like something recent...
Or could be older and we are dealing with a telepath...
Fear and Loathing?
Errrr no "Fear" nor "Loathing"
Which villain's rampage brought together a Titan "in like" with a gay man?
Not:
Psimon
Gizmo
Fear and Loathing
Deathstroke
Harvest
Blackest Night Terry Long
Not Trigon or Blackest Night Terry Long
Not Shimmer
Hint: The gay man wasn't out at the time
Bunker is the only Titan I can thinknof who was gay. Unless it was only the other guy who was.
Pied Piper?
not Pied Piper
HINT: the villain was big enough for multiple hero times to fight

I'm not sure I get this. Big enough for multiple hero times... Multiple appearances?
Anyway...
Giganta?
Not Giganta
Just that the character is a big enough name to draw a couple hero teams to the fight
Ah, thanks for clarifying.
Lady Zandia?
Not Indigo
But it is a villain that caused the Titans to team up with another team
Close (in terms of era)
But not Baron Bedlam
Molotov from the People's Heroes?
Neither Molotov (or any of the People's Heroes) or Brimstone
Nope
The villain is a classic foe of another team -- thus causing the crossover
It was Ultra-Humanite!
The Teen Titans and Infinity, Inc. cross-over brought together Raven and Obsidian, whom she was deeply attracted to.
This was WAY before Obsidian was revealed to be gay
Ahhhh poor Raven. I guess her empathy was off
Over to you, Blacula!
Good question Myg. I didn't get it at first, but once the penny dropped it was a toughie.
Thanks! I really enjoyed that era of comics - and the crossovers were appealing (before it became a monster event thing).
Even though Infinity Inc was not particularly good over the whole series, I liked the characters.
Ah now I understand the question. I thought both people were male. Sounds like a cool story
Yeah I was purposefully vague on the gender in order to increase the question difficulty
I thought it would be too easy if I said "this female Titan fell for a non-out gay hero"
The story is actually not good. I just reread it and it doesn't hold up. I just liked that two of my fave groups were hanging out
Ironic I got this question right considering I still have no idea what it was actually asking. haha
I'm lucky a few of the clues reminded me of that cover with the Ultra-Humanite standing on top of the Titans Tower. Speaking of...

Clue: This is a Jay Faerber era villain.
Uh oh ... I only picked up the first few issues of that era because I couldn't stand it ... ARGH!
Not an era, I've read much of. But it might have been an old one revisited or perhaps it was ...Omen?
Jay Faerber also made me drop the book.
Andy is closest so far.
Epsilon it was!
What a lame villain to be included among classics like Trigon and The Wildebeest Society but then I always thought that holographic Titans Tower / underground base was a lame headquarters so I guess it fits.
Over to you Andy.
That's quite a sturdy hologram, when you think about it.
PS congrats on 5000 posts, Blacula!
Oh, I remember Epsilon. He was incredibly dull. A sort of cookie cutter character, with generic uber-powers, wasn't he?
^ I have no idea. I've so successfully blocked him from my memory, all I remember is that he had blonde hair.
---
Thanks IB! I hadn't even noticed. Got a ways to go to catch up with you.
I remember blonde hair and a reddish costume, and that's it
I didn't read that version of the team though. It started out promising, but I got turned off after the early departures of Starfire and Cyborg and the frequent absenteeism of Flash
Eh, no need to make posting a contest, Blacula
thanks for 5000 fun posts!
All I remember is a costume really and being underwhelmed by the plot/powers. I wouldn't have read much of it, so perhaps all the other issues were great
I have the same memory as Blacula about him
Blond hair
I think Argent liked him?
New q up soon
Okay, here's the question...
Mal and Speedy confronted which Earth 2 villain?
Sounds Crisis Related...
Solomon Grundy?
It IS Fiddler!
It was a crazy time for the Titans -- I loved that Mal and Speedy were working together against a JSA foe -- but it was never explained well (and the overall story doesn't hold up anyway)
Sigh
Over to you Thoth
Yay! Mal's Sound power vs the sound power of the Fiddler. Thank you lazy writer!
New Q soon!
No, really it will be soon!
I swears...the interweb ate my post! I swears!
Um, what was it again...
Oh yeah, Lilith has been captured by Tartarus. She sends out a telepathic distress call to which Titan, in her hour of need?
Well, I did think we could wait another day before using the cattle prod...
Donna Troy?
Myg gets it! It was Garth. From her cell, Lilith must have known it was Garth's turn to show those leadership capabilities he'd been keeping hidden for decades. Not Grayson, Donna or Wally or even Roy.
I was skimming it, but it looked like an OK issue, without being great. Tartarus looked pretty deadly with the likes of Grodd on their roster.
Well I wanted to love the issue because I love Garth but... it kind of fell flat (like most of that run, IMO)
Ok, something straightforward - which Titan villain started out their career as minion of the Monitor?
Was that Cheshire, who was about the only survivor form that second annual?
Yes it was Cheshire
I loved that Annual. The art, the story, the action - all spot on
And even more impressive is how big Cheshire grew throughout the DCU
Over to you, Thoth
Yeah, I think I bought another copy of that one as my first had been read so many times. So much going on in it, and that Perez art ... wow. Thinking back, we had a lead in to both the Vigilante and the Crisis in there. Thanks for the memories Myg!
New Titanic Question...Sooon!
Yeah those Perez villains were well-designed and fairly complete, even for one-shots. Like he put his energy in and just wanted to see which villains became big on their own
I think I've bought that TT Annual 5 times over the years.
Which Earth-1 supervillain made his way to another Earth in a Teen Titans/ Zoo Crew crossover?
Bonus point: What did the Zoo Crew find appalling about the villain when they were first informed of his presence on their world?
Wow, I didn't even know there was such a crossover. Cool.
Psimon?
They were shocked that he would display his brain for all to see?
I have no idea what story you're referring to! Wow - that's impressive. I was typing in STARRO in a "duh" way until I saw the TT caveat.
Hmmmm...
I'm going with Monsieur Mallah ... and they were disgusted that he's naked?
Myg is very close and is right about the reason too.
Mallah, and for the same reason? Plus that he was slave to a talking Brain?
I'm going to say it's the gorilla thing so... Grodd? And cuz he's naked
Oh wait... I thought you guessed Grodd first... which is why I guessed Mallah now... but it turns out you guessed Mallah first. Silly me.
Like Andy, Starro immediately came to my mind for some reason, and since Andy almost but didn't quite choose him, he's my guess.
And Andy gets it with Grodd! As they all wear clothes on Earth-C, they thought Grodd's nudity was shocking.
The eye catchingly, sales boostingly prominent Teen Titans logo turned out to be Changeling. The perfect Titan to fit spend time with the animals and as the link between super heroes and humour.
Over to you Andy!
I have never seen that comic in my life (and my childhood memory insists I had ALL the Captain Carrot's - but that was when I was still buying comics from the drug store/used book store/grocery store). Hysterical concept
Let's see... The Titans have had members that were NOT so heroic and noble. Which Titan was openly nasty to Metamorpho, asking him if Acme Demolition had done his face?
YES You got it in one, Ibby
In the great early Batman and the Outsiders/Teen Titans team-up, we start to see behind the mask of Tara Markov - her brother (when she said she had no family), her nastiness (as with Metamorpho) and her plans (as she hopes Geo Force is not caught up in her schemes).
I loved the team up (also it was at the time that Dick was asserting himself more)
Cool! At first I thought it was too obvious, but there aren't many Titans that mean.
New Q up soon
It could have been Rose Wilson or Risk or Danny Chase!
LOL
Yeah, I guess there aren't too many mean folks in the Titans
I didn't have any Captain Carrot comics growing up. But I did like some of the covers I saw when I got the image for this Q.
Particularly the homage to the All Star Squadron. JSA/JLA Team up where they have the creators as Earth C residents.
On the BatO/ Titans team up, I had only the Titans one for years and years. Getting it was a good excuse to go back and read all the early issues of that run.
I read the Oz/Wonderland War featuring Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew. I really enjoyed it. All the Zoo Crew are quite a lot of fun.
It could have been Rose Wilson or Risk or Danny Chase!
LOL
Yeah, I guess there aren't too many mean folks in the Titans
Danny would have been my next guess!
Question:
Bombshell once betrayed the Titans. The Titans were convinced she only did so because she thought it was the right thing, and allowed her to rejoin them when her life was in danger.
One Titan convinced Bombshell to admit that she saw the Titans as family. Which Titan was this?
Yes! It was Rose, tough girl to tough girl. Over to you thothy.
Which four members of the Justice League do Mal & Kid Flash meet on an divergent Earth?
Bonus: What happened to make this Earth different?
Batman
Flash
Wonder Woman
Zatanna
They were evil?
2 right, and the reason wrong.
Batman
Flash
Aqua Man
Superman
And in this Earth, the communists won the Cold War?
3 right but the wrong reason, which was related to something that Mal + Kid Flash did.
Batman
Flash
Aquaman
Green Arrow
Superman
Flash
Aquaman
Wonder Woman
Batman
Flash
Aquaman
Hawkman
The Earth was different because Kid Flash and Mal saved Abraham Lincoln?
Superman
Flash
Batman
Green Arrow
Ibby gets it!
From my skimming, Mal & Wally are lost in time. They kill a caveman. As a result, the future is changed. Their time becomes a feudal society, with characters that look uncannily like the early Busiek/ Perez Avengers issues.
I was just so surprised to see them.
Sounds like an interesting story - at least featuring some cool Titans
How a cave man's death turns "modern" society into feudalism seems ... odd
Eh, it's comic books
Perhaps that was the caveman who came up with man made fire or something, setting civilisation back centuries until someone came up with the lighter.
Oh my gosh. I remember this story now. It was mercilessly ridiculed on a website called Cheeks the Toy Wonder and I loved reading said website.
The Green Arrow analog had a large boar head as a hat I recall, and Cheeks made much of the fact that it was a ridiculously oversized hat.
I can't wait to see the question IB's spent the last month cooking up for us!
Oops! Would you believe I spent the last month pulling it out of a very, very deep hat?
Apologies, and thanks for the reminder!
An easy one then...
Which Titan did Kole have a crush on?
Who were the five members of the Teeny Titans?
There was such a thing? Oi!
Baby Robin (Dick)
Baby Donna
Baby Wally
Baby Garth
Baby Roy
Not baby Robin... and no others right.
I feel like this might be from the Titans Sell Out Special. If so:
Nightwing
Starfire
Cyborg
Pantha
Baby Wildebeest
It's around that time... four right (form the issue I was looking at anyway)
Nightwing
Starfire
Pantha
Baby Wildebeest
Yay! It's Changeling.
Over to you Blacula!
I feel like I'm stepping on a certain someone's toes by asking a Kole question (
) but this was the first question to come to mind so...
Who was Kole's best friend in the Teen Titans cartoon?
Haha any interest in Kole makes me happy
Gnaark
Gnaark it was. What a strange pairing.
Over to you IB.
I think they just really, really wanted to use Gnaark, but felt Lilith was too confusing to deal with... so paired him with Kole.
I do hate that they downgraded her powers in the cartoon. From making crystal constructs to turning herself into crystal? Meh.
Let's see...
In JLA/Titans, which Titan started the fight between the teams?
Yup, it was hot-headed Risk, who promptly got KOed by Orion.
Over to you thothy!
What was the motivation behind the Disruptor's attack on the Titans?
Wasn't he trying to impress his father?
He was indeed! He's got a super suit. He's beaten the Titans on a few occasions, but the pesky heroes won't stay dead. But it's never enough for his father, who disowns him in the end.
Interestingly, the father had appeared in an earlier Batman story, and wanted to join the Hive. So, Wolfman cleverly combined a few things together to make it more than just a kid in a suit.
Over to you Andy!
Yeah, I always felt sympathy for the Disruptor ... sad sack that he was.
Although looking back, it seems that family issues (particularly daddy ones) were the drivers to a lot of the early Teen Titans stories.
Okay, with what villain did Bizarro team up to battle the Teen Titans?
Magenta had her ultra-religious mom, Dick had this sort of issue with Batman, Deathstroke and his kids, and of course Trigon...
Bizzaro team-up? uh... Solomon Grundy?
Neither the brain nor mallah
YES
It was the Joker in Titans West Special (where all the Titans get killed in the end). The opening is a battle between Joker and Bizarro and the classic Wolfman/Perez team.
Over to you, Ibby
Missed this, thanks Myg.
Which Titan has hit on Anima by inviting her to... Hawaii?
Correct! over to you Myg.
Well, Connor was the only I knew that lived in Hawaii so...
LOL
OK, in one of my favorite off-beat stories, 8 Titans go to Hell to rescue a group of scientists. They face a crew of 6 notorious baddies. Name the villains
BONUS points if you name the Titans too! (Bonus points will be assessed by moderators and Time Trappers and awarded to your karma)
6 notorious baddies sounds like historical baddies.
Hm...
Hitler
Nero
Dillinger
Billy the Kid
Ghengis Khan
Blackbeard
They are historical (in that they lived in the past)... but they are all DCU villains
I've never read the story, but I think it might be this one?
El Papagayo
Icicle I
Electrocutioner I
Iron Major
Clayface I
The Top
You got it!
Hawk and Dove Annual 1 brought Titans West back together to go to Hell and face this bizarre crew of villains
Over to you, Blacula
'The Titans' villain Epsilon turned out to be some nobody. But he was originally going to be a former Titan gone bad.
Which one?
Or Damage or Chris King.
Recap: Epsilon was originally intended to be which Titan 'gone bad'?
NOT:
Lilith
Red Star
Raven
Risk
Mal Duncan
Golden Eagle
Damage
Chris King
Myg has it! It was Danny Chase.
Apparently, Jay Faerbar was going to have him brought back to life as the villain Epsilon.
I'm not sure how I would have felt about that. I wasn't the biggest Danny Chase fan but I loved Phantasm (when it was him under the mask; I hated it when the boring, nebulous "Souls of Azareth" or whatever took over). I wish Danny had been given more time to establish himself as that character rather than being killed off.
The same article I got this piece of trivia from also made me completely re-evaluate my position on Jay Faerbar's writing skills. I am a huge hater of the pathetic D.E.Orphans and have held them as a black mark against Faerbar for the longest time. I consider them probably the most pointless side-characters in the entirety of Titans history.
And guess what!? Faerbar agrees with me! Apparently, he never wanted to include them in the book but they were forced upon him by his new editor, Andrew Helfer (who had apparently never read a Titans title before!), who wanted them to take over as the main characters of the title! Can you believe that?! Readers had waited 20-30 years to get the Fab 5 Titans back together and now this ridiculous editor wants to dump them in favour of these nobodies?!
Faerbar quit the book soon after that because he realised his vision for it was so at odds with Helfer's. I really owe Faerbar a silent apology for misjudging him this whole time.
And it's made me wonder just how many of the bad impressions I have of certain writers should actually be laid at the feet of their editors?
Wow
total guess about Danny Chase - it was a word association when Ibby said Gar
That is an interesting fact, Blacula
I also judged Jay Faerber harshly for his Titans run
And didn't know why I loved his creator-owned stuff so much better than his DC stuff
Danny Chase was indeed far more interesting as Phantasm than as any other character. If they weren't on such a disastrous course already (IMO) it would have been great to see a Titans team of Nightwing, Red Star, Phantasm, Starfire, Raven, Bumblebee, Herald, Aqua Lad, etc.
New question soon
Gosh yes! What a fantastic lineup that would have been.
P.S. Happy Birthday Myg!
Thanks, Blacula!
I was planning on a nice quiet birthday
but the best laid plans...
Ok, here's the question:
Who once described one of the Titans as "barely having superpowers" and who were they describing?
Aqualad was being described by.... Danny Chase?
Nope
(But that would be SOOO in character)
Aqualad was being described by.... undead Lilith?
Errrr... nope
It was another superhero describing a Titan though
Aqualad being described by Batman
LOL it wasn't Aqua Lad involved at all
Jason Todd about Kid Devil?
Nope... The Titan is from an earlier version of the team
Not Beast Boy ...
Errr the Titan was a formal member of an earlier version of the team than when Gar joined
And the hero was even more senior than Batman
Q Again:
Who once described one of the Titans as "barely having superpowers" and who were they describing?
NOT:
Jason Todd on Kid Devil
Danny Chase, undead Lilith or Batman on Aqua Lad
Batman on Gar
HINTS:
The Titan was in an earlier version of the Titans than Gar formally joined
It is not Aqualad being commented on
The hero is more senior than Batman
Not Superman about Lilith
(Though that would make a lot of sense)
Lilith is VERY close
The hero is more senior than Superman amongst DCU Heroes
Neither Gnaark nor Hawkman
Martian Manhunter about Mal?
It WAS about Mal but it wasn't the Martian Manhunter!!!
SOOO Close
Gah.... close... Wonder Woman? (doesn't seem like her though)
Ack, and here I thought barely having powers meant there were some... Mal does not have powers without his tech... or maybe he is a very low level one I dunno...
Uh...
Dr Fate?
Neither Wonder Woman nor Dr. Fate
Who dares criticize my beloved Mal?!
Seems like the a**hole type of thing Plastic Man might say? Maybe in JLA/Titans?
Not Crimson Avenger nor Plastic Man
And it was a hero who was not criticizing Mal, but rather criticizing the choice of Mal for the adventure
Not Hawkman nor Aquaman
(though many of you have skipped over this hero's place at the table in your guessing)
So... close
But not Jay ...er the Flash
Not sure whether that was a hint to go for a different Flash... so
Green Lantern! Ironically, also just a bloke without his ring, just as Mal would be without his shield/horn.
Thoth has it!
When Alan Scott was head of Checkmate and reviewing the crash of heroes on Earth during the weekly 52, he asks "who invited Herald? He barely has superpowers!"
Over to you, Thoth
Ah that's when it was. I was think it was something from way back when Titans West and East met up.
New question quicker than a first day student's crush on Terry Long...
It's not that I'm not trying, but that's 3 random issues and not a question in sight...
Go thothy! One will come to you soon I know it!
*this does not count as nagging as I am being encouragingly nice*
I'll keep plugging away now I've had your encouragement.
Yay thothy! You can do it! *waves flag, rubs thothy's shoulders, grabs a nice cold drink*
What was the code word that Doctor Damalis used to control Magenta?
Cinderella?
(Oh! What a great idea for a series - Teen Titans Spotlight - too bad it didn't succeed)
Really close Andy. "Cinderella" was the code word for Lightning.
I'm glad you're on the right lines though, and with the right story, as I wondered about this one being too vague. I went through a dozen other Titans issues without a single question popping up for me.
Yay! That's it.
There was mention of a "Snow White" at the end and a wall with a big hole in it. What DC character could Damalis have had her claws into. It's an interesting idea, and I've no idea if it was ever followed up on.
I never bought Spotlight. Considering it was running on the coat tails of Wolfman/Perez it should have done a lot better. There was that amazing Perez ad for it too with all the headshots. I never really picked up many of the issues cheaply either. I think I wasn't impressed with the art/story.
I did pick up the Magenta one, and was thrilled to see Chuck Patton's art in it. Seriously underrated in my book and DC were silly not giving him plenty of work to keep him around.
Yeah the series never lived up to its possibilities
The Magenta, Thunder & Lightning team up was a bright spot
New Q soonish
Teen Titans Spotlight had oodles of potential (and that amazing advertisement by George Perez certainly tapped into that) but unfortunately, its main problem was that it was majorly boring. I bought the whole series as a set a few years ago and struggled to get through it.
I think it was hamstrung by the fact that nearly all of the writers were "guest" writers (IIRC) so none of them could do anything meaningful with any of the characters. I also can't recall any interesting or pre-established villains being used.
It didn't help that it came out just when the wheels were beginning to fall off the once great Titans property.
I think I also read through it, but I barely remember anything.
The Wolfman/Perez era was generally great, but I also remember starting to get bored towards the latter part. I can't quite place my finger on why, nor can I really identify the exact issue (partly because I binge read the whole run).
For me, it's the Baxter issues. 'Tales of the Teen Titans' stayed great more or less right until the end of its 'original stories' run but there was something missing from the prestige format series right from the start IMO.
Not even Kole could save it. ;-)
*sob* I bet the series would have been great if they had saved Kole!
*sob*
I think that Wolfman was struggling with writer's block for at least part of that time shortly after the Baxter launch. I'm surprised his brain hadn't melted after crisis.
With no Perez after the first arc and the book becoming possibly too soapish right at that time, a number of things might have contributed.
Azrael should have been a bit of a warning for all involved :-)
*sob* I bet the series would have been great if they had saved Kole! *sob*
There, there. Did bad LW bringback a sad memory? Have a tissue. [Whistles innocently]
*sob* she was such a sweet, sweet character *sob* so full of hope and life *choke*
Vandal Savage managed to beat a Titans team pretty handily (I think in 2 pages). Who were the four Titans on the team?
Arsenal
Supergirl
Tempest
Jesse Quick
You got it!
I really enjoyed DC 1,000,000 overall but this fight with Vandal Savage was SOOOOOO bad ... it was part of the whole "Titans defeated to advance plot" motif that was carried on by DiDio and Johns through the 2000s
Over to you, Ibby
Oh yeah, I read that one. Roy Harper being seen to try and fail as a leader. I don't actually mind that. Not everyone is suited for everything. But Vandal still took them down far too easily.
Roy Harper being seen to try and fail as a leader. I don't actually mind that. Not everyone is suited for everything. But Vandal still took them down far too easily.
Agreed on both counts. I have never understood the "any of us can be leader" model of some superteams.
But Supergirl got taken out with an explosive arrow. No. Seriously.
As I have to really trawl through Titans issues to get questions for this thread, I recently saw an Aqualad issue, where it's his turn to step up to the leadership plate. It's not that the story was badly written. It's just that when the characters become that interchangeable in terms of skills, then it really loses something.
No. Seriously.
Agree. Vandal should have had more trouble with that quartet.
That is why I appreciate when different leaders have diff challenges. V3 Polar Boy comes to mind...
New Q in a bit
Which Titan did Argent date during the one year gap?
CM3 (or whatever Freddie's dumb modern name was)?
Nope.
This character was also a Titan some time during the One Year Gap
Dick Grayson (because everyone wants Dick)
Nope.
And not everyone wants Dick
Which Titan did Argent date during the one year gap?
Not:
Risk
Captain Marvel Junior
Dick Grayson
(because everyone wants Dick)
tee hee
Was it Power Boy?
Was it Plastic Man's kid?
Not Plastic Man's son Offspring!
If only! but, no.
Which Titan did Argent date during the one year gap?
Not:
Risk
Captain Marvel Junior
Dick Grayson
Power Boy
Offspring
Rose Wilson
This Titan has since died
Still no. Bushido died before the one year gap I think.
This Titan was introduced during the gap if I am not mistaken
Hmmm. Stumpled. I'll have to think. What was the point of chucking in everyone and their teen friends into the team in a gap. I'm not saying the teams should be exclusive clubs, but there's traditionally a natural growth to them. That was a bit spoiled with letting everyone join.
Yeah it was a silly move. 20 new members or so, many of whom had never appeared before. They did add to the ranks of cannon fodder-able members so there's that...
I was going to guess that with my last post and then I thought..."or was that a film? Did I just confuse it with a Teen Titan."
Bombshell
Not Static or Bombshell
This Titan's powers duplicate a Satellite Era JLAer
Nope
Getting closer though
I was kind of hoping for Mas & Menos
Was it the lusty Power Boy ?
Not Power Boy or Talon
This Titan had powers
Which Titan did Argent date during the one year gap?
Not:
Risk
Captain Marvel Junior
Dick Grayson
Power Boy
Offspring
Rose Wilson
Red Devil
Bushido
Young Frankenstein
Static
Bombshell
Mas
Menos
Talon
Clues
Has since died
Introduced during One Year Gap
Duplicates powers of Satellie Era JLAer
Has powers
This Titan's powers duplicate a Satellite Era JLAer
Offspring... again... um... Ray Palmer? He was a Titan. Although it's pretty...creepy and I don't remember him dying as a throwaway... still...it's a guess all the same...
I'll steal Thoth's idea and say Molecule. Although I doubt it was him.
Molecule it was! Odd huh? Molecule only appeared a couple of times so I can't say what his personality was like.
So Blacula gets it!
Glad I helped as I've no idea who Molecule is/was :-)
Strange that I overlooked Molecule - that great Titan
I was going to make a joke about how small people are important too, but as nobody knows who Molecule is...
http://www.titanstower.com/molecule/
Where was this dating revealed? I don't remember Molecule making any appearances beyond his first one (where he was just a picture on a wall) and his death in... Terror Titans I think?
Q: According to Zachary Zatara, which former Titan apparently almost ate him and Kid Devil?
Former Titan almost eating Zatara and Kid Devil... Hmmm... I read it before, but can't quite remember who...
Baby Wildebeest?
From Titans Tower:
52: Week Twenty Thirty-Four [2006]: Osiris mentions that Argent and Molecule just went through an “awful break-up.” He also mentions a recent Titans mission where the team helped Kid Eternity stop the Keeper’s plans for controlling the dead.
In 52: WEEK TWENTY ONE [2006], Molecule was also shown perched on Argent's shoulder.
Ahhhh the 52 with its little gems...
Ate Zatara and Kid Devil? How about Molecule?
Haha That would have been a big meal for him.
Not Baby Wildebeest or Molecule.
Yes. Although he called him/it "The Phantasm" for some reason. It apparently occurred during an off-panel adventure in New Azareth. I would have liked to see that story on-panel.
I was pretty sure it had been an off-panel mention. That WOULD have been cool, especially if Phantasm had become "evil".
This will probably be an easy one.
Enigma is also known as who's daughter?
Correct! No idea if she really was...
Darn the win! New Q up soon
Ok, Golden Eagle is one of my favorite Titans ... So it may be easy but I want to celebrate him a bit
What did Golden Eagle's dad name him?
Charley?
Unless you mean, what code name did his dad give him. Golden Hawk?
Not David
Charlie discovers his Dad has a particular background and gave him a completely different name
Beaky
Didn't they play around with his original couple of time after Crisis. Probably one was related to Hawkworld. Perhaps he was given a Thanangarian name. Chet-Al or something following his jazz roots.
So close! And definitely on the right track, Thoth, with the Thanagarian connect
Ohhhhhhhh now I'm remembering. It's something like Char-Ul or something I think.
Blacula is so close
The last name is Andar
Fel...? No, wait, he's Fel's son, right?
So the correct answer is Fel?
Nope - Blacula's guess is still closest
I don't think I've read this origin for him.. I last recall him from a back issue of Titans Hunt.
Char Andar, but that's pretty much Blacula's
This is from the Hawkman series that Geoff Johns/Rags Morales started (as JSA became popular)
So close, Thoth. So close but one key difference
Nope
still one letter off
But the first part of the name is actually "Cha'a" ... if that helps figure out how his name works in Thanagarian
Blacula has it!
Over to you!
That's right. I totally wouldn't have got it without your clues though Andy.
I've never read the Gray/Palmiotti Hawkman run. I really need to one day though. I love all the old characters they brought back like Golden Eagle and Fadeaway Man and so on.
Whoops. Forgot my question. Probably an easy one:
Karate Kid once disguised himself as which Titans villain?
Correcto! Over to you IB.
Hmmm...
What sport is Flamebird best known for?
Well, besides that
This is an actual competitive sport.
Yes, I know. I've been an amateur for decades
Am I right?
Quis has it, tennis it is!
I was close - long rods and balls!
In the Day in the Life story of the New Teen Titans, before they became evil and horrible people, what did Wally's dad have him do now that Wally was a man?
...no wait, Sister Sin was part of Brother Blood's church, so it wasn't that...
Hmmm. I guess I'll just look at my life for inspiration. Was Wally invited to join an aeon old cult of androids too?
They weren't horrible yet so...
... fix the car?
He asked Wally to remember to call his mother
Keys to the car? Wasted on Wally, but he took it with good grace.
Build his own fortress of solitude.
Okay, a new footstool...
Nope, nope, nope
Are you guys guessing to goof around or do you need a hint?
Hints make me happy.
Did he... have to pick a Christmas tree?
What Wally did was something that can be done at Christmas, but in the story it was not Christmas. In other words, it is something that can be done on a holiday or not on a holiday.
Wally only had enough money to pay the bills after he won the lottery and by that time he wasn't in the Teen Titans.
Tell his mom he loves her.
Be the one to greet guests at the family home?
So far thoth lad is getting close.
Ummmm... being the one to put sleeping pills into annoying relatves drinks
getting to recite the family history...It were tough being an android in England, so we chose to leave for a new land.We lost many friends to the salty ocean.Rust mainly.
Some sort of cultural thing involving being the one to put up a particular symbolic decoration?
Sending out greeting cards?
I think I am going to reveal the answer and let the next person ask a new question.
Wally & his parents were sitting down to the family dinner and were discussing different things. Wally's dad asks him to carve the meat. Wally says "But you do that." to which his dad says "The man of the family does it."
In retrospect, Wally's dad could have been coming out as transgendered.
Someone ask another question
Ah! I just couldn't think of something holiday/nonholiday specific. My next guess was going to be feeding the Titans prisoners in the basement after the tower blew up, so you may have made a good call :-)
... of course, they could have fed the prisoners turkey....
I guess I'll summon up a new Q ...
Who distracted the Teen Titans from their work with their music?
There was this teen musician who would run around in a speedo... forgot his name...5
I always wished that guy would trip and fall headlong into garbage. Playing music in a speedo, bah! That only works if you have the body for it, and this kid didn't!
I'll give you a hint - there were three of them (but I only expect you to come up with the group name)
Were they the Flips? one had a bike, another a flying surfboard and um...forget the other one...
Yes, they were the Flips!
That funky band
Over to Thoth
It's one of those that I only know form mining for my own questions
Speaking of which, next one shortly...
Girl Meets Boy. Girl falls for Boy. But what was wrong with Raven's boyfriend Eric Forrester?
He was a cyberpath who was slowly losing his humanity and needed to absorb the humanity from women.
Basically he would have been called Craig's List today
That's the guy, or should I say that's the creep. Didn't Starfire have a similar creep and Ms Simms too.
Gee, that's some trend. Fortunately, there are
Marv Terry Long's in the world.
Over to you Andy!
LOL he stood out for some reason
It was nice(?) to see the sex life of Raven but it was creepy that it broke down that way
New Q up soon
Ok, folks. In the DC Rebirth, there are now 10 original Teen Titans. Name them.
Wait, what? So many.
Robin
Wonder Girl
Aqualad
Superboy
Kid Flash
Speedy
Beast Boy
Raven
Starfire
Cyborg
(I should have worded this question better)
5 right
1. Robin
2. Wonder Girl
3. Speedy
4. Kid Flash
5. Aqualad
6.
7.
8.
9.

Hawk
Dove
Lilith

3. Speedy
4. Kid Flash
5. Aqualad
6. Lillith
7. Hawk
8. Dove
9. Mal Duncan
10.
Gnaark - or Caveboy - was indeed one of the original Teen Titans
Ibby has it!
Caveboy! wow.
this is an interesting Titans origin.
According to Changeling, what animal does everyone ask him to become?
Thoth has it! Lian asked Gar to do the monkey. Gar went, why does everyone want the monkey???
Over to thothy
Why would anyone want to see a monkey? They always make me think they're going to throw feces
I guess if people know it's the green monkey, it's Gar and he wouldn't quite do that...
The Teen Titans finally track Cliff Steete, Robotman, down. He's in Uganda. But what's he doing there?
While Krypton Kid gets style points for making me read "Ze Brain" with an accent, Andy has it.
The Titans were looking for Robotman who was looking for Steve Dayton who was looking for Madame Rouge who was looking for a good therapist.
Over to you Andy.
Mais oui!
Errr, ok...
Which Titan acted as a therapist when the rest of the team was in mourning?
Raven? (too obvious I think)
Not Lillith (though that's a great guess considering her new version)
Not Donna
Which Titan acted as a therapist when the rest of the team was in mourning?
Hint: He was only a Teen Titan for a short time
Not:
Raven
Lilith (good guess considering she's now a therapist)
Solstice
Donna
Garfield
Azrael: Let's not talk about your problems. Let's talk about mine, namely Liliiiiiiith!

Solstice

Atom
Azrael (either of them)
Did Kid Eternity ever join?
Kid: They're not really dead. Look! I'll bring 'em back for a minute!
Mourner: Waaaaaah!
He did but he didn't do much. Except get kidnapped
Hope he doesn't do that to Pantha or Bushido...
Prysm?
Did Kid Eternity ever join?
Kid: They're not really dead. Look! I'll bring 'em back for a minute!
Mourner: Waaaaaah!
An odd use of an already odd power. But totally accurate.
Kid E sits with each Titan and offers them moments with the deceased. It's weird. I'm guessing that the writer had never actually gone to therapy (since mine has never offered to do that).
Also, this is why Kid E gets kidnapped. To provide Calculator with moments with his dead kid.
Over to you Thoth!
Crumbs! That's a bit creepy.
New Q soon.
When the Titans of today were in conflict with the grown up Titans of tomorrow, both acted against Starro possessed villains in different ways.
But can you give me any two of the villains who had been taken over by Starro?
I just picked up this arc for $1 each. LOL
Scorch and Brimstone
That'll do nicely. I don't even have to bother to check back. I saw Prometheus in there, but wonder how it got past his helmet. Mind you, it must have been a big replica Starro for Brimstone.
Over to you Andy!
Yeah I was thinking the same thing about Prometheus and Brimstone. BUT that particular arc was pretty wonky in terms of writing ...
Now, as for the Q...
The Titans were part of two cross-company crossovers (not counting DC vs. Marvel or Amalgam)... One official and one unofficial ... which two (other company-owned) teams did they meet?
X-Men is one...
Uh... Zoo Crew?
X-Men is one!
... and Zoo Crew is not (they're owned by DC)
Blacula has it-
The DNAgents were a property of Eclipse Comics. They appeared in the Teen Titans as the ReCombatants in a bizarre non-crossover with the Titans (who also appeared in the DNAgents book as Project Youngblood).
Over to you, Blacula!
I sort of liked the ReCombatants so I always thought it was a bit weird and depressing that they all just died at the end of the issue and then no one ever mentioned them again. It wasn't until many years later that I discovered they were based on another company's characters. If the DCU's history still mattered half a damn I wouldn't have minded a Titans writer bringing them back for an issue and doing something interesting with them.
---
Sorry for the uninspired question but I'm not feeling particularly creative today:
In honor of my 39th Birthday which was a couple of months ago, who was the 39th member of the Titans?
Same here! I thought it would have been cool to add them to the larger Titans-verse, maybe having one of them join under a different name (so that the secret organization couldn't find them again).
I had the DNA Agents one, but my other team crossover was going to be the DEA in the drugs awareness issue
On Blacula's question, was it Kyle Rayner? (bit of a guess)
Sorry for the uninspired question but I'm not feeling particularly creative today:
In honor of my 39th Birthday which was a couple of months ago, who was the 39th member of the Titans?
39 is a nice age to be
Damage?
I
In honor of my 39th Birthday which was a couple of months ago, who was the 39th member of the Titans?
Ahhh 39... I remember it well... enjoy that last stretch before... THE 40S...
And I'm going to guess Argent?
I wonder if I can permanently lock my age at 39 on my online dating profiles? haha
Q: In honor of my 39th Birthday which was a couple of months ago, who was the 39th member of the Titans?
NOT:
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Damage
Argent
CLUE:
This character joined somewhere in-between Robin (Dick Grayson) and Solstice.
GREAT CLUE!
LOL
One of my friends keeps the same handle on one of the dating sites that he's had since he was 20. He's now 35. I tell him that the "boy" handle needs to be dropped. Or move to Florida (where everyone is a "boy" to someone!).
What about Atom?
Wow! What a clue...
Rose Wilson?
One of my friends keeps the same handle on one of the dating sites that he's had since he was 20. He's now 35. I tell him that the "boy" handle needs to be dropped. Or move to Florida (where everyone is a "boy" to someone!).
Haha I shouldn't criticise because I've only just updated my profile pics for the first time in about 10 years, but grown men who call themselves "Boy" (or, even worse, "Boi"
) are deal-breakers for me.
What about the Atom?! He'd be the correct answer! Well done, Andy! With something like 80 Titans in history, this question had the potential to go on and on, but you nipped it in the bud. You were close with your Argent guess earlier too. Someone knows the finer details of their Titans history!
LOL I just did a quick estimate and realized that the Argent team was the one most likely to be the folks in the 30s
Of course I thought that Atom was too obvious in that lineup
I will say one thing about the dating life online, I put my actual age on my profile (44) and most people tell me to put 39 because people don't believe it's a current pic AND younger people say "oh I didn't talk to you because you were over 40 but I totally would talk to you" ... errr... yeah
Now for the Q...
Which Titan ally did not understand how they were threadbare?
Gnaark?
Re age, I am fond of older men though it does seem that is not very common. Many of the guys who approach me think I'm 21 when I'm 28...
Oh wow.. 21? That's YOUNG
LOL
No Gnaark
GREAT CLUE! One of my friends keeps the same handle on one of the dating sites that he's had since he was 20. He's now 35. I tell him that the "boy" handle needs to be dropped.
Yeah, it's just silly for grown ups to be calling themselves something like boy - thoth ...um...lad
Argent?
Lad is so much better than "boi" IMO
Not Argent
This is a Titans ally
I was thinking of going with Squire thoth, retaining the youthful nomenclature...of the 18th century...
Arella?
Which Titan ally did not understand how they were threadbare?
Not:
Argent
Gnaark
Arella

Haha I should point out that I do make an exception for all Legionnaires and their admirers!
Re: the Q - Phantasm?
Not Azrael nor Phantasm (but that would make sense, considering what the costume is made out of)
HINT: It was a friend of Donna's
Donna's college roommate who I'm totally forgetting the name of but was a bridesmaid at her wedding?
Sharon maybe?
I remember the character but not the name either.
Not Sharon and I'm not sure if it's the unnamed character Ibby remembers
Hmm, I really have no idea.
One of her photographer friends?
One of her photographer friends?
Definitely NOT...
I mean, who is Donna Troy anyway?
Sounds a bit like a trick Q...
I wonder if she had any pets on Themyscira...
Pets? That's just offensive ... lol
They're her FRIENDS
Hey, a pet can be a friend!
No Comet, I didn't mean it THAT way. Hey, hey, no need to kick me...!
Oh these Titanic friends ...
Which Titan ally did not understand how they were threadbare?
HINT: They are a Titans ally (not a member)
They are a friend of Donna's
They appeared in a Who is Donna Troy? story
They are not pets, they are her Titanic friends

Phantasm
Argent
Gnaark
Arella
Azrael
Sharon
Donna's photographer friends
Comet
Some character Ibby can't name
Titanic? Hmm, Teen Titans or Titans of Myth?
Let's go with...
Cyclops of myth?
Another hint: this was their direct translation when Gar said "not too shabby"
It's not a post crisis Wonder Woman is it?
Blacula has it!
Xanthi, the cuddly furry Titan who was raised with Donna in the revamped origin, mistranslated shabby directly.
I really liked those characters
Over to you, Blacula!
I really liked Xanthi too.
SECRET FACT: If I ever write the Legion, I'll absolutely add a member of Xanthi's race to the team.
Probably a super-easy question:
Which Titan has Casey Kasem (the famous American disc-jockey) played, and where?
SECRET FACT: If I ever write the Legion, I'll absolutely add a member of Xanthi's race to the team.
Awesome idea. Wolfman created a lot of great characters
I'm going to say the famous radio host played Aqua Lad in the 1980s classic Teen Wave
Did he voice Robin in one of the old Scooby-Doo cartoons?
Well I thought people might guess the more obvious Super-Friends cartoons but yes, he voiced Robin (and Shaggy) when he guest-starred in the various Scooby-Doo series' too.
In fact, I was surprised to discover when checking your answer Future that Robin's appearances in Scooby-Doo pre-dated the start of the Super-Friends. Interesting.
Over to you.
Neat! I knew he didn't voice Robin in Superfriends. Casey Kasem's most noteworthy voice-work outside of radio is Shaggy, so it seemed like a feasible leap. I can't unhear it now in my head.
Jericho held hostages at D'Olivia in New York City during the "Deathtrap" crossover. He didn't take kindly to a Titan trying to talk to one of his hostages ... so he shot the Titan in the head. The shot luckily only grazed the scalp.
Who did Joey shoot?

Who did Joey shoot?
Whoops. My post wasn't clear enough. I meant I was expecting people to guess
Super-Friends because he
did voice Robin in that show. He voiced Robin in pretty much all of his cartoon appearances in that era.
Re: the Q - I'll say Beast Boy?
Ah! Then that's my mistake, and maybe why the voice is so distinctly Kasem in my head.
Not Cyborg, though the logistics of his survival would make sense. Not Beast Boy either.
Not Bombshell.
Hint - this Titan was an active member at the time I believe, though they really shouldn't have been.
Not any version of Terra.
Jericho held hostages at D'Olivia in New York City during the "Deathtrap" crossover. He didn't take kindly to a Titan trying to talk to one of his hostages ... so he shot the Titan in the head. The shot luckily only grazed the scalp.
Who did Joey shoot?
It wasn't...
Beast Boy
Bombshell
Cyborg
Ravager
Supergirl
Talon
Terra I or II
Hints: The character was an active Titan, though they probably shouldn't have been. Of those guessed, other Titans present for this shooting include Beast Boy and Ravager.
Ibby has it.
Kid/Red Devil had been depowered at that point but was still a member of the team. When he broke rank to approach a hostage, he was shot at pretty close range in the head. Miraculously, it was a graze and he was perfectly fine.
I guessed that your clue, that the member should not have been, meant someone depowered. And Kid Devil fit the bill.
Okay...
Which four female Titans did Jaime Reyes compare to those popular girls in his high school?
Supergirl, Aquagirl, Wonder Girl, and Ravager?
Supergirl, Miss Martian, Wonder Girl, and Ravager?
Correct! Over to you Future
That was when I jumped ship from the book. Whoops?
Which Titan felt so inferior to the team that they psychosomatic made themselves sick, and quit the team when they figured it out?
Surprise! It was indeed Aqualad.
I seem to remember him doing that in the early years! But I can't remember if it was actually published then, or a retcon.
It was published in the early years. Two issues before the first series ends, he shows back up to explain his illnesses and absence have been from his own lack of self worth. And before you can feel bad for him, he quits over it and vanishes.
Aw. Poor Garth.
Okay, let's see...
Which fellow Russian did Red Star once confront over his/her defection?
Negative Woman. Love the 70s Doom Patrol.
Very correct! And I agree, I did like that version of the team.
Over to you Blacula.
OK this one is sort of a biggie.
One of my favourite adverts in 80s DC comics was that awesome full-page, George Perez-drawn advert for 'Teen Titans Spotlight' that portrayed cute head-shots of various Titans-related characters.
I count 42 identifiable characters in the image (although a handful are heavily obscured and one in particular is my best guess based on the sliver of them that is visible).
Please name all 42 characters in the image.
As usual:
1. Please limit your guesses to the number of characters unidentified; and
2. The winner is the person who identifies the last remaining character.

I think they have it, but just to bump this up, I'll go a different route...
a Gordanian?
Sorry for holding this thread up everyone. Only 1 character to go now. And warning: it's an OBSCURE one! Even a Titans aficionado like me is stumped. I just dug up an old issue to check if it is who I suspect it is... and it's not!
So I'll post a link to the pic and the winner is the first person to identify the character in between Bethany Snow and Frances Kane (second row from bottom). If no one gets it, then IB wins for correctly identifying the second-last character, Bethany Snow.

Of the Titans of myth? I thought it was one of them at first too but after just checking the issues they appeared in, it doesn't seem to be.
Cronus for example has short red hair and no beard.
Hmmmmm you're right.
It could be Koriand'r's dad, but the pigment is off
Hmmm... I dunno - give it to Ibby
I got nothing. It looks like it might be a Titan, but I trust Blacula's checking and memory.
Looks like it will remain a mystery. I'd love to see the full unobstructed version of this image one day. I'd love to know what other chacters are hidden behind the spotlight. I wonder if George Perez has the original tucked away somewhere.
Over to you IB.
Thanks, guys.
Nice Q, Blacula. Maybe one day we will know for sure.
Okay...
In JLA/Titans, Duela Dent claimed to be whose daughter for the first time?
LOL sigh ... I remembered her saying it - and since I'm a Duela fan...
New Q up soon
What was the original conflict in Hatton Corners that brought the Titans together?
Bromwell Stikk became Mr. Twister and was abducting the town's younger population as "backpay" for rent owed to his ancestor.
That is what happened, but that's not the original conflict that brought Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad there
Oh! I believe those three were contacted because the parents of the town were worried about their kids?
Nope
I just reread it and forgot how ridiculous it was
Uh...
Kids playing music that was too loud?
Kids weren't listening to their parents?
Kids weren't listening to their parents?
in what way? What were they asking for?
They didn't want to go to school?
They wanted to listen to loud, loud music?
What was the original conflict in Hatton Corners that brought Robin, Aqualad and Kid Flash together?
NOT:
Bromwell Stikk became Mr. Twister and was abducting the town's younger population as "backpay" for rent owed to his ancestor (while this is the conflict in the story, this is not the original conflict)
Kids not listening to their parents
Kids playing music too loud or wanting to listen to loud, loud music
Parents were worried about their kids
Kids didn't want to go to school
Kids didn't want to do chores?
Nope. It's not that they didn't want something, but rather they wanted soemthing
They wanted to... burn down the school?
LOL definitely NOT something that would have been in a comic book at the time (but funny to think about)
They wanted to... build an ugly statue?
Nope. They wanted to build something though!
This is the closest. The teens wanted a club house to dance in at night. The adults refused to build it and instead installed a curfew. The teens called in Aqua Lad for help, Batman sent Robin in to see what was wrong, and Kid Flash offered to check in on the situation for the Flash since Kid Flash wasn't so "square" that he wouldn't get the club house.
Cause teens, they want to have fun!
Oh yeah, THEN Mr. Twister went for his crimes
Over to you Blacula!
I don't have an answer to this question, but going back to the last one, I'm rather certain that the bearded mystery character in that picture is supposed to be Starfire's father (My'andr, I think his name was), even if he is a little mis-colored in the image.
Thanks CMK. I just refreshed my memory of what My'andr looks like and I think you're right.
Re: Andy's question. I think "disco" could be the answer to a lot of questions about that period in Titans history.
Speaking of which, here's an easy one to keep the game moving because I'm a bit busy at the moment:
In what type of establishment did the Titans first meet Lilith?
Yeah, wasn't she a dancer? Was that Gabriel's Horn? The *name* of the disco, not what Mal thought about Lilith's dancing.
IB is obviously correct. The name of the disco was the 'Canary Cottage' and Lilith was a dancer there in a very risqué little number made of yellow feathers (still a better outfit than anything she's worn since becoming Omen).
As I recall, Gabriel's Horn was the disco that the Titans base was hidden underneath (later bought by Mal I think).
Ah, I couldn't recall if they conveniently met her at what would turn out to be their new HQ. As teams do. Among the funniest was the JLA meeting Vibe while out shopping.
Redhead, mysterious powers... shades of Jean Grey!
Okay let's see... uh...
In JLA/Titans, which Titan put Aquaman in a bad mood, by destroying an alien ship over the ocean?
Re: Andy's question. I think "disco" could be the answer to a lot of questions about that period in Titans history.
It's the same in my life
It was indeed Damage!
Power Girl was trying to stop a falling alien ship, but it was too close... so Damage destroyed it. Aquaman agreed with the plan of action, but was irked that he would have to clean up the debris.
The Teen Titans once tried to set up a charity during their "no powers" phase. Whom did they want to help?
Kids who need financial support to study?
Q: The Teen Titans once tried to set up a charity during their "no powers" phase. Whom did they want to help?
Not...
Homeless
Kids who need financial support to study
Drug users
Discos?
Q: The Teen Titans once tried to set up a charity during their "no powers" phase. Whom did they want to help?
Not...
Homeless
Kids who need financial support to study
Drug users
Abandoned pets
Single parents
Discos
War vets
HINT: This group of people could also be some of your guesses.
People with disabilities?
Nope. You have to remember the 60s
I wasn't even born in the 60s
hmmm....
Refugees from war?
Nope
I'll just toss this one to you, Ibby, as I'm busy all day tomorrow
The Teen Titans solicited for a charity to help criminals reform, particularly young kids and first time offenders
Cool, thanks Myg.
When the Titans reformed after JLA/Titans, we saw two former Titans (outside of the personal picks of the original five) who declined offers of membership.
Who were these two?
One correct. The other didn't appear.
Jesse Quick only to accept later on down the line?
Gar Logan and ... Duela Dent?
No. She was one of those who wanted to be asked, but was not.
Gar Logan and Wally West?
Nope. Wally was one of the original who went out and made offers to people.
Hint: Roy was the one who offered to get this second Titan on the team
Matrix Superirl it was! Over to you thoth
Less of the leching, but because she was on his team on that one. But no doubt there would have been leching involved.
How did the H.I.V.E. Mistress take over H.I.V.E.?
You know Roy too well, thoth. I wish there had been no leching. It's getting so that I wish Roy had lost another body part instead of his arm...
She killed her husband, the former HIVE leader?
... I wish Roy had lost another body part instead of his arm...
I'm sure the spirit of that dead alley cat feels exactly the same.
She did indeed kill her husband, the former leader. On the first read it came across as filler to go between the regular and offset titles. Although her plan was an old school one, the HIVE Mistress didn't come across as your maniacally laughing supervillain.
I think the plan probably came from her husband or one of the villains that joined him. Looking back, she's actually something quite different. While it may not make her the most effective villain, like Glorith, it certainly makes her memorable.
O'er to you Ibby!
I remember the HIVE Mistress talking like a nice, delicate old lady. Oh well, just goes to show you can't judge people based on their looks...
I mean, Roy looked like such a nice upstanding young man, and look what happened to him...
Okay, looking for a random question, uh...
Which Legionnaire did Argent strike up a friendship with during Titans/Legion Universe Ablaze?
It was Cos!
I have blotted out most of that vapid story from my mind, though.
Over to you thothy.
Something else else must have stayed with me for that guess, but I don't recall much about it either.
Speaking of blotting things out of mind, how did the Titans overcome the traumas they suffered after the battle where Trigon forced them to confront evil versions of themselves?
Raven and Lilith gave them therapy?
All the Titans killed their counterparts, and Lillith and Arella broke Raven's hold on them?
Myg gets points for knowing how the battle ends in the previous issue, but Ibby's closer on the therapy idea to get over it.
This particular therapy is particularly Titany (it
is a word
) and a way they use to find themselves. But How!? (as people watching BRM post to LW say)
Telepathic walk down memory lane?
Nope it was a physical place and the Titans had gone there before.
They went to the Grand Canyon to camp
They went to...
... the Grand Canyon. Well done Andy! It was a reprise of the 4 issue mini, where the group bonded and shared their origins.
Over to you Andy!
I remember that now! Good job!
Gar is the Titans "big gun" for something ... What is it?
Um... There's a very specific word he used to describe himself as the "big gun"
Not annoying the enemy
When he turns into an elephant?
Not turning into elephants (though in all fairness, no one else can do that on the team)
If there's someone you want dead/insane, just have them become Gar's legal guardian...
he's not the "big gun" of that. Ibby's first guess is closest
Turns into a very green Blue Whale, landing on villains. He cries "Call me Ishmael!" as he does it.
Big gun for confusion - he uses his powers to distract a group of bad guys by shapeshifting in quick succession?
Neither green Blue Whale nor confusion
I was thinking elephant shooting a jet of water. Uh... archer fish shooting a jet of water?
Not shooting a jet of water (ick)
Grabbed a bazooka from Deathstroke and opened fire?
LOL That's not it.
Gar refers to himself as the "Titans' big gun of..." when jumping into a fight
Big gun of squashing people?
nope. It's more a characteristic
Big gun of hugs? He used to annoy the others by being koala's or snakes and things.
It's connected to him being annoying, but it's not the physical stuff
Big gun of annoying combat badinage and quips?
Big gun of celebrity - because he was in Space Trek?
I'm giving it to Ibby. Gar describes himself as the Titans' big gun of sarcasm when fighting Jericho in the Titans series before stomping him as a t-rex
Awesome! Thanks Myg
Lessee...
In JLA/Titans, who did Terra II try to bury in a fist of rock?
Yes! It was Wonder Woman.
Terra apologized after, and Wonder Woman gracefully accepted.
Which 7 deadly sins could Raven's brothers wield?
These aren't the Catholic ones then? Uh oh. But let's see...
Envy
Gluttony
Pride
Wrath
Greed
Lust
Sloth
Err I should be more specific. They could wield one per brother. So which ones did the trio wield?
Oh... I thought there were 7 brothers in all
Envy
Pride
Wrath
And I think they were going to introduce 7 brothers but the series got cut quickly (it was a bad run)
Sloth came up next... and they just couldn't seem to get round to it.
LOL that would explain the writing
I was sure Lust was in there, Roy Harper would hve been an easy target...
Pride
Wrath
Gluttony
Hmmm, I was certain last night that Pride and Wrath were both correct, but as 2 guesses ago I'm not sure anymore...
Pride
Wrath
Sloth
You got it!
Lust got Roy and Donna, and Kory and Dick, all wrapped up.
Over to you, Ibby!
Wow. Lust sure thrashed everyone. No effect on Roy as he already is full of Lust I bet
In Legion/Titans vs the Fatal 500, Superboy had to choose between bringing the Titans back to the 20th century or returning the Legion to the 30th.
Which Titan and which Legionnaire were in the foreground when he was choosing?
Big hint: both characters were romantically significant to him
Roy and he was chatting up... one of the Lus.
Lu is the Legionnaire.
Who is the Titan?
That was a good start. Robin?
Not Robin. Though I am sure they have had many, many dalliances in the imaginations of many fans.
Yes! Wonder Girl and Triad. A not so subtle reminder to Superboy. They didn't verbally nag him, but it was all in the body language
Didn't stop the Legion f4om getting lost in time and space though...
Over to you thothy!
Ah, it was your dalliance that got me thinking of the original Superboy and Lu and form there to the titans relationship.
New Q shortly... as I've a single titans issue nearby and I've already asked questions from it
How did Mal single-handedly defeat the Gargoyle?
Destroyed his Gabriel horn?
While extremely painful, Mal didn't destroy his opponent's Gabriel's horn.
Nothing was dropped on the Gargoyle. The thing that was used, was really heavy but wasn't moved to tackle the villain.
Destroyed a machine that allowed the Gargoyle to traverse the dimensions into our world?
Played a song on the piano?
Played a song on the piano?
As much as I'd love to have seen the Gargoyle running away shouting "Not Show tunes! Anything But That!"...
Destroyed a machine that allowed the Gargoyle to traverse the dimensions into our world?
... Mal instead fixed an error on the computer that brought Gargoyle here in the first place. So, Ibby's close enough for the win.
It was an issue of self doubt for Mal, wondering about his place on the team. Someone had clearly been reading too many Legion issues to him about Chuck & Lu, and it wore off.
Over to you Ibby!
Oh Mal. He should have read up on Tenzil instead.
Okay, hmmm...
Kole appeared in the Teen Titans Go animated series. But name one thing about her powers that was different from the comics.
Ummm.... never seen one.... hoping Ibby has mentioned this before...
She can't fly?
That is one, so over to you thothy
Another is that she does not create crystal. She turns into it. Boooring.
That was going to be my next guess actually. It does seem really dull. But I guess they could sell a crystal version toy more easily.
Thinking about it. I've no idea why the original version could fly either. A gift from the gods?
It doesn't seem to have the in depth scientific reasoning that a Human Torch flight & flame powers has.
New Q... actually hang on....
What reason did Donna give for not helping Vic n Gar find Mento?
She was busy resolving a Terry Long tantrum?
Close enough...no, I think you're spot on. I'm sure it got there. It was part of Marv Wolfman's cry for help over his writer's block as seen through his proxy Long Whine.
Terry needed help to write his paper, and Donna had a conflict of priorities. Considering how long they had been together, Terry could have picked up the needed material over breakfasts, but was clearly too busy impresses co eds.
Over to you Ibby!
Ugh, I remember that. The team was falling apart and Terry was being a whiny baby, and Kole had just died in COIE too. Bah!
In Convergence, Kole tries to kiss Jericho and he pushes her away.
Later, she goes to him to tell him that she understands him. As part of this, she creates a crystal object on his painting. What object is that?
It was not an animal..thoth's guess is still closer
It was a tree! I don't know if it was the writer's way of saying that Jericho could go on and flower...
Over to you Jiffy Pop!
A whole tree? I was so close. >sob< that's it. I'm
leafing in a huff
Oops. Crude Now I have to think. Ow! That hurts. I will get one today.
It's tough finding Titans questions.
You can do it, thoth! We believe in you!
That's nice, but it's not my turn to ask
Oops! I just have such confidence in you
for Jiffy pop!
Oh Noes! JPops must have tried to find a question...but..but..>choke< must have accidentally picked up all the Azrael issues and has lapsed into a angsty, tear filled coma! >sob!>
If there's no new question within a couple of days, I think it's fair for anyone who wants to ask a new one.
Sorry guys but my third body that read all the back issues of Teen Titans was also killed off by Computo. I am going to have to pass the baton on to another since I am hearing nothing but static for a new question. Please feel free to take my turn.
Why did Jason Hart join the Teen Titans?
Despite being 120, Jason's powers of rejuvination enabled him to infiltrate the team as a very creepy member. Although still trapped using 1960's slang, even the main team knew that Jason's use of Victorian terms was wrong.
I know that ONE!!! But I am not committing that sin again and be stuck once again trying to come up with a question. So I am zipping it.
There are actually TWO answers...
He was an agent of a supervillain?
He was an agent of a supervillain?
And that was not one of them
He was actually another member, taking on the Jason Hart identity. This was done in order to catch the person who was impersonating his first identity on the team.
He was actually another member, taking on the Jason Hart identity. This was done in order to catch the person who was impersonating his first identity on the team.
Could Thoth have cracked the code?
Nope
Jason Hart is the identical, and adopted twin, of Jason Todd. Hart joins the Titans after Jason Todd goes missing. He learns that Todd has been killed as Robin and looks to use the Titans link with Batman to find out why. Ironically, he's beaten to death by a crowbar wielding Duela Dent?
He wanted to protect his schoolmates from drugs?
He wanted to sell drugs to his schoolmates from Roy Harper's stash?
No, no and NO
But one of the two possible answers involves DRUGS (though none of Roy's since by this time, Roy is sober)
Jason Hart was one of the kids from the Titans drugs special. He was so impressed by Robin, he vowed to turn his life around.
Unfortunately, just before publication, Robin was retconned into being the Protector, due to previous commercial tie in commitments. Unable to deal with reality warping around him, and now with no role model, Jason Hart had a breakdown. His fractured personality impersonated each of the Titans to find out the truth behind the Multiverse.
Who can forget the Crisis of Titans epic that brought us alternate Earth issues such as: the Punk Titans; as the Young Republicans versus Brother Bliss; the searing self reflection in the alt+Romance issue: "We were Terry Long's Wingmen"? Titans International when the annoying Danny Chase got the emerald ring and became the really obnoxious Green Phantasm? And what about that finale during Ragnarok as Donna Odinsdottir helps to bring the cycle to an end, and fire sweeps across the Earth? In the reborn world, Jason Hart is healed and his destructive identity as the Anti-Titan is no more.
THOTH! YOU HAVE CRACKED THE CODE.
You got both answers.
Jason Hart did indeed join at the drug special. He was inspired by Robin and so (of course) Jason became the Protector after his cousin died of a drug overdose
Also, Robin had to be remade as the Protector due to commercial licensing issues at the house of DC. (in one of the specials, you can still see the Robin costume underneath the Protector coloring)
Over to you!

I wish you were a Titans editor. The vision!
I think the Green Phantasm and Guy Gardner would star the new Green Lanterns book
THOTH! YOU HAVE CRACKED THE CODE.
You got both answers.

Over to you!
Ah, so Jason Hart
was The Protector. I didn't remember that. Fortunately waffling on got me the dubious victory of having to find a Titans question.
I remember thinking that The Protector was very much like a character you'd see from the Champions RPG,. Someone, who was very much like an existing character, but built by the numbers. In a good way. Of course. Perez did some of the art for Champions too, which connected it further.
I wish you were a Titans editor. The vision!
Aw, thanks Andy!
Still have to come up with a question though...
A pregnant Mother Mayhem turns against Brother Blood. But what made her do it?
Blood wanted to sacrifice her child?
Mother Mayhem was jealous of Raven ?
Blood wanted to sacrifice her child?
It was not.
Mother Mayhem was jealous of Raven ?
She was indeed! Mayhem sabotaged the equipment that Blood was using for power, after he seemed to choose Raven as his new companion. Over to you Andy!
Hmmm... Yeah I vaguely remember the scene
new Q up soon
Ok I forgot about this ...
Let's go with something straightforward - Which character betrayed the Titans to the Citadel?
Not the magnificent, winged incredibly whiny Azrael
Ah, wrong one. Her sister Demonia?
YES... It was her sister Demonia, that snake!
Over to you Thoth
What made Chris King encounter the Teen Titans?
It was indeed. Victoria Grant risked ruin by having a couple of good nights out. Before she knew it, she had been hooked on drugs and become a disciple of the Children of the Sun. A fate that surely awaits us all, should we seek to dabble in "night life."
Over to you Ibby!
I remember reading about the fate of poor Vicki Grant
Hmmm...
Which two heroes did Kole save from Black Adam?
thoth has it! one of my fave scenes from COIE. Kole was such an effective hero....
Crumbs. That shows you how often I must have read it that I answered that one without thinking about it.
New hairy chested, angst feathered question soon.
I'm like that when it comes to questions about comics I've read tons of times, too...
But sometimes, I wish I could wipe the memories away.
Alas, poor Kole...
It's a shame she was earmarked for death all the way through. Because If Wolfman had got his way, the whole DC universe would have restarted at the end of issue 10 with the last 2 being the History of the DCU. That would have meant no room for anomalies such as Earth 2 Robin and Huntress. They may have just vanished, or snuffed it earlier. Perhaps Kole wouldn't have had to go. he could have got rid of Duela Dent (as Infinite Crisis did) instead or Speedy (if they were going to reboot the Green Arrow series) or something like that.
Still thinking of new question - or rather too lazy to go to the box with the titans index issues in it.
Wolfman said in one of his intros that Kole was created because he felt like he had to sacrifice one or two of his creations, so other writers would agree to sacrifice theirs. Sigh. He could have chosen whiny Azrael, but no...
But you're right, if COIE had ended in issue 10, perhaps Kole might have survived... she made it all the way to the end... *sob*
Harbinger: Right. Thankfully, the Anti Monitor has agreed to just stand there for the whole issue. So, first Negative Woman will surround him, then we'll use all the sorcerer's to contaminate his shadow demons, then...
Kole: Um.. would anyone here like a chandelier? There are a lot of them around since I turned the Anti-Monitor to crystal.
Harbinger: Oh...um...thanks. Would someone tell Pariah that he doesn't need to cry this issue. That gives us plenty of time to figure out how to get Alexander back... oh here's a boom tube.. that was easy. Id' hate to think of all the rubbish sequels that might have happened if we hadn't got everyone back.
Everyone: Thanks Kole!
And the Anti-Monitor Chandelier ended up being a great decoration for the Hall of Justice!
Where obviously Kole, having saved the multiverse would be an honoured member. This is all *much* better....
Ah, what could have been...
No, what SHOULD have been! 😉
>sniff< As I was looking for a question (and believe me that took a while) I came across a Titans story called Crystal Chaos written well after Kole's death. Just for a moment, I wondered, but it's about something else.
So, how did the Titans finally cure Steve Dayton?
Alas
Whenever I see the word a Crystal, I shed a tear for poor Kole. Grife help me if Crystal Kid is featured in a story...
I think they wrecked his Mento helmet?
Nopes. At least not in this one.
They triggered his memories?
They did, but can you also tell me how they did this?
Aqua Lad got stuck in a telepathic war with him when they both relived the deaths of Rita Far and Aqua Girl
Raven made him relive his past traumas?
Bump
Additional
for thoth
Ibby's close enough for the Win! They used the comic cliché of combining wills to make Dayton relive better times. Over to you Ibby.
Yay!
Raven once infected several former Titans and allies with demonic "seeds". One of these allies brought his/her ex to Raven as a "sacrifice". Who was this Titan or ally?
Starfire and Dick Grayson?
Wally West and Frances Kane?
Wally West and Frances Kane?
It was Frances, though the ex wasn't Wally. I don't know if the poor guy was ever named
Over to you thothy!
Ah, I misread the question. I thought you were looking for an Titan/ ally & the partner there. There be lots o those folks what c'n read out thur. But, Do they get t'ask next questshun? They dough nut.
New Q soon...
How did Gnarrk and Donna test each other's strength?
It was indeed arm wrestling! Gnarrk let Donna win. While that indicated he was stronger than portrayed, I can't imagine him beating Donna under any circumstances. Gnarrk had become an eloquent sophisticate by this issue, and he reminds me of an early Hank McCoy in personality and dialogue.
Over to you Ibby!
Wow, that was a complete shot in the dark...!
Kole resurfaced in the Team Titans comic (if it really was her...). What kind of creature did she help defeat with her crystals?
Hmm who knew?
New Q up in a bit
Have the Vampires caught Andy?
Now i'm worried about hanging out with Andy at night
They're terrible
Sorry been busy with setting up in San Diego and without steady WiFi
Ok... Duela Dent claimed to be 6 different villains' daughter... name them!
Joker
Penguin
Two-Face
Doomsday (she did once!)
Riddler
Catwoman
I forgot about Doomsday! I was thinking of wildebeest
Nike job, Ibby
Thanks Andy! I remembered her claiming to be Wildebeest's daughter, but wasn't sure if it was the villain or the Titan Baby Wildebeest.
Okay, let's see...
Kole had a very short-lived tenure. During her time, she helped the Titans solve a case involving which supernatural creature?
no to both
her mom wasn't a goddess or anything, she was a normal human mutated into a bug
i'm not counting her involvement in her introduction story either.
Oh I thought Cerberus was a winner there.
A ghost?
A ghost it was! Kole took part in investigating what seemed to be a ghost.
Yay! I remember that one as a slightly different issue, with Nightwing doing some detective work. Speaking of Kole though, here's some panels of her, as she returns from limbo in 1990s Animal Man
gasp! she is not forgotten after all!
Certainly not here >sniff<
Argent convinced Atom to reform the Titans. But why couldn't Risk make the try outs?
He was in jail.He watched them reform with Mammoth (I think) which got him into trouble.
Over to you Ibby!
cool!
Okay...
in Titans/JLA, name the two Titans who sided with the Justice League.
Yes! Ray Palmer and Kyle Rayner, understandably, felt more loyal to the JLA.
Wally, as a long time Titans member, sided with them in their desire to help Cyborg.
Ah, in my head it was Wally's choice to go with the Flash legacy having been with the league for a while, while Kyle... oh.. actually I didn't think that through ...
Brainy will forgive you for your lack of logic
Thank you...or him... say, does this "Brainy" happen to be visible?
Have you seen this Brainy before?
Can this Brainy duplicate, making picking one of them out tougher?
I wonder if all this off-topic posting has made Blacula realize he has the next round?
Is this Brainy also immaterial at times, making him even harder to stop?
(Blacula, we miss you!)
Who was the first active Titan (so, not Wally who had succumbed in an earlier Annual) to be Eclipsoed during the Eclipso: The Darkness Within event?
Nightwing in his own book?
Not Nightwing (I don't think he'd received his own book yet at the time of this event) or Starfire.
Red Star is correct! Captain Hall turned him. Whatever happened to that supporting character anyway?
I don't even remember Captain Hall...
hmmm...
who shattered Kole's crystal wall, causing her to hastily throw up a crystal shield to save herself?
I don't even remember Captain Hall...
Don't you remember the barbeque? You must remember his wife Beryl and the kids Ralph and Skipper!
That was the day Captain (which as we all know is his first name) put too much lighter fluid on the flames and set Terry Long's chest hair alight.
who shattered Kole's crystal wall, causing her to hastily throw up a crystal shield to save herself?
Dont remember this at all
Starfire before they were team mates?
oh yeah! i must have missed it because I enjoyed gossiping about all these side characters
no, it wasn't Kory
this happened after Kole joined up
Yeah, these questions are beginning to get in the way of a good gossip
Was it Doctor Light?
Nope. Alas, these two favorites of mine never worked together, nor did they fight one another.
I thought it was too good to be true. But what a good Crisis moment it would have been. Weren't they both around the magically appearing fork in NYC?
Was it Harbinger?
Was it Azreal?
the winged crying guy, not the Batman replacement.
Batman Azrael wouldn't have put up with the whine fest the book had become for a minute! I think he was young enough to qualify for the Titans, if not the teen variety.
Not Harbinger,
and not stupid whiny winged Azrael, who should have died in Crisis instead of Kole!
who shattered Kole's crystal wall, causing her to hastily throw up a crystal shield to save herself?
Not:
Starfire
Doctor Light
Harbinger
Azrael (winged whiny Azrael)
I picked up all these issues out of sequence years later, so Kole's chronology is always a little disjointed for me. Nightwing, Jericho and Kory were off in space for her wedding thingy... and by the time they came back there was a Nightwing/ Wondy confrontation.
Was it Gorgon of the Hybrid?
You are thinking of the correct era. No, it wasn't Gorgon.
and now I remember that if Jericho had allowed Kole to come along, she might not have died... *sob*
We had seen him contacted by a number of ladies. Now they all seemed to be chasing him. We know that Kole had developed an attachment to him. So he takes the first opportunity to leave the planet.
I think Marv was trying to show us that Joe was a caring part of a number of people's lives. But it could just as easily be read that he's a manipulative git.
Was it Mento?
Yes, it was Mento!
I think Jericho's portrayal there was realistic. "Kole, I know you really want me, but I don't think it's appropriate, so maybe you should stay behind..."
I remember earlier scenes with Kole and Joe as being quite grown up for the time.
Of course Joe is really going so that he can have space babes zeta beam messages to his bachelor pad. Joe uses bachelor padding to build up those shoulders in his Wildebeest costume.
I don't remember the Mento v Kole scene, but I couldn't remember the names of the Hybrid with lasty powers
It was in the issue where Mento started going nuts. Kole tries to trap him, and he shatters her wall right back at her. She just manages to shield herself in time.
Of course Joe is really going so that he can have space babes zeta beam messages to his bachelor pad. Joe uses bachelor padding to build up those shoulders in his Wildebeest costume.
:
ugh, as if super horndog Roy weren't enough. diversity in personality please!
If you add in Mr Long to Joe and Roy... well...
Now I realize... Terry was a future version of Roy and Joe merged together! Red hair + curly hair +over the top creepiness...
All facets of Marv who, if memory serves, was going through some personal issues around that time. Revealing....
Disturbing that all those women seem to do nothing else than revolve around their lives. Obviously Marv had plenty of other strong male characters to balance it out. Nightwing wouldn't turn into a man slut until later on for example
The Titans are up against the Royal Flush Gang. But who's leading the Gang?
The Gambler II.
Love that story!
That's the one. I don't remember reading it before but it wasn't that bad. The Titans weren't quite as effective as they should have been when the plot needed it. Danny Chase got a decent run out too. Iwondeted if the reveal that it was the Gambler and not the Joker was more to appease the Bat editors , as it was done very early on.
I'm not sure. I don't think I realized until much later that there was even meant to be a misdirect with the Joker.
I barely paid attention to the Gambler/Joker though since pretty much all of my attention was on the Royal Flush Gang (who are probably my favorite DC villain team).
I think Speedy was in this story too, wasn't he? I know he popped back up around this time. If so, I was probably fixated on him too. Roy Harper as Speedy was my favorite DC character for most of my childhood. I lost so much interest in him when he became the mega-boring Arsenal.
---
Speaking of Arsenal, a symbol of which weapon was featured on his original costume?
Yes, Speedy was definitely in the mix
Was it a boomerang sort of shape?
The Royal Flush Gang story had the Thinker taking out Jack's eye in a mad Joker sort of way, but seemed determined on the second cover and elsewhere not to invite the additional sales from taking it further. I note this was just before Titans Hunt. Considering how difficult Wolfman was finding things, it wasn't hugely different from a number of earlier tales.
The Titans were white robed Raven, Troia Donna, Kory, Joey, Vic and Roy. Danny Chase got a lot of panel time which is hopefully why there wasn't a lot of characterisation on any of the others.
Tops cobber! You had a fair crack of the sauce bottle and came out fair dinkum! Your shout for questions.
---
I actually loved this whole period of Titans stories. After being in a slump for such a long time, I think Wolfman got some of his mojo back around the time the awesome Grummett/Vey took over art duties. I loved this story, that werewolf or whatever creature they were two parter, the Lonely Place of Dying crossover issues, the Deathstroke and Robin spotlight issues and of course the first half of Titans Hunt. I'm probably forgetting some too.

Beauty! New Q Shortly!

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I remember it as being a slump. But that's just going on the back issues collected much later. Titans Hunt seemed to take that start from the Judas Contract and I picked up the start of it. The new editor certainly got some energy back into the books, but perhaps not the depth or buy in which was a shame. I compared it a bit to the X-Men going into the siege perilous leaving behind support characters and allies to find them/ carry the torch.
Who was on the Titans team that went to Russia to find out what had happened to Cyborg in the Titans Hunt arc? There are six to get.
Pantha
Nightwing
Phantasm
Changeling
Speedy
Golden Eagle
Three correct
Pantha
Nightwing
Phantasm
Three to get...
Red Star
Baby Wildebeest
Starfire
Not any of those three.

Not
Changeling, Speedy, Golden Eagle, Red Star, Baby Wildebeest, Starfire
Three to get
Steve Dayton
Arella
Deathstroke
Andy gets the rest in a crystal clear answer (Hi Kole)
Over to you Andy!
Ah, c'mon. That was a nice reference.
It took me a minute to remember that Dayton and Arella were featured in the beginning of Titans Hunt - then Deathstroke was a no-brainer
Ok, now let me think of a Q...
What famous real world event brought Speedy and the Teen Titans together?
The death of JFK? There are rumours of a video where a Roy Harper arrow was responsible. "I did it for the wacky backy," shouted a pre heroin Harper.
The Olympic Games in... Tokyo?
Blacula has it! It WAS the Olympics
Over to you!
Who were the only 2 Titans to appear in live action on the show Smallville?
Tom Welling super-fan IB for the win! 😉
hah! i just remembered the posters I saw.
Okay...
Who warned Kole against returning to Earth?
nope
Who warned Kole against returning to Earth?
Not Thia, Zeus, Phoebe
Thia is the closest guess so far
also not him. he was dead then...
for that matter, so was Thia
Were they? Jeepers. I'm thinking of them all being around much later on. Wasn't Thia involved with the Children of the Sun? I guess this is a story I've not read much. Great art, whiny cast.
Speaking of whiny. Was it Azrael?
You may be overthinking.
Stupid whiny useless Azrael did not do that.
I thought it unlikely. 'Cause he *was* useless. Almost as much as he was whiny. I bet even his flying made a whiny noise as he moaned about his lost love while swooping overhead.
Speaking of Whiny Lost Loves Monthly. Was it Lilith? I know she was there at the start of the Baxter run, and she had precog powers.
It WAS Lilith! after Lilith found out she was Thia's daughter, she was getting ready to become an Olympian. she warned Kole of this and asked her to stay on Olympus for her safety. Alas, poor Kole didn't listen, and we all know what happened...
Whiny stupid Azrael can be the cupid for whiny people on Valentine's day
What unusual vehicle did the Titans travel in to get to Mr Jupiter's old town?
It was not a sailboat, but a type of something that travels across the land.
One of those old-timey, hand-cranked platform things that roll along train tracks (I clearly have no idea what they're called)?
Not that, and that was the correct name for them. Like your answer it is a variation of a common mode of transport, but not one that you'd normally take a drive in (unless you were of a particular profession).
Not a fire truck or an ambulance, but an ambulance is certainly along the right lines.
Yay! It was a hearse! Very in keeping with the creepy tone the book was trying to have at the time. Not to mention the Munsters model kits you used to see as ads in the books at some point too!
Over to you Blacula!
I loved that era although I don't think I've ever read that issue.

2-part question:
Cyborg's spotlight issue in Teen Titans Spotlight was the very first DC comic by
1. which famous comic book writer;
and featured
2. which famous non-Titans villain?
Kurt Busiek and Mirror Master?
Peter David and Bug Eyed Bandit?
Arguably more famous than both Kurt Busiek and Peter David.
Definitely more famous than Mirror Master and Bug-Eyed Bandit (except among entomologists).
Geoff Johns and the Joker
Hmmm I would say the writer is less famous than those two writers, although perhaps more well known among a certain segment of fandom.
The villain is probably in between those two character, in terms of fame.
Hmmmm that whole run is a vague blur for me but I'm sticking with Bat foes
How about Greg Rucka and Two Face?
Two-Face is correct! The story explored the similarities/differences of them both having half normal faces IIRC.
Greg Rucka is not correct but like Rucka, and some of the other guessed writers, this writer is also known for their non-comic book work.
Alright - I'm 50% there ... I had a vague recollection of Cyborg facing a bat foe (and thinking cool!)
Brian Michael Bendis?
Is this one that Chuck Patton drew?
I can't think past Kevin Smith even though it's wrong
I think Chuck Patton was the artist, yes.
No to both of them.
Random clue that would only help me:
This writer was probably both my favorite and least favorite writer in the shortly before Flashpoint era, based on two of the books they had.
There was a book called Rising Stars or something very much like that. It was written by someone who did TV work. Not watching any of that means I've no idea what his name was.
There was indeed a book called Rising Stars.
And it was indeed written by a writer who did TV work.
Who also wrote the excellent The Brave and the Bold and the woeful 'Grounded' story in Superman shortly before 'Flashpoint'.
But who, oh who could it have been?
There was a book called Rising Stars or something very much like that. It was written by someone who did TV work. Not watching any of that means I've no idea what his name was.
j michael straczynski - I have the whole series
Who I believe has retired from comics
Ahhh -- thanks for the clues or this would have taken forever!
New Q up in a bit ...
Which Titans once compared fangs ?
Sooooo close.... you got one right!
Pantha and the vampire guy from team titans?
Not Gar and Baby Wildebeest
Pantha and the vampire guy from team titans?
YES That's the one
How could you not remember Dagon the Nightrider? I mean, what a memorable character. An instant classic.
No?
Over to you, Thoth!
It gets a bit of flak, but the editor at the time did boost the Titans into a number of different titles. Of course, since the quality wasn't there, it could be argued that was the beginning of the end of the Titans into its own endless series of line up changes/relaunches. Never mind...
What was Battalion's profession in the Team Titan's future?
Batallion and Fringe should have a grunt-off for worst Titan ever.
Umm was he a school-teacher?
Not a teacher, but it is something at odds with the personality he appears in our time w8th.
Grunt off!!!!!
Is he a nurse?
Neither a nurse or a bus driver.
Not a librarian, but yeah it's something opposed to how you first see him.
Not a priest.
But he was a musician. A pianist to be precise. In the issue I saw, Lord Chaos bumps off his family.
Over to you Ibby!
Wow. I remember reading about that before, but I had completely forgotten. I guess your clues triggered a memory...
Like every time we talk about Kole /sob/
Speaking of,
Which Titan did Kole save from a nasty fall by creating a crystal pedestal? It still hurt though, because Kole had to ask her teammate to brace herself/himself.
I'm sure there was a scene where Cyborg's chair collapsed ( a fall) and Kole created a pedestal.
That sounds familiar, and so I'm giving it to you
I think that was after they returned from Olympus
The scene I am thinking of was in Convergence, where Kole saves a falling Starfire.
Yay!
New Q when it stops being sunny and I come back in from the garden.
What did Wally West do in his first Kid Flash adventure?
He stopped a bank robbery?
Run fast?
Didn't he find out who the Flash was?
Run fast?
No, he was taken to hospital for third degree burns following an unlikely lightning strike.
Didn't he find out who the Flash was?
This is not the answer I'm looking for
It's not in the wiki thing I'm taking it from and, as we all know if it's not on a wiki it can't have happened
He did something a little more adventurous, as adventurous as carpentry is.
He helped protect Barry's secret identity?
He ran through all the men's locker rooms in the city taking pictures of men in the buff (for research purposes , of course)
now we know what Myg would do with super speed
He didn't
He ran through all the men's locker rooms in the city taking pictures of men in the buff (for research purposes , of course)
Wake up Andy!...wake up! You're muttering something about locker rooms in your sleep!
He helped protect Barry's secret identity?
He didn't
Both Ibby's and Blacula's suggestions would have made for better, and more common Silver Age stories. Andy's wouldn't get past the Comics Code...
He helped some kid find a lost pet?
Close... it is animal or rather animals related... and if Andy's the next poster, remember the answer will have had to pass through the Code
Sigh
So judgey, these Comics Code people (I wonder who they even were)
Um... how about he streaked through, I mean, raced to the zoo to stop rampaging animals?
And as if proving that not thinking of such things improves one, Andy promptly gets the correct answer. A triumph for wholesome code approved moral values !
Remember. If you find thinking for yourself difficult, choose the Code.
Over to you Andy!
Which superhero is most likely to streak?
The Flasher
What four archetypes are necessary for the Titans origin myth cycle to begin?
Leader
Warrior
Trickster?
Wall?
Nope
This question might be too obscure ... Basically someone decides to invoke the myth of the Titans in order to stop monsters. To do so, she needs 4 types of characters based on a certain roster of Titans
Changeling - Beast
Cyborg - Machine
Raven - Emotion
Starfire - Fire
?
Wow. Blacula, my hat is off to you. You got 3 of 4
You guessed "the female mage", "the weepy cyborg" and "the energy flinging alien"
....
1 left!
Jericho? The sensitive artist?
PS - we need to close this round after this question, we are over 2000 posts already
NOT the sensitive artist ... you were closer in your first guess, Ibby
It IS the Robin archetype but it's not called the Leader, it's called "masked fighting man" in Titans: Paper, Scissor, Rock one-shot
Over to you, Ibby
masked fighting man, what an interesting description...
In JLA/Titans, which two Titans bonded over being raised in a virtual reality environment?
That was fast! over to you Blacula
I re-read JLA/Titans once a year to give myself a leg up in this thread.
Who were the members of Tartarus?
besides JLA/Titans, make sure to read every appearance of Kole ever
as to the Q, no idea. some kind of terror group?
Haha I love Kole too so that's more of a pleasure than a chore.
Tartarus were more just your standard villain team than a specifically terrorist group (although I guess all villain teams could be defined as a terrorist group when you think about it?).
They appeared in the Grayson run I think and were comprised of some well-known and less well-known villains.
Hmm... the name is familiar but i never read anything with them in it...
were they a group helping Brother Blood?
I think Grodd put them together? Or Vandal Savage... They used Omen to put together villains to battle the Titans - so of course they were meant to implode. It was the Devin Grayson reboot (which started so well and went so bad so quickly IMO)
The members were (to the best of my recollection)...
Vandal Savage
Grodd
Lady Vic
Siren
Cheshire?
Omen
I agree re: the Grayson run Andy. That became a chore to read very quickly IMO. And then somehow the Faerbar run was even worse! That whole series was one big missed opportunity from beginning to end actually.
And you were very close with your guess:
1. Vandal Savage (leader)
2. Gorilla Grodd
3. Cheshire
4. Lady Vic
5. Siren
6.
One to go. (Omen was just a hostage they used, rather than being a member.)
CLUES RE: FINAL MEMBER:
* Dies in this story.
Nope.

3. Cheshire

CLUES RE: FINAL MEMBER:
* Dies in this story.
* Legacy villain, i.e. not the first to bear the name.
It's that one-armed Nazi dude ... RED PANZER
^ Yes it is! Over to you Andy!
It took me FOREVER to remember his name... I could see the character and I knew there was a P ... but then I had to wait to remember ...
Agh
New Q up soon
we are way past 2000 posts, so I will lock and start a new thread for your Q, Andy.
