I know there was a version of this game before, but I didn't want to look for it.


Here is the setup:

You are on monitor duty. An "emergency" call comes in and you have to assign 5 Legionnaires to answer the call. Whom do you send and what is your reasoning? (you can mix eras if you want. Such as sending XS with Tellus)

Ex: You have to send a Legionnaire to infiltrate a circus. Timber Wolf is sent in as an acrobat.

Then you provide another "emergency" for the next poster to send Legionnaires to.

Not a hard & fast rule, but try not to use any of the Legionnaires used in the previous post.

For a different take on it...the Legion of Supervillains Espionage Squad has abducted and replaced four of the Legion of Superheroes to infiltrate the team! Who are the 4 victims? For bonus points you can say who their evil replacement is as well

Gosh, it's tough to pick four Legionnaires to be victims. I suppose I'd go with those who don't have that many close friends on the team, and whose replacing would not be noticed as much. Also picking Legionnaires with non-unique powers.

Gear - he's relatively new, I doubt the other Legionnaires were on LW much during the construction phase to get to know him that well. I figure he'd be replaced by another Linsnerian (sp?) or maybe even Tharok!

Blok - he has two close friends, Timber Wolf (who is kind of oblivious) and White Witch (who isn't). I figure it shouldn't be that hard for another Dryadian to impersonate Blok though

Stone Boy - I'm cheating a little bit here But I figure an immobile Stone Boy will be unlikely to be found out. I'd pick another Zwennian to impersonate him - and he'd have nanobots or something to spy for him

Invisible Kid II - did Jacques make any really close friends Postboot? I think Wildfire may have been the closest, and they weren't THAT close. I figure the spy can spend a lot of time invisible as well.

I remember reading the final issues of the Baxter run for the first time. Someone lets Sun Boy know that with Brainy gone, he's the Legion's top scientist. We only see the back of Dirk's head but I always imagined a grimace. Mon El and Dreamy were gone by them too. He may have brains, but they are mainly located around his groin. This is why he was a derelict when picked up by Earthgov and not a leading scientific light.

Tellus - His simple message of the mother ocean will have everyone to the left of the extreme right wing in tears.

Lamprey - Gets a long overdue promotion just to share in this adventure. Go Lamprey! Hands on science and light.

I would rephrase is it, "he may have brains, but the ones he prefers using are around his groin". He's a creature of pleasure and would only put in the scientific effort if he'd get a good reward from it. But give him the proper motivation and I think he'd do a good job (sadly, I don't recall this ever being demonstrated in the stories...)

It's partly that he's overshadowed by Brainy, Nura and Lar when it comes to science and his origin in helping his dad after school rather than being a professional scientist at that time himself. Then there's the lifestyle choices he's made. Perhaps he simply chose a different path and moved away form the science he did know. It would get him a cushy job at Earthgov after all.

I don't think he was ever interested in science much, though I do recall at least one throwaway mention of him authoring some research paper. Can't recall where though.

Re Sun Boy, I don't trust my memory 100% but I'm pretty sure it was somebody else commenting on his paper, so it was legit. I was surprised myself - I don't doubt his smarts, but I do doubt he'd put in the effort without there being a short-term reward.

Tyroc - When we saw them in the 5YG, Tyroc was very close to the subs and I think a lot of his training got them into great shape to take on the Dominators.

Colossal Boy - His SP training and association with the Academy (even the LSV one) will get the Subs well drilled, as well as competent in the law enforcement field.

Shrinking Violet - Our tactical field commander would tear strips off the subs unless they were in peak condition.

Karate Kid - There are hints that he really increased the capabilities of a number of Legionnaires. There would be an even bigger jump for the subs.

Persuader - While Jo would be a decent fit, I think a slightly grown Gim should be able to pull this off nicely. That provides the height, strength and muscles of the Persuader. It's not s though he ever hits with the sharp side of the axe so Gim won't have to kill anyone.

Keith Giffen has been let back into co-plot the Legion. In a matter of months the galaxy is in a mess and the Legion has been victimised and disbanded. But there is hope. Brainiac 5 devises a solution to Heatstroke and Coldsnap's issue of not being able to touch. They quit being villainous.

Sun Boy dates New Wave, breaking that evil side of her. She reforms to set up a water sports club for disenfranchised sentients of the Tharok disaster.

Windfall is invited to join the Legion. She was never very villainous. Harmonia declares she has lost her ability to control winds. Harmonia will focus on earth powers allowing Windfall into the team. Nightwind would be annoyed, had she not really died back in v4. Harmonia and Windfall unearth the more recent impostor.

Shakedown doesn't want to be a villain on his own. Fortunately, he's offered a contract with the Naltor Dreamers ball team, where Thom Kallor thinks his physique is going to make him a solid, dependable player.

That leaves Dream Girl to broadcast to the UP that there are better things to be doing than running around hitting things for greed.

Light Lass / Gossamer slows falling bodies, so that the drift to the ground, light as a feather.

Element Lad turns the ground they are about to land in to water, for a softer landing.

Emergency! Portals to Apokalips have opened on Earth, and armies of parademons are pouring through!

Complication! The portals were misaligned, and they were supposed to be appearing on a different world for a training exercise, but, being parademons, are just as willing to attack Earth, now that they are here anyway!

Chameleon Boy to impersonate the various resurrections/ images of religious icons. He can tell them that since all of their religions preach tolerance, that they should really be putting at some of it into practice.

Sensor Girl with Saturn Girl's telepathic boost transmit the suffering of persecution victims down the ages to every religious fundamentalist and political lackey on the planet. This can be applied as needed.

Element Lad transmutes all weapons across the globe into elements to promote the environment. A terrible shame for countries who base their economies on weapons manufacture and oppression, but they should really have thought it through. Subsequent attacks with knives and sticks (because some people simply don't learn) are dealt with similarly.

Finally, Brainiac 5 offers some simple, impartial, logical advice to the squirrel descendants on Earth to remove the greed and envy that is at the heart of all religious intolerance.

Having Rond and Imra around keeps him from subverting it for himself. As a flourish, he goes further than Imra and gets the corrupt officials to confess. Who knew it was so widespread?

GEAR picks up the programming of TO Morrow's old computer. A computer so powerful it would affect reality to ensure it's programming was flawless. GEAR makes sure it thinks the Naltorians have to be asleep.

Infectious Lass gives the Natlorians a form of Sleepy Sickness. Since Drura controls this she simply induces certain of the symptoms, preventing or countering others.

The entire active Legion has been kidnapped! Pick 5 Academy students/allies/rejects to rescue them. The only criteria? They can never have been active Legionnaires!

Deep in the Legion's unlit laboratory basement a panel comes to life. It's warm green glow is joined by the light of two red eyes. The master is missing. The failsafe has been activated. Laurel Kent II rises from her slumber.

Gahiji did not let his success spread into a smile. This wasn't a place where people expressed much happiness. But he had found them against the pressures of his family and the UP.

As he had travelled to world after world he found more fear, more uncertainty. Rumours of escaped criminals were rife. With the Legion gone it was only a matter of time before the first attack would come. Gahji left the stinking bar, his psychometric senses overwhelmed by the stench. He concentrated to attract the attention of his partner.

Bina checked her weapon once more and adjusted herself in her combat armour. She let her mind sense flicker at the edge of her perception. She could pin point each of the guards in the derelict complex beyond. The dullness of their response to her power could only mean the Circle. Bina had learned well from her mission against the Dominators. She would not be going in unequipped this time. The gun felt comforting in her grip.

The smoke filling the complex shifted as if pushed. Bullets fell from the air and the path of lasers distorted. The sound of the gunfire was fixed with sounds of rage and terror. Fanatic Circle recruits found themselves pinned to the floor, trapped under collapsing structures or simply shot out of the complex. Tel Vole, walked steadily through the ruins, shifting his powers around Laurel and Gahiji and taking instruction from Bina ahead. He was calm, but frustrated. Jed being inducted into a new UP response force meant that he saw nothing of his partner. But what really bothered him was being a decoy against the Circle. He hoped their inside woman would finish her job soon.

The last of the bombs made a contented pinging noise as Tari scanned the spectrum across the rest of the control room. Satisfied that there were no little or shifty circle members left, she uploaded the remainder of the Circle's plans to LegioNet. She let the others know where the Legion were being held, confirming the readings from Gahiji, Laurel and Bina.

The Ontiir clone groaned painfully from the huddled Circle commanders at the doorway. Perhaps Tari had gone a little overboard in the hallucinations she had inflicted on them. But by recruiting as many villains as possible to trigger another Earth War, they deserved what, and who, they got. Besides, Tari owed Ontiir something a little special for his betrayal of the Science Police to which she belonged.
