i just seen a preview of a cover that Olivier Coipel is working on ....

it's a WRAP-AROUND featuring the Fantastic Four and the Avengers !!!

and it's for a MARVEL EUROPE book [ need to get more info on that .... ]

the image i saw featured REED and SUE !!! it looked great !!!

but it did make me miss him on "THE LEGION" .......

BTW, did you just recently purchase on of Olivier's pages from Legion #1? Just curious. There was a page I was trying to buy from The Artist's Choice and when I submitted my order this one page, featuring Jo prominently, came back as already on hold.

nope !!! but i wish i'd had !!!

i haven't looked on the ARTIST'S CHOICE for a while !!! some of the prices were pretty high !!! and then the fact, they don't accept PAYPAL, and i'd have to send a CHEQUE [ made out in US funds ] and then the shipping charge on top !!!

the final cost, just seemed too much !!!

They just had a great sale, ended Nov. 30. 50% off most pieces by almost all of the creators he represents. Still didn't find a lot a Legion pieces I liked that weren't already on hold or sold but I did pick up a couple with Legion World depicted including the original to the piece we use for the Threshhold to the site.

Unfortunately he was still waiting for Chris Batista to send his stuff in so none of it made the sale. I was hoping to pick up his pages featuring Lightning Lad.

that's a shame about the SALE !!! it would have made the extra charges, a little easier to pay for ....

you will have to post a scan of your pages !!! i'd love to see them .....

Matt, is Olivier going to be working on any ongoing series (from either DC or Marvel) in the future. His Avengers was amazing, although I really miss him on Legion! I'd love to see him have another two-three year (or even more) run on something!

Olivier said that Geoff Jones offered him work on any of his "DC" books [or upcoming ones ... ] as he left the "AVENGERS" !!!

so we could see Olivier back at "DC" !!!???

and he's still on the "AVENGERS" at the moment, his next arc is up in 2 issues [ i think ?? ]

Could it possibly be Avengers United? I understand that is a Marvel UK title that reprints Avengers stories in Europe. And they are currently set (already started I believe) to reprint the JLA/Avengers and regular Avengers stories in upcoming issues. # 35 was the scheduled start of the reprints and was scheduled for December. The covers were not available last I heard. Maybe that's what Oliver is referring to.

we get these issues in the UK [ and they are sold at newsagents, where they USED sell American comics, when i was a kid, but i never see them anywhere, now .... ]

Olivier said the cover was for an issue coming out in January ..... i'll try and get some more info !!!

Yes the covers are available - the next issue page in 34 (they've been space-filling for three issues - they meant to put the first 3 Davis issues [Hulks in Greece] in 32, then start JLA/Av (& the Kree/Skrull War) in 33. Since they got their dates wrong (they'd have published JLA/Av 4 BEFORE it was puclished in the US, had it been finished ), they spread the Hulks over two issues, and inserted the Squadron Supreme debut and the Black Panther's origin in 32 & 33, and used the Ultron Imperative for 34))

Unless they're planning to reprint Domination Factor (I think that was it...), I don't see where they would use an FF/Avengers cover
though, especially since Marvel UK/Panini stopped commissoning original covers before AU was started in favour of reprinting the US ones (albeit occasionally with minor colouring changes)

i have a feeling the cover is not UK bound !!?? and it's for a FRENCH or SPANISH version !!??

all though don't hold me to that .... i'll get some more info !!!

You should definitely get his permission first. He could possibly get in trouble if that image got out and if he showed you in confidence then its nice of you to think of us, but it makes perfect sense for you to check with him.

Matt, have you heard anything about Olivier coming over to DC to work on a book with Geoff Johns? I know he said somewhere that he'd love to work with him again...

I wish Olivier could come back to DC to work on one of my favorites! I don't really like the editorial direction at Marvel as much these days, too much focus on making their monthlies an outlet for trade paperbacks. His Avengers was good, but I feel he and John's couldn't tell the stories the way they really wanted.

Oh, and that sketch looks amazing! Imagine Olivier on FF...

Olivier told me that, when Geoff was leaving the "AVENGERS", he said to Olivier that he could come and work on any of his "DC" titles !!!

but at the moment, Olivier is still at "Marvel" ..... and he hasn't mentioned any other plans for the future !!??

whoa!

i don't recall oli signing any exclusive contracts, so does this mean he's freelancing? while i love his work, i'm lukewarm about his ability to put out 12 issues a year. still, if he's given a head start, perhaps he can pull it off. though DC could give him a cold shoulder for leaving, if it's Geoff asking (he *is* DC's current wonder boy), perhaps they'd take him back...
