Agreed, that dance was a big, silly misstep. And yuppers, there are some pretty scary female characters on the show. But it seems like they eased up a little towards the end when the cheerleading coach (possibly the most negative character - male or female) gave what was a fairly positive speech about shaking things up. I also caught some positive moments from two of the Cheerios(?) when they helped Kurt out at the beginning of the show.
This show did the only thing it could've done to make me love it more-- guest star the great Kristen Chenowith.
If only they'd let that smarmy drama teacher disappear forever. He makes me want to puke, though I like the actor.
I'm intrigued by the cheerleaders that always are touching each other... we need to know more about them and the football players that joined, other than the housewife-loving pool boy.
Glee actually had the most beautiful voice in the history of mankind on, along with the guy using it, Josh Grobin!
BUT, he didn't SING! How is that even possible?!!! sigh
Anyway, I'm having trouble with the central girl singer, the one who quit glee club to star in the play, then quit the play to star in glee club. I just can't STAND her.
I'm not familiar with Kristen Chenoworth, but her episode was a lot of fun... I can totally see April being a star in Branson. That's what I'm assuming happened with her April character.
This week's episode was downright zingy... I am growing to loathe Mrs. Shuester... but I suppose that's meant to happen. But she IS right... her husband should be off-limits to the "bush-baby eyes" redhead.
Yeah, I need more info on the random guys that are now on Glee.
I caught some of this last night. I now have a crush on Quinn, the head cheerleader! Apparently, though I once thought I was past this phase, I still like fictional TV high school girls of the same variety I did real ones in real high school!
So how awesome was the mattress commercial performance? That must of been fun to film. As for the rest of the ep I'm glad blank finally found out about blank.
Today it was announced that Glee will have a 2nd season, wahoo! Plus that they're looking to cast 3 new roles. It would be awesome if I could end up a part of New Directions!
Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Madonna episode. I'm pretty sure I'll never watch the show again (I already watch enough TV), but this was great fun.
Ideally I would of liked to do a few more takes but I don't think it turned out too bad considering. Now everything that can be is crossed hoping I win a role.
Happy 20th birthday to Chris Colfer (Kurt), may it be fabulous!
Also if y'all haven't heard yet the show's already been greenlit for a 3rd season!
As for the most recent ep, I really enjoyed it. My favorite performances were "Beth" and "Shout It Out Loud". As the best moment in the ep I liked Tina's "Asian Vampire" speech to Figgins at at end.

I picked up the deluxe edition of the Glee ShowStoppers soundtrack yesterday and have been listening to it near-constantly.
This show continues to impress me. I really thought that the Rachel\Shelby scenes would be the best but no, we get that awesome scene with Curt/Finn/Curt's dad that was perfect the single best television moment I have ever seen.
i think BAD ROMANCE was the best number to date, topping even the LIKE A VIRGIN number. (in my opinion) the show really plays to the singers strengths. and it was good to see Quinn back in action.
yeah, Curt's dad is the best.
I've had bad romance in my head ever since "rah rah oo lah lah"
I did something I don't do that often, even for "Glee," and that was rewind and watch "Bad Romance" again. They just did an awesomely fun job of it.
And I liked the duality of the Kurt/Finn/Burt scene. Up until he went overboard with the F-word, Finn was actually right. Kurt didn't want to admit it, but he was definitely letting his hots for Finn cloud his judgment. Like one of my blogs mentioned, I think the scene could have been a bit stronger if Burt had acknowledged that with a few words to Kurt, too, but I still thought it was all well-played.
Funk was kind of a mixed bag but I still enjoyed it for the most part.
Today is the release of both the new album and tonights the finale! I can't wait to watch it. I'd like to have a viewing party but I don't know that many people around here that watch it.
Loved the finale-- TO SIR WITH LOVE made me mist up... and Jonathan Groff finally got to show off more of what he's capable of- I thought BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY was terrfic and liked the way it was edited to parallel Quinn's giving birth- down to Jesse St. James being lifted up out of a circle of dancers at the same time the baby was born.
The relationship between Sue Sylvester and Matthew Morrison's character should be an interesting to watch next season.
Did any Gleeks watch the Tony Awards last night? With Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele performing (kind of odd, since neither have been on Broadway all year- but I guess capitlizing on GLEE's success is hardly a bad thing.)
Sean Hayes was great, but Kristen Chenowith store the show!
I enjoyed the premiere, especially the teaser with Jacob Ben Israel giving voice to all the complaints lodged against the show: "too much 80s, Shuster rapping, Rachel controlling, etc." Very good stuff. Coach Beiste is awesome! Rachel sending the Filipino girl to the crack house for an audition was awesome! One of the many things I like about "Glee" is that the creators are willing to let the lead characters by nasty, petty, cruel and make really bad decisions, and the consequences aren't smoothed over with hugs by the end of the episode. And Brittany steals every scene "People think I was on vacation all summer but I was really lost in the sewers."
watched the season premiere, it didn't make me cry like past episodes have. or take me to my happy place.
loved the coach beast addition, the addition of all the new villains really, the blond guy and sunshine. was worried they were going to be regular cast members.
no great moving numbers though, really over the new york song.
more mike chnag abs!!!
loved the return of quinn except for the bitch slap by boobs, i was really starting to like santanna too.
I think both Chord & Sunshine have potential but I prefer Chord. Although I'm still wishing I got his part TBH. Did anyone hear the part where they said "Matt" transfered? I didn't here any news about him getting fired or anything, so I fond that odd. Did anyone else?
*Edited to add*
Chord's character is named Sam? No wonder he reminded me of a certain Guthrie guy.
I was kind of getting over the show last season, BUT the premier this season was pretty fantastic!
I loved Sam AND Sunshine, the new guy who stole Sunshine (!) and the Beasty Gal. Is she really a woman? One moment I think she is, the next, I'm not so sure. lol
I really want some new kids. Like they said, they need more depth to their team if they want to compete in New York.
If they're going to the REAL Big Apple for the finals, maybe some of our guys here can go watch or be extras or something. Quite a few live there, or close, don't they? I could see MLLash doing a chareokee(sp) number at a night club, for example.
Granted I wasn't really looking forward to this ep because I'm not a BS-fan but the cast rocked it! Heather Morris & Naya Rivera did an especially awesome job. Stamos did good too.
I'm a very late-comer to the Rocky Horror world but now I really love it. The music is *excellent*! It's one of the most played albums on my iPod. I don't really watch Glee (I plan on correcting that via DVD one day though) but I might try to watch this episode.
Not too happy with who they've got in the Frank role though. Or the lyric change from "transexual" to "sensational" Transylvania.
What? They changed transexual to sensational? That kind of defeats the whole purpose. I like the concept of Glee and enjoy some of the music, but if they can't keep it real they should just stay away from Rocky Horror altogether.
Actually owning the soundtrack sweet transvestite is still in there although for some reason Mercedes in the Frankenfuter role so the sensational change is a bit odd. Many of the other songs seem little if not at all changed. While some of the roles are a given, some of the choices are a bit baffling. I figured if anyone was going to be FrankenFuter it would be Kurt but his actor wanted to be Riff-Raff so they made him so from my understanding.
If they weren't going to go with a guy I think Jane Lynch would have made a pretty hilarious Frank. There's that problem with her not being able to sing though...
Jane Lynch can sing. She would have been good in the role, but I don't think Sue would believably participate.
Having Kurt play Frank N Furter would have been too obvious. Puck might have been interesting, but if it's one of the girls, Mercedes is as good a choice as any.
^ Jane Lynch can sing? I guess I don't watch the show enough. Never saw it in any or the episodes I watched or in any previews.
Puck probably would have been the best choice for Frank. Or John Stamos. I heard somewhere that he was cast for that role in the episode but network executives nixed the idea so they had to re-write it. Don't quote me on that though. Could just be Message Board scuttlebut.
Among other things, she appeared in A Mighty Wind as part of The New Main Street Singers. All the actors who appeared in that film did their own singing.
First of all, I want to start out by saying that no matter what criticism I give to this episode, I will always appreciate the message that the show is sending. Bullying is unaccaptable, no matter who does it or for what reason. The stance that the cast takes to protect Kurt was heartwarming, if not slightly unrealistic.
So Kurt's mom and Finn's dad get married. It was a cute ceremony and an amazing reception. Seeing Finn step up and accept Kurt as his brother and dancing with him made me cry. I have complained in the past that Rachel was too self-centered and Finn too dumb, but tonight went a LONG way to redeeming them with me.
Carol Burnett was totally wasted her. She wasn't funny. The whole thing with Sue marrying herself seemed like a ridiculous subplot to balance some of the more serious things going on. Sue seemed out of character in many ways tonight. Her protest and resignation, although touching, didn't seem to be like the Sue we have seen up to now. I all for shades of grey, but the writing of Sue is all over the place this season.
And now, the bullying. Rather than face the bully, Kurt opts to transfer to another school. The school that his new friend Blaine just happens to attend. Rivals for New Direction. I am hoping this is more of a plot device to get Kurt and Blaine together than Kurt running away. At some point, he will still have to face the bully. There is no getting around it. Hopefully Kurt will be stronger when he finally does return.
Sue telling the Cheerios to hit themselves with the chicken cutlets had me cracking up. I was really hoping this would be the end of the Karofsky being a jerk closet case storyline.
I didn't think I'd ever say this but I think Lauren and Puck could be a good fit. I'm glad Artie & Mike are bonding. I really liked Rachel's rendition of "Firework". I'm not sure what to think about the idea about Finn/Quinn getting a reprise although I hoped she and Sam would last a lot longer.
The ep that aired after the Super Bowl was my first dip into Glee. I know musicals and musical comedies especially aren't anything about reality, but they really stretched things with the substitute football players. Even if it were possible, the team woulda been down about 80 points at the half, right? Oh well, maybe next time I'll turn my brain off and let myself go a little more. I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure I'm really the show's target audience! (said target being unabashed musical fans)
I think I'd like it more if the singing was more prominent and was like 75% of the show, instead of about 25% (based on that ep). I really liked the duet of "Need You Now" with the mohawk dude and the brunette, for example. Not a country fan at all, but that's one I like.
I also don't like the obvious lip-synching. I know it's a staple of musical numbers in movie musicals and the like, but it always takes me out of the experience. Can't anyone just sing on camera for these things? Not Glee's fault, really, but a personal caveat, nonetheless.
Poor Sam believing Quinn's saving Finn from chocking on a gumball story as an explanation for her mono. Speaking of Sam, his version of "Baby" wasn't bad. My favorite performance was definitely Lauren's version of "I Know What Boys Like". Loved how Britt can make Rachel's clothes fashionable when she can't.
I loved Finn explaining the various types of drunks. Bieste & Will's honky-tonk adventure looked like fun. I enjoyed the rendition of Tik Tok before the vomiting happened. Anyone else really sick of Rachel's character? She's getting increasingly annoying be it drunk or sober.
I was... it hasn't been on in WEEKS! However, unless things brighten up considerablely, I'll be dropping it. I loved the show for it's cheery (and admittedly unrealistic) take on all the teen-angsty situations, but this season has been nothing but down right depressing. If it doesn't find it's way back to a happier outlook soon, I'm out of here. There are plenty of dark and depressing shows out there already, I want something better and more FUN.
Well new episodes start again this Tues. Said episode also introduces The Glee Project's Damian as Rory an Irish exchange student who has a thing for Britney. I'm happy about that as he was one of my favorites.
This show is ending this week. I've stayed with it the whole time.
It's certainly been flawed. My personal opinion is they should have let characters who graduated leave the show, to make only an occasional guest appearance. The "newbies" introduced in season four had a lot of potential, but they had to compete for screen time and viewers' (and writers') attention with established characters who were off in New York. When it finally became obvious that this wasn't working, they made the horrid decision to move the show to New York full time. That was the low point.
This short last season, on the other hand, has been wonderful. The only problem I have with it was the season four "newbies" were shunted off with little explanation. Of course, the show has had a lot of characters who disappeared without explanation (Joe and Sugar anyone?).
Overall, it's been great to have a show that allowed people to burst into song for no apparent reason. Will and Sue, of course, were the mainstays. The two "adults" played off each other so well. Without Matt Morrison and Jane Lynch, the show never would have worked.
I left midway through Season 2 when I felt I was being required to suspend my disbelief TOO much, but I softened to that as time when on and returned via NETFLIX and watched all of last season and this season on TV.
I think losing Finn is what dealt the show a blow from which is simply could not recover.
Th treatment of Rory, Joe and Sugar remains a problem for me to this day (my love for 2nd stringers is well documented). ANd I certainly didn't care for the wholesale dumping of the newbies. All signs of a show scrambling to figure itself out (see also Season 1 of THE MINDY PROJECT with its constant cast changes).
That said, I'm certainly glad I returned. GLEE exploded into Pop Culture and burned as bright as anything could for awhile. It deserves and is getting a good send-off.
The final number (a song with which I was not familiar) was great. I only wish all those old friends could have had some dialogue so we could have some closure with everyone. I especially loved Sugar's grand entrance at the tail end of the sixth-season newbies and Unique and Ryder entering hand-in-hand (Unique always really loved Ryder and that whole storyline was just abandoned). Conspicuous by her absence was Melissa Benoist (Marley), who was preparing for her new role as Supergirl.
There are a few "tribute" episodes that I would have loved to have seen them do. An Elvis Presley episode, a Simon and Garfunkel episode or a Sound of Music episode would have made me squeal with, well, with glee.
It seems like a tragedy they didn't do A Sound of Music Episode!
(and more Bee Gees speaking of Tragedy)
They always did Lady GAGA really well.
Is it worth it to watch the last two episodes? (I'm expecting a yes)
I've been missing Quinn Fabrais a lot these past two seasons ... one of the most fleshed out characters ...
and I adore ... Santa Lopez and her alter ego ... Naya Rivera ...
The scene where she pushes Sue ... is at once the most wish fulfilling / gratifying moment and the result of a long character development.
"No, THIS is assault!" Loved it.
Also when Santana gets her butt kicked by the big girl. ("I'm from Pluma Heights! ?)
There were a few times that the Glee kids surpassed the artists they were covering ... Santana did it with Girl is on Fire and Blaine (I think did it a few times).
The most disappointing cover ever ... was Santana covering Cold Hearted Snake by Paula Abdul ... it seems PERFECT yet .. i thought it was just like a Karaoke version.
GLEE finale: I left somewhere in season 2 and came back after Cory Monteith died, caught up and stayed around until the bittersweet end. Glad I did. Sometimes you just needed whatever it is GLEE had to offer, even if it was smashed over your head with great force (as it often did on the show, *smile*).
The show really struggled after it lost Finn, both in direction onscreen and in the ratings. Finn was proof you didn't have to be the very best at (singing/dancing/fill in whatever here) to be the most important, and the finale certainly did a great job of expressing his importance.
I'll kinda miss those perky, annoying kids and even the most exasperating, confoundingly-written character EVER: Sue.
