Look at Donna trying to make Garth feel good even though Garth's biceps are nothing compared to Aquaman's. Good ol' Donna.

Why do I hear Batman delivering his initial line ala William Dozier from the 60's TV series:

Ever notice how Robin is always fixing the Bat-radio, Bat-mobile and just about everything else? Batman is probably thinking "damn, if this kid gets a hobby I better teach Alfred some mechanical engineering!"
BTW: wow, inspiring words by Garth, like Lash said!
And sexist Hippolyta!

I'm still disappointed at the fact that Starfire doesn't once refer to the Titans as "imperialist pigs" or "greedy capitalists" or anything like that in this story!

Seeing Duela Dent up there makes me think that she should totally update her schtick.
She used to pretend to be the daughter's of various villains, and it would be fun to see her go back to that, using a watered-down (and safer) version of venom to pretend to be 'Bane's Daughter' or plant-derived toxic thorns from a special gun as 'Ivy's Daughter' or some cold-based gadgets or fire-based gadgets as 'Freeze's Daughter' or 'Firefly's Daughter.'

Lord, TITANS has had some BaaaaaaAAAaaaad periods. Lots of people might consider the Duela Dent period bad (I do not, I adore that whole period), but that era was freakin' GENIUS compared to the above era.
And that's years BEFORE the Titans with tinfoil on their heads story...

Telekinetics don't get nearly enough play in the comics and I did like the Phantasm outfit. The mask and all-concealing cloak thing is pretty rare for heroes, so it's nice to see a traditionally 'villain' look on a hero. Waid / Kitson seem to have borrowed that theme for their Wanderer named 'Telekinesis.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telekinesis_comics (add parenthesis around 'comics' to make the link work) Adrian Chase / Vigilante was such an awesome character. Pity his kid was such a chode.

I've been trying to think of an example, but the only one that comes to mind is "Jive Talkin'" by the Bee Gees. They weren't talking about music.

Based on the brief research I've done via google/wikipedia, it looks like it was originally a generic term for swing dancing or the kind of slang associated with swing/jazz culture (hence its later meaning of "black slang").
So, "jive music" seems like a common expression for "dance music", but it seems a bit weird to just use "jive" for "music".
I imagine the "dance" association would also be the root of expressions such as "My plans jived with his", in which it means something like "being in synch".
This concludes EDE's Lessions in Hip Lingo.

According to Merriam-Webster, "jibe" is a variant spelling of "gibe", which means to deride or tease with taunting words or to utter taunting words. However others have "jibe" meaning to agree or fit. There is also a nautical meaning for "jibe". To shift from one side to the other when running before the wind, as a fore-and-aft sail or its boom or to alter course so that a fore-and-aft sail shifts in this manner.
Merriam-Webster and at Dictionary.com have "jive" meaning 1 : swing music or the dancing performed to it or 2 a : glib, deceptive, or foolish talk b : the jargon of hipsters c : a special jargon of difficult or slang terms.
I think having "jive" mean in synch (i.e. his plans jive with mine) is actually meant as "jibe".

Interesting. I would've immediately thought of "jibe" as meaning "taunting", and "jive" sounds so much more natural to me for "being in agreement".
So, basically, in the 1930s or 40s a hipster might've used "jive" to mean music, but a teenage in the early 60s would be unlikely to?

Wow- I wonder if the writers of Tim Drake's debut read this story? I never realized how much Lilith and the third Robin have in common!

Even in his ad, he's crying. The years haven't diminished the annoyance of his whining.
