My complex shares a parking lot with a grocery store. It takes, like 45 seconds MAX to walk from my apartment to the store, and that's if I'm walking slow.

And on the other side of me, a Back Yard Burger. It's always smellin' like black angus at my pad!

I'm walking distance from an ice cream parlor. drool

This time of year that fact that the wife doesn't eat dairy is the only thing that keeps me from getting Super-Fatassed.

At the end of my street there is a Vietnamese travel agency, lottery store, hair salon and lawyer. And on the other corner is a chiroprator.

KFC is the closest business to me, but there is a Chinese restaurant in sight of my house (KFC isn't directly visible from where I am).

There are a number of businesses within a short walk of where I live.

Does the local Lutheran Church across the street two blocks down count as a business?

If not, there's a convenience store (indy) and a laundromat about three blocks past that.

I'm within walking distance of a local nursery called Civano. It's nice but a bit more expensive than some of the other nurseries in town. I do more looking than actual buying.

My gym, which anchors one corner of a strip mall, is the closest thing to me. About a mile, I'd say. Another three more miles and suburban shopping sprawl breaks all the hell loose.

Except for Macy's (which I ♥), I really don't venture that way very often.

Well, there is a Day Care a half mile down the road, a smoke shop next to it and an appliance store next to that...

It's about a 60 second walk to a community college (that one of the girls is going to), or an Indian restaurant that I visit weekly, and a gaming store (new, nothing I like there tho, all collective card games and stuff), and a bookstore. If the comic store was still within a 2 minute walk, this location would be darn near paradise.

It's also a 2 minute walk to the gym, which, ya'd think, would get my butt to go there more than three times a week...

Best of all, our house is on a little-used side road, so we get minimal traffic, and the trees prevent us from hearing the main road traffic. It feels like we are out in the boonies, and then, BAM, all the comforts of civilization, within easy walking range, but comfortably out of sight.

If I turn left out of my back door and walk about a third of a block I come to a major street. Upon crossing the street, I find myself in the parking lot of a ginormous Home Depot.

My condo complex is right in the middle of a nice run of stores and restaurants, but in a more suburban part of Stamford

If I turn left, I immediately have a dry-cleaners, than a thriftshop (I'll gladly take any deubtantes there who want to go!), then an awesome small movie theater. That ends the block but if I kept going there are two banks, a CVS, a liquor store, a Chinese Food place, a doggy daycare (not the one we use), a sushi place, a great bar/restaurant, a hot dog/hamburger drive-in place, dunken donuts (yech), a few other things.

Across the street is a Baptist Church. I love hearing them sing. When I look out my window in my bedroom I see a giant cross--once when I had an awful nightmare too horrible to even talk about, I found that comforting. Next to that is a dentists office. Next to *that* is a gas station, which is conveinent.

When I take a right, I have a few more condo buildings before I get to a Dominos Pizza (yech! You couldn't pay me to eat there, especially not in the pizza capital of the world), an antiques store, a Subway, another gas station and then a whole slew of restaurants: about 8 in total on both sides of the road. After that is a bridal store and a high-end jewelry store.

I'm right in the middle of quite a few businesses! The majority of them are small businesses too, which I like. I only wish I had (A) a book store and (B) a cafe around me.

And there are like 3 barber-shop places I can walk to, but I dislike all of them. I still go to the one I've been going to since I was 2 years old. (same barber too).

There's a convenience store that sells alcohol only 2 hours away, if I walk fast. A lot faster by car, of course; it's all uphill.

HA! We've moved since last yesterday! Now, the closest businesses are The Main Street Gazette & Gift Shoppe (I've read the Gazette EVERY morning since last night!) -

[Linked Image]

and Disney Clothier's Sandwich Shoppe.-

[Linked Image]

Mr Clothier makes the sandwiches himself! And they're always FRESH!

Besides the buttloads of charm, you may have also noticed that the new town I live in, New Towne, has no CARS! That's because Mayor McSmith thinks people are too damn fat and OUTLAWED them!

They get some oddball ones at times. Nothing consistant. Could be Marvel, DC or Dark Horse. Pretty much never the same thing twice...and not necessarily month to month either.

Not counting the pony keg or the doctors' offices in the building, there's a Best Buy just a short walk away.

Since I last participated in this thread, the convenience store got replaced by a chi-chi deli. The laundromat is now a bar and grill.

We had a really good bagel joint for awhile, but it got priced out. shake

There's a school on the corner of my block, if that counts as a business. If not, one more block down is a mini-mart.
