Since coming on mid-year, I noticed several things which make Legion World the better website compared to the DC Message boards... For instance, the posters (on LW) don't spend time trying to tick each other off just because someone likes a particular Legionnaire and other people don't... Secondly, the crazy scenarios like the Lune-a-ticks and the LMB Infinite Crisis (the latter, which I couldn't be a part of because of circumstances beyond my control). Who comes up with the ideas? They are so cool! The story outlines were/are pure genius...DC's loss is Legion World's gain. And the artistic talents like Spellbinder, Vee and Joe-Boy (to name a few)....I like group efforts very much and someday I'd like to contribute a few of my own designs. I feel good posting on Legion World. I give it a rating of ten stars!

Legion World rocks! (Except for the posters who don't realize Jacques Foccart is the One, True Invisible Kid, that is! )

The thing is, pretty much everyone here is a decent person. And those that get here and aren't pretty much becme decent. The few that we have had here that wouldn't, or turned on us, didn't really last. The people here are pretty great.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

And despite our political differences - or any reason you can think of where two posters may be at odds - I think we have cultivated a community of respect and appreciation for others. I credit Nightcrawler in particular for working overtime towrds this end; finding the balance between free expression and civility.

I couldn't agree more! Although this has all been said before, it is nice to reaffirm it every once in a while, and to be reminded of just how good we have it here.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately but I decided to keep my ranting to myself. But since you brought it up... I've been spending a lot more time on the internet lately, and it's really made me appreciate what a special place LW is. Everyone treats each other with civility and respect, which should be the norm, but alas, it doesn't seem to be elsewhere. Is it really so hard to disagree with someone without resorting to insults and name calling? Sigh. Anyway, this place gives me hope that the world is not going to hell in a handbasket after all. So thanks to all for being so cool. And keeping your pants on.

Oh, and by the way, Vee, artistic expression comes in many varieties. Some people use drawing, some express themselves through coloring, others use programs to bring their visions to life. They all take imagination and a level of skill of accomplish them, so don't sell yourself short

We try to resolve problems rather than pile on to the flaming or wait for the moderator or list-owner to settle things (which often amounts to kicking someone off the board). I don't think a good atmosphere just happens; people have to participate and work at maintaining it, and that's what we do here. There are also lots of extra goodies appearing all the time - graemlins, fireworks, etc. - thanks to the tireless little elves in the Legion World Workshop.

Nightcrawler's an elf? I would have sworn he was taller.
The posting hijinks of the really active LMBPers have been a little overwhelming for a few message boards in the past (remember Rob?) but Legion World is perfect for us. The DC staff (and most especially Barry) have been very generous and almost all the time the members have been rspectful and friendly to Legion creators that visit here. It's a VERY special website.
um... Long Live the Legion!

Just wait til Congress approves the tax benefits to Legion Worlders that I slipped into an appropriations bill.
(Sorry, Canadians and Aussies, couldn't do much for you in that regard.)
BTW, what's this pants-on/pants-off rule people were talking about? Just exactly where should my pants be right now?

This thread has been on my mind these past few days. I am in the process of leaving another forum, which I had been a member of for ten months (I am not going to name the forum, because I don't want to give it publicity that it doesn't deserve.)
What I find exceptional about Legion World is that, unlike the unnamed forum and many others I have been on, it really seems to me like Gary, and Scott, and everyone else in charge, puts the needs of the forum ahead of anything else. On other forums, I have noticed that the admins and the mods often have selfish private agendas which lead to back-stabbing and feuds. I don't see any of that on LW, which is why I think it's so peaceful.
Any disagreements I've had on LW have been either very polite, or they've been quickly resolved and put behind us. Words cannot express how much that means to me, because I have a personality which normally does not adapt well to message boards: I am highly opinionated, yet at the same time I don't like getting into arguments (it's the Aries in me.)
I think that LW brings out the best in all of us. Rick's observation on Page One of this thread, about everyone here either being a decent person from the start or becoming a decent person over time, rings true.
And so I want to thank you all for making this one of the very few forums which has successfully achieved a feeling of community.

Thanks for the compliments, Stealth, I'm sure we all apreciate it. Gary and Scott have been really great. I've done a bit of moderating before, but I've never been as comfortable about it as I am here.

I may often misplace my javelins, but there's so many advantages to compensate -- I have a dozen javelins, not one, and each one has a different gimmick. Why, in the G.I. Maybe that's why Destro and Cobra Commander wore those masks in shame. There was no internet hocking those products back then.
There we have it, the root cause of the GI Joe Cobra conflict.

Legion World is more than a web-site. It's a… a state of mind. Yeah, that’s the ticket… “A State of Mind”
And Gary, Scott and Caroline are our collective "Consciousness Gurus."
Or something like that...
Just an Old, Broke-Down, Drunk, Bum!!
With a Power Ring...
