your going to love it as long as you don't have a fear of crowds. Last few years it reminds me of that star trek episode where they kidnap Kirk so that he can give them a disease because they are so overpopulated the whole planet is standing room only . Yeah SD comic con is something like that. But it is also the greatest convention of all time.

LoL. No, thankfully, I don't have a fear of crowds. So far, the most crowded con I've been to was Dragon*Con last year, and while, I know it's nowhere near the size of SDCC .. it was really crowded and I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

I've been wanting to go to SDCC for years but I wouldn't because I'm terrified of flying ... but, this year, for my birthday my girlfriend got us tickets to SDCC, so, I have to get myself on a plane to fly from Baltimore clear across to the other side of the country. Little nervous, but looking forward to the con!

Join an important panel featuring the best teams that define heroism in the DC universe. Geoff Johns (Teen Titans, Justice Society of America), Sean McKeever (Teen Titans), Gail Simone (Birds of Prey); and Tony Bedard (Supergirl and The Legion of Superheroes) will be teamed with senior VP/executive editor DCU Dan DiDio, group editor Eddie Berganza, senior editor Mike Marts and editor Mike Siglain to bring you teamwork as you have never experienced before. 11:30-1:00 Comics are Not Literature

For years, comics have presented themselves as a new kind of literature-but cartooning isn't prose, and graphic novels aren't novels. Fifty percent of those who take the shot pay the price with their lives, while those who survive are now ostracized by a government determined to rid the world of promicin forever. Room 6CDEF

Andy Mangels (Star Trek: Excelsior) will present the awards. Room 5AB

2:30-4:00 Starship Smackdown Ultimate Episode 4: The Final Showdown

A Comic-Con favorite returns with ships, aliens, computers, robots, oh my! The original Starship Smackdown&#8482 is back in San Diego and it's never been smackier (or snarkier). Watch as the Enterprise battles Gort, Robby the Robot goes mano e mano with Hal 9000 and Death Star does the Klingon Empire. It's the ultimate conflagration for the supereme winner of Starship Smackdown. Be there as we celebrate our tenth year at ComiCon. This time it's war with our expert panel of spaceship-ologists including Robert Meyer Burnett (director, Free Enterprise); Chris Gossett (creator, The Red Star); Steve Melching (writer, Star Wars: Clone Wars, X-Men Animated, The Batman); Daren Dochterman (Hollywood conceptual designer on Get Smart, X2, Master & Commander); Jeff Bond (editor, Geek Monthly); and the Richard Dawson of the stars, moderator Mark A. Looks like the Comic Con website has updated the schedule. Lots more stuff there, including this Friday addition:

4:15-5:45 Warner Bros. Animation: The Batman/Legion of Super-Heroes—This action-packed 90 minutes is split between two Warner Bros. Animation standouts: The Batman and Legion of Super Heroes. The Caped Crusader crew just picked up its fourth Emmy Award heading into a season that promises even more punch, courtesy of guest appearances from some Justice League pals. Supervising producer Alan Burnett (The Batman), producer-director Michael Goguen (Batman: The Animated Series), renowned voice director Andrea Romano, and the voice of Batman himself, Rino Romano, will discuss the upcoming surprises. LOSH enters its second season with double the action as the group adds new members—and a new ally from across the space-time continuum—just in time to face a daunting new villain. Producer James Tucker (Justice League Unlimited), director Brandon Vietti (Superman Doomsday), and story editor/writer Michael Jelenic (The Batman) will be joined on the panel by cast members Yuri Lowenthal (Superman on LOSH), Phil Morris (Seinfeld, Smallville), and Alex Polinsky (Charles in Charge). TV Guide senior editor Rich Sands will moderate both halves of the panel. Room 6B

Would any of you kind and generous souls going to the con be willing to pick up one of the exclusive action figure sets for me?

I'd like to get the Mattel JLU one that has The Ray and Hawkgirl in it.

I'd be more than happy to pay postage and a little extra for your effort.

Oh so I guess we should get a little more organized huh? There's two panels that stand out as particularly Legion friendly:
Thursday 7/26, 6:00-7:00pm in Room 6A
DC Group Therapy: Leagues, Legions, Societies, and Teens!

Friday 7/27, 4:15-5:45pm in Room 6B
Warner Bros. Animation: The Batman/Legion of Super-Heroes

Should we get an email chain going about who wants to meet when? During panels, creator signings, breaks, dinners, etc.? If you want to be on the email chain (or just want the results of the email chain once it's been decided) please send me a private message with your email address, Legion user name, and if you want to, real name.

In addition, there are a host of Legion and Legion-friendly creators that should be there. Here's who I've found so far:
Legion Friendly
Chris Batista
Adam Hughes
Dennis Calero
Eric Canete
Eric Wright
Bernard Chang
Phil Noto
Amanda Connor
Lauren Montgomery
Mike McKone
Jim Calafiore
Tony Bedard
Ivan Reis
Gail Simone
Dan Jurgens
Todd Nauck
Jim Lee
Ale Garza
Cully Hamner
Cliff Chiang
Sanford Greene
Renato Guedes
Phil Jimenez
Geoff Johns
Carlos Pacheco
Stuart Sayger

Big favor to ask of one of those attending. Besides any little Legion items you can get your hands on could someone pick me up a set of First Day Covers for the Marvel postage stamps? They'll go real nice with the DC ones from last year. Just let me know price and shipping and I will generously reimburse you.

Perhaps they should give Rupert Murdoch a special effects workstation and pay him piecework style for each usable frame of film produced.

So here I am in San Diego, and my supposed roommate has been incommunicado for the last couple weeks. I don't even know if he's going to show up. Anyone need a room? I'm at the Marriott Gaslamp, really close to the convention center.

Costume status:

Thursday my girlfriend and I will be dressed as Krypto & Streaky, and we will try to be at the Group Therapy DC Panel. If not, we're definitely going to be at the premiere of the Superman/Doomsday animated movie.

Friday she and I will be dressed in our Lar and Laurel Gand military/cargo style costumes. They should be very easily recognizable. Mine is basically red cargo pants, red cargo vest, blue castro style hat, blue backpack with yellow buttons on the straps. Hers is a cargo style dress, red from the waist up, blue the couple inches from the waist down.

Saturday we'll be doing our 5YL Superman & Demon Damsel concept costumes. Very easily recognizable if you know what the 5YL uniforms look like.

If you see us, say hello, take our pictures, and stroke my ego by telling me how awesome the costumes are (even if they suck. Though, I am especially proud of the handmade silver Legion Flight Rings).

Hope to see some other Legion fans there!!

DINNER. THURSDAY. Like maybe after 'DC Group Therapy' (which is 6-7pm) at 7:30/745pmish? Can anyone make it? I've vaguely touched base with L.E.G.I.O.N.John and Suddenly Seymour in the last week or so. If some folks are interested I'll try to make reservations somewhere big n' closer (Rock Bottom Brewery, Bucca di Beppo, or ?). Gary? OM? Wndola1 or Kryptaku?

Friday night might also work but I'm not sure if I have plans already with my brother - if I have dinner plans I might still be free after dinner.

Saturday night I can't make it personally...

I'm available Thursday and/or Friday. Saturday's out for me, too. I'm actually staying over Sunday night, too, if anyone else wants to hang out.

And I can't wait to see Krypto and Streaky on Thursday. Gotta bring my camera.

All my nights are pretty much already booked, so dinner is a no go :-(

Tonight, I'm going over to see the Superman/Doomsday premiere. Can't miss that! Tomorrow, most likely, I'm heading to the Eisner Awards, and Saturday, may already have dinner plans prior to the Masquerade.

As it turns out, we may only be in our Krypto and Streaky costumes for part of the day. It gets really hot in the Krypto costume because it's pretty much a full body sweater. So, if you see us early in the day, take a picture, because we may not have them on later.

So here's who I've seen (and not necessarily talked to):
Outdoor Miner
Suddenly Seymour
Kryptaku in dog form from far away (he ran away from Outdoor and Seymour while I unsuccessfully went after LegionJ.O.H.N. after the Legion panel)
LegionJ.O.H.N (he asked a question at the panel but we failed to get his attention)
Nightcrawler and Mogli (jet setters that they are I didn't get a chance to talk)
Elvis Lad - I swear he looks like Elvis Lad but I'm not sure if it's him

Monkey Eater Lad, you missed the Mon-el and Laurel Gand costumes from yesterday. Hung out with Seymore for a bit before and during the Legion Cartoon panel (and holy smokes does season 2 look ever different .. no spoilers from me though!)

Today we're doing 5YL Superman and Demon Damsel. So, keep an eye out!

Sorry Kev! We'll look for you before it's over!

I saw 235 - Andy S or at least his twin in line at the panel with us. (I didn't say anything, because [sorry Andy!], I had to look up just now which one of us he was.) I recognized him, but couldn't think of his screen name.

Saw Elvis Lad and Outdoor and Mogli today. Got lots of cool sketches and commissions. I saw this last year but missed taking a photo of it.

Oh and *yay* my art piece made it to the Comic-Con program book as a full page! It's page 159...

Here's Kryptaku and the lovely Mrs. Kryptaku in their costumes. Unfortunately, Streaky was waiting in line to see "Superman: Doomsday." They did a great job, though, didn't they?

I am jealous! Outdoor Miner has a way better thumb than me! (Random question: Why is Starman calling OM "Swamp Thing"?)

Congrats on the full page piece, Kev! Are you planning to scan it for us to see..? laugh

Thanks for the compliment Seymore! Ya know, as I said, we were going for a military/cargo look for the Mon-El and Laural Gand costumes .. but, alas, people kept mistaking us for Mario Bros. :-(

I'll have to post pics soon of the 5YL Costumes we did, we unfortunately didn't get any from the actual con, so I'll probably take some this weekend.

Kryptaku, Great costumes. I am mad jealous of your costuming talent.

M-E Lad, Yup that's just how I pictured Cobie's wedding cake. I also imagine that the future Mrs. Cobie won't need to smoosh the cake in his face as he'll have already dived face first into it.

I think it's in tribute to the Lightning Saga, where Thom makes the same remark to some denizon of Slaughter Swamp that is clearly not Swamp Thing.

...not to mention Cobie already being so smashed he'd never notice one being smashed into his face...
