and I'm knackered. Between the work and keeping up with a five year old boy, I'm exhausted.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

I'm doing a two tiered trellis. Four foot by eight foot on either side, with a four foot sectional walk through. Used four by four posts and a couple of pieces of plastic lattis that was left over by my inlaws. It serves as something for the roses to climb on, as well as blocking out my little compost heap.
I put it in a section of the yard she wanted to be 'wild and natural', but she found out the hard way that the "wild and natural" look is a lot more work to maintain than a structured, planned look.

Wow, sounds like you know your way around a work bench huh? I'm really impressed. I myself can barely nail two pieces of wood together without smacking my thumb a couple of times! Your project sounds nice by the way, and I bet Carol loves it as a special Mother's Day gift from her two favorite boys this year. Then you will have to start thinking about how you can top that gift next year! P.S. The only good having a "wild and natural" section in the backyards up here is to foster stray raccoons, opposums, foxes, and now lately even coyotes! yikes!!!

We get mostly deer, rabbit, squirrel, and the occasional stray dog. We do have possum, raccoons and skunk locally, but the prefer the much wilder places rather than here in town.
Cool thing about our little neighborhood is that we have a small deer herd that live in the woods right beside us, and since its close to town, no hunting is allowed, so they are wild but have no real fear of people. I'll come home sometimes and they will be in a neighbors yard happily eating grass. Buster keeps them out of our yard now.

Hey, FK. she loves it, its just the first part in her master plan to have me so exhausted, I cant press her fer personal favors... like backrubs and headscratchin's.
Jerry, she's got Pink and Red roadside roses.
* Roadside roses are my name for plants and flowers that I find while driving down old country roads. Lots of times, there are places where there were old houses that have since fallen or been cleared off, but the yard plants have become wild. i never get any off of private land, but in the ditch's were they would be cut down by the state or county mowers. I even keep a pack shovel on my truck for just such purposes. These actually are roses though.

Awesome. The roses in Tucson have been beautiful this spring. We have a two year old white rose bush that just went crazy. I counted over a hundred blooms a couple weeks ago.
Our neighbor combines red, pink and yellow. Gorgeous.

Sounds nice. Everytime I try to plant something I swear it takes one look at me, laughs, then drops dead right in front of me! I'm such a city boy it ain't funny.
