Anyone else getting this one? Tony Harris art, and Vaughan writing...this one has to be good!

EX MACHINA #1

Written by Brian K. Vaughan; art by Tony Harris and Tom Feister; cover by Harris

The premiere issue of a new series by Brian K. Vaughan (Y — THE LAST MAN), Tony Harris & Tom Feister (STARMAN, JSA: LIBERTY FILES), featuring eight extra pages of story at no extra cost! This political thriller set in a real world with no heroes tells the story of civil engineer Mitchell Hundred, who becomes the world's first super-powered being. Before long, tired of risking his life for the status quo, Mitchell retires...and soon runs for mayor of New York City!

I think it hits this week/today.

Looks promising and it should be waiting for me when I can get to the store in a week or so.

Hopefully Tom F. sees this thread next time he stops by-- I've been meaning to start one up. This series looks great in the previews I've seen... DC gave it six pages in its "DC Focus" instore ads a coupla months back. Can't wait to see the first issue.

I almost forgot about this -- yeah, I'm totally going to check it out. It has a really interesting premise. I only hope it's not one of those books that has "quality" written all over it, but will takes months before something exciting happens (btw, I'm not talking about "Supreme Power" wink ).

I'll be checking it out. If I like it, I'll buy through the first storyline and see where it goes from there.

Just finished the book and found it quite enjoyable. TnT's art was a lot stronger here than what we saw in The Legion #25. It fit in well with the story.

And speaking of the story. I knew when and where the story was taking place but I was still a little surprised by the ending. I liked the flashbacks and forwards although I wouldn't like to see it used constantly. It just worked for the first issue very well.

I really liked #1 but haven't read #2 yet. I saw Tony Harris and talked to him about the book when I he was sketching me something. I commented on how complicated the helmet was and he was jokingly blaming Brian about it (as Brian sat next to him and Tom Feister).

Issue two was awesome... definitely had some shocking, challenging material in it. I'll wait for more of you to read it before commenting further.

WildStorm's increasing the frequency on EX MACHINA from 10 issue to 12 a year on stronger-than-expected sales of #3!

So if you haven't bought 1 and 2 yet and there's still a copy at your local CBS-- GET it! cool

Check out the full story here...

I've read the first two issues and so far this book looks like what I was afraid it'd be - a book that has "quality" written all over it, but takes a long time for something exciting to happen.

It's hard to tell after two issues just how much politics will play into the stories, but the problem presented here with the art exhibit didn't really captivate me. We'll see where it goes. As I said though, there's a lot of quality work here -- the dialogue and scenes with the commissioner and of course the art. There's just nothing really gripping me so far. I still can't help but think of Million as Max Lord - he hasn't established enough of a personality to me yet.

Hi folks,

Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I'm inking both Ex-Machina and a four issue run of Iron Man on top of being a new Daddy so net surfing time has been greatly reduced. It's only Lesbian teen porn sites for me nowadays. Anyway, I saw the thread and I wanted to say thanks for calling attention to The new book.

DrakeB3003: I appreciate you checking the book out, but I'm really suprised that you feel nothing happened in #1. I thought there was alot more established in that one issue than in whole arcs of some books. Hang in there. This book is not a snack. It's a meal. I hope you like what we've got coming for dessert.

Lightning Lad: Yeah #25 blew. We tried some stuff that didn't work. I've addressed this before.

Monkey Eater Lad: Love the name. Nice Paul Frank logo. Sorry but I've never met Brian in person so I'm not sure who you met. The costume designs were based on some photos Tony took of me a few years ago. I was wearing a WW2 German officer's leather jacket, a back brace with a small vacum cleaner taped to it. A leather hood with pilot's goggles, and a Pod racer helmet. It was all Tony's idea. It sounded reasonable to me after half a bottle of rum. Rum makes me do bad things.

POV: You have good eyes my friend. Keep watching the headlines as the book progresses.

Tom

True - a lot was established in #1 and that's part of the reason I'm sticking around. The groundwork is intriguing enough even if I still feel like I'm waiting to be drawn in to the story that takes off from the premise. I'm sure that's just the pacing of the series.

Just read issue 2 yesterday. I am enjoying this book.

I have a feeling there may be more to the art exhibit than we think yet.

Tom, you and Tony are doing a bang up job on the series so far, looking forward to a good run.

Having met Tony a few times at Conventions here in Detroit...I can see how he could talk you into things after a half bottle of rum...

Oh, DUUU-uh... I just made the connection between that headline and what happened to close out issue 2... of COURSE, they're related, right?

shake I know I can be a little slow, but Jeez! smile

Kudos to everyone involved, Tom. I'm definitely enjoying this book. I'll have to bop by the Jolly Rogers boards and tell Old Man Harris, too! cool

Sorry Pov. You'll have to wait for the payoff on this one. But hang in there. We're actually trying to keep this one under our hats a bit. But again, kudos on your attention to detail.

Dev em: Half a bottle? That was the old days, and for the record Tony's the one in his wife's nightie when he drinks.

Just goin by what you said my man.

I could see Tony talking people into things without alcohol...probably just makes it that much more fun for him.

Hey Tom, I thought it was Brian from the way he talked about the book but maybe it was an editor or JD Mettler? Whoever was there at the table with you and Tony in the DC comics booth at SD. I think it was saturday afternoon so I should have generally been sober enough not to imagine a third person around. Thanks for the explanation of the costume elements, though I wonder about the leather hood? wink

I just got #3 and read it at lunch. I'm likin' this whole political spin - its the kind of stuff that my old professor would get a kick out of. I'm really likin' Kremlin. He's like the cool uncle that your parents did want you hanging around too much. I wonder if this is getting any mainstream press in NYC yet?

Not that I've seen. "Identity Crisis" got a bit of press though.
