I agree, WORLDS FINEST 0 just rocked my socks, and Maguire is turning in the work of his career!

Caught up with issues 1 - 4 and 0.

Reads well overall. Liking the new incarnations of the characters so far. Really liking what I have seen of The Atom.

Caught up with WF 1-4 and 0.

Really liking this book. More than erven E2. The characters have a great relationship, and it can almost feel like the old DCU if you let it...even if just for a second.

Earth 2 is pretty good--part of my thinks the story should be moving a little faster and we should be closer to a team-book, but then I remember that this is called "Earth 2," not JSA.

Worlds' Finest is pretty fun as well, though I think Levitz really needs to step up on the plot of it. I mean, the characters themselves are fun, but the stories they've been in are kinda boring.

And since this is a Legion board, I have to ask you guys--is anyone else getting a Dream Girl vibe from the way Levitz is writing Power Girl, or is it just me?

Earth 2 reminds me so much of SUPREME POWER, the Squadron Supreme reboot of a few years back. that started off a fave, but the pace seemed like it had come to a standstill and no one was EVER gonna team up.

Fortunately, EARTH 2's pace is nowhere near as slow as SP was.

Apparently we find out if they're going to form a super-team next issue!

It seems like they've been hanging out in DC fighting Solomon Grundy like forever, though.

I suspect that there's more to Alan's actions than what he actually says, however.

Best part of the issue: Grundy being trapped on the Moon! Nice old school nod there!

Holy gender reversal, Batman!

From the description, I expected this issue would focus heavily upon Hawkgirl, but, other than a brief scene in which she confronts Alan and reveals a little bit of information about herself, most of the storyline focuses on the tension between Terry Sloane and Commander Khan, with Wesley Dodds signing up on Khan's side. Pretty good stuff overall, and, after dragging a bit on the Grundy stuff, the story seems like it's moving forward nicely. A really strong issue overall!

If that character has switched genders, then it's not the one you're thinking of.

I finally figured out what the book reminds me of.

Tangent.

It was a fun line that reinterpreted the characters we all know and love. And while it was a lot of fun, eventually you want the characters you know and love back.

That's where I'm at now with this.

Well, I never really had much interest in the post-Crisis JSA, so it's at least twenty-five years since the versions of the characters I cared about were around. For now, I'm enjoying this "Elseworlds" quite a bit.

Well, Robinson said in a recent interview that part of his strategy for reimagining the characters is to take bits from various versions of the characters. So, "Al Pratt" combines elements of the original Atom, but also Damage and Nuklon. So, I would assume they're doing something similar with the character in question and combining bits of several versions. However, <span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">Click Here For A Spoiler</span><span class="spoiler_text">it looks a lot like Red Tornado II, only with curves and boobs.</span></span>

That seems weird. Something else else for everyone characters!!!

I'm on the complete opposite end. I liked the old JSA, but I like that, perhaps the most out of all the other books, Earth 2 fulfills the NEW aspect of the New 52. I mean, we pretty much got SIXTY YEARS of the JSA as older men and women to some degree. The fact that we're seeing them as younger and more vital individuals with new origins, sometimes even new concepts in this completely different world is really exciting.

Earth 2 #8 was pretty much about putting another major chess piece on the table, and, while it was pretty interesting, it felt like it was only about half an issue.

Still, the full introduction of Steppenwolf as a major player in the series and the debut of the new Fury were pretty well done. The really interesting bit will be, I believe, when Fury eventually meets Power Girl and Huntress, although I don't suppose that will be happening for awhile now.

I can see that, between the pacing and some of the art choices by Cinar, this actually really reminded me of Robinson's brief stint on WildCATS in that there was some stylish action, some interesting characters, and sets up potential for interesting stories, but not a whole lot by way of overall plot development.

I enjoyed issue 8, and like EDE am enjoying this for what it actually is-- an ELSEWORLDS version of JSA.

It's still suffering from SUPREME POWER-like pacing though... I'm ready to see an actual TEAM start to emerge...

I get what you mean, but I think Robinson's said that there's a reason why this is called "Earth 2" and not "Justice Society."

Then EARTH 2 will probably ultimately be unsatisfying to me personally.

Oh well, it won't be too terribly long until the next reality-altering "EVENT" at DC, I am sure...

I suspect we will eventually be getting a JSA, but that the storyline won't necessarily be limited to them. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if JSA eventually spins off into its own book, leaving the main E-2 title to focus more on the World Army/Terry Sloane/political stuff.

Assuming another reboot doesn't take place first.

^ if that happened, I'd be pretty happy. Earth 2 is among the final DC series left that I actually enjoy each month.

#8 still felt a bit on the short side, but not nearly as bad as last issue. The main focus is on the introduction of the new Dr. Fate, but we also meet Jay's mom, and find out that the World Army has learned the Flash's secret identity. Plus, we get the debut of an unexpected new character !
