So one of the things that's kind of puzzling to me about recent episodes:

There's apparently all these signs all over the place on the railroad tracks telling people to go to Terminus. And apparently one doesn't have to venture really all that far from the prison to run into them.

It seems a little weird that none of our main cast would have seen them before now when doing supply runs/exploring the area/hunting the Governor.

I find myself mumbling "Terminus"... That's not normal, right?

Gearing up for some major emotional gut-wrenching action on Sunday... I'm sure this has already been bantered about but I'm figuring a tough scene between Carol and Tyreese... That situation ain't over yet...

Less than two hours to the finale... In the end, this was a pretty amazing season... Major character development... So much so, I could actually see Rick being killed... Not hoping for that, but I'm sure someone big is going to buy it... Carol is still my top bet... Bob and/or Sasha for sure, though I wouldn't call them "big"... The other likely one is Beth, but I hope not... Keep her missing for a while... Bring her back next season...

Just caught up with the back half of this TWD season (I'm wayyyyyy behind in the comic books) and enjoyed them - though maybe not as much as others here. I felt like I needed a little bit more action amongst all the gloom. I also sort of don't like that it seems like they're becoming a bit more beholden to the comics. As someone who's become very jaded with Kirkman's comic of diminishing returns, I was enjoying that the show was its own beast.

Total agreement with whoever said that the show's treatment of the crazy kid killing their sibling (I.e. Ben/Billy, Mika/Lizzie) was 1000% times better than the comic's handling of that storyline too.

The whole Beth disappearance thing was weird though. Are we meant to think she was kidnapped? Or did she just drive off in that car? It was such an abrupt and strange scene.

I'm luke-warm to the appearance of Abraham, Eugene and Rosita at this point too. I just don't think they're needed. The cast is big enough. And to be honest, I prefer every one of the new characters to all of the ones with comic book counter-parts.

I'm cool with them pulling in comic elements faithfully while keeping up their own subplots and characterizations. Gimple (the showrunner) seems to be doing a good job of balancing that out, giving us the best of both worlds.

This season was markedly better than all of the uneven seasons before it, but I think the show still has room for improvement. The writing is at times great, but still descends into standard TV silliness at times to service the plot (A lot of Beth and Darryl's actions were dumb as was Rick's plan, or lack thereof, in the finale).

I also think having a consistent "Voice" in Gimple will be beneficial. He seems to know where he wants to go with the characters, and that will be provide better arcs. Take Rick for example, I know his thing is to be constantly torn down and built up again, but his outlook was so radically different in each of the first three seasons, I'm glad they seem to be picking a more solid direction and going with it.

I think if they can keep the book as a framework, continue to improve the characterizations and just work on elevating the writing, we have a lot to look forward to.

So we spend a whole half season building up to Terminus, and then resolve it in one episode (albeit a great one). It's an interesting choice, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it.

I, for one, am glad we're not lingering in one setting again any time soon. If this means onward and upward, then I'm all for it. On the other hand, I hope it doesn't just mean endless random woods and stuff until they reach DC.

Also, isn't Gareth supposed to be a character beyond this episode? I thought I'd read that he was either a new series regular or a major recurring character. I'm trying to recall the long trailer we were shown around SDCC; he seemed really prominent in it, but I can't recall if all of his scenes were culled from this episode. I saw him apparently get shot while on the rooftop of Terminus, but it could have been a minor wound.

My impression was that Garreth would likely be a recurring menace this season.

It's really just incredible how far Carol has come from the first season, amazingly aided by superb performances by Melissa McBride. Not only is she a dynamic character--explosive really--but her relationships with the rest of the cast are equally engaging.

What's funny is that immediately after the first airing, TWD's official Facebook put up an image that spoiled the ending. People on the West coast and international viewers are flipping out.

I'm officially more into the show than the comic. I have a year's worth of TWD comics sitting unread.

I'm two years behind on the comic and two episodes from finishing last season. Guess I'm a bit behind.

It wasn't so much "Fear the Walking Dead" as "Wait for the Walking Dead, They'll Be Along Any Minute Now."

I guess that's what you get with a show that doesn't have Rick's coma as a cheat to get to the good stuff faster. I think it would have been better if we didn't already know so much more than the characters do. I'll definitely be watching, though. I'm hoping the female lead will become the central character--its Rick Grimes, if you will.

I actually liked the way that it played with our knowledge versus the character's ignorance.

The big problem for me is that despite having a whole extended episode becoming acquainted with these folks pre-Zombie Apocalypse, I'm pretty okay with any of them becoming zombie fodder.

Yeah, me too--with the exception of the female lead. I dunno if it's because of anything she showed us as a character or if it's because she was on Sons of Anarchy for awhile and I'm seeing some bleed-over potential from there. I'd really like to see her become the alpha female of the group.

I'm also hoping that Tobias (I think that's his name), the kid who saw all this coming and brought a knife to school, catches on and sticks around. I'm sensing some Daryl-esque breakthrough potential, albeit in a much different way.

Me too, they were all terrible. That shithead Nick and his ill fitting clothes NEEDS to be zombie chow stat but ya just know he'll be the last one standing, possibly because one of the writers is a former junkie (massive eyeroll).

All in all, I did enjoy it and am looking forward to more. But I reserve the right to be unmercifully bitchy towards it.

Yeah, I can't decide nerd kid has potential or if I just want to beat him up and steal his lunch money.

I kind of like the daughter because I can sympathize with the daughter because I totally get the whole just wanting to get the hell away from your dysfunctional family. On the other hand, I'd kind of like to see more of her on the 100 where she makes out with other chicks, so there's that. wink
