OK, I'm new to eBay, but I don't understand the odd pricing. Is this the Bizarro version of the comic? Or is Bizarro the seller?

Well a 9.4 CGC graded copy of Adv. #247 is currently priced at $45,000.00. But a regular, ungraded, mint condition copy is only worth $9,750.00.

Am I to understand that these are loose... pages? Not even coverless issues, but loose pages from comics?
I imagine a fun collage could be made with these loose pages, or perhaps a portion of a wall papered with them to neat effect, but... selling them for $8?

Someone posted a Want-It-Now listing for Grell SLSH or 185-258. A certain dealer posted this for the Wanter's perusal: Remember this?

This is from the description. Nice quality custom poster printed on high quality semi-glossy paper. Digitally recolored-nice vibrant colors! How could you Digitally recolor a vintage poster? Unless you scanned it and then printed it on a large format color printer. He also has a George Reeves Superman poster listed. I think there's a copyright violation going on here.

I have never heard of this before. Although I do know that here in the UK we used to get a thing called double double comics which would bind together "american" comics (from marvel and dc) in a new cover. Adventure Comics # 247 Unique variant cover So is this for real or just clever marketing? And if so is it a good price?

I'm no expert... but it smells hinky to me... and I'll tell you why. He says he has something that should be worth a lot, but it sounds like he doesn't even know the facts behind it. For instance, the description states, "The covers include Red Circle Comics 4, Blue circle 5, & Blazing Comics 5,6 All printed in 1945." But the first appearance of the LOSH (as stated here ) wasn't until 1958. I don't know if that's clever marketing or not. If you look at the sticker on the PGX comic, it says "DC 4/58", which I'm assuming at this point is the publisher, month, year of the comic. Now it could be that he made an honest mistake in the description and that the book is really worth the over $300 price it is at right now. I don't know. What I do know is that I wouldn't pay that much money for that comic when I could pick up the DC Legion Hardcover Archives (which has this comic reprinted along with several other early appearances) brand new for $50 or less. Other than that, it sounds like a legit first appearance variant cover. The seller has a pretty good feedback rating so I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. FYI... if you go here you will see that a CGC 5.0 Adventure 247 sold for $1,200 (although I don't know when it sold). So by the reasoning of the description, this variant cover should be worth in the $600 range. Maybe someone with actual expertise can add a little more to this than I can though.

Elmo\'s Junction: A Golden Age Oddity For anyone who thinks variant-type comic books are something relatively new, think again. Comic book variants have been around since at least the time when DC Comics (then, National) stuck a fifteen cent sticker over the original price of the 1940 World's Fair comic and re-released it for sale.
What I think was one of the most interesting variants ever published was Red Circle No.4 (pictured above). Red Circle was published by Rural Home Publications (also known as Enwil Publications) from January to April of 1945, producing four issues. Each issue in the series contained stories about such characters as "The Pranster", "The Judge", or "Red Riot". But obviously, sometime in the early 1950's, this company discovered they had a LOT of left-over covers around for the 4th. issue. So they re-released the comic, but this time they put all of these covers on some OTHER comic!
Now, other companies had re-released remainer issues before, most notable Fawcett with their Gift Comics in which they bound together various comics with a cover and re-sold them, and even EC did that with a title or two, but each time they'd created a new cover , AND, they'd used their own publications. Enwil wasn't so picky.
They'd just used ANY coverless remainer comics they could find (or maybe even removed the original covers just so they could have coverless books) and reattached their OWN cover back on it. So finding a copy of Red Circle No.4(cover date April,1945) could have just about ANYTHING within it from the early 1950's.
Some of the variations that are known are: Woman Outlaws(published by Fox), Dorothy Lamour (also by Fox), Crime Does Not Pay (Lev Gleason Pub.s), Sabu (Fox as well), Diary Loves (Quality Comics), Love Confessions (also Quality), Young Love (Prize Publications), as well as the above book (that is from my personal collection) which contains Strange Adventures #24 (from 1952, and is a National/DC Comic).
I would'nt call the number of variations endless, but there are literally thousands of different variations of the interior of this particular comic! So bascially it is probably an original, remainder, issue of Adv. #247 that had its original cover stripped and this company tossed on one of their extra covers from a book from the 40's. Worth it? To me only if you have an original cover to #247 to make a true issue.

What would you say this Dan Jurgens art is worth? It's specifically described in the eBay listing as: "Nice art." That's it. The whole set of details. Nothing about condition. The sellers want $5,800. Fixed "buy it now" price, no dickering or auction. Even though this is the best cover from my favorite Dawnstar story, and even if I'd won this week's Mega Millions jackpot, I wouldn't shell out one-tenth that price for it. I've seen signed Giffen original-art boards go for one-tenth that price, and he did fewer of Dawny than Jurgens did. Crazy, mon!

If I could sell my two Legion rings for this much, it'd help fund my trip to Vegas in July.
