Hmmm.

Mark wants Bouncing Boy on the team but Barry isn't convinced.

They should just compromise.

Bouncing Wolf, anyone?

My goal was to have myself in the same letter with all my men, but there weren't any letters big enough to hold us all!

So I had to content myself with being the only woman in the logo laugh

*hugz* to ya, 'Gazer!!

Anyway, Sunday morning found me running back to the room to find Lash packed up and ready to go. So I grabbed a quick shower, and got packed myself. Lucky for me, Lash stashed all my books in the bag, so I didn't have to worry about those. For some reason, Lash ALWAYS takes pretty good care of me. Thanks, buddy. I owe ya!!!!

Lash headed on back to Memphis. He was a little anxious to get home, and I can't say I blame him.

Against my better judgement, I headed back to the convention with everyone else. While waiting in line, a helicopter flew over. It looked vaguely military in nature. That was when a few in our group started doing the M*A*S*H thing. After they were done, I made me mistake of uttering, "I guess we should be lucky they didn't know the words." laugh Whoops. THAT was when I found out some of 'em actually knew the words!!!

And there was talk of Pov doing stuff that we're not allowed to discuss on the boards. Or probably anywhere else, for that matter. All I'll say is, "I hope it was as good for you as it was for us, Pov!!!"

When we got in, I went by the DC booth, and there was Barry and Mark, RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT THEM!!!!!! And they were still signing and drawing!!!

I debated on getting some DVD's but I passed. THEN I remembered that Power Girl sketch. So I headed over to Artist's Alley. I strolled through, and found all sorts of art I wanted, but I FINALLY made it to Joe Singletary's booth again. I went through the sketches he had on the table, but I didn't find it. So I flat out asked, "You had a great Power Girl sketch out here yesterday...." Before I could finish asking, though, he was carefully going through what he had on the table. Once he was satisified it wasn't there, he dug in to an envelope and produced the sketch. I grinned entirely too big. So much for my poker face. I delicately inquired as to a price. When he said $15, I immideatly pulled out $15 of the $17 I had left in my wallet. So now I'm the proud owner of a Power Girl sketch, with a caption that reads, "For the 2,567,318th time ... YES! THEY ARE REAL!!" Yay me!! I also picked up a book and had it autographed by the artist and writer, called "Darkspire 2151." I think it has to do with Vampires. (Hey, don't look at me!! Blame Midnight Son!!!!!!)

I finally made it back over to the regular room, where I contemplated some of the tacky shirts. And looking at more of the comics.

Before I knew it, everybody was gathering to decide where to go. I think most of the gang was going to get something to eat. Afterwards, some were going home, others back to the hotel, some still maybe back to the convention, and Stu over to Fort Worth. Stargazer and I decided it was about time to head on back. So I managed to hand Miner the second copy I had of the third book of the trilogy. We said our good-byes. Handshakes and hugz.

And I followed 'Gazer out until we hit I-45, where I headed South, while he continued East.

I think the worst thing about meeting everybody was saying good-bye. I had such a blast!! It was so cool to actually put a face and a real personality with the posters.

In a world where everything seems so superficial, and everyone wears a mask to hide behind ... well, it's just so refreshing to meet real people. People who have some hopes and dreams. People who genuinely laugh, and who poke fun at each other as though they've been together for 20 years. Granted we weren't together for long, but I'm very honored to have gotten the chance to meet all of you.

Lash, Stu, Miner, Kent, Pov, Quislet, Stargazer, and Yellow Kid ......
Thank you. You were all so much more than I expected. And way much more than I deserved. I thought I would enjoy the weekend hanging out with the group. I was wrong. So very wrong. I enjoyed the weekend hanging out with friends. You're all wonderful.

And if you ever decide to come back to Texas (except for you, 'Gazer ... you already live here!!) let me know?

And as for Stargazer ... If memory serves, Tyler isn't THAT far from Canton. Awwwwwww ...... who am I kiddin'? I'm not that far from Palestine.

*HUGZ*
Thanks guys. Believe me, I had a wonderful time. And I owe you all more than you know.

Well said, Beag!

It was an amazing weekend, and it truly was sad to say goodbye... or au revior, as the case may be. I'm sure we'll meet again, whether in San D, Boston or elsewhere.

I feel SO bad for missing so many of the goodbyes on Sunday.
It's my own fault for getting lost on that mixmaster Texans call a freeway. I wound up driving more than an hour for a fifteen minute trip from my sister's place to the convention center. >waaaa<
I looked everywhere for you guys but luckily I found Pov and Miner and Quis as they were finishing up their business for the day so it wasn't a complete loss...and then I met two of the strippers in Artist's Alley and my mood got a LOT better. laugh
Did you guys know they were giving out free cards too? ...yep, more swag!

I know Barry was really expecting some of us to show up at the hotel bar but none of us made it that far after dinner. Heck, I was so stuffed with barbecued ribs I barely made it back to crash for the night.

btw- Thanks Stu, I owe you dinner buddy.

Well, it's not like it had been set in stone but he did say he'd "probably wind up in the hotel bar" after whatever the semi-official DC thing was that he was headed for after the con closed.

I went to check out the band Friday night, 8:30 published start time and by 9:30 they were still organizing their ...whatever it was they were organizing... the pretzels were stale and the popcorn was cold (nasty)so I DID check out the bar but didn't see Barry there at that time so I gave up on it and went back to my sis's place where there really was a party raging.

I should have stayed a bit, eh?

Ha ha ha

They got complaints from the sponsors for playing their music CDs too loud during the convention. Really I think that was just the easiest excuse they could find to tell them to STFU.
Their studio work wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything I'd have bought without a loaded ray gun to my head.

Hey, Karaoke is fun. You should hear me do U2's One after I've had a couple of boilermakers. laugh I kick nass.

They were in Chicago, too. And they played their CD even louder there. They must have some connections with the WW folks.

They remind me a lot of Thin Lizzy, if you took away that band's power, chops, stage presence, and songwriting ability.

Really? Phil Linnot had a cool voice, very different from every other vocalist out there at the time. I was a huge fan of theirs back in the day.
Their live stuff was pretty damned raw but I fell in love with their studio work plus I liked it a lot that their cover artist was James Fitzpatrick, sweet stuff.

Aw, I getcha. I stand by my original statement, they'd have to threaten me with something really nasty like....geez I dunno, I even bought Guiffreia's original work with Angel, the Runaways with Joan Jett and Lita Ford and even a rock album by Tim Curry but nothing and I mean NOTHING could make me buy Gino Vannelli.
Yeah, that's it, they'd have to threaten me with Belinda Carlisle's chick rock or something equally heinous.
