Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

How spiff! I had always noticed that 'odd-looking' star at the bottom of pages here and never thought to click on it! Kind of humbling to know that LW has its own special star out there...with the billions of other ones people have named after their pets, first girlfriends, and favorite snacks. In ursa major no less, too! Neat.

It's beautiful. But am I glad that I'm not the only one that saw it. I thought my insanity was increasing. And I am partial insane, at least my family thinks so.

WHAT visible "star" are you all talking about?
If it's the subject of the linked thread from some months ago, the "star-naming" gesture is very generous, but it has no scientific import. (Whatever the "registry" may be -- the "International Star Registry" is the one around longest with this marketing ploy.)
The International Astronomical Union, a membership body of academics and researchers, maintains the star catalog used worldwide for references in scientific journals for astronomy (of all varieties), cosmology, and physics.
I guess I got tired of people falling for the "Star Registry" scam, as if it had any real enduring or scientific import beyond a gift of a nicely printed "certificate." And its entries being "listed in a book held by the Library of Congress" could be said about, oh, a hundred thousand published books every year.

You'll see one star in the starfield background that's way brighter than any of the others. When you mouse over it, you'll notice it's clickable. When you click it, it wil open to a page with the star registry certificate and such on it.

Again, I have to say it's beautiful. I live in the city, we have four stars all together.
