...not to mention watching Wonder Girl change in seedy alleyways, while showing off his chest hair.

FOR THE RECORD DEPT: I was as big a fan of NTT as anyone was back then. Of course there were things I didn't particularly care for, such as (see this thread), and the non-acknowledging of the previous team members. Conversely, the first issue of the 70s TT relaunch has a Monitor-Board type image featuring all the 60s Titans and that really whetted my young appetite. Lilith? Hawk? Dove? Gnarrk? MUST FIND OUT ABOUT, etc).
Marv also had a thing for weepy dudes that really grated my cheese as it went on. And let's not even bring up his usage of his then-newfound power at DC to create an event that would eradicate everything about the old DCU he deemed stupid or that he felt the readers might be too stupid to understand (THERE'S ANOTHER EARTH THAT'S SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT? DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ME NO GET THAT... ME DUUUUUUUUUUMB. ME NOT READ DC NO MORE AND INSTEAD READ MARVEL CAUSE THEY FOR DIMBULBS).
Oh dear. I feel I've digressed from whatever my original point was going to be... oh, yeah. Terry Long sucks.

I thought Jenette Kahn was the one behind the edict to eliminate the parallel earths and that Wolfman, Wein, and others involved in CoIE were just doing her bidding?

^ Yeah. Whatever crimes we can hold Wolfman accountable for (and, IMO, crimes such as Evil Lesbian Raven, Lord Chaos, Batallion and everything he did with Cyborg after Titans Hunt are much more unforgivable than Terry Long) I really don't think Crisis is one of them.
That whole (bad) idea came from much higher up than him. He just had to find a way to send it off in an exciting and respectful way. And in my biased opinion, he succeeded.
Re: Terry Long. Do people think they would have liked him if he had been more traditionally young and handsome? I admit to also finding Terry a bit of a creepy bore but, as someone who isn't attracted to what most people consider 'traditionally good looking', I wonder if we're being unfair on non-normative relationships?

Okay, true enough re: CRISIS. It's a shame no one argued in favor of DC fans' intelligence though. Levitz probably would have had more clout to argue this to Kahn than Wolfman. Point conceded.
re: Non-normative relationships? Nobody's dissing those. Let your freak flags fly, I say. Remember SQUADRON SUPREME, where Zarda (the immortalish Power Princess) is still married to her decidedly non-immortal and now very elderly husband? That was handled very sweetly (until evil you-know-who came along).

I don't remember much about the Terry/Donna romance, having read most of the Wolfman-Perez era in a binge. I do remember they had some good moments. I liked the wedding issue.
I also remember they had some ugly moments centered around the time Terry was having trouble finishing his paper.
I don't think I read their actual divorce or the events leading up to it in Team Titans.

This thread is ridiculous. Apologies to all. There's no way a character that hasn't been relevant to anything in decades should inspire this in the year 2015.
Despite this thread, I'm really not at heart the guy to go after and try to destroy what he dislikes. I've always been more the "support what you like" guy.
I'm pretty sure it's all the negative feeling over CRISIS being brought up by Marvel's upcoming version of same. It's really time for me to mostly get out of the monthly game, especially the monthlies the Big 2 offer.

No need to apologize, Lash. If you can't vent about your pet comic book peeves here at Legion World, then where can you do it?
I love this thread! I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's hilarious!

Yeah, this thread is great. While I'm certainly more a fan of promoting what you like, the occasional ridiculing of lame stuff like Terry Long is perfectly acceptable!

What they said! I hope my pondering about why people might find Terry and Donna a match made in yuck didn't get you down! The fact is that they were! And more of comics' ill-conceived decisions need to be pointed out in threads as funny as this one!
But if you're really fed up withe the Big 2 and contemplating dropping them, I say "do it!" I never thought I'd be able to drop DC but getting that expensive aggravation out of my life was one of the smartest decisions I made. (And finding old comics for cheap on eBay is so much more fun anyway!)

Ooh, Lash, are you gonna bury the hatchet about (rather than in) Azrael and Marv re:Duela?

I'll let the documentation of my feelings for Azrael and Marv's opinion of Duela Dent (SHORTSIGHTED, at the VERY best) stand. *smile* Blacs, I'm totes gonna do it. I did sign on for the CONVERGENCE thing because it called back yesteryear, but unless what follows is REALLY magnificent, I'm done! There's 100 PAGE SPECTACULARS to be bought instead!

Oh, don't get me started about Azrael! He was so lame that he wasn't even put on the chopping block in Crisis because nobody would have cared if he'd died. Unlike poor likable, competent Kole. *sob*
