I don't know much about Marvel characters but I've heard that one of their best villains is a character called Turner D. Century. Should he be on this list?

Yes, and he may still be Venom. Not clear on that. But his version is generally heroic.

Speaking of different versions of Venom, should Mac Gargan/Scorpion get a second entry on this list for his time as Venom? And what about those other symbiotes that were around for a while?

There are also multiple Hobgoblins: Roderick Kingsley, Jason Macendale & Phil Urich are the major versions. (Several others were brainwashed or otherwise used as stand-ins, including Flash Thompson, Lefty Donovan, Ned Leeds, Daniel Kingsley and Roderick's butler Claude, but I wouldn't count them.) Jason Macendale, btw, also fought Spider-Man as Jack O'Lantern.

And then there was Demogoblin, a demon who fused with Macendale for a time before becoming a separate entity.

I have two versions of Venom on the list. I am aware of Toxin, and will add him/her to list if it is relevant. I might do more research and see if there are more I should add.

I will add Kingpin to his list. He is added under the Vandal Savage exemption clause. If we ever have a DD Villains Idol or Marvel Villains Idol, he will equally be included.

No, he's not from Ultimate Universe at all.



Are you talking about the Hobgoblins? I think Kingsley, Macendale and Urich are the three most significant Hobgoblins. The others were basically patsies or stooges.

Also, Phil Urich was later known as the Goblin Knight and, most recently, the Goblin King. I don't recommend separate entries for these identities, but for completeness, they should be included as slashes or something, Just as Jason Macendale should be listed as both Hobgoblin and Jack O'Lantern.

Ultimate Demogoblin was Mary Jane Watson.

I have decided to cave and dig up an online encyclopedia. I am going to add the following to the list:

I am using video game encyclopedias, as I figure they must be popular in order to be featured. I am going to do more digging and see who else I can find that is relevant. I may end up going to the library and checking out a physical Spider-Man encyclopedia just to be sure my list is thorough.

Yes, you never told me the order of the Hobgoblins, so I am just going to include the one.

Well, I didn't want to call them I, II and III because that wasn't exactly accurate due to their being minor Hobgoblins in-between. But I feel that this isn't an accurate Spider-Idol without them getting separate entries. It should've been:

I was confused by Paladin's list as I thought the Hobgoblin was Ned Leeds. I then got sucked into the black hole of researching Hobgoblin's publishing history. Wow, what a mess. Basically different writers wrote him with different identities, editor's changed it on them, and basically there are Hobgoblin stories where he is now retroactively one character, but at the time it was published was meant to be someone completely different.
